Saba is such a cute spot that I can't wait to see what it looks like in the summer. Our waitress was very sweet and everything looked good on the menu. I had a basil drop which was basically a vodka lemonade drink and it was delicious. The salmon Benedict was good but the real winner was the carbonara. It was very creamy and huge portion. I'm glad my friend and I split it as you could easily be split between multiple people. I definitely overate but the food was all too good to not eat at the moment. Listen. My tastebuds must be set up differently. I've lived in Logan for 15 years. I remember when Saba opened. Never went. No real reason not to go-- just knew of other places to have Italian food that I enjoyed. Last night, my husband and I went to try it out. The vibes and ambience are immaculate. From the layout to the music. Top tier. Our server, Kate, was very nice. Service all around was great. We didn't get our bread, but things happen. No big deal. We started with the mussels. Sauce was good. Bread was crusty and soft. No notes. But those entrees. Oh honey. No. The chicken parm was rubbery. The sauce was bland. The mozz was low quality--no pull. The pork chop was also under seasoned. As well as the carrots that accompanied them. I really wanted to like this place. I have many Italian friends and have had many a sauce--this was not it. All the dishes we had lacked in some aspect of flavor and we were disappointed when none of the pasta options featured hand-made pasta which was disappointing considering this was an Italian spot. I still stand by my review a year later, this place continues to deliver. The chicken pesto gnocchi remains my absolute favorite. I've come here many times over the past year and I order it every single time. There were a couple of visits when the pesto was too oily, but this time it was absolute perfection. Another go-to favorite of mine is the Italiana pizza. The combination of fresh arugula on top of melted béchamel and parmesan is delicious. The truffle oil is faint, almost undetectable, but the pizza overall is still fantastic. The ambiance is always lively, but never too loud. Service is impeccable with speedy and attentive servers. We came here for a last minute dinner on a nice Friday night. We were able to sit outside and had great service, though they didn't do anything special for my birthday as noted in the reservation. The complementary bread was warm and soft. Our limoncello and drinks were refreshing - I got a mezcal cocktail. My friend and I shared the chicken special of the day, which had some prosciutto and Fontana cheese layer on top. This was delicious and also came with tasty mashed potatoes and broccolini. I added chili flakes when I reheated the leftovers. The Beets Salad had far more greens over beets- the dressing was too light and flavorless. I usually like light dressings/vinaigrette, but this one just didn't add anything to the salad. I liked the Burrata and the slight sweetness. My fiancé said the Bucatini Bolognese and Sausage & Peppers were just okay. Were our choices wrong? For the higher cost, we would've expected better than average food and flavors. read more

We made a reservation ahead of time and were seated without a wait on a Friday night. The restaurant has nice ambiance with warm, low lighting with bar and dining seating available. We went during happy hour so cocktails were only $6! We came here for their restaurant week $42 dinner, which included appetizer, soup/salad, entree, and dessert. Things started off rough with the appetizers. I ordered the burrata and my friend ordered the calamari. The burrata was good, but the calamari was a undercooked and the breading was falling off the calamari. For second, I chose the kale salad, which was absolutely delightful. The butternut squash and pomegranates went very well with the bitter citrus vinaigrette! I highly recommend this salad. My friend ordered the Caesar and greatly enjoyed their dressing made in-house. I chose the linguini basilico with prosciutto for an additional $10. This is the saddest cheese wheel pasta I've had. I don't think the pasta was warm enough to melt the cheese wheel. The pasta was overall very dry and was barely covered in any cheese. For most bites, it was flavorless.They were quite generous with the amount of prosciutto given, but even that could not make up for the horrible "cheese wheel" pasta. I was sad I had paid $10 more for this dish. The serving sizes are generous, especially for a restaurant week meal. I will note that despite the quality of the food, the service was great. There was a friendly staff that came to our table after each dish was served and asked for feedback. Once we told him about our undercooked calamari and dry pasta, he spoke to the kitchen and brought out the properly cooked dishes. However, the lack of quality control is greatly disappointing. For a nice restaurant like this, I would hope that they check to make sure the food is properly cooked before sending it out without having the customer telling them it's undercooked. Given my experience, I don't think that I would return to Saba. read more

Fantastic Italian restaurant located in Logan Square! My friend and I were blown away with the flavors-- we literally did not talk the entire meal because we were steady indulging. I think this is a mediocre Italian restaurant in Logan Square. I went during restaurant week with my friends, and the service was less than ideal. The waiter kept making jokes about my food allergy and saying things like, "did you have a reaction yet or do we have to call the hospital?" Myself, and my friends did not find it funny and found it rather irritating. The food itself was decent. I got the pasta Primavera for my main, and it was very good. Definitely the best part of the meal. The burrata was pretty flavorless and the salad was OK but didn't taste fresh. The restaurant was absolutely jammed in our meal took over 2 1/2 hours. Again, I'm going to chalk up to restaurant week, but I personally wouldn't return here. There are simply so many amazing Italian restaurants in the city, and this was extremely forgettable. Came to SABA Italian Bar & Kitchen for a birthday dinner. The restaurant vibe is nice - modern, upscale, and dimly lit. Our waiter was friendy, attentive, and often made lighthearted small talk. He mentioned the Sunday fixed menu which includes a choice of an appetizer, main course, and dessert for $38 and the option to add a bottle of wine for an additional $24. While that seemed appealing, I chose the seafood risotto, subbing scallops for shrimp. Presentation was great, but the dish had a strong seafood taste, overpowering the rest of the flavors. The pasta was cooked excellently and there were generous portions of seafood, but I couldn't get past the fishy taste. I tried a few of the other dishes and they were all better. As of April 2025, it's not easy to get to Saba because of all the construction going on along Milwaukee Ave, but if you're driving, you're in luck: there is free off-street parking directly across from the restaurant's front door. We parked and went in, and were seated at a table right by the window where, coincidentally, I could see my car in the lot across the street the entire time I was there. The atmosphere is that of a cafe, with a table-and-chair setup reflecting that. Also, you can expect much loudness as there is nothing on the ceiling, walls, or floors to absorb the sound. The place was maybe a third full around 630pm on a Friday and I still had to ask my wife to repeat herself a couple times. The noise must be deafening when they fill up. If you have trouble hearing people over loud environments as I do, beware. If not, no problem, I guess. I wouldn't know. We got a couple glasses of wine and some gratis bread. The bread tasted a day old but we powered through it and were offered another serving, which was way fresher, warmed up, and much better. So if you don't like your bread, let your server know and ask for a different one. My wife got the Farfalle Veggie con Verdura, and I went off menu to order a simple spaghetti aglio i olio. We both liked our dishes, although they went a little crazy with the chili flakes on mine and a couple bites made me rush to my glass of water to cool my palate. Gratis bread, three wines between us, and our respective entrees came out to $88 after tax before tip. That seemed pretty reasonable for a dinner for two. We did not have any appetizers or dessert. The people there were very nice. The waiter and the water server were both attentive and pleasant. I can see us coming back again at some point. read more

I had the great pleasure of going to Saba for my first time this morning and it absolutely exceeded my expectations. To start, I ordered the Sabarita which I enjoyed a lot and reminded me of a classic margarita (except tastier). To eat, I ordered the Arancini Benedict and WOW! It was quite honestly one of the best breakfast meals I have ever consumed. The arancini was absolutely perfect - crispy on the outside and packed full of flavor internally. The egg on top was delightfully fluffy with a perfect yolk run to match. And I cannot forget about the hollandaise sauce which absolutely completed the already tasty arancini/egg combo. As a sidekick to the superhero of the meal, I had diced potatoes which were cooked perfectly and were fantastic as well. I honestly will never forget this meal and already cannot wait to return to Saba because it was THAT good. Thank you, Saba, for not only a wonderful first experience but also an awesome breakfast brunch with my family. Do not pass this place up - if you do, you will absolutely regret it! read more

Came here for brunch, and I really wish we liked more of the food! For starters, the online brunch menu has bottomless mimosas advertised, but it wasn't until we got there that we were told they got rid of the bottomless months ago. We were wondering why it would still be listed on their website then, and we were told the person/company that's in charge of updating the menu hasn't yet. This was a little frustrating because that's the reason we decided to try Saba in the first place. Our waiter was super nice- we really enjoyed him and he seemed knowledgeable and friendly! Since there were no bottomless options, we just decided to do a bottle of champagne which came with a little carafe of OJ. For food, we were starving so we ordered the Blueberry Ricotta Pancakes to split as a starter. These pancakes were AWESOME. So fluffy, I loved the lemon compote it came with.. we all really loved this dish! For our main courses, we got the Denver Omelet, the breakfast burrito with chicken, and a chicken sandwich. The breakfast burrito.... didn't really taste like anything unfortunately. I liked the grilled tortilla, but the eggs and beans in there made everything pretty mushy, and it just tasted super bland. Even the salsa it came with didn't give it much flavor unfortunately. The denver omelet arrived and didn't have any ham. My friend was going to say something but then by the time we had the chance to she was already half way through since we were starving, so she didn't send that back. Overall.. we loved our waiter and the service, especially considering we had substitutions which is probably very annoying to accommodate. But the brunch food itself was so bland.. and the old menu still on the website is frustrating for people who are visiting this restaurant specifically for the bottomless brunch. It is possible that maybe dinner is better than brunch here.. the pasta options do look good! If I find that out I'll report back :) read more

Dinner with the family this evening and we let the kids pick. Since of late we've been on a run of picking tasty Italian restaurants, nieces wanted to carry on the trend. Traveled a little south to grab carry out from Saba. The order went as follows: Broccolini  Seafood linguini  Bucatini bolognese (kids) Fettuccine al fredo with shrimp! (special request) Linguini carbonara  Ceasar salad. Seafood selections and carbonara (linguini, hickory smoked bacon, grana padano cheese, egg yolk, rich white cream sauce) were best. Everything else, mid. Bucatini had great colors. A good host really sets the tone for the rest of the meal. The menu is extensive, and they offer a robust prix fix menu for just $25. The portions are full-sized, delicious, and well worth it. I started with the bruchetta, continued with the Arancini Benedict, and finished with the lemon sorbet. To say that the food was good wouldn't do it justice. You have to taste it to believe it. Italian is one of my favorite foods, so when my husband suggested it, I was all in. Saba isn't a red sauce restaurant with checked tablecloths and enormous portions you barely can make a dent in. Don't get me wrong, I love those too, but this is a more elevated menu. As a pescatarian, I always forget their pasta menu is rather meaty, but they can drop the meat from most dishes if asked. That's just what I did with the penne alla vodka. My diet was really good and my husband enjoyed his chicken Alfredo. The space is simple, it could easily appear to serve any cuisine.
