Succinctly stated: 24/7, vast, clean, huge selection of cookware, produce, proteins (meat, fish, seafood), ethnic centric goods, all purpose groceries - amazing budget friendly prices! Happily savored their fried chicken while on the Kingston ferry back to Edmonds! Omg, some of the best juicy fried chicken experienced. 5 drumsticks & 5 thighs for under $10, are you kidding me??!! Has great variety, popular, and useful Filipino-centric goods too. I enjoyed roaming every aisle and department. Wished there was something like this in Shoreline. We come here for many cultural items. We usually find everything we need. Today we didn't find the bread we were looking for. No Bolillo, or any other similar bread options for tortas. But we left with Mazapán and Concha pan. Even though we didn't find what we needed today, we will come back for all the other great cultural options. read more

Their prices are not competitive but they do have a wider variety than most. Always loved shopping here and their prices but their customer service has been nothing but extremely rude, if you're going to have people at the checkout make sure they are properly trained on customer service etiquette. I was so taken back by how I was treated I had to talk to their manager on duty. read more

Easy and convenient place to stop into on my way home from work or if I'm forgetting something for a recipe. Sweet employees always working their tails off especially the tall brunette with loooong straight hair in a high pony. She gets through those lines like it's nothing. A VERY Large venue, staked to the max with fresh vegetables, produce, and cold products at very reasonable prices. This was our first visit but not the last! Whenever traveling westbound on Hwy 16, we will always divert upon our return trip home to shop. Bring your cooler and plenty of bags. Really glad they re-opened this store, the location is bigger and less dingy than the old Port Orchard location. Saars is a puzzling store that sells discount groceries but is very well stocked with Asian and Mexican goods. Seriously. My family never really goes to the typical grocery section... we stay in the aisles of international foods that they carry. You'll find all sorts off chili sauces, fish sauces, seasoning packets, dried spices, canned tropical fruits, and different types of rice noodles from pancit canton to vermicelli. Not just canned or dried goods, but they have a lot of Asian products in their frozen and refrigerated section as well! Need miso paste? Kimchi? Frozen hum bao? Frozen cassava or eggroll wrappers? Yep, they have you covered. I also like buying Japanese candies and cookies here, as they are well stocked with a variety of Pocky and Meiji products. Lots of Filipino branded snacks here as well, they even sell pan de sal from Delite bakery in Seattle! Pretty much a one stop shop for Filipino moms looking to cook up palabok, pancit, calderata, etc... all those ingredients can be found here. This place is a god send for the Asian community in Kitsap County, particularly the Filipino community. While we make due with our small mom and pop Filipino stores, it's nice to have a large grocery store well stocked with Filipino goods. Not all of us can afford to drive out Seattle for Island Pacific or Seafood City. Heck I don't recall there being a Ranch 99 on our side of the Sound as well. Also... you don't come here for fresh produce or organic foods... granted, there is a section for that at Saars, but there is a Trader Joe's and Central Market for that purpose. They also have a meat and seafood section which seems decent... interesting finds were frog legs and octopus. Hmmm. read more

I cook up a lot of Asian stir fry dishes in my wok. Saar's as an extremely good Asian foods section, and they also carry some hard-to-find Chinese produce. In fact, I think their Asian foods section is second only to Central Market in the county, and their prices are lower than that store and the Asian markets in the county. Just this past week I found a great substitute for a specific oyster sauce I was trying to hunt down. The brand's ingredients were very similar to what I was looking for, and the price was amazing. The store also features a large, fairly comprehensive Mexican foods section. Plus the employees are very friendly as well. I once called to ask if the store carried a particular brand of Mexican chocolate and the clerk took the time to confirm it was on the shelf for me. Try that with the chain supermarkets in the area. It was a big loss to Port Orchard when the store closed down there. I am SO happy they reopened in Bremerton. read more

Wandered through store and couldn't find bakery section (usually the easiest thing to find). Tried to ask a cashier who was in between customers but he was too busy expressing his political views to the previous customer. Then an employee wearing anime head phones walked toward me and I tried to ask her. She made direct eye contact with me, had to have seen my lips moving, but ignored me and walked into the employee break room. She came back out shortly after that and I tried again. She intentionally ignored me with a smirk on her face. Wtf? Needless to say, I will not be returning to this store. read more

They have GERMAN chocolate, YES!!! and MUCH MORE! They have TONS of space though out the store to get lost in their goodies! Like the other reviews have said the produce area is lackluster. Today I went shopping here and didn't check any of the heads of lettuce I bought. When i was putting it away at home I noticed that both heads had a great deal of brown on the bottom and were already started leak. Also while testing the tomatoes found many that would squish and squirt at the slightest pressure. You have to be weary of their produce section, you have to look and test to find the good produce. Outside of the produce section I can't find much fault with the products they have, other than that the western grape soda is weakly flavored. I love their fish selection and every time I go here I have to get some cod fillets. Only problem with that is that today they were hidden under salmon burgers and I had to dig for them. The frozen section is the main point of the store for my relatives and I. Saar's is a lot less of a hassle than Winco. The store arrangements can be confusing, they have the bread and candy sections at the right side of the store, not in an aisle, instead of in the middle or close to the front as other layouts have them. You will have to get use to having the layout being different than other grocery stores. The store also has a punch card program for a free Thanksgiving dinner when you buy x amount. Been going here for the last month and a half and currently 50 dollars off of the amount required. Since I live in Manatee there isn't a reason to drive by Saar's to go to Fred Meyer, to drive across town to Winco, or to go all the way out to Safeway/Walmart. It is more convenient than the other stores for me and the negatives aren't enough for me to drive somewhere else. Edit: Went to this store today, the lettuce was in a worse shape than my last visit about 2 weeks ago. The lettuce was brown and running, it seems the store has no quality assurance. read more

I gave Saar's a terrible review previously but now I must correct it somewhat after returning at a later date, and must give it more stars. When they first opened the veggy section wasn't as good as it soon became. They STILL have the problem of leaving veggies and fruit out until it rots, so you have to take some "hunter/gatherer" care not to just grab something and discover later you came home with something you can't eat. Today I found only one fruit sitting in its own rotten juice, several that were so over ripe they weren't likely to be any good, and lettuce which was turning black on the underside, definitely been there a while. AND YET the choices of veggies was large, the varieties include some uncommonly encountered things. So you only need to be paying attention as you select to get only what's fresh. You'll love the broad produce selection. The same problem of not believing in expiration afflicts the dairy sections. Be sure to read the expirations while choosing! Then you'll be fine. I'm mostly vegetarian so don't care about their large meat section, but when I passed it, I noticed a great stench of rotten blood. I'll leave it to meat eaters to check dates and be certain they're not getting something from whence that odor exudes. Many product lines that have (for example) three meat and one vegetarian choice, Saar's seems to skip the vegetarian choice, which is annoying to me. They're not unique in doing that though, and they definitely do have sufficient to keep me interested. For pricing, it's mostly pretty good. A few things I remembered prices for were much cheaper at WinCo. But largely they're either very competitive with the chain stores around here, or cheaper. And the highest praise goes to having such a large choice of Hispanic and Asian foods in the aisles. The "International" selections constitute a supermarket unto itself. I got so much great stuff in these aisles! And I will shop here regularly because of that. read more

I personally don't see how it could have less than 5 stars when it has great prices, a HUGE variety of foods including international/imported foods that are often hard to find (it's basically also an Asian & Mexican market), decent help/service, a huge parking lot, and unbeatable hours. True they don't have much in the way of organic fruits & veggies, but the way I see it if you're shopping at Super Saver it's more so for the savings anyway, right? Cheap foods. If you want the fancy stuff, make your other grocery stop Whole Foods or whatnot. read more

I shop there for their ethnic grocery selection. It's superb. Unfortunately their side departments lack quality. Every time I buy marked down items, I find out they are over a month expired. Make sure to check dates! Diary, meat, juce, etc. The sad thing is, when you mark down an item, you're checking the date and deciding if it should be scanned out or sold. Yesterday I found Cheddar Hillshire Farms Lil Smokies and Tropicana Orange juice from September 16th. Every time is a new surprise. Produce is a joke. I work as a produce clerk and don't understand why that garbage is out. Radishes were sponges. Every roma had a black spot on it. The greens were wilted. Its as if the produce clerks aren't trained to condition and cull. None of the associates say anything to you when you are near them. They don't randomly offer help like higher end grocery stores do. Very similar to a WinCo experience. I bought a family package of pork chops and each one was 1/4" inch on one side, and 2.5" on the obverse side. I had to overcook them in order to make sure the thicker ends were done. I only shop here for long dated packaged items now, as they still have ethnic choices at least. read more

Lots of choices here at rock bottom prices ! It is a real Super Discount type of grocery store. I believe this store moved from Port Orchard. I really like the new set-up and remodel. The staff seems pretty friendly and helpful. There's a Deli Area with Fried Chicken Specials as well as other assorted fried foods. A Big Fresh Fruit/Vegetables section. They have a large Hispanic & Asian area with items that are not available at a lot of other area stores. They just seem to have a lot of "Off Brand" items (Western Family, Mrs. Freshley's, etc., etc.), which are very good items at bargain prices. Worth a stop from time to time. read more

I went in to look for some Manchurian noodles. Mind you they usually sell for roughly 34 cents a cup before Covid. I went in a couple of weeks ago because everyone was out. Have a great selection of Mexican and Asian food that I normal do not find at other big grocery stores in the area (WinCo. And Safeway). However, the price is usually better than Safeway, however WinCo has the same or better prices for the other foods. Also they open 24/7 which is a plus. read more

I knew it! I just knew it! When they first opened this place it was phenomenal. Now...not so much. When you walk in the first thing you see in the produce section is a table of rotting fruits being sold at a discount. They really shouldn't be sold at all. The sad thing is, is that the fresh doesn't look too much better. On to the meat section...keep walking. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars rather than one is that they do have a great international section for spices. There are items here that are really hard to find in other places. read more

Our family was happy to get a corner market again. We've made the switch. We seriously go in just about daily to get something from Saar's Super Savers. One thing we love is well... Everything. Need to make a quick meal, head to Saar's, my husband and I love to cook, their Asian aisle is well stocked with noodles and fish sauce, some of our favorite Curry's and rice! In a bag. Mexican food aisle! Tamales for Christmas this year! Pork, chicken, beef! Masa! Check out their produce! a lot of the good old stuff but hibiscus pedals? For real? Cactus, spiky squash! Waste of time and money. Selection is limited. Quality is poor. Absolute let down. Purchased T-bone steaks, extremely tough, should of gone into the burger. Vegetables didn't make it a week and they were garbage. The only thing this place has going for it is the location, and that's only slightly closer than Fred Meyer. read more

This store has been our go-to for quality, inexpensive produce for a while now. They also have a great selection of Asian and Hispanic foods and ingredients. This is the first place in the US that we've been able to find good frozen pelmeni. The bulk food selection that they just added is an excellent addition, and really pushed them over the top from "the place where we get our produce" to "the place where we do all of our grocery shopping". I went there and found boneless pork chops , and lean ground beef that was on sale for 1.69 a pound each . Then went and bought western family yogurt for .38 each sweetfinally I found pinto beans for .89 cents I will be back to there store again read more

Buyer be aware! My review is in regards to meats purchased at Saars at 2900 Wheaton Way, Bremerton, WA. I found the meats purchased to be inferior cuts. I believe these discrepancies are purposefully hidden in the packaging. Of the country-style pork ribs I purchased, the fat was thicker than the meat. Of the chops I purchased the bone was nearly as large as the meat. Again, this meat is inferior. You think you are saving with the lower prices but you are paying mostly for bones and fat, and very little meat. Edit: Adding to my previous, I need to mention produce. I agree with other customers regarding produce quality. Zucchini did not make past a couple of days in the refrigerator before they got mushy. Apples were hard to find any without bruises. Honey Crisp apple was not of the quality I expected. The taste was not of a Honey Crisp flavor. I only eat Honey Crisp apples, so I know. It did not even taste like a Honey Crisp. Advertised bell peppers were half the size of any bell pepper I have seen. All around disappointing experience. read more

I am glad to see Saar's made it to Bremerton . Missed them when they closed in Port Orchard. when they had the grand opening I purchased a variety of meats . They are the only super market I could find that had Bacon ends and pieces . Talipia is twice the size of Winco talipia buck a pound 10 lbs or more for quick dinners. We have bought New York steak and groundup for chili and bought the already frozen package of chicken thighs for 5 bucks . No complaints. The spaghetti and breakfast sausage seems to be packaged on sight with no fillers . Prepackage jimmy dean sausage at Winco has cellulose for those of you who do not know what that is ? Sawdust. I think some of the complaints about produce are legitimate but in their defense I do not think rock hard tomato's, green banana's that turn brown in two days or overpriced under flavored last years apples that have been in cold storage (Winco) are a better alternative. Celery, cilantro, cabbage,sweet potato,potato have all been unblemished and not over rip. Ethnic foods are reasonably priced . Not sure about employee help yet. Winco , the last time I asked about a meat product from a gal behind the counter she said it was not her dept. they went home for the night and she could not help me. Asked for the manager and he could not answer my question on location of a item it took him and another employee to figure it out.
