This was our first time dining here, but I was so impressed, that it certainly won't be my last. Unlike most sushi restaurants, the first thing I noticed was that the sushi is not "jumbo" sized, but properly bite-sized. The presentation of their platters is artistic and they have some beautiful creations that I've never encountered elsewhere. The service is professional, but not overly fawning. The décor is tasteful and classically charming. Their prices are very, very reasonable for the quality of their food creations. I would say that Sushi Yoshi is one of the top 2 or 3 sushi restaurants in the Northeast of Brazil, so it goes without saying that I highly recommend this restaurant.

The upstairs dining room is larger, but I ate downstairs so I could watch the sushi chefs (which is part of the fun for me of eating sushi). The sushi we had was not only beautifully served (see the photos), but very fresh and delicious. I also had a cooked dish of swordfish ("meca" in Portuguese), and while it was attractive, the fish was so overcooked that it was dry and tough, despite the fact that I asked the server to make sure the fish was on the underdone side. If not for this plate, I would've given the restaurant a better score. This isn't the best Japanese restaurant in Recife, but it's still pretty good--just stick with the sushi.

Whoever made the rice screwed up the entire batch, putting way, way, way too much vinegar. They're lucky they don't have any competition, otherwise, this place would be out of business.
