This our 2nd time here and this time we came for breakfast. Ordered 2 small menudos and 1 chile relleno and 1 bacon and egg burritos. Service was okay, it appears one of the servers normally doesn't work a Sunday shift so had to find out about a couple of items...other than that it was service. The menudo was skimpy - hardly no meat and the burritos were okay, the Chile relleno Burrito was smothered in beans and I had to use my fork and knife to eat it and no salsa on the side was provided for the burritos. I do suggest trying it out and you decide! Nice looking restaurant, maybe for bar and drinks since it is a cantina too. Enjoy! read more

Yvonne's has quickly become one of my favorite Mexican restaurants. It is located in the former Casa Jurado location. The restaurant was updated and the new layout is a big improvement! For starters, the salsa and chips are a hit! The salsa is consistently spicy, but may be too spicy for some. Last visit, they brought a small cup of lentil soup. It had a tasty, comforting broth along with celery and carrots. The Caldo De Res has several pieces of meat and chunky vegetables. The Albóndigas are so delicious, they have become my favorite! They come with several meatballs, and chunky vegetables. The broth is quite Spicy but makes the soup addicting. The Albóndigas soup comes with 2 quesadillas that accompanies the soup perfectly. I have tried the Mexican plate and tacos. They are good, but the real stars here are their soups ! The only reason I don't give Yvonne's a 5 is that the service Can be off sometimes. Other than that, the food is just as good as homemade. read more

Really nice design inside and service seems a cut above. I ordered the steak picado and unlike Ay Caramba down the street it's actually steak instead of what was there very close to ground beef. Rice and beans average. You get chips and salsa but strangely in my case I had to ask for them, that was a minus. A bigger minus was the coffee which was about as flavorless and weak as I've ever had anywhere. The steak picado had a smoky aroma and flavor although I suspect it's not natural, although not unpleasant. So I'm deducting one star and it's four stars since I was tempted to go back in the kitchen and see if there was a bottle of liquid smoke and mostly to see if they had a selection of brown crayons for dipping in hot water to make the coffee. read more

A pleasant surprise that we came across during a lunch with colleagues. Tucked away on Doniphan in a shopping center, just around the corner from other well known dining options in that area of town. The pre meal vegetable soup was a nice start, along with the chips & queso appetizer. I chose the gordita plate and was not disappointed. Three ground beef gorditas with the regular lettuce, tomatoes and shredded cheese. Served with a side of refried beans and rice. Service was a little slow, but not enough to impact the rating (for a one-time occurrence). Didn't get pics this time around - maybe next time. read more

Loved this place! The food, service, and ambiance were great here! My mom was slightly challenged by the amount of spice/heat in every dish, especially the salsa they bring with the chips, but she's sensitive to spice anyway. I enjoyed it and was happy to not have to add extra hot sauce to my meal! The flavor of the enchilada sauce was also more complex than Mexican dishes I'm used to. Maybe a little sweeter? Again, I loved it! The Limonada aqua Fresca satisfied my pregnancy craving immediately and my mom thoroughly enjoyed her margarita. Our server, Hector, was a treat! This has been on our list to try since they've opened. We had been told by a few people that it was good. We opted to try the guacamole and chicken fajitas. We enjoyed our meal. It was enough for us to share. The one thing I wish they would do, is to opt to give smaller flour tortillas. They give the large ones, and they're just too big! They also offer beer and wine. Some things here are great. Like the albondigas and tacos. Today I had Huevos rancheros and not so good. The eggs were covered with a tasteless pico de gallo type sauce that left water all over my plate. The eggs were too runny and the hash browns cold even though I saw the plate being put on the counter and immediately served to me. Not a speck of cheese. been here many times. I checked out a new Taco Tuesday spot. Yvonne's has crispy shelled tacos for $1.50, Tecates for $2 and live music on Tuesdays. A neighbor on the Nextdoor app recommended them and I went to check them out since Adventure Zone tacos are the same price now and I wanted to try different ones. The front entrance is shaded by a big tarp and honestly if I wasn't looking for it, I would have mistaken it for the BBQ joint next door. Inside is a revelation. It's beautiful. So tastefully and elegantly designed; it was a nice surprise. I found out later from our waitress that the owner designed the Blue Indigo hotel so it makes sense. There are locals that come and get their huge $5 margaritas, but I was there for the $1.50 tacos. They provided chips and salsa and when I mentioned to the waitress that the food reminded me of Lucy's, she said that the machaca and the Tlalpeno soup and Tacos Antonia are very similar since the owner are cousins of the owners of Lucy's. The $1.50 tacos were very generous. I ordered 2 deshebrada (shredded beef), one potato, and 1 chicken. The beef was juicy and flavorful, my favorite but the portions were big so I had to take one home. The potato one was flavorless so I wouldn't get that one again. The chicken was a surprise and I can see why it's one of their favorites. The meat wasn't dry and it was mild but had a great taste. They have live music at night and even though I came around 5pm, it was getting busy as regulars seem to come in from the cold to enjoy the meals. The waitress said they just renovated and was called something else 3 years ago and the neighborhood across the railroad tracks embraced them and supported them so they were lucky. I think it's cause of the good food and friendlier service. I'm looking forward to coming back with guests and out of towners since they have a great combo of service, style, and authentic down to earth El Paso style food. Things I've never heard of outside El Paso like Tapatias (like a tostada?) Come check out their generous Taco Tuesday and stay for their other items and ambiance. I did. read more

We came for a second try. This time we got Michael as our waiter. Great service again. Came by several times and made consistent eye contact without intruding too much. I hate when they stop by so often that it's uncomfortable. He would look at me and establish eye contract. Perfect!! Place again was very clean. Love the look of it. The music in the background was perfect. Nice mix and on just enough to hear it, but you could still talk without yelling. Again, perfect!! This time we got the steak tacos and the chile rellenos plate. Excellent!! The chips again were thin and crispy, EXACTLY they way I like them. Salsa was very tasty. The beans were very, very good. Stopped here for breakfast on our way through El Paso. Definitely would come back here again. We had the pancakes and the Machaca with beef. Both were amazing. You probably the best pancakes I've ever had at a restaurant. The Machaca comes with your choice of shredded beef or chicken, two scrambled eggs, tomatoes, green chilies topped with chili con queso served with beans, hash browns and a tortilla. It had just the right amount of heat but you could still taste the flavor of the eggs and the tomatoes and the beef. The tortilla was fresh and fluffy. The pancakes were amazing as well, light and airy. Can't wait for our next trip to El Paso to come back and try something else. read more

I looked at the menu on the website and the price of the French toast combo was $8.99. I called and placed my order to be picked up. When I arrived my order was incorrect it wasn't the combo so I had to wait. When it was ready the price if the combo was $10.99 not the menu price. When I took the French toast to my patient the toast was dark and deep fried. The eggs were also dark like cooked in the same dark oil. I personally would've taken it back but my patient wanted to go to church and ate a slice of the toast and a slice of bacon. I hadn't been to Yvonne's since last October 2023. And now I remembered why. I can make a better breakfast than they can. I really only went today because I saw a commercial on TV last night. I don't think I will be going there again. read more

I've stopped here a couple of times for breakfast and I've had the huevos rancheros as well as the machaca. It's definitely worth a visit just for the machaca which is delicious. The machaca is covered in Chile con queso which is the perfect topping for the machaca. The brisket and eggs are cooked perfectly and the meal is served with hash browns and beans which are amazing. The huevos rancheros were good but not my favorite in El Paso. The staff is always friendly and the food always comes out quickly. read more

The restaurant had one cook they said. One plate was served, not very hot, while the other two people at the table had to wait for theirs, seemed like 5 minutes. We ordered "world famous" chile con queso which was pure water. Tasted very funky. Returned it and waitress said it was not supposed to be that watery!!!! Second try and was a little thicker but in no way could one call it chile con queso!!!!! Just wet the tostada and had a very horrible look to it! We tried this place when it first opened. After having several friends really like Yvonne's and suggest I try it, 5 of us popped in rather late last night after a work meeting. The decor and furnishing are nicely done, the restrooms were well maintained and very clean, and the menu was broad and typical of the Norteño style food we usually see in El Paso. Our waitress was, perhaps, a bit distracted, but again, we were the last group to come in and the staff was beginning to prep for the end of their shifts. Fast forward a bit - Red chile combo plate? My friend loved it. Ground beef Taco plate? My friend loved it. Bean burrito for their daughter? She ate a lot of it (it's really big, but she did a good job.) My other friend had the Tacos Antonia plate and enjoyed 2 of the tacos - more below about her. I had asked if the mole was made in house or from a mix and was told that they make it. Awesome. Mole plate arrived, huge portion with beans and rice, and... Well... 2 corn tortillas... But the mole was really very delicious. The beans however? It was end of the day and they were really kind of burnt tasting and so over salted I couldn't eat them. The rice, likewise, had seen better days. It was decently seasoned, but almost like fried rice in texture. It had been kept hot much of the day, dried out, and then maybe had extra oil added to refresh it? It was kind of a hard, greasy mess. In any case, beans and rice were secondary and the mole was very tasty. After asking for more tortillas, I ate 5 nicely stuffed corn tortillas and knew I was done. The remaining mole would be nice for lunch, right? My friend who ordered the Tacos Antonia and I both asked for a small to-go container which was promptly provided. We all chatted for a bit more and started heading out. Right as I passed through the exit, I started feeling a bit queasy. I have a nearly cast-iron stomach, so it rare for me to feel like this, but it had been a stressful week... I said a quick goodbye to my friends, explained that I wasn't feeling great, and walked across the parking lot to my car- where I proceeded to projectile vomit the entire mean promptly onto the pavement. Water, tissues, a peppermint all arrived from my friends and I told them I would be fine, I just needed a minute. My friend who had the Tacos Antonia and I stayed out chatting in the cool, breezy night for a bit, although she also began to feel queasy about 20 minutes later, but didn't throw up at least. I don't know if I was having an off-day or if something had genuinely gone bad in the food I ate, but I'm going to be hard to convince to go back anytime soon. read more

This little space occupied part of what was Casa Jurado. Decided to try it out. Most likely will NOT return. They did a great job on sprucing up the interior. Wish the good and service would have been better! Half a bowl of chips and a small side of salsa delivered by waitress. Ordered iced tea, Quedo fundido as an appetizer, and enchilada plates ( one with a side of French fries instead of rice and beans)as well as Chile rellenos with sauce on the side. Tea delivered and waitress left. No sugar on table, and the waitresses seemed to like hanging out chatting by the front door. Had to flag someone down to ASK for sugar. Queso fundido with chorizo came out. Table of three and ONE flour tortilla came with the appetizer. Queso was good, but one tortilla?? French fries arrived. Looked like they had been cooked hours ago - dry and slightly warm. Again, had to flag down a waitress for ketchup. Rellenos arrived. Dried over cooked ground beef on OUTSIDE, and no sauce on the side as requested. Then came an order of RED ENCHILADAS - no one at our table had ordered that. My own green chicken enchiladas arrived a short time later. The green sauce was swimming on the plate, and pretty tasteless. Then it was drowned in what looked like canned queso. I was very surprised to find the chicken inside was mixed with chopped tomato.... who does that?? It was edible, but not something to come back for. Meal for two halfway done THEN third diner's green cheese enchiladas arrived. If you are looking for GOOD Mexican food with GREAT service, you won't find it here. read more

After a friend had recommended this place, we decided to try it. We still miss Casa Jurado which was there before. They have done a nice job of updating it and everything was nice and bright. Wife had the green chicken enchiladas and I had the combo. We enjoyed it very much and the service was fine.
