received our free quote and were very pleased, but then we received the contract, then we called to review it because it wasn't what was asked for. They wanted to pave over the damaged driveway instead of the replacement that we asked for. We were greeted (very rudely) with " oh , well that will be at least an additional $1500.00. It will require additional materials and the labor is not free. When we said that we were not interested and would be looking elsewhere, we were told "WELL YOU DO THAT!" and were hung up on. Would not recommend this company to anyone read more

I called them to give me an estimate to seal my driveway they said they do not need to come out they can get the dimensions of my driveway from the satellite. Couple hours later they send me a text telling me the price is $400. I called and scheduled a day and time to come out to do the work Couple days later they called to let me know that they made a mistake and the price is $600. Don't waste you time and your trouble with this company!!! read more

No no no! They came by the first weekend in November 2018 and said, sure, they can do it next week. Well they ripped out the driveway Monday and then it rained all week. You'd think they'd check the weather? Then it was getting cold so just dumped a huge amount of stone and threw a base coat overtop Friday. It was less expensive, sure, and quick, but we got a driveway - only the base coat - with 12-18 inch height of stones lining the drive. They suggested "just adding some topsoil and seeding around it." For another several thousand by the landscaper?? Hit the garage with some equipment as well. I'm looking at replacing the whole thing for a LOT of money, but at least it will be done right. Don't use them! read more

Had them install a new asphalt driveway over our already-compacted gravel lane. The job was supposed to include removing the old gravel, putting in a proper base to the right grade, and laying down several inches of asphalt. I went with their specifications, so it's not a matter of me trying to be cheap. When the job was done, at a glance it looked pretty. But literally within about a week or so WEEDS started growing in the middle of the pavement in one area. Little weeds like thistle appeared about 2 feet in from the edge. I called to report it. They sent a guy out to look. When the manager called me back, he wouldn't do anything about it. He told us to go buy weed killer and just spray the plants. How could the new base + several inches of pavement possibly be as thick as promised if I have weed seeds germinating and popping through? That was the last anyone from S & M has spoken to us. No follow-ups, no nothing. Left with nothing else to do, we started spraying the plants as they appeared in the paving. And we paid quite a bit of money to have the driveway sealcoated as soon as possible. Still the cracks are appearing...?! The first winter came and went, and then the grading and weak base issues showed up. Part of the driveway seemed to sink a bit and was covered in a spiderweb of cracks. By the end of the second winter another area seemed to sink and get covered in cracks. Neither spots were places cars parked. I did notice they were areas where grading wasn't right and water flowed from the lawn, across the paving, and down the other side. I thought pavements should have little crowns to prevent this? Or, if they felt that one spot in the yard was an issue, they needed to talk to me about having the lawn's grading changed. Every so often I notice little spots here and there where the asphalt just crumbled - sometimes the size of a quarter, sometimes larger. I have no idea what this is. But it doesn't take long for a week to start growing out of it. Why am I buying Round-Up and spraying my pavement every month?! I was better off with the old gravel driveway. It's now been several years and my expensive driveway looks like it's 20 years old in places. One day not too long ago I came home to find a S&M employee *in* my yard hooking his hose up to one of my yard water hydrants. I asked who he was and why he was in my yard taking my water without permission. Apparently he got a paving job from a neighbor and he just assumed I (1) knew about it and (2) granted his company permission to wander my property and help themselves to what they needed. I was nice and said he could use the water but to let their manager know I was not happy that S & M did not ask permission. I also reminded him about my own personal driveway - how we're still not satisfied with it. The worker seemed apologetic and promised he'd let his manager know. Of course, I've never heard back from anyone. I would not use them again or recommend them to anyone. read more

S&m Paving!!!! Wow !!!! They went above and beyond me and my husbands expectations. We had A family member who had their driveway installed from S&M and it looked so beautiful and they were so happy with the company. They recommended us to call because our driveway was gravel and just needed some asphalt finally! So we called they came out and gave us a estimate it was a very reasonable price so we discussed scheduling they were very nice and helped work around our work schedule ! The day of project start they came in and installed our driveway in a timely manner! All of the workmen were very respectful and courteous they explained everything that was going to be done and why it was going to be done. Sam will ok everything you ask him to do and then completely under deliver. He sent his workers out on site without them knowing exactly what the contact stated. After the job was complete I called to inquire about the missing work. Sam told me he would send someone back out to complete the job; that was several weeks ago and I haven't heard or seen anyone. The only positive:0 Jesse; he was the head worker and did a great job. He worked hard and did a nice job. It isn't his fault his boss sent him on site ill-prepared. read more

Driveway was replaced after 18 years, looked great initially, but within a few weeks a spare car that was sitting had big indentations. Driveway is guaranteed for a year, and they came out quickly to patch the areas, but patching looked uneven and not what we expected - looked like patching to which they said to seal it in a few months. We did not allow any cars in the driveway for a full week so we followed instructions. Their price was the best, but likely due to poor prep and subpar materials/quality/workmanship. We were looking to move so didn't have them come back again. The areas near the grass starting breaking apart as well. Have another driveway to do in new home, but will be looking to spend more to make it last. read more

My experance is simular to the other writter who wrote in about his S& M Paving job with grass growing up in it. ****NOT GOOD*** ! I will say that Sam (the owner) did seem very nice when we meet to sign the contract. I trusted him and he was very reassurruing that my new replacement driveway would be done correctly to A. Remove a swall at the end of my driveway and B. Properly support the weight my large motor home. After all their web site clearly says you can count on them to "do the job right" ! Little did I know that my new driveway would NOT even support the weight of my car without the tires sinking in. It all looked okay at first a little wavy thou, (and there where some other issues duruing the installation as well, but I will hold those comments for now) After about three weeks when I began parking on the new driveway I started having major tire sinking issues right away where ever I parked my vehicles. (but no weeds at least not yet ) but I did have many loose surface stones. It seems every place I park my small two door "light weight" car or my Excursion I still get ( four months later) deep tire marks some several inches deep and in some places I also have some pretty major cracking. I even paid S&M Paving extra to install a double layer of asphalt where my motor home was to be parked, But I even have cracking and sinking tire marks from my car and truck tires in that extra heavy area as well. I now have so many tire sink marks and cracks in my driveway it looks awlful ! and it's a mess ! Along with a fairly large odd shaped patch at the end of my driveway due to them breaking the county roadway while installing a new drain pipe. My motor home sunk in 4 to 6 inches even with 2 by 12 boards under the tires the first time I parked in my driveway which was over three months after the driveway was installed. Of course I was told by S&M Paving installers not to park on the new driveway for two weeks with the car or Excursion and wait at least two months for the motor home which I more than exceeded before parking them or anything else on it. Another paving contractor that I had gotten a price from told me that the "likely" cause for my issuses is that S&M Paving did not properly compress (roll) the base and/or ashault layers tight enough. (Let me say It was VERY embarrassing to have call them and explain my situation but I needed some "expert" advise). The next VERY disappointing thing has been that I have been promissed by Sam the owner, The person I once trusted to do a good job ( AFTER SEVERAL....... PHONE CALLS TO HIM and even had to use another phone number to get a hold of him ) that he would come repair, fix or replace my driveway on two differant occasions while I was on vacation in August but that never happened either. AND NO ONE has ever bothered to even call me and explain why or to re-schedule either. Look I know any company can have a mistake, but to not address your mistakes in a reasonable time frame or make promises you don't keep TWICE is a VERY BAD sign ! I don't think I would not be nearly so mad right now if someone would call me back and explained something and than took some action to take care of this ! There web site states that "they do the job right", and there Quote/Proposal form says "we guarantee all work " but SO FAR.... that has not been my experence. Their lack of action/and responce in my eyes means they must not really mean the words they use in print or postings. I would be more than be happy to write a new comment here in few weeks saying how S&M Paving did step up to the plate and completely addressed this matter but I currently hold little faith that will happen based on the past. S and M did a parking lot for my LLC. They failed to get it level and there were puddles after the first rain. I called and they promised an acceptable repair. The first area they attempted to repair was inadequate, so much so that I did not request repair of other low areas. I will not utilize their services in the future! read more

Will not stand behind their work. My driveway cracked after several years (5 years to be exact). The owner came out to discuss this with us and he started lying to us saying this is normal for a driveway to spider crack. In fact he said that this is so common for a driveway to crack and that he even re paved our neighbors driveway. We are good friends with our neighbors and they never had theirs re paved, caught the owner (Sam) lying to our face. When I told him that he was lying he said that he would not stand behind his work and he jumped in his truck and ran away. We wanted him to just fix a 4X4 spot but he wanted to charge us &$900 to fix it. DO NOT TRUST THEM TO PAVE YOUR DRIVEWAY. read more

This company had the contract for our association. What a mistake!! Sixteen months ago they started the project they were to do one street at a time because of the parking situation. We live in a townhouse community. This company not only started other street before finishing the first they tore up 4 streets before completing the first. The curbing on almost half of the one of the streets was done with the wrong material. They came back two days later with the right material. They spaced the curbs 6-10" from the common grass area between the sidewalk and road. They hand formed all the turns(sloppy). The curbs are starting to crumble in areas , and it hasn't even been 1 1/2 year .I asked one of the men in charge if they were going to put speed hump back in and was told if they had it before then they would ( not) they did not replace them. The road itself was ok some slopes in the wrong places and dips that hold water. When it came to striping the lot they need to find someone that knows how to use a calculator. Some spots are 13'+ all the way down to 8'6". Across the street from me they even lost a spot because of all the odd sizes and the lines are crooked. Wouldn't recommend them. we had our driveway repaved over old paved driveway when it came to were the 2 garage doors werethey build alil speed bump it look great untill it rain then water poured in our garage filling half way up i called company they were suppose to come on monday or weds no show either day.i called back suppose to come next weds no show called thursday said they would be out that day called again same day at 3 she they were in area and would be here or i would get phone call it is now 6pm no show it cost 4400.00 for driveway and 450.00 to seal the leak was there fault because they did not take lilspeed bump past garage doors they lfet 4 inches off each end this company is a piece of shit if your giving them money they will come if the mess up all they do is promise to be there .so im going to contact the better bussiness b. this is bullshit dont hire this guys.im going to make sign and put it in my yard and have my family and friends do same thing read more
