Unfair Treatment & Unethical Charges - Urgent Resolution Needed…read more I feel completely taken advantage of by Master Kang's martial arts program. As a single mother of three, I was looking for a safe and reliable aftercare solution for my children. When I enrolled my 6-, 7-, and 8-year-olds, Master Kang promised me a "discounted price" and a "free uniform." However, I quickly realized that the hidden costs--belt tests, miscellaneous fees, and other unexpected expenses--added up significantly. From the start, I made it clear that I would be unable to stay in class with my children due to my work schedule. Master Kang assured me that they would be watched after their lessons. Yet, on multiple occasions, I arrived to find my 6-, 7-, and 8-year-olds outside the dojo, completely unattended and unsupervised. This was not only irresponsible but also dangerous. I trusted this program to provide structure and safety for my children, but instead, I found them running around unsupervised, putting them at risk. Another issue arose with the attendance stickers that are given out to eventually earn achievement medals. Since I wasn't present, Master Kang would hand these stickers directly to my children, who, as small kids naturally do, often lost them before I arrived. When I asked for replacements, he refused, saying they were "too expensive" because they were imported. How is it acceptable to deny a child a simple sticker, knowing they are young and likely to misplace it? This lack of compassion and flexibility was incredibly frustrating. Then, life took a turn. I lost my job and could no longer afford the program. I informed Master Kang and requested to cancel my membership, explaining that I had to move out of state. The school demanded proof of my move, so I provided a lease and a utility bill. However, they rejected my documentation over a minor technicality--listing my name at my new address still tied to my old driver's license. Despite my best efforts, they refused to accept even my utility start-of-service notice as valid proof. How was I supposed to provide a finalized bill for a future address before even moving in? This requirement is not only unreasonable but feels like an intentional barrier to keep charging me. Now, they continue to bill me, even though I have done everything in my power to prove that I have moved and can no longer attend. At this point, I feel deceived, exploited, and robbed in broad daylight. Where is the integrity? Where is the humanity? Master Kang is a businessman and a family man--yet he is treating a struggling mother with zero empathy, prioritizing profits over basic fairness. I am demanding that my membership be canceled immediately. I refuse to pay for a service I cannot use, especially one that has already failed to provide the safe environment I was promised. If this matter is not resolved, I will have no choice but to escalate this through consumer protection agencies, public reviews, and legal channels. I hope Master Kang and his team choose to do the right thing. What I am amazed at is Master Ahn's ability to tap into every child's desire to succeed, and accomplish what is needed. He can reach the frail, beaten, and insecure, the pampered and indulged. He pulls from them what is required, what is expected of them. "What they must do." "They must reach inside and pull from within to accomplish, stand strong and defiant when facing strength. Master Ahn has perfected a curious combination of gruffness, speaking truth to every situation; be it criticism, instruction, or praise. Students learn to take criticism for what it is, a tool needed to achieve a goal, sometimes rising from failure, to achieve that goal. There is an understanding that doing what is demanded of oneself is expected. Proper form and order are essential. Yet it is not all that is required; desire, boldness, and savage determination to protect oneself are required at times. Students are taught to be kind, helpful, and encouraging to others, as well as to determine when a stronger, protective reaction is called for. Master Ahn will sustain a solid influence in the lives of my grandchildren. As a teacher for 30 years and a coach for 11 years, I highly recommend his classes.

As a result, the students still appear to be at the same skill level as they were on Day 1, with minimal improvement or development. I would appreciate a more structured and engaging training approach that helps students build their skills and confidence over time. Most of the time, the mentors do not appear to be actively supervising the children. They are often walking around without paying sufficient attention to the kids' behavior or correcting their mistakes. This lack of active engagement is disappointing and leaves me feeling unhappy with the overall supervision.

What we love about this institute 1. Small family run institution, with 1:1 attention given to each child . A lot of other institutions are too big and commercial . Mr and miss Vasquez are very invested and approachable - I am able to discuss my child's progress and understand his growth areas at all points 2. A safe environment I can trust my kid with - a lot of staff dedicated to safety of kids and ensure all kids feel safe and respected 3. Nurturing a community , focus on life skills - they focus on teaching kids valuable life skills.
