Just terrible. They made an error on their end between sales and service and didn't include a location for oil delivery though we discussed that with both the sales representative and service technician. When I called because we were out of oil customer service was unbelievably awful. They said they can't deliver without an oil tank location and couldn't make that change till next week. They didn't acknowledge their error. After lengthy holds and a long conversation they finally asked a district manager and he suggested delivering a small amount to tide us over until we could get this sorted out next week. read more

RYMES was a great company when it was locally owned. Friendly people, helpful staff. But not anymore. Not since being bought out by a greedy, out-of-state corporate conglomerate. Now they are price gouging at $5.39/gallon for propane when the current market is only $2.79/gallon. Adding insult to injury, while they properly credited me for the remaining propane left in the tank, they charged me an "F-U" fee of retrieving THEIR OWN TANK from my yard of $169.95. What a rip-off! After approximately 20 years as a customer of Rymes I decided to change vendors. The last 2 years I believe Rymes has gouged their customer base with higher than necessary pricing. I requested a review of my account last year and they offered me a 2 cent discount. Wow! I reviewed my alternatives and found a new vendor(Palmer) who saved me 73 cents a gallon on Propane vs Rymes price at that time. Sadly, when Rymes found out I was leaving they sent out a delivery truck and filled my tank before the other company could do so. They then charged me 90 cents more than what they had been charging me, never left an invoice on my door per our agreement. This then led to my 10 day early pay discount to lapse. I am disgusted with how they treated me on my way out to a new vendor. I will be happy to recommend Palmer to all who care to listen. There is a reason why people leave on business for another, customer service, respect (or lack there of) and pricing. Pricing is usually the last reason. Good bye and good riddance Rymes! read more

The woman at the front desk always looks like she has something so much better she could be doing (when she isn't texting, that is). Don't get me wrong, i hate being stuck behind a desk all day as much as the next person, but she could at least be personable. I've seen better customer service from a rock. They constantly send a bill instead of coming in and collecting a check, when I have repeatedly reminded them that I "Pay Upon Delivery" ( a service THEY offer) Who ever makes the calls is the rudest woman ( probably the Texting Extraordinaire from behind the desk). very short with me and hung up on me. Cool, right? sorry, I wasn't aware I was paying for your attitude ON TOP OF all of your mystery fees... We moved to NH from out of state where we were lined in for gas supply, this was our first experience with Propane Tanks buried in the back yard. We bought the house under contact with another supplier and Rymes offered to buy the tank and contract us for a really cheap rate. We took it, we have since signed another contract for this winter and recently had to have Rymes come out to mend our gas insert fireplace. First tech thought that we needed a new gas valve, so another service was scheduled. Steve came out yesterday with the valve and noticed that the pilot head assembly needed to be replaced. Once he did that the fireplace worked better than it had ever before, saving us some serious $$ and time! The customer experience with Rymes has always been great and we would highly recommend them to anyone. read more

Called Rymes to see if I could get kerosene from the Antrim facility. After being on hold for 7 minutes, a lady asked why I was calling, then put me on hold again. When another lady picked up, I explained again and was put back on hold. Finally, she came back on and told me I could go to the Antrim location to get kerosene. I was happy to hear that and didn't mind the 15+ minutes I spent on the phone. That was until I went to the Rymes in Antrim, where I was told that despite what I had been told, they did not have a pump for me to get kerosene. How could they get that wrong? This was a thoroughly pathetic waste of my time and there was no apology, just a "they [the lady I spoke with on the phone] should have known better." Now, I know better--about Rymes. read more

I called Rymes Propane to install a heater and they said I could book for next may - 8 months from now! The lady on the phone was quite rude and said that thye normally book out that far in advance. That is no customer service and they need to hire more technicians if they cannot service their business in adequate time (i.e. 1-3 weeks). read more

If I could vote less than 1 start I would. I don't know where to start. We are a commercial account and they have cancelled or no-showed on us more times than I can count. When they do show up they send an unqualified technician that is on the phone all the time and ultimately has to leave without fixing the problem. We actually ended up going with a different company for service but Rhymes still has to do all the gas piping. The can't even seem to get that done as I have been trying to get them here for 3 months and still the job isn't done. It's always one excuse or another with them. Signed up for locked in price and made a 300 dollar payment in april on 365.00 final bill i still had 50 gallons left in my agreement and was told on phone i was all set called for delivery in may and they said i forfeited the 50 gallons! So i paid the remaining 63.00 and told them i no longet would do business with them. I did not sign a new agreement. Then they showed up when i wasn't home and put 16 gallons in my tank that i already had another company fill and are harassing me with a 46.00 bill! read more

In 20+ years of home-ownership this is by far the WORST oil company I have ever done business with. Bought a new house about 1 1/2 years ago and started an account with them. In all the oil deliveries to date there has been a problem with all of them, except one. Only one time did they actually show up when they said they were going to, filled the tank and charged us the price we had agreed to. Other than that, every single time they have delivered they have either shown up a day late, not shown up at all, came to deliver and only pumped 10 gallons, filled the tank (200+ gallons) when we only ordered 100 gallons or charged us a price much higher than what we "locked in" for. And as far as their service department goes we spent almost $1000.00 to get our furnace fixed, took 4 service calls and numerous UNEEDED parts only to find out there was no air in the expansion tank. And now we're told they can't deliver oil today (like they were supposed to) because the roads aren't great, even though we called them 8 days ago and have informed them (today) that we are almost completely out of oil now. Do yourselves a favor, don't waste your time/money with this company. read more

Moved into a house and they refused to send me oil unless the previous owner called them and gave consent / added my name to the account or closed their account which had a ZERO balance. I have never had to fight someone to give me heating oil, I would like to add that i was paying over the phone and not looking for monthly payments or any kind of plan. Had an issue with my water heater/boiler and they came to the rescue. It took a while to get to the problem (couple trips) but Donnie was finally able to get to the issue. Donnie was amazing explained everything to me so I knew what the problem was and what my options were. It did take a few trips to finish the job but not anything he was able to control as it straddled a holiday weekend but all in all we are extremely happy with the result and couldn't be happier with the service Donnie was able to provide to us. read more

Spoke to an owner, Paul Rymes....what a shady and rude person!! Two Stars?? Why am I not surprised?? Rymes was coming every 4 days for a hundred gallon tank for a little Cape, one-bedroom home. I was paying over 500 a month, am single, and never put the heat over 65. When I called and told them to stop, (with a cold transfer to a manager) I was hung up on by him. I found out because they own the tank, I could only use them. In addition, a storm was coming, so I called on Monday (storm was happening Tuesday) the customer service agent said, they couldn't come on Monday or Tuesday and couldn't tell me and when, but they'd deliver "this week". Friday comes, no delivery. I call their headquarters and I am put in touch with Paul Rymes. Wow. Trying to work, and all he wanted to do was debate how they were doing the right thing and that I never asked for propane to be delivered. ??? REALLY?? After arguing with me for over twenty minutes on how righteous they were and lying to me about my conversation requesting propane, he hung up on me. My question to him, that he never answered was, "if you were coming every four days and I called on Monday, why hasn't propane been delivered??" I mean they were practically living in my driveway, as much as they were there!! But after getting angry with them, they can't come at all!! SHAME ON YOU! What a bunch of RUDE and SHADY characters!! In January, we began to experience mild headaches and hints of oily smoke. Immediately called Rymes to have check it out. Within a few hours of the call a Technician knocked on my door. He brought out his test equipment, and began wandering around the house. After an hour of a variety of tests it was determined that our firebox had a slight crack emitting faint traces of CO2. The technician immediately tagged my unit out and shut us down. January in the lakes region of New Hampshire is not a time to be without heat. Dustin at the Laconia Office was very understanding of our plight and put together plans to replace the unit within 24 hours. After 5 days of heating with wood and kerosene we had a schedule for the work to be done. Dustin sent a team early one morning with our new unit in tow. By the end of the day I had a working system. The Team of Craig McWilliams, Aaron and Charlie were professional courteous, respectful and neat. We're extremely happy with our new system. I would be remiss if I did not mention, The amount of time I spent on hold while attempting to write the project, agree to the contract and proceed was mind numbing. It was very frustrating not only to speak to someone, I couldn't get to the right Office, had to explain myself again and again to multiple people answering. Especially at critical times during the process it was not exaggerating but, exasperating to spend up to an hour on hold. So if not for the phone system this would have been a 5 star review. I bought a house that was already serviced by Rymes and despite the bad reviews proceeded with them - BIG MISTAKE. They came out to quote a blower and the gentleman that came out told me $650 and may be three hours of labor (at $65/hr) I finally had to call for the official quote 4 days later when I get some bozo named George on the line who quotes me $5k for a new furnace. When I explain what I want he comes back with $1,480. This company is horrible. Stay away. I am now having another company do this for $850. read more

Worst company!!! BEWARE!! I called Rymes with an odor coming from my furnace. They sent three different technicians, it was cleaned and NO problems were found. The fumes continued and I was getting nauseated and dizzy. They came back for the third and final time and still no problem was found. Finally I called VAILLANCOURT FUELS and Bryant came right down, he found more than a couple problems and also found that when the technician from Rymes was here he wired it all incorrectly. Bryant rewired it right and it's been working fine ever since with no odor! Wouldn't you know Rymes sent me a huge bill and when I went to their office with the list of things that Bryant found wrong, there was zero reimbursement for almost a 600.00 bill. Dealing with this company has been one big head ache. Day 1 we moved into a new home renting. The propane stove goes out. Our landlord just had it fixed before we got there. They tell us the gas line needs to be replaced (sorry if I don't use the right terms) we say okay they told us 2 days tops! Day 3 nothing's Week 2 NOTHING Week 3 they come to the house replace the part then the pilot light breaks okay it happens I get it. He says 3 days. Day 4 part is in they come out it's the wrong part! Now we are on week 4 waiting with no heat. The people for customer service where kind and the workers who come to the house are also great but that's not all that makes a Business. If you set a date to please your customers that's wrong just tell them hey it's going to be a couple of weeks so they can get a space heater or something to compensate for the lack of heat in the home in WINTER. You're experience with this company maybe great and I'm glad if it is but I would not recommend them to any of my family or friends. read more

Rymes used to be a good company but something changed. They hadn't delivered propane since July. I called last week asking when they would deliver (I'm on automatic delivery), they said at the end of the week. End of week came and went, no delivery. On Saturday, fuel ran out. I called, they said they would come on Monday. Also said it wasn't an emergency since it powered only my fireplace (used to heat a cold room) and generator (electricity goes out often). Called on Monday they said they would try by Thanksgiving. After throwing a fit, they agreed to Wednesday. We will see if they come tomorrow. If my electricity goes out and I have no generator, I will be sure to take them to small claims court for any losses. Time to look for a new company, since this fuel company obviously refuses to deliver fuel to paying custormers. read more

my 300 pound propane tank sprung a leak. Rhymes came right out and realized the tank needed to be swapped out for a new one.The guys did a great job. Was credited for the 104 gallons that was lost from the tank leaking. Don't know how I could ask for more. Wish I could give 10 stars !!! read more

Please dont' EVER use this company. We had an outstanding bill from 2006 (okay yes it SHOULD have been paid) however, we did make payments on in totalling 650 dollars on a 297 delivery. I can show you paperwork this is NO LIE. So okay we are okay right..hello we paid more than twice what we owed. I get it we didn't pay right away and there are "FEES" so fine. No...NOT fine. A sheriff came to our house and said we owed Rymes Oil another 318 dollars....WHAT??? yup....and guess what we had to pay it or my husband was going to JAIL! Okay I get we all get behind but we PAID 650 dollars ALREADY to this company. So that 100 gallons cost us almost a grand and the embarassment of a police office coming to my husbands work. we looked around for someone to install our washer-dryer. really, it was all about gas connections, besides the entire installation of the washer-dryer. I went with Rymes of Antrim after speaking with others in the area who highly recommended them. To say they far exceeded my expectations is an understatement. They did a highly professional job, making our installation functioning without problems. In fact, it was like a new home installation in that they had to install a completely new service. They double checked and made sure the dryer was completely functional without any glitches. The job was neat and completed beyond expectations. When dealing with gas lines, don't cut corners, go with the best. They even upgraded or gas stove feed, as we are the second people to live in this home, and it was not properly installed the first time by the previous owner. Now our stove functions safely and better. If i could rate them higher than 5, i would ! Our installer's name was Donny. read more

Don't deal with these folks. They filled up my tanks charged me for the propane. Immediately after I paid, they pulled the tanks for a bogus reason. Didn't contact me. Didn't give me any notice. Just pulled the tanks. I was overseas at the time so with the cold, I incurred property damage. I charged them with theft. They sent me a check for less than I paid to fill the tanks two weeks prior. read more

Perhaps my rating will improve if I get a call from a manager today as promised, but until then I'm giving 1 star because I can't give any less. We left Rymes last year because we'd had a couple of problems with them, but decided to try them again and transferred our accounts back a few weeks ago (for two properties). We haven't had any problems at our residence, but I just found out that they haven't made a single delivery to our multi-family property. Not a single delivery. They also didn't do the safety inspection on the tank at that property until yesterday, and it failed because apparently the wooden blocks that it sits on are now a code violation despite it never failing an inspection in any of the preceding years. So now they won't deliver until that tank issue is corrected but I have a building full of tenants that are going to run out of heating oil if we don't get a delivery very soon. So far they've offered to send a site technician out to do an evaluation, but that doesn't help us if we run out of oil before any corrective work is done. We have an elderly tenant in one of the units so this is doubly frustrating. read more

They put in a new fuel tank in June, they got $1800, now it has water in it probably from transferring the old fuel. The filter froze full of water on December 13th. It is now the 18th. Neither one of my Kerosene heaters (MPI and Toyotomi) have fuel, so no heat! Rymes came over on the 14th, didn't know what to do so took no action. When I called them on Friday they said they would jury-rig something until spring, taking fuel only off top of tank. Is this even legal? They have not called or appeared as of 1:23 pm December 18th. I am cold! My wood stove can only get house up to 65 degrees F in one part of the house, the rest is in the forties. One of my pipes has frozen already. I have had nightmares with their billing me for the tank paid for by SafeTank program at State of NH - Rymes would not bill it to them, and tried to charge me interest and ignored all the letters and emails I sent them over a period of 5 months. Worst company I have ever delt with.Orderd oil because I was going on vaca.Payed for oil and woke up to delivery guy pounding on front door.I looked and saw an angry ass hole with an attitude.Asked wats up and said he could not get in driveway because was not sanded.told him I will put some down and he would not have it.Then the wire was to low all trucks get under it.then the passage was to narrow.All trucks get through it.Had every excuse to not give me my oil.I find myself in a sceaming match after just waking up with this idiot.I will never deal with this company again.
