Time now to discuss, not a place that I visited, but a business that visited *me*. Not to mention....possibly revitalized life as we know it here in the [insert last name here] residence. This happened over a week ago. But imagine (if you will): awaking in the early morning attempting to get ready for work on a typical New England wintry day, when you notice the hot water is gone. As my heart sank to my nether regions, I feared the worst. Upon reaching the basement, my greatest anxieties were quickly realized as I witnessed what can only be described as a literal geyser erupting from my now dilapidated excuse of a water heater. In short, ladies and gentlemen, this thing was toast. With my basement partially flooded and my family potentially facing frigid showers, there was only one thing to do: contact the heating company who would quickest solve this dilemma for us. After scouring the four corners of Yelp for a little under an hour, A.J. LeBlanc was the first to respond. Due to it being incredibly snowy and dangerous out there (not mention having 3 other jobs earlier that same day), it took them a while to arrive. Once they did though, they were extremely accommodating, professional, and precise with their installation. After working out the quote and payment details, they were able to arrive with the necessary parts THE VERY SAME DAY! I don't think I need to tell you how important this point was for us, considering not all companies in the area can necessarily pull this off on such short notice. I won't tell you how much we spent that day. But let's just say it was just shy of a king's ransom. Nevertheless, it was quite worth every penny. They say you can't buy peace of mind, but Leblanc's prompt service comes damn close. What impressed me the most was not only the superb install job (which you can clearly see in the photos I posted); but also their brief yet thorough instruction on how everything works on the brand spanking new heater. It's worth noting that they made a big deal about making sure everything was done strictly to code. And we are eternally grateful, especially after learning the former water heater (which I *think* was around 8 years old) was severely outdated. I mean, the thing didn't even have a drain pan. Imagine having just a water heater sitting on the ground with nothing to catch any leaks. *sigh* Anyway.. The new water heater comes with a 6 year warranty. So, should anything unexpected happen before 2029, we'll know who to call. These guys probably saved our lives that day. Because I know I certainly didn't feel like catching hypothermia via shower due to an out-of-date, busted ass water heater from 2015. As such, I'm giving A.J. Lack of intelligence, experience, follow through and quality. Poor judgment, talent shortage and refusal to return phone calls. 30 year old furnace replaced before Thanksgiving with one they cannot start, fails completely before Groundhog Day, resulting in bills for chimney upgrades, frozen pipes and washer repairs in excess of $3,000. read more

Just had Mini Splits put in by installers Josh and Christian. 4 units in various parts of the house to cover cooling and maybe some heat supplement for the winter. The price was right, the schedule was set and the installers showed up on time ready to go. They spent 3 days from start to finish explaining what they were doing whenever I asked and more importantly if I asked for a change in routing of pipe that was feasible they did it without question. The install is neat, clean, and when finished it was tested and explained how to operate. This is not the first time using AJ LeBlanc, they did my heating system some years back and do my yearly maintenance. Highly recommend them. read more

We called for service because our ac is not working!! A technician came out and found there was a leak that was unrepairable. The unit is probably close to 15 years old. We were quoted thousands of dollars less than another business for replacing the heat pump. The reason we called another business is because we were told that the next service date could be as late as early July...and we are supposed to have a 95 degree day this weekend! After talking with the technician and the office, they were able to squeeze us in the next day since it was basically a swap out. Thank you so much, AJ Leblanc! I wouldn't be able to stand 95 degrees in this house, with stairs and on crutches! read more

I chose AJ Leblance because I wanted one service provider to complete annual maintenance on my heating system and my central A/C systems (upstairs and downstairs are separate units). It started out great, until one day when they sent a newbie tech to service my A/C systems. He was here for 1/2 hour and said everything was fine with both units. I wasn't comfortable that he had been thorough in his work, so I called my installer. He sent one of his techs to check things out, only to find that the capacitor in one of the units needed replacement. That did not surprise me because I could hear the hesitation in that unit every time it switched on. As for heating service, don't get me started. Their techs would show up, work for 1/2 hour, give me a receipt with no itemization of what was done, and then expect me to pay on the spot. Subsequently, when I had an issue with my hot water heater in the late Fall (i.e. no hot water), they told me that they couldn't show up for a couple of days because their techs were busy doing service calls. Funny that only 4 months prior, they called me to tell me that they had to push out my annual scheduled heating system maintenance because they had a customer with a hot water emergency. Four stars? Maybe if you live in the right zip code. But apparently quality and responsiveness are just not available where I live. read more

After we moved in, we had a problem with our dual-fuel heating system that first winter. The guy who did the original install for the previous owner came, spent thee hours to "fix" it (and really did nothing but take the cover off and put it back on), then just ignored calls and texts when the same problem continued (the heat-pump was not actuating when it hit the heat set point). On a referral, I called A.J. LeBlanc and they found the problem in 15 minutes (faulty sensor that was a redundant part and not even needed). Charged me for the service visit only. This past winter, had another problem with the HVAC recycling. Ended up being a fuse buried somewhere in the system. Charged me for the service visit only and showed how to get to to that area and what to look for in the future if that happened to do it myself. A couple of weeks ago, I had called with respect to a problem with my AC. Since LeBlanc was running about a week out, I got a recommendation for somebody to come look at it. To make a long story short, the other person pumped $400 in 410A in the system, said since it didn't move the needle it must be a leak, then told he he would need to reschedule so he had time to look for the leak which could result in a new compressor if in the wrong place. LeBlanc came out a week later, diagnosed in 15 minutes that there was a blockage in the system (not a leak) and found a defective valve. Had to wait a week since the part was on backorder, but they came today and had the entire repair done in 1.5 hours plus the cost of the valve. Also told me that the other guy could not possibly have pumped that much 410A into a closed system without changing the pressure readings. Each time they have come out right on schedule, have found an easy or obscure problem and addressed it quickly and efficiently, and billed fairly. I regretted each time I had called somebody else. read more

I really had high hopes for these guys when scheduling an appointment to quote new HVAC and plumbing work. The plumber arrived early, the HVAC consultant arrived late. They clearly were not aligned. The plumber made snap judgements about extending the gas line, basically telling me what couldn't be done as opposed to offering practical solutions. The HVAC person was pretty lackadaisical and took no measurements or load calculations. Neither did the plumber. They both looked baffled as to why they were even here regarding scope of work. Two weeks later I still haven't received a quote. Glad they didn't want my business. I will spend my money elsewhere. They even left their blank notepad here. read more

I was a Leblanc Heating customer for over a decade. I always gave good reviews and recommended this company to my friends nearby. I can assure you that it will not happen any more. I had my oil furnace cleaned as an annual check up and maintenance. The service tech was incompetent which required another technician to come out the next day to fix the problems created by the first tech. The hidden labor cost ($120 per hour!) was never informed until the work was done. The office manager was less than professional to deal with. (Not returning my calls) Very disappointed and dissatisfied. read more

Called to get service for my boiler that they installed back in 2008. The person answering the phone said they didn't service my area. That is odd seeing how they had just cleaned the boiler several months before and have since they installed it. She transferred me to another person that basically said we were on the outside edge of their service area and didn't know when they could get a tech to come here. They said they would get back to me when they could get someone to come out but it would not be soon. So I fired them and got another company that was tripping over themselves to take over the service, The company I got has also been in business for years. update: I was contacted by someone from the company with an apology for how this was handled. I did appreciate that. But in the end I moved my service contract to a different company. I wish them well! read more

UPDATE: Changed my rating based on a call I received from Matt at LeBlanc as a follow-up to our issues. He apologized for our bad experience and offered us a nice discount on our next maintenance appointment. He stated they have very specific procedures the techs need to follow. Apparently our technician who didn't follow these procedures is no longer working for the company. PREVIOUS REVIEW: Beware. We had them redo our furnace. They did a great job. But the rest seems to sound like a common theme with them. We had our annual maintenance check up last year. They went in and did their thing. They recommended we order filters online and replace them ourselves to save money. Very grateful for that. Unfortunately their technician forgot to plug back in the water condenser. We ended up with a water in our basement as a result. Sorry, but attention to details and a follow up and retribution would have been an appropriate measure for keeping customers. Did not happen. Apparently that's not where they make their money. read more

We contacted AJ LeBlanc to look into repairing our hot water tank which had a extremely rusted inlet water pipe that was in danger of bursting. The service department responded within hours of our call by sending Robert to look at the problem. He did not have the correct parts on his truck to make the repair, but told us he would return the next day with the parts. Robert returned the following morning to make the repair which was very difficult due to the amount of corrosion and rust on the pipe. He made the repair and made us very happy customers because it saved us many $$ by not having to purchase a new hot water tank. We have used AJ LeBlanc for HVAC repairs and installations in the past, and have always been happy with their service. If I could give Robert 10 stars, I would, he was a tremendous service technician and a nice person as well. read more

I found our new plumbing and heating company!! After terrible service from Lachance, and being ripped off by Mr. Rooter ($505.82 for a valve and a little over an hour labor) I was feeling defeated. I took a chance on LeBlanc and I'm so happy I did. We had some issues with our boiler with lack heat & hot water. I called because of the good reviews and I have to say, these guys are excellent! Previously had used AJ Leblanc for last two years and they were great. However, recently their service has dropped off significantly. I had scheduled a furnace cleaning back in March and they fit me in June. No problem, I get it, they are busy. However in June, the technician shows up and tells me he can't do my oil furnace cleaning and that the office will call to reschedule the following day. Fast forward a week, no calls from their office to reschedule . I contact their office and they tell me they can fit me in around September! I inform them that they are the ones who canceled the previous appointment (scheduled months prior) and the nice woman at the office tells me their is nothing she can do and that it is their management who is making her schedule out that far. I asked to speak to the manager and she tells me they are all on vacation but will have someone call the following Monday. Now, another week has passed and no one has reached out. I am disappointed and I'll be taking my business elsewhere. read more

Matt came out this week to replace a bathroom faucet and troubleshoot some issues we are having with a shower. He got the faucet replaced and walked me through the issues with the shower valve. He gave recommendations for what replacement parts were needed and where we could save some money if we wanted since it is not the primary shower. Will definitely be calling for future plumbing needs. read more

Whenever something has gone wrong with our heating or hot water, LeBlanc has sent someone over to evaluate the situation the same day. We know that smaller shops are not always able to provide that level of responsiveness, so we purchased our furnace with LeBlanc. Service people over the past 4 years have been very pleasant to deal with and have done a good job, with the exception of a plumber. I'm not giving 5 stars because there were significant, "unexpected" costs during the installation of the new furnace--like asbestos abatement on the old furnace before it could be removed that should have been obvious to the person writing up the estimate. read more

I called around 12:30pm the other day and was promptly responded to by Matt, a technician. I notified Matt that I had a tenant stating their was a gas smell coming from a radiator hookup in the apartment. Matt called around 12:45pm staying he would be able to come out after servicing a customer in Milford and then Bedford NH and it would probably be 2-3 hours. At 2:15pm that same day he called to notify me that it was no longer looking good for the day and I would be called in the am to schedule something for the next day, Christmas Eve. I called at 8:15am Christmas Eve and was on the phone with a woman who was very rude and treated me ignorantly and with a sharp tone, almost attacking me. The woman told me that they do not work at all on space radiator and I should have called the gas company in the first place. I would have done that had I not been told that they could do something about it. The woman also told me that they are not accepting new customers. This turned me off because I should have been told that the previous day when Matt told me they service their current customers first then get to others. I was direct in stating I felt she was getting frustrated and that I was solution- focused. She continued with the tone the entire phone call. I don't feel that the company did acted ethically and should have been more transparent. By putting current customers first and stating it to a new customer in an emergency situation makes this company feel that new customers or ones they need to turn down are not important at all and that's where my frustration is. I have never had the chance to be an existing consumer. If new business is so unimportant, be more transparent about it in the first call so that effective communication allows those not able to be serviced at least feel validated- she simply could have helped in a customer service driven manner. I just bought this house and was expecting a well known company like this one to take a new customer emergency situation more seriously and be there when they said they were going to be. I would have been someone that would use this company a lot in the future and referred a lot of people considering I am an investor looking to purchase more multi families, work in real estate and have a wide network of investors and real estate agents in my circle. Very disappointed with the tone and treatment in the customer service they provided and will be relating to friends, family, business partners and more. read more

First of all my quotes didn't come close to what they actually charged us. Second, as someone with an MBA I could not even pretend to understand their invoices. Things were double and triple charged. When I could understand I caught them charging 9.5 hours for 6 hours of work on one invoice. I wish I had some way to recover the $25k they over charged me for work that is mediocre at best... but don't worry, after they over charge you $25k they will send you a $5 off your next $100 in services. read more

Much to my delight, they were there within the hour and soon after the heat was working!! And this was in the middle of a snowstorm! Their service manager showed up promptly (he was actually able to arrive early at my request!), was very courteous, provided an excellent explanation about my boiler system and how it works, answered all of my questions, and provided a thorough assessment. Beware. While everyone is very pleasant, my hot water tank replacement was a nightmare. I had 3 service calls to get it back up and running, and it did NOT PASS THE CITY'S INSPECTION! The installers ended up blaming each other on visits, and I was promised a call from the owner, but that never came.
