Each ranger was so welcoming, knowledgeable, and answered all our questions. One ranger was so knowledgeable about the flora and fauna in and around the mountain. One ranger was a bird expert and shared their binoculars with us and showed us how to use a bird call app to figure out how to identify all the fowl we saw. The other ranger told us lots of stories of the history of the park. It was a great experience and I highly recommend you try it.

There's parking less than a half mile of the main entrance the only thing about that is you have to get there early . Parking lot holds maybe 25 vehicles. When I pulled in there were 6 cars. I entered the trail on the south entrance. I saw no one ! I was looking around and behind me to make sure it was okay as I was alone. I finally came up behind 2 guys that were walking up ahead. I had been out there maybe 20 min. Saw a large Buck (deer) tried to get a pic but he ran when I pulled out the phone . The trails are completely paved with several wooden bridges along the way. Off pavement trails throughout the park. I did not venture off bc again I was alone and I'm not really familiar with the park. Great park to get you in top tier shape. Winding curves and elevation along the trail. Plenty of shade as the trees hover over . It reminds you of Stone Mountain Park just not as large. Idea weather 80 degrees low humidity. Managed to get in 4 miles. I most definitely will be back .

The weather was perfect and the knowledgeable rangers led us on an educational flora and fauna hike. We learned about different plants and mosses growing on the mountain. We even saw a pair of ducks and their nest of eggs. It was the perfect way to spend a Sunday morning.

This is a handy stop that is not far off the highway. The area includes extensive paved trails wide…read moreenough to accommodate bikes and walkers without a huge hassle. The land is interesting, a mix of rocky and verdant terrain. Some dirt trails divert off into the woods. There are a few substantial parking areas. Some open meadows are near the bottom of the hill, while the rocks tend to be more prominent the higher you go. It's a free stop as well.

The restrooms by the playground were clean and spacious! The playground was large and fun and offered minimal shade. We drove out and around to the water front to hike the loop trail which was such a joy. We saw so many lovely animals and ran into some lovely locals who shared stories of animal run ins while at the park. The barn you walk through could use some love it was a little spooky haha overall we would come back in a heart beat! It's a beautiful natural oasis!

The bamboo forest can be found on EP 26 (see map). If you plan on going on a hike have fun exploring and enjoying God's nature! This location is great for a day date, place to chat with friends or nice getaway for a solo trip!

Great hiking area! The trail is more level the closer you are to the Chattahoochee River. The…read moretrails farther from the river are more challenging, as some of the trail segments are steep, few of the trail segments are wide and most of the trails have ruts and tree roots that can easily trip you up if you're not watching where you're walking. Parking at the Whitewater Creek parking lot may be challenging. When the weather is nice during the weekends, people tend to come early, and the parking lot down at the bottom near the Chattahoochee River will get full. I haven't even attempted to come here if I think parking may be tight. Oh, and many people think that parking is free, but it's not. There is currently a $5 fee for parking here, and you can pay online using the instructions at the shelter that has park info where the parking lot stops and the trail starts. Bring at least one bottle of water, and know that there aren't any restrooms. Most of the trail segments are marked on maps posted at trail intersections telling visitors where they are, and which trail segment they're on. Before you visit, check the weather forecast for the area. You don't want to be on the trail when it is raining because it gets slippery. You also don't want to be out on the trail when it's dark; the unevenness of the trails are dangerous in the dark. Go at your own pace, and enjoy your hike and the views along the way!

There are individual trails off the main trail where you walk through mud, dirt, and thick brush, so keep that in mind. For the trails less traveled, look out for the spider webs! Some of the trails lead down to the river. There are playgrounds, a bathroom area (not sure if it was open), and a one big gazebo if you want to rent the space for an event. If you want to get a nice walk or run in without a lot of people, this park is perfect.

Clearly, I'm late to the party as 60+ women already knew the New Year's Day hike with CH was THE place to be. The energy, organization and welcome crew were unmatched! From the time I registered until I got in my car to leave, I felt seen, cared for, IN community and encouraged. We ventured through High Falls State Park TOGETHER - no chaser left behind. I had the absolute best time and I'm so grateful this group exists. I can't wait until my next chase .
