This place was a vibe. I want to preface that this place seemed to be sharing space with the bar next door, so I'm not sure what the relationship is between the two. This review speaks to both because they clearly are related in some way. I was there on a pretty slow night, but I could see this place being the weekend spot for the friends to come vibe, grub, and grab a few drinks. Lots of lounge seating, both indoor and outdoor. Outdoor lighting was a bit dim, but I get the dive bar vibe is in right now. Only L was that the service at the bar was pretty bad. Bartender was slow to take my order and get me my drink, on a slow night mind you. The staff inside the restaurant was great, quick to take my order and offer recommendations, and made my experience much more positive. Wow, what an incredible dining experience! The meal was absolutely phenomenal, and the service was top-notch. You can even order drinks from next door, and they'll deliver your food right to you--how convenient is that? I can't recommend the Cubano enough, and the fried pickles and party nachos topped with birria are a must-try! Sabertooth is a decent spot for food. I only say food because although Hope and Anchor is literally connected, they do not serve drinks from the bar. If you wanted to order a drink, you will have to either order at Hope and take it back or order at Sabertooth and eat it next door. Minor inconvenience but still worth mentioning. The food I did order was decent. The Mac and cheese, although had a creamy sauce, in my opinion could have used more flavor. The fries were very standard, but the crown burger I ordered was really delicious. The bathroom and restaurant noticeably had a few flies when I went as well. I understand I went during the summer and I usually let a few slide, but it was enough where it warranted mentioning in this review. Overall I had a pretty decent experience. I wouldn't recommend, but I appreciate having a vegan option that's not a salad. However, the vegetarian nachos (take off cheese to make vegan) were BOMB. So good! Highly recommend the veggie nachos. What a shame that I even have to do this. But it's unfortunately come to this. I was chewed out by their waitress for asking to speak with the manager after the very same rude waitress had failed to give us any menus or tell us that it's cash only. I was very disappointed. Why she would act in the way she did was promptly excused by their supervisor who said he sent the other waitress home and that made her get in a bad mood when the place got busy. Wow. I had been coming here for almost 2 years every week and even introduced my friends and co workers here. But the sad and rude treatment I got was totally unwarranted and apparently I was just a punching bag for a sore waitress who was having a rough day. That is the last time I will spend my money there. Sorry management. You need to hire people that understand that this is a service industry. Food is a service you provide but the staff can't be showing such disregard to basic courtesy. That really ruined my whole experience there. Ugh! Highly overpriced bar food. The plasticware was beyond flimsy, I couldn't even cut the lettuce in my salad without the "knife" and "fork" bending in half. The macaroni and cheese was drowning in oil. The Caesar salad dressing was watered down. The fried pickles were cooked in piles and raw in the middle. Greek salad was meh at best although the falafel was quite good. Made a quick dinner stop in El Paso, passing through to California, and found Sabertooth. We ordered the pulled pork tacos and the fish tacos. They were delicious, well cooked, perfectly flavored, had great texture, and such a kick of spicy. Cute, quaint place with fun vibes. The server (Mica) was friendly, helpful, recommended a few things, and was quick and responsive. Cool bar located next door, too. Would absolutely get tacos on the regular if I lived here. Sabertooth is consistently one of our favorites! We have tried so many menu items: Quinoa Lettuce Wraps, Nachos, Border Treats, Greek Salad, Falafel, Hummus Plate, Salsa Trio, Tacos, Burgers, French Fries...the list goes on. (So many options for vegans and non-vegans alike!) The food is always super fresh and flavorful, and clearly made with care. We are really looking forward to when life gets back to "normal" and we can sit inside again - the atmosphere is fun, warm, and welcoming, and we like grabbing drinks from Hope & Anchor to enjoy with our food. But for now, we're so appreciative of the safe pick-up option so we can keep enjoying delicious food (especially $7 burgers on Wednesdays!) during COVID. read more

Shame on us for waiting 2 years to eat here! We actually sat on the back patio of Hope & Anchor. This is where we get drinks and order food made a Sabertooth. The back patio was setting up an outside bar for their evening patrons. We ordered nachos and every nacho was full of ingredients! Very yummy. We ordered burgers. The rolls were toasted and the top was a bit burnt and did not detract from the flavor. They were very filling and so tasty. Our waitress was extremely helpful with the menu and some of her favorites and with purchasing beer from one establishment and food from another! We will return to try other items from the menu. A sweet hidden place and we will return! I regret not stopping here sooner! read more

Sabertooth gets four bangin stars mainly bc of its hip ambiance, good service, and solid taste and portion. It didnt blow me away but it left me satisfied. We have been eyeing Sabertooth for awhile... Being self claimed gastronaut, i enjoyed tongue tacos at Valentines (the restaurant before ST) and had mixed feelings about saying bye to tongue taco and hello to new hip approach to modern american/hip mexican food. The ambiance: very hip chic w punk twist... Mason jars and burlap curtains. People with long mountain beards with extensive display of tattoos sipping wine. It felt like seattle/austin in the middle of desert. Our server was nice, explained everything we asked and waited patiently bc we took really long time to decide. Also they have this partnership w hope and anchor (bar next door) so you can bring their drinks in here or bring your food there, etc. my only complaint is that music was bit loud in the beginning of the night so my husband and I couldnt really hear much of each other. Menu: i think this is something that could use an improvement... Nothing special. I thought w hipster approach they would be more creative w their menu... Just nachos mac and cheese burgers and torta. I think EP has enough restaurants trying to do the same thing (star kitchen, crave, toms). Thats just my two cents. Food: portion decent. Taste: chile relleno was ok. Not the best i had but i can see they were trying to be bit different.... But couldnt taste it beyond the fried food taste. Mac and cheese was good, smoky and complex. Pulled pork torta: money. Mexican spicy sloppy joe with fresh mango/apple on top... It was a good mix. Food allergies: When I came home, I was itching all over. Never had that before... BUT I tend to have a lot of food sensitivities, including gluten, msg, etc. So unless you are sensitive like I am, don't let that discourage you... I just wanted to let u know. Price: decent. I had to update this review because so much has changed menu wise since December. The decor that I love is still the same and the "reduce.reuse.recycle." way of thinking is ever-present. Before I get into the nitty-gritty about the menu, I do want to say that I've noticed that Sabertooth doesn't have staff, they have a family. Sure I've seen newbs come and go, but the ones that stay are added to that beautiful Sabertooth family. They work hard, but they're always smiling, laughing and generally having a good time. It's also worth mentioning is, this is a diner. Connected to Hope & Anchor. Where they also take orders from. If it's 9 pm or later, be patient. They get orders up the wahzoo and they cook to order. Sure some things are prepped beforehand, but there's still a cook time. If they were a stand-alone establishment with a huge kitchen and a team of chefs, I could understand expecting your food under 15 minutes after 9 pm...really consider all factors when going somewhere. Hot chocolate! Hot chocolate! Hot chocolate! Melting marshmallows making a marshmallow fluff topper. 'Nuff said. The nachos and pulled pork anything are still my absolute faves. And the falafel is so damn good! But they've added to the menu and along with additional items as both entrees and appetizers, they also have dessert! I've had the pound cake with strawberries that is served in a mason jar...absolutely love..., the chocolate chip brownie topped with ice cream...moist, gooey-ness so that's a hell yes...and I've had the Sabertooth Elvis! Let us take a moment for the heavenly dessert that is the Sabertooth Elvis............ Say yes to the Sabertooth Elvis! So what I'm assuming based on the name is that this is a play on the snack that Elvis loved...the peanut butter and banana sandwich. But what a lot of people don't know is he occasionally added bacon (I don't think he made these himself, but Elvis' crazy sandwich cravings are well documented) and jelly. And nowadays Elvis' or Elvis Sandwiches are made all over, but I've never had one like this. PB and J with bacon and bananas, fried up and laid on a fruit sauce, topped with ice cream. Do it! Do all of it! It's salty and sweet, fried on the outside, soft on the inside...what more could you possibly want in a dessert. If you get this after eating I recommend sharing because it is a lot. I've also tired a number of other things on the menu since my first review like the mac 'n cheese, hummus, steak sandwich, and porkchops. All delicious musts. I would describe the mac 'n cheese as a grown-up pasta. I believe it's made with a white cheese and topped with breadcrumbs and baked which is time saving on their part since it can be prepared ahead of time. Yummmm! And if you really want extra cheese, I'm pretty sure you could request it...but try it first. The hummus is yummus! I have gotten this at lease 4 out of 5 of my last trips. Sprinkled with paprika and a small amount of oil, served along side carrots, celery, and pita. The pita is so good and when ordering this I usually try to bring people that don't like hummus so I don't have to share. The steak fajita sandwich is a top contender for my stomach every time. It's juicy and flavorful and super filling. And the porkchops! I'm not sure if the porkchop is grilled or pan fried, but either way I love it! It comes on top of a bed of greens topped with an apple slaw and if you've never experienced the deliciousness that is apples with pork, this is the place to be introduced to it. Sabertooth will forever be a hometown fave for me and I'll end this review how I ended the previous one, "Seriously love the people, love the place, love the food. My cousin and I recently visited El Paso this past weekend. We were intrigued by the name of this place. So, of course, we had to stop by! It's connected to a bar so there were a couple drunks in the parking lot LOL. But we ordered two different burgers and, they were absolutely amazing! Served with hand cut fries. We definitely recommend stopping by. However, they don't serve alcohol here if that's what you're into. But you can just pop over next door and grab whatever you want. There drink choices are Mexican sodas, tea and fresh lemonade. We both ordered a tea. I have no complaints whatsoever. read more

Part of what makes Yelp great are the brutally honest, only the facts ma'am reviewz, so it is with a heavy heart that I say the food here is not good...at all. I wanted to LOVE this place and I simply don't. The ambiance is great! The music is great! The staff is interesting looking and the place appeals to me - aesthetically speaking! Added plus: in the age of Instagram, the food photographs beautifully! However, it just doesn't taste good. The menu sounds so good! The food looks awesome when it arrives! Then, I just have a mouthful of disappointment. One star for the good food photography and aesthetically pleasing surroundings. Another star for the Mexican soda. No stars for the deceptive food that looks great and tastes meh. No star for the prices, which the food doesn't warrant. No star for our crappy wait service that included needing to ask a million times for drink refills, cutlery, napkins. My first long awaited trip here landed my girlfriend and I a steak fajita sandwich, pork tacos, nachos and root beer float. Everything was delish and the tacos had some heat to it, the second time I ordered the tacos and they were good but sooooooo hot I had sweat on my forehead and back of the ears..but I would eat them again IF they were not so spicy. The fajita sandwich is good, but just feel like I should get something more for $12 then a small sandwich I dig the location, the decor, and the staff is ultra friendly and attentive. Some of the hot sauce bottles were in need of a cleaning as they didnt have any caps and the sauce had dried up and been sitting on the bottle for what appeared to be months. It needs more consistency and come down on price for that sandwich ;) or add something on the side. read more

There's nothing I personally dislike about Sabertooth. In fact, this is my favorite place in the city right now. Inexpensive, compared to restaurants of similar caliber, and wholly unique, I LOVE Sabertooth. Thus far, I've been here for lunch and dinner (on the weekday for dinner however) and sat both inside and out. I prefer to sit inside, but the patio is gorgeous and eclectic. Very lovely for a cloudy evening. Their chile rellenos are dead good. Trust me. The pulled pork tacos also a favorite, as the reviews say, but are a tad too spicy after a while of eating them. The hummus is too mild for me but delicious nonetheless. Their nachos are legit. The portobello is good in my opinion for a portobello, but definitely get a side or a snack if you are starving. One last criticism, the jalapeño burger is good but they didn't ask how we wanted it cooked. Not good for the picky eaters out there. Sure, the wait can be a little long, but their food is high quality and executed well. Love it! Stick around for awhile. :) read more

I will give the food/menu 4 stars, but the service 2 stars - 3 in average. It is a little shack serves yummy small eats with OK price. The place is cramp and filled with greasy smoke due to the poor ventilation system. They are seriously understaffed in a Sunday night, and we had to wait for like 10 minutes to get our check, then the waiter did not come back to take it for another more than 10 minutes. read more

Had the El Jefe w no chorizo and it was a fresh home made patty with green chiles avocado sauce and sweet sautéed Instead of the fries I had the homemade chips and they were crispy!!! The location has average parking and limited table seating but plenty of counter space. I love the open kitchen set up and everything is fresh prepared in house and huge!!!
