Updating review because there service has gotten EVEN WORSE!!! Who ever would have though this was possible. They should literally have their license pulled. This company just destroyed my lawn. I have foot deep tracks through the entire yard. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY!!! Not only does my lawn look absolutely terrible and cut up, they have done thousands of dollars of damage.... If I could give this company zero stars I would. I have NEVER seen such a horrific job done on a lawn in my life and now they have been given 4 chances to actually cut our grass properly. And by properly I mean super basic stuff. A lawn should not have one line of tall grass and another of short. I received an estimate from Daniel for lawn cutting for a town home (500 sq feet) 3 miles away. The estimate was for $25, however, I received a flyer (which prompted my estimate) for mowing services that stated town homes start at $15. After I e-mailed, and called multiple times, for clarification I finally spoke to someone and was told that was the price. When I asked further what classifies the advertised price the female stated "I don't know, but that is what he wrote, that is price it is." Poor business approach to a local neighbor!!! read more

I got a call back within a few hours stating that someone could come out the next day to do an estimate. I thought wow they are pretty responsive. Loyal customer going on third year. Started up my service for a bi-weekly cut last month. Last week they were due to show up, and never called or showed. I called twice on Friday and the girl that answers the phone said she had no clue why they didn't come except that it shows my contract is cancelled. That can't be, since I just started it. I asked her to figure it out and call me back. Monday morning came and no call, so I again called twice and was told both times she still doesn't know. At this point its been three weeks since my grass was cut and I kind of need to know what the status is. On Tuesday morning she calls me back, informs me that my "yard is too difficult to cut so we cancelled your contract." This is the same yard they've been cutting for the last 2 years without issue. I asked her if this is how they run their business and she said "well I called you two weeks ago and told you we were cancelling." Clearly a lie since the last two days she had no idea why they had cancelled my account. No one called, no one showed up. I asked her why the change and she said the new crew chief Mike doesn't want to cut my yard. I've asked multiple times to speak to the owner with no luck. I wonder how much longer they will stay in business, clearly this isn't a one time thing based off of all these horrible reviews. Like other reviewers, I wish I could give this company zero stars. They earn that rating. They were contracted to mow both my lawn and my mother-in-law's next door. The first mowing was on 4/27/16. My mother-in-law called them a few days after the mowing to let them know that they did not edge, neglected to mow several strips of lawn and the mower was set too high because the lawn was still rather high. When they mowed the second time on 5/11/16, they did edge in some areas (though not all), but they left giant lumps of grass all over the driveway. Again, my mother-in-law called them back and asked if they could come back and correct this. She was told by the office staff that she could not get in touch with the mowers, but that she would leave word with them and they would come and take care of it the next mowing. My mother-in-law stated that was not acceptable, we should not have to live with their mess for 2 weeks. They still did not take care of it. 5/25/16 was to be their next mowing day, but they did not show up. The following day, my mother-in-law called to ask when they were coming. She was informed that they had canceled our service because we were not pleased with their work. NO attempt was made on their part to actually do a good or even adequate job, for that matter. Nor, did they inform us that they were no longer coming. It was something that they just decided with no notification to the customer. My mother-in-law asked for her deposit back and was told that it would be returned on the following Friday. It was not returned until 6/15/16 - almost a month later and only after several calls to them. Customer service should be a given in this industry. If your customer isn't happy, you should make strides to improve service. Instead, they just decide to not deal with you. The things we requested were not extraordinary. We only wanted them to do the job that we paid for. They absolutely do NOT care about the customer or have any type of work ethic! Do NOT use them! You will be unhappy with the results! read more

Their primary customers are HOA's and larger customers; they figure they can pick up a few extra nickles since they're in the area anyway by cutting individual property but that's just what you'll be treated like - an afterthought. This is my first time using S&S Lawn Services. Great job with the lawn cleanup and mulching. I Think they are under new management.

I have been using S & S Lawn Services for over nine years. I have used other lawn service companies over the years, and I am continuing to stay with S & S because of their price, their efforts to please and quality of work. My experience with S & S is that they are responsive to my concerns. When the ground is soaked, soft, and with wet grass, I personally do not like my grass cut at those times......they will skip my lawn as I have requested and if in doubt, will ask before cutting. There have been a few times over the past nine years when due to the wet, soft lawn, I have seen a mower track, or a cut where the mower turned, but this is rare. There are dependable.....I cannot remember a time when they didn't show up. Regarding the consistency of the crews, for my nine years I have had the same crew show up all season long, which is nice because I am particular about cutting certain hilly areas of my lawn, and the same fellows come knowing how I like it. read more

This was my second year using S and S Lawn Services and will be my last. The crew they send to my house "takes turns cutting the lawns". Which means that one man did a half-assed job all year while the other took a nap in the truck. The final straw was 2 days ago, when I watched one of their men stealing drinks from me that were on my porch. I confronted him and his apology was, "I don't even like this kind" as he handed them back over. A call to the company to speak to a manager did nothing. In fact any time I had an issue I was never able to speak to a manager or owner. The poor receptionist must have to do everything. Since reporting this theft I have not heard back from anyone and currently no one is answering the phone there. Terrible service period. I can't even get anyone on the phone to cancel my account with them. AVOID this business. read more

The worst experience I have ever had. I was paying them to cut my grass, fertilize it and seed it. They damaged my flagstone while cutting it and refused take any responsobility for it. after 25+ calls still no response from the supervisor. When it came down to seeding, they only seeded half of what they were supposed to. Awful company to do business with. Do not waste your money. read more

Came back from vacation to find that S & S lawn misquoted the rate and we had been dropped from service, after several weeks of mowing. The lawn had just been mowed before we left. I called and agreed to the new higher price and a new contract. She then tells me (with confirmation from the owner) that because it had not been mowed by them, this week as scheduled, they were now going to charge me extra because the lawn is now overgrown. I have been a customer for a while and have referred them as a Realtor. Now they are dropped, by me, as an unscrupulous business that was never interested in service. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. This company is awful, A LOT of dishonesty and lack of communication between the moving parts; both the customer service and guys servicing the lawn. A summary of my experiences from mid May 2017-mid July 2017: 1. guy that mows claiming he mowed the lawn and logged the time, yet lawn was not mowed. Had to send pictures to show work not done, office said pictures look like it was done, they send someone next day who agrees it was not mowed, says he will mow, I tell him no I will wait (this was a Friday, they typically came T/W), he says he will let the office know when he gets in his truck... I follow up with office an hour later, he ALSO claimed he mowed when he followed up. 2. Inconsistent days of the week. I am told T/W we will be mowed... some weeks it's Friday and then the following week a Monday. 3. I call to find out if/how I can terminate the contract. I am told it needs to be put in writing, was provided the email. I told them I would be in touch. I call back a week later (when my lawn still hasn't been mowed by Th) to find out they terminated my contract WITHOUT MY CONSENT, but still needed my written consent to send my deposit check remaining balance.. WTF. Absolutely horrendous company. HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND. read more
