I previously had cameras done by someone in New York. I forget the cost, but it wasn't anywhere near the $3800 that paid at SW LOCK. My only complaint with that person was that when the cameras were no longer streaming from my phone, they didn't want to help fix it. Other than that the cameras were installed perfectly. No wires were showing the customer service was just not there and the cameras lasted 15 years. Fast-forward to October 2023 I reached out to SW LOCK to get cameras installed. I reiterated the fact that I've had trouble with previous camera companies and their customer service. I received an estimate for $3800. Yes, I know I'm stupid for even considering paying that price but at that time they were so convincing that they were going to help and be available when needed. So I spoke to Choncy who told me labor is guaranteed for a year. The cameras were guaranteed I believe 90 days. At that time since I told him I've had problems with previous installers he said just called us and we will be available. Jason came to install my cameras and he did a horrible job. All the camera wires are exposed, not like my last installer who hid the wires in the walls. He even made a hole inside my hardwood floors to pass along the wires to the basement, which I 1000% believe it was not necessary for the fact that the same cameras wires were passed down through the basement with the last installer and he didn't have to make any holes on my floor. When I saw that all the camera wires were exposed I told him we have squirrels the wires can't stay like that because the squirrels chew up the wires he said no no it's OK. We're gonna cover them and these cameras are meant for outside, so everything will be fine. And I took his word for it because they told me if anything was to go wrong, Just call them and they would help. Fast-forward to March 2025. I contacted Choncy to let him know that two of my cameras went out and I was about to go on vacation. He told me he had to take care of a few other contracts, but he will get back to me two weeks pass and he didn't get back to me so I go on vacation with my cameras still not working. When I got back, I followed up with Choncy to find out what's going on. He sends Jason back out. Jason goes through the regular troubleshooting that anyone can do plug it in unplug it, call the one 800 number, & now he has to go get his computer. Honestly it was a waste. But Jason comes back and says it was that cameras were bad but the warranty is up so he's gonna have to order new cameras and I have to pay for them but it's OK because they're going to give me a discount. I would understand and appreciate purchasing new cameras out of discount if the cameras weren't installed the way they were. He said these cameras were made for the weather. I told him the wires cannot be exposed because we have squirrels who chew up the wires. He said it's OK. He's gonna cover the wires yet. The picture is attached of how he covered up the wires. The wires got chewed up. The 2 Cameras are all rusted. I believe he just doesn't know what he's doing. He couldn't figure out what was wrong with them so now I have to spend more money to fix the problem. To top it all off the only way that I keep getting an update is because I keep having to call them to find out what's going on. So anyone else who has no idea what they're doing or is wondering about buying and installing cameras just go to the store and buy them yourself and install it yourself unless you want work like this. And a squirrel ate one of my camera wires so that camera and the wires are gone. read more

The deadbolt lock on the entrance door to my house broke. I called SW at 9:07 AM and before10:00AM John, the locksmith arrived and got to work. He changed the lock with a new one . I bought a keyless/combination deadbolt lock here recently. The guy was very nice and told me if it didn't fit my door or if for any reason I wasn't happy with it I could bring it back. When I got home I followed the instructions to set a combination. The lock was their cheapest combination lock. So I didn't expect it to be awesome. But for over $120 I did expect it to at least function. However, it didn't. The instructions said to take off the back of the lock where there were 13 little holes, covering 13 little knobs you could turn to set the combination. The holes were supposed to have little springs attached to them. But when I took the back off all of these little springs came flying out and landed all over my floor! It was a nightmare. They were so small it was impossible to put them back on. So I took the lock back. When I got there the man I had talked to a couple of days earlier wasn't there so I had to talk to somebody else. When I told him of the problem with the springs, he immediately started telling me that I had done it wrong! (Sorry but there was no other way to do it). So I opened the box, pulled out the lock and showed him. Finally, he relented and agreed to take it back and give me a refund. But he was clearly upset about it and acted kind of snotty towards me about it - as if I had ruined the good day he was having prior to my coming in! I know they don't make the locks - they only sell them. I also know they're a small business and I like to support small businesses in my area because usually they're friendlier and more personable (but not so with SW Lock). Apparently they prefer to deal with professional contractors and supers and not so much with the general public... although they're open to the public with a retail storefront location on a busy street. Anyway, because I still wanted to support my local neighborhood locksmith I was willing to give them another chance. I told him I'd be interested in buying one of their more expensive keyless locks. I looked at a few and selected one and he said they didn't have it in stock and they'd have to order it. That was 3 weeks ago. I'm still waiting. He told me he'd place the order and call me later that day just to confirm. When he didn't call that day I started to get a bad feeling. I had a weird feeling that he just wasn't going to order it. Probably saw me as a risky buyer - maybe he thought I'd bring it back too. He also told me that day the new lock would be in within 10 days. After two weeks had passed, I didn't even bother to call them about it. I just went online and bought the same lock from somewhere else (for $75 less). I did business with them a few years when I first moved into my current apartment. And I always thought they were friendly and helpful. But this experience has really soured me. I just don't like being treated like a nuisance because a merchant's product is a piece of crap. They could have warned me that it was, but they didn't. In fact, they didn't show at any time either at the point of original purchase or the time when I brought it back, that they knew anything at all about this lock - that they display prominently on their counter. I was very surprised and disappointed with their product knowledge and their poor customer relations skills. If you're buying a standard old-style lock, they know all there is to know about them (because there's not that much to know)! But if you want a new modern keyless lock - forget it. They know absolutely nothing about them - even though they display them prominently on their front counter. read more
