Ryori is a new (it opened a few weeks ago) upscale Sushi/Japanese/Pan-Asian restaurant located inside Manaira Shopping Mall. It is located in the space formerly occupied by the now-closed Jun Sakamoto.
The restaurant did a complete re-design and the ambiance is very attractive, albeit a bit dark. Service is excellent: our waiter Guilherme and the manager were extremely professional and very helpful.
The food was a mixed bag. Our first appetizer, salmon cones (purportedly, salmon, wasabi and white cheese served in a toasted sesame-crusted cone made from a fried gyoza wrapper) was bland for my taste. Our main dishes were very good however. I had a Bulgogi Mignon and the beef was stellar (the Korean gochujang sauce was fabulous). My wife absolutely loved her Tirashizushi (with delicious sushi rice, scallop, salmon, tuna and king crab)
Overall, I would assert that compared to the now-closed Jun Sakamoto (who has a Michelin star at his São Paulo restaurant), Ryori is much better. I will be back very soon! read more
