B.Hernandez Landscape delivered a spectacular, well‑managed solution. They removed excessive tree roots, trenched and built a sturdy retaining wall to protect the tree, regraded the yard to ensure proper slope for water runoff, and created two attractive flower beds with enriched soil and black mulch. They laid sod across multiple curb strips and the front of the house, carefully blending seams and finishing edges. Their quote was by far the fairest among five contractors we interviewed, and the workmanship shows it. With extra sod available they even took additional time to install over a curb strip for me. I hired B.Hernandez to repair crumbling flagstone on my front porch. David was quick to respond, prompt to schedule service, gave a fair price (not the cheapest but not the priciest), and did a good job. When the job got a little more difficult than expected because of some settling issues, he explained the problem, gave me options, and stuck to his initial estimate. There actually was an issue with one of the repaired stones cracking the following week and I was worried it would be hard to get it resolved. Things happen, mistakes can occur and I've found many companies don't handle that well (they basically disappear). Not David. I really hate having to write a negative review, but I feel it's important for others to be aware of my experience. Initially, I was impressed. He responded quickly, came out to my home, and seemed kind, professional, and eager to help. I asked for a spring yard cleanup and privacy trees to be added. He told me I'd receive an estimate within a day or two -- but after that, communication completely stopped. I followed up by text and phone with no response. A week later, I sent one final message asking again for the estimate, and only then did he reply saying he had already emailed it. It turns out he sent it to the wrong address -- maybe that was my error, maybe his -- but I gave him the benefit of the doubt and simply asked that he forward the original estimate so we could move forward and rebuild some trust. Once again, I received no response. After a final message letting him know I'd be looking elsewhere, I still heard nothing. It's been a few weeks now, and I've waited long enough to say this: if communication matters to you, I do not recommend this landscaper. He seemed great at first, which makes the ghosting feel even more disappointing. I understand it's a busy time of year, but that doesn't excuse completely disappearing on a potential client. I strongly encourage others to check the low-star reviews -- it looks like I'm not the only one with this issue. This experience left a sour taste in my mouth, and it's unfortunate because I had really hoped to work with him. I previously had them out to give me a quote on a different job and didn't go with them, but I kept them bookmarked because of how impressed I was with the process of getting an estimate and working with them. The process of getting an estimate was just as easy and efficient as the first time. I had them trim our trees, bushes, remove rubber mulch, replace with wood, mulch, and re-edge our garden. The crew was done with all the work very quickly and quality was good. The crew had missed one bush behind a fence that was slightly hidden. When I pointed out they had no problem quickly trimming it and taking away all the trimmings. When I brought this up they had no way acted like it was an inconvenience. Very professional! David and the crew were great to work with. In May, they were hired to install sod in the front yard, for two large areas on the side of the house, and for a good portion of the backyard. There was also a paver patio that was installed in the back. It was a rather large job of digging up different areas of the yard to remove an infestation of an invasive grass type, but there were multiple crew members onsite, and they had the right tools, so it was completed in one day and looked amazing. Initially, David responded to my messages and even came out and gave me an estimate. He seemed respectful, but he is not customer-oriented and blows customers off. The project I anticipated wasn't cheap either, but that should not determine how you treat customers. He failed to respond to texts, but he would sometimes return my calls or answer when I called. I gave David several chances to earn my business, but I guess they are managing celebrity lawns or big jobs for affluent customers. Nonetheless, I refuse to continue to run someone down to gain my business. I will not beg someone to do my lawn and patio. This is not charity. You are not doing me a favor. David was supposed to put me on his calendar days ago. Four days later, and I have yet to hear from this kid. He is very immature and unprofessional. Stay clear of this company.
