I want to say that, for me, McKenzie-Willamette hospital is the best hospital in the area. I have had to go to the hospital 3 times for emergency and the wait was less than 1/2 hour in all 3 cases. I was taken care of and the problem I had was taken care of by the doctors and nurses. The last few months I was at the hospital due to blocked arteries which caused me to have a triple bypass, heart shocked twice, an ablation, and finally a pacemaker implanted. After my bypass I ended up in the Cardiac Care Unit where I was taken care of by the most professional caring doctors and nurses. It was like my comfort and recovery were the most important task they had. It is no wonder that they and the doctors and nurses at the McKenzie Heart Group are a level 3 star for patient care and outcomes. My understanding is that is the highest level attainable and there are only 3 in all of Oregon. Two in Portland and one at McKenzie-Willamette hospital with the McKenzie Heart group. You couldn't do any better than them for your heart care especially if you need bypass surgery. read more

I had a 9:45 check in time. I was called to check in and was then told I was too early, my time was 12:20. I asked her to call to surgery to confirm the new time. She said it stays. I told her I was not going to sit down there for 3 hours and asked her to call again, she refused. After I got home, I received a call from supervisor who had no answer and could not rebook my surgery. Even the guy when I entered never even raised his head, said Hi or welcome just said what is your name. Mumbled about arms on me and said go sit down. I tell you the worst hospital I have ever been in. Now I have no surgery and limping around on my bad knee. River bend may be busy, but they are much more competent. read more

the billing department is outsourced. They overcharged me by more than $900. (the amount keeps changing of what I've overpaid and what they say I still owe!!!!!)I have been trying to get this issue resolved for over 2 months, speaking to 4 different reps, being told multiple times the issue will be resolved or I will hear back from them. they have never reached out. and on top of that they continue to send me a bill. and this is just the billing issue this hospital, even when empty, takes at least an entire working day for any care. they take you back then make you go back to the waiting room, over and over and over before a doctor ever steps in to help! this is the worst system of "care" you can find. not all the physicians or staff are bad, that is true, but their convoluted system is ridiculous. sadly, the other hospital in the area isn't much better. read more

This is more a problem with this country's healthcare system. I go for what turns out to be an anxiety issue. I get three separate bills for one visit. I could've held my breath longer than the time the doctor spent with me but with insurance that short visit cost me over $2k. -10 .. I had a lumbar fusion at this place on August 18 2026. I was unfortunate enough to have a night nurse by the name of Josephine who happens to be from Africa. This particular nurse was very incompetent. "Josephine" had no bedside manner. She made me wait over 45 minutes for pain medication after having screws and rods put into my spine. I got up and left. She chased me out to the parking lot demanding the IV out of my arm. It went so far as calling Security on me. Stood in front of my Uber so I could not leave. I snatched the IV out and threw it in her face because how dare you. So if you happen to get a nurse named Josephine at McKenzie Willamette Hospital in Springfield, Oregon, run for your life because she will not take care of you and more than likely she will go out of her way to make sure you suffer . read more

The staff, nurses and doctors were all really amazing, they took great care of me when I came in. They gave me a shot of medication on my shoulder to numb my pain. They gave me an ultrasound on my painful area to see what was going on. They did an outstanding job on taking care of me!!! Here goes my review (grab a seat, it's a tad lengthy, but kind of wild). I am typically a 4 to 5 star sort of fellow and rarely give one star reviews. Too often one star reviews are the result of misunderstandings or grudges or unreasonable expectations. None of these led to my one star review of McKenzie Willamette Hospital. I had surgery there about three years ago. I have waited this long to submit a review to allow for a robust "cool down" period between my experience and my review. My feelings have not changed. As I lay in my hospital bed, hooked up to an IV and catheter, in serious pain (I'm not a whiner), a loud alarm complete with flashing lights went off behind my bed. A little scary put I didn't panic. Nurses and staff passed by my open door, a few glancing in as they passed by. None responded to the alarm. After five minutes I pressed the button to call the nurses' station and was told someone would come check. Ten more minutes passed. No response. Over the course of the next 45 minutes I contacted the Nurses' station four more times, each time told that someone would attend to it. I was getting a little panicky by then, wondering if perhaps the alarm meant something serious? There was no longer any answer or response when I pushed the call button, so in desperation I called the hospital on my cell phone and asked to be connected to the nurses' station. No response. After the alarm had been blaring nonstop for over an hour and fifteen minutes, I called my dear wife. She made the long drive to the hospital in the middle of the night, meekly shuffled up to the nurses' station and gently asked them if they could maybe help her husband a little bit. HAHA, just kidding! She gave them "what for" using colorful words I did not know she knew and nearly dragged a nurse into my room. My hero. After over 90 minutes, the alarm was finally squelched and my about to overflow colonoscopy bag was emptied. We were told some nonsense about cell phone reception being poor to my room so the nurse assigned to me was unaware. My dear wife spent the rest of the night curled up in a chair next to my bed (I am truly a blessed man). When I later received a standard request from McKenzie Willamette to review my experience, I politely but clearly described what had happened. No response. read more

We took my 95-year-old father to the ER for persistent pain in his belly. Within the hour, he was seen by an ER doctor. Within two, he was roomed in the ER and had a number of tests within the next hour. It took hours to get a room in the overnight stay part of the hospital, but the ER room was private, and we were well attended during the wait. He ended up staying four days and nights. My mother and I were by his side 12 hours a day. Without exception, every single doctor, nurse, aide and other specialist he had during that time was kind, patient, watchful, and positive. They did their best to answer all my questions and were quick to respond to our needs. My father has dementia. He had some serious ups and downs during his treatment, yet when he was discharged, he spoke only of how nice his time had been. He spoke repeatedly about how much he had enjoyed "spending time with the family" and getting to know the younger ones better. This is the strongest testimonial I can give for this hospital. He thought he was surrounded by his sprawling family. The rooms may be small and crowded, but this place has heart and that is what matters to me. read more

McKenzie Willamette has saved my life on several occasions and will always be my hospital of choice as I would not trust my dogs to the other so called hospital in this area. Staff at McKenzie are always smiling and upbeat which tells me they enjoy what they are doing and where they are doing it! Walk into Riverbend and it's total chaos! I had a progressive cough and went to the ER on the advice of my doctor. Glad I did because it turned out to be pneumonia. MWMC er got me seen right away and intoa private room. They ordered a chest X-ray which showed the pneumonia. A test indicated possible sepsis so the physician said he wanted me to stay the night. I ended up staying 2. Nights. The nursing staff, hospitalists, pharmacists, respiratory care, and nutrition were all very friendly and patient focused. One of the best hospital experiences I've had recently. read more

I will have to say my first experience with this hospital was good. Went down hill from there 2 nd , 3rd 4 th time so terrible. Both hospitals in this area are terrible. Just talked to a friend the other day. She went there. Her experience was awful. I felt for her cause i knew how she felt. She lost her daughter as i lost my son to this hospital. Im not going to talk about her experience much its not my story to tell. But know this there lack of caring, knowledge, being helpful and to do no harm by the oath they take caused deaths. At one time with my son one head nurse actually asked me iwhy i waited so long. Those words i think about everday. As if you knew my story. . She had no clue the amount i had advocated for my son nor did i try explaining to her either. Why would it made a difference would they of tried would i actually saw specialist, would he still get his transplant medicine everyday. Would they of not done a ct scan with dye considering he was not suppose to have it with a kidney transplant. Everyday i tried to get more information from the nurses. Without any luck. By day 4 he was getting a little better i was there at 1 am one morning he wanted to walk around my son was tryly a warrior a fighter they didnt want him to walk around because by day 4 he developed blood clots in his lungs. He was given blood thinners the night before and we were suppose to discuss a stent surgery placement in his leg for no more clots next morning came and went and i kept asking about it with no answer ill check on it was allways what i got told asked to see his nephrologist didnt happen emailed his nephrologist no response. They did nothing on that nothing to the point he went on 5 liters of oxygen to breath.. i will write more later for now i need to take a breather. My grief is real. read more

Less than great care in the ER here with super long wait times. I even made an appointment which seemed entirely pointless. After having my CT scan I was told I just had a 30/45 minute wait for results that I've been waiting almost 4 hours for now I'm about to just leave. Think twice before coming here. Amazing experience all the way from ER to admission and Discharge! I have been in hospitals across US as well as world wide and this was by far the best from speedy entry, efficient processing through the end. I give huge Kudos to the entire staff that dealt with me. I went in for a bowl blockage and discovered something different but they were able to treat it without surgery. The STAFF: Doctors attentive, caring and even personal with me as a patient. NURSES and CNAs are the ULTIMATE BEST OVER ALL, worked well together. Great communication, CARING attentive super personable and kind...sincerely! Lab techs and even down to the nutrition department all super kind and the food was great ...once I was able to eat! I switched to this hospital over Riverbend years ago and never looked back. From the ER to the cardio wing and all the basics in between they are clean, efficient, kind, and honestly the chattiest hospital I've ever been in. Everyone appears to want to be here working, the attitudes are very positive without detractinf from professionalism. Even on OHP they don't treat you like cattle and try to keep your spirits up when stressful situations present themselves. The parking is ample, the waiting rooms are spacious, they even treat the entourage waiting for you while you have procedures done with care. I have never been overwhelmed in the ER waiting room even on the busiest nights and the most stressed out nurses have had a great sense of humor while they deal with the masses. They were kind to my difficult autistic son and took what we knew seriously. Follow up care is thorough and consistent. I even appreciate the excellent receptionists who seem to be trained better than most of the medical facilities I've dealt with since covid knocked down employee numbers. As an entire facility I will always feel comfortable going here knowing it is the best option in the area for overall care. read more

This review is for the ER staff which did a first class job and did a great job explaining things and doing the best they could. Check in was fast and the nurse called me back and did my vitals then escorted me back to a room where a very talented nurse started doing his thing (great job, John). When time came that I needed to check it, it was not possible as there is no Gastro Doctors there so I had to be transferred to Riverbend. This is the thing to keep in mind when coming here with such issues and it really throws a monkey wrench on things so keep this in mind and perhaps look into other areas if able, prior to coming in to keep the frustration level down. read more

this hospital may not be all "rich " and beautifully updated but it runs as smoothly as one that does and is as clean as you could ask for. for May years I worked at 5 star hospital Eisenhower Medical Center in the ER in Palms Springs California who only hired the best of the best and the buildings were let's say decorative and training was constant and they spared no expense. The care was also considered an experience to patients and customer service was a priority with patient care along with speed. this same model seems to be here at Willamette Emergency Room. I was inclined to give a 1-star review, yet I've observed that reviews with moderate ratings will often get more genuine readers and I want people to know this. Over the past two years, I've sought advice from this hospital on 4 separate occasions because I heard they were good. Regrettably, only once was the guidance provided accurate. While I won't delve into all the specifics of my health concerns here, I feel it's pertinent to mention that my Ai diagnostics led them to mistakenly assume I had merely conducted a "google search". This erroneous assumption further resulted in them treating me with unwarranted suspicion as if I were merely seeking medication without genuine need. To emphasize, I utilized advanced Ai systems for symptom analysis, and cross-referencing with another platform, both of which identified a potential risk of Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT). Yet, despite the availability of additional diagnostic tests, I was not granted an appointment with a qualified physician and was instead advised to simply take over-the-counter pain relievers. It's disheartening to feel that my well-being, and if I am right about DVT; it is actually MY LIFE that they are not taking seriously! I hope those who read this understand how emotional I was and how I still feel writing this, and I am almost always a very happy and optimistic guy who looks out for others himself, but for those who are supposed to care, to not; it is just unforgivable. read more

But I entered the ER as a patient and was pleasantly surprised at the prompt, professional, meticulous care I received. Went in for the flu...nasty bug. Only was in the ER but the staff was great. Nurses were on top of it . My wife was actually admitted due to a knee injury. i recently was taken to mckenzie willamette hospital er. their er staff is just outstanding. my nurse, candace, could not have been more attentive. the entire staff showed nothing less than true dedication to the medical field. everyone i encountered that day was professional, personable & dedicated to their patient's care. i can not say one bad thing about the care i received there thru all the testing process. having to go to the er is a very stressful experience, but every staff member i encountered at m/w is on the top of their game. i can also say the same about the wonderful emt's from the santa clara fire deparment. this is a winning team. read more

After a rough experience with the other hospital down the street, my wife and I got here at 3am this morning. The took her back right away and within an hour had diagnosed her with server gallbladder infection. At 11oclock they took her into surgery. The other hospital had her sitting for close to six hours with them saying it was a UTI, which was ridiculous. Thank you to the staff at McKenzie - Willamette hospital for your professionalism and for listening to her concerns. If we had stayed at the other place, God knows what they would of done. I was released after a recent visit for hip replacement. From the pleasant security dude to my wheelchair exit. Letitia took my vitals and Amberly my chart history upgrades while Maya prepped the leg as I was being staged for the surgery. I had great confidence in the anaesthesiologist, the Nurse Steve, and my surgeon Dr. Lucas Korcek. After I came to I was delivered to my single room and was practically pampered by Shawna and Ken who were there pretty quick when I pushed the call button throughout the night to sooth the post op discomfort. Daymon was uplifting with his positive energy. Just a big thanks to the staff that made my stay as pleasant as itcould be under the circumstances. Even the Shepard's Pie for dinner was good. Spent 6 hours in the ER today. Every single employee we came in contact with, went above and beyond. Yes they were short handed. Yes we had some wait time to get an ultrasound done. Our long wait time was acknowledged by our nurse and the doctor. They were all very apologetic. They still provided us with attention and updates and had a great attitude and smiling face. Dr Hoyt and Dr Keith both took their time with us explaining the situation and answering all of our questions. Tanya our RN was absolutely wonderful. I spent 14 days at this great hospital. I was on a ventilator for eight days. The care I received in Critical Care Unit was amazing. These doctors and nurses literally saved my life as well as prayers. I actually missed these great people when I left. They were my cheerleaders squad all the way. Having had many surgeries and stays in hospitals, McKenzie-Willamette Was once my hospital of choice. However, during my recent stay for major surgery I was shocked by how much this hospital has deteriorated. I spent my life in engineering manage meant positions and could not believe to what extent this hospital's once great has gone to hell. The nurses were ill trained, immature, & lacked empathy for their patients. I blame this mostly on one day shift charge nurse who's primary job is to get patients discharged to free up beds. After five years of not t being able to walk without help, my wonderful surgeon operated on my back and changed my life. However, the charge nurse was not interested in whether or not I was able to walk. We started everyday with her ordering her nurses an PT team to tell me I was going home. The most serious problem at this hospital is that the doctors are not in control. Everyday my doctor would talk to me about my care; next morning the charge nurse would tell me someone totally different. My care was managed by an incompetent charge nurse & Physical Therapist. If the PT determine it's okay to send you home, are going home. The manner in which I was evicted from MkKenzie-Willamette ways it all. My doctor told me one day that he would be around in the morning to discuss my leaving, and what type of care I might need. The hospital's case manager was already involved, and talked with me. I busied myself with breakfast & called a friend to see if he could pick me up A nurse suddenly barged into my room and told meme Taxi was here. I told him I didn't need a taxi because my friend was picking me up. The went to talk to the charge nurse. He came back and asked if he could talk with my friend, who did nit not answer. He was busy in a meeting. They took my friend's number and later told me they talked with my friend and he said he would not be able to pick me up. I was stuck with the taxi. The charge nurse refused allow me to talk my doctor. Because I was insisted I had a ride and didn't need a taxi, the charge nurse asked, do ween to get Security? They soon arrived. Because I was told me friend had told then he could not pick me up, I started backing for the taxi ride. Get this. When I got move my neighbor came over, and I asked him why he didn't pick me up. He aid the hospital hand called him and convinced him I didn't need a ride. We agreed that charge nurse lied to him. I'm from Portland, visiting Eugene for the holidays. The website said 12 min wait so I quickly proceeded to ER. False Marketing. In fine print it says for triage. I have T1D with high/large ketones. My pump malfunctioned and I didn't receive rapid acting insulin for 8 hours while I was sleeping. The ER promptly had me come back and then the RN argued with me on why I came in. She was very curt and nasty. The Dr was quite nice but under considerable pressure. I asked how quickly I could receive IV fluids and could never get an answer. I explained that I didn't want to go into DKA. They kept taking me back but would never give me fluids dispute having large documented. ketones. Finally, I said I was leaving given they wouldn't give me fluids. No one cared. I would recommend anyone with ketones to go to another facility. Very disappointing. This is substandard care. All ERs immediately give pts in this position IVs even if they wait in the waiting room. I work in healthcare. McKenzie Willamette knows better. read more

This is THE WORST ER! Do not go here if you can avoid it. I was told to go immediately to the ER by Urgent Care. They were quick to do a test on me. Then the Physician's Assistant (I never even got to see a doctor!) came in and basically told me there was nothing wrong with me I was just OLD and to go home! The final shocker came when the ER nurse told me essentially that if we can't admit you or make sure something isn't about to kill you we just send you home. I can't believe I was treated this way! I really felt like I was an annoyance. But to be told I'm just OLD and dismissed?? Its a horrible place. Only go there if you are literally dying because otherwise they don't care about you. read more
