The…read morepreop information was excellent and they remind you many times that your post op recovery requires a lot of work on your part. I mostly saw the PA, who was excellent, and I was confident that my surgeon would do an excellent job. Now at 11 weeks out, things are going very well. Their PT center is awesome. As for the center itself, yes, it's a large place that runs efficiently (meaning yes, you might feel rushed), but you also need to advocate for yourself. Show up early for your appointments. Make a list of your concerns or questions ahead of time and take it to your appointment. Follow up with phone calls. If you want to see the Dr. again, make another appointment. I will say that there are room for improvements at the clinic. I found the patient portal leaves much to be desired. The parking lot is often full (allow time to find a parking spot). Most of the receptionists are very pleasant, but yes, like anywhere else, there might be a couple who don't seem to be enjoying their job. Trying to make or cancel an appointment sometimes puts you in a long phone queue, but you can request a call back so you don't wait on hold. I've always gotten a call back within 15 minutes or so. Still, I feel like it's an excellent orthopedic center.

Dr. Walton may be a "good" surgeon with an upbeat personality, but I perceived him as also being…read morearrogant and narcissistic. For example, he is the only doctor I've been to who includes a large picture of himself with exam room decor - I wish I could find the photo I took of it so I can attach it to this review. He also needs to listen to his patients, offer up-front and in-depth information, and ask questions to get more information before making snap decisions. He performed a surgery on me just before the holiday season over a year ago. I live alone, and my family lives across the country, so I was at the mercy of my friends' help (when they were available) post-surgery. I discovered that the recovery process was much more difficult than what doctor and his team had relayed to me, and I realized that I needed more help than my friends were able to provide. My mobility was extremely limited, and I was in excruciating pain. I couldn't drive, and even getting around the house on crutches was a challenge. Desperate, I called Dr. Walton's office and spoke to one of his assistants, with whom I was very specific. I told her that I needed a Dr. Walton to sign off on a temporary home health aide, explained my situation (emphasizing that I lived alone, had very limited help, and why I needed steadier care), and noted that it was covered by my insurance (which is why I needed him to approve it). I received a phone call back from the assistant stating that Dr. Walton refused the temporary home health aide, but didn't state why. I was devastated because I really needed extra help with my recovery during the holiday season (when my friends had multiple family commitments), and this doctor wasn't even willing to give the approval that would provide it for me. During my post-op appointment, I asked Dr. Walton why he refused the temporary home health aide, and his response was, "Because it's just that - temporary!". Wtf kind of answer is that?! I told him that I NEEDED that temporary help during my recovery and why, and he replied nonchalantly, "Oh, I didn't know that, but insurance doesn't cover it anyway". First, my insurance actually does cover it. Second, his assistant should have told him that the most important reason I needed care was because I lived alone (like I asked her to). Third, Dr. Walton should have inquired WHY I needed an aide before negligently deciding that I didn't need one (or guessing that insurance wouldn't cover it). I wouldn't have asked for an aide if I didn't truly need the help. But without one, I had to wait 3 days to even bathe at one point before someone came over to remove/replace my compression stocking before/after bathing and wait around in case I fell in the bathroom. With a home health aide, I would have been able to regularly bathe and get the kind of care I really needed during the first 2-3 weeks of recovery. But Dr. Walton denied me of that needed assistance. Additionally, I found it odd that Dr. Walton didn't discuss with me during my pre-op appointment that he would take a tendon from my hamstring and use it to replace my ACL. I would have asked him to use tissue from a cadaver instead, as it takes someone of my age longer to heal than a person in their teens or 20s. After a full round of physical therapy, and well over a year after this surgery, my soft tissue (hamstring included) is still not what it was pre-surgery. My mobility has not returned to what it once was, and I still limp when getting up to walk after sitting. Because of the ongoing tightness, limited mobility, and lack of strength, I have not been able to enjoy some physical hobbies, such as hiking, without experiencing pain and discomfort in my leg or knee. Running is awkward and painful as well (and I ran track and XC). I will need to go back through physical therapy again in hopes that I can eventually become fully recovered. If I ever need orthopedic surgery again, I will NOT be going back to Dr. Walton, nor Slocum. Both are in dire need of improvement on the patient experience and post-op care. I would go out of town or even out of state for another (better) orthopedic surgeon if I had to. That is how dissatisfied I have been with Dr. Walton and his team.

I NEVER write reviews. Let me preface this by saying that…read more I was referred to Eugene Foot and Ankle after being seen at PeaceHealth for a potential broken foot. My X-rays at the hospital were inconclusive and said that EF&A would get back to me to schedule within a week or two. To my surprise, they called me the next day! I was thrilled as I was leaving the following week to go home for Christmas. The pain in my foot was insurmountable and I really just wanted answers, sooner rather than later. Even without insurance, it would be worth it to finally know what was happening. The day of my visit, I am not greeted. Rather glared at. I stand I front of both front desk "ladies" Jamie and Cindy as they hardly look up from their computers to speak to me. They rudely ask what they can do for me I say I have an appt they follow up with new patient paperwork yada yada whatever. I fill out the paperwork and as I'm doing so they get real close and start whispering about me, not very slick ladies. You might wanna try harder next time when you're in a dead silent office and I'm right in front of you. I hand Cindy the paperwork and she, in the same rude tone, asks me for my insurance and ID. I said I don't have insurance. (As I've stated multiple times on the phone when I was scheduling this appt.) She said okay and I ask what the payment for the appt is going to be, she gives me a range of $150-350 of which I couldn't afford that day unfortunately. I recognize that there's nothing they can do about the price and no way of knowing what it was going to be exactly until after the appt, that's fine. I'm not unreasonable. But what's fully in their control? Their attitude and treatment of their potential clients. I'm highly considering saying F it and going somewhere else because of how rude, unprofessional, and callous these women are to someone who is obviously broke, in pain, and out of options. Maybe keep that in mind that these people are the first impression of this business, and if the doctors are anything like them, I'm good. I'd rather keep limping around a few more weeks and find somewhere else, and upon reading other reviews it appears I'm making the right decision.

In December 2018, my husband had an event (lifted a 25# saw and twisted), something he's done thousands of times over his lifetime, which left him with severe back pain. Not just back pain that caused him to slow down a few days, I'm talking, severe, debilitating pain that started as "I heard a pop in my back and now my back is sore"...... and progressed to the use of a cane, then walker, then wheelchair and bed rest, all occurring within a few weeks. Christmas was spent in an emergency room begging the physician to help us figure out what could possibly be wrong. Pain meds and a "tough luck you've got a bad back" was the diagnosis after a CT scan. We were devastated. My husband continued to decline. The pain worsened and he eventually lost feeling and control of his bowel and bladder. Eventually, we were referred to a neurosurgeon for further evaluation and a myelogram. That myelogram result lead us to Dr Noonan and a surgical team at Samaritan Hospital Corvallis. Praise God! When my husband returned from surgery, he was sitting upright, legs straight, full control of his bodily functions and virtually pain free. It was a miracle. The diagnosis, Cauda Equina Syndrome. At our 2 week check up we thanked Dr Noonan profusely for recognizing this rare emergency and taking the quick action needed to correct and save bodily function. We owe him. Our lives are back to normal, better than ever and his humble response was to thank God. Thank you God for Dr Noonan!!!!!
