These waters make you wonder whether some prehistoric creature will launch out of the waters at you if you get too close. Yet, you'll see kayakers padding all about these waters. Located in Twin City, Georgia, is a serene retreat spanning 1,634 acres with a 412-acre mill pond surrounded by cypress and tupelo trees draped in Spanish moss, creating a picturesque and tranquil environment. The park's centerpiece is the historic Parrish Mill, a combination gristmill, sawmill, covered bridge, and dam built in 1880. The mill, restored in 1998, occasionally operates and can grind up to 200 pounds of corn per hour, offering visitors a glimpse into its rich history. Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy a variety of activities, including fishing, kayaking, canoeing, and hiking. The park offers 11 miles of trails for hikers, runners, and cyclists, as well as opportunities to spot wildlife like gopher tortoises, blue herons, and white ibis. For accommodations, the park provides lakeside camping, cozy cottages, picnic shelters, and a conference center.

There's a small parking lot next to the park, so we parked and explored the park. We actually came twice - once at night and again the next day. This is a nice little park that opened in late 2024. There were four sculptures and apparently they rotate on a two-year basis. There was also an analemmatic sundial donated by Leadership Bulloch where you use your own shadow to tell the time. The park uses a lot of recycled materials, including colorful aggregate "rocks" made from recycled glass and plastic. During our daytime visit, there was a small outdoor market going on across the street, which sort of added to the "active" downtown ambiance (but this is still Statesboro we're talking about here, come on). If you look at the park from above, the paths form stems and branches of a flower. The top of the flower, with colorful petals, is where the "BORO" letters are. Neat.

The website said every day . I guess I miss understood . The peacocks was locked up and had no food or water completely bone dry And they are in direct sunlight ! It's 105 index today no reason for them to be locked up with no water :( I did let the lady know and she was shocked and had no idea! Maybe we can try again on the weekend .

This was a fun unexpected find in southern Georgia. It has a 35 minute bus ride around their…read moreproperty and a petting zoo of goats. Llamas and geese. There is a carousel for an additional fee. There is bags of food for the petting zoo and to feed the animals on the bus tour for $1 per bag. It's a great little adventure for kids and adults alike. On the bus tour were several babies some were 24 hours old, some were a week old. Great fun for kids.

I'll start out with three tips…read more 1. Bring gnat bug spray. If you're sitting around the pool area, they'll start to eat you alive. 2. Buy your tickets online. The line can get pretty long at the front, but the online ticket line takes 30 seconds. 3. Bring sun tan lotion of something to cover you from the sun. If you're staying for longer than 3 hours, I'd highly recommend looking into getting one of those cabanas. My 2 year old had the time of his life in this place. There was a lot of things to do there for kids his age. He enjoyed the wave pool, the little kid slides, the kids squirt area and of course the lazy river. You can easily spend 2-3 hours here with kids. They don't allow outside food or drinks, but they do allow one "water" bottle per person. The food is priced average and it's not too bad. The pizza slices were like $6 or $7 per slice, but on slice was about a quarter of a pie. This seems like it'd be a great place for a little kids party. I wish they had more shaded areas or pools that were shaded. With a newborn it's important to keep them out of the sun, so a small area for them would be nice to play in a pool.

A friend of mines had posted about this place over the weekend and I figured I'd take my daughter…read morehere. It's about an hour and 15 minute drive from my house. Anyways upon arriving here I didn't really feel like it was worth the drive. It's a fairly small petting zoo area, that mainly consists of goats, 1 lama, and one emu. They do have some chickens and a peacock and 2 parrots, in the petting zoo area. What we really came here for was what was essentially labeled as the wild life safari ride. When the time came for the ride we noticed how filthy the actual van was and smelled extremely bad. Of course my kid didn't care, the only thing she was interested in were the animals. We being the ride and to be honest the only wild exotic animals they had were 2 ostriches, 1 kangaroo that was in a small cage, 1 monkey that was in a box, a zebra and two camels. The rest were just really goats and cows. The important part was that my daughter had fun but I don't think I'd be making the drive out here again.
