I'm really glad to have found this spot for my cat, just wish there was a bit more communication/a tour of facilities but it's obviously Covid time and they're doing their best! Pros: 1. Very accommodating, I had less than a day's notice to find boarding for my cat and they worked with me to get things sorted. 2. Fairly priced 3. My cat hates boarding bc it stresses him out to the point of not eating or using litter-boxes for the first day or two, and mentioned as much at drop off. The cattery staff did a great job because he was eating and using the litter the whole time (3 nights)! Huge win for us and will be returning here if we need boarding again. Cons: 1. No info offered on arrival or intake form. It would have been nice to have a paper or something to make notes on and photos of where my cat would be staying. No tours or entering facility due to Covid, which is fine, but an alternative would be nice! 2. A update on how my cat was doing would've been nice since it was an expressed concern, but I should have asked for that. An intake form would have helped with this! Overall I'm pleased! read more

TLDR: THERE'S NO ONE THERE AT NIGHT! Terrible communication! If your dog has any kind of anxiety issue, please don't leave it here. I have a 3 year old rescue poodle mix with a history of separation anxiety and inability to tolerate being crated. When I first got him 2 years ago he hurt himself pretty bad trying to get out of a crate. I explained this to Erin twice - when I went for the tour and 10 days later when I called to make the reservation. On the tour Erin showed me the standard "suite" which is a long hallway with animal shelter-type chain link kennel and the "deluxe" suite which is a single block wall room with walled outdoor run. I told Erin he would need a "deluxe" suite and lots of human and dog play time due to his separation anxiety disorder. This place does NOT require a meet and greet with your dog. I left my dog at 4:15 pm on Thursday 2/9 and again asked for as much dog and human play time as possible. I did not have to sign anything or leave a credit card. The next morning, Erin called me to let me know that Max had a little scrape on his nose and that they didn't want me to be surprised by the injury at pickup. I asked her what happened and she said there had been a big wind storm during the night and that the morning feeder person found him bloody - he had been trying to get out under the steel door. That's when I first realized THERE'S NO ONE THERE AT NIGHT. When I picked him he could hardly walk. The bridge of his nose was badly scraped. His chin, lips and gums were badly injured. His toe pads on his two front feet were shredded - he was limping from the pain. He looked like he had been beaten down. I asked Erin why she didn't tell me there's NO night staff and she said "You didn't ask." AYFKM?? There is NOTHING on their website indicating they have no one there overnight. For my dog this was no "vacation," not a "resort," and he was not treated like "family" despite what their website says. And the vet bill was twice what the boarding fee would have been - at least. And FWIW my daughter's lab won't be back - my daughter was also shocked to hear there's NO ONE THERE AT NIGHT!!! read more

The reception we got when we dropped off our lab was not welcoming. No happy welcome for my pup. If we didn't have a flight the next morning I would have taken him away from this place right then. I SHOULD have researched this place better, as I finally realized any interaction with my lab was determined on how much money I wanted to lay down, with a 15 minute "limit" each time. Hmmm, a lot of hours without interaction. Nobody is at this facility at night. From what I can determine, at least an 8 to 12 hour span. Too bad if your pup needs to pee or poop in the early mornings... The photos we received during his stay showed littered material in the background during his play session. Looks like a chew toy totally chewed up. Not my pups toy. No concern for my pup to be choking on any of it. Made me wonder just how they really treated him. When we picked up our lab, the reception was about the same. Pay now, here's your dog. No conversation about how my pup did during his stay. Nothing! It was like I picked up a "stuffed animal"! Besides being very happy to see us, my pup was very thirsty when we got in the truck. Never saw him drink that much water in one sitting. I blame myself for not researching more. This place is a business and not a caring one. This was our first boarding experience. Now I know what to look for when choosing another boarding place. This one will not be on the list This place might be fine for daily boarding...but not overnight or long term, in my opinion. Also, the older receptionist needs some training on customer service. Don't be deceived by the exterior as this place including the staff are terrible! My Labrador came out with a hunk missing out of his nose. I brought his dog food that was pre packed in zip lock bags for each feeding and they charged to feed it to him. I requested a bath before pick up... just a bath and nothing more!! this Place was nice enough to accommodate us on short notice between Christmas and New Years when our usual vet kennel was booked. The website says the owner has a doberman, pug, and two other dogs so we thought it would be a good fit for my doberman who lives with pugs. at drop off a young man with a beard and woman with a newborn baby who said she was the owner took in my dog. my dog has never been around a baby or men with a beard and both can be triggers for dogs. my Doberman goes to our vet, the kennel at vet, a 2 week boarding school, and a groomer cones to our house, and he has never been aggressive. After about a half hour of driving to my destination, I received a call that my dog was showing aggression and I needed to turn around and pick him up. Upon arrival he was in a urine and feces filled triangular shaped outdoor "play area" that was about five feet by five feet at the most. The dog was essentially cornered in this triangle and when the man with the beard tried to enter my dog showed aggression. I don't think this would have happened if the real owner was there (The girl with the baby was actually the daughter and the man with a beard the son in law). Needless to say we are not welcome back nor would we want to go back. It would have been better if they would have just said they were full or don't take dobermans could have saved money, time, and unnecessary stress for me and my dog. I was not charaged by this kennel but I'm out the fees for the campground and missed my trip. read more

So incredibly disappointing! I have been taking my 5 lb Yorkie here for grooming since she was a puppy (8 years now) the last few times I noticed a decline in service and a raise in price but I kept going as my dog hasn't ever gone anywhere else. Today was the worst experience I have ever had and I will never return. They not only didn't tell me about a fee they added over the phone before coming with an exact amount plus a cash tip, when I asked about it I was treated so rudely by the girl at the front desk and she was holding back laughter when I told her how unprofessional this was. After leaving with my dog I noticed multiple cuts on her body that were still bleeding. Parts of the haircut were so uneven and looked terrible. Her paws were even scabby in some areas from the cuts. I am furious this has happened to her!! I have requested to speak with the owner and receive a refund, but overall just very sad I need to find a new groomer after 8 years. read more

My dog didn't say five words when I picked him up after a week's stay. But he still almost managed to speak more than the staff. The same young woman did the intake and outtake. In total she said less than three dozen words. She also forgot, or neglected, to register the extra treats and activities I asked for. So I'm going to assume that my dog had a place to sleep and was fed. And if that's all you need then I guess this is a kennel like any other kennel. In any event this is not the place to go if you want input about your pet's stay or a staff that at least pretends to care. Next time I'll use their competitor out on Tanque Verde. read more

This was my first time boarding my fur babies. I visited a few places before I decided on here. Unfortunately looks can be deceiving. Our dogs were there 3 days and 2 nights. I dropped them off with blankets and toys from home. Pepper loves her tennis balls and always has to have one, Bella loves chewing so I put in her chew toys. All new toys and not one of them were given the toys. When we brought them home they ran in and drank water like crazy, they never have done this before so I am concerned they did not get enough water. Bella couldn't poop and all of a sudden started pooping in the home after trying for ten minutes outside. Then they both got sick because they drank so much water. I am so sad because I asked for play time with other dogs and they said there was a miscommunication and only played with each other. They didn't even ask any questions about what they like or don't like. It wasn't until I got home that I say their poor score on Yelp. one of the worse. :( read more

Danger!!! Sabino Canyon Pet Resort almost lost or possibly killed my dog. I took my 8 month old Husky in in for day care. When I came to pick her up, I waited outside as per Covid restrictions. Then I saw her through the window loose in the lobby. Then the attendant opened the front door without putting the leash on my dog. She bolted out the door, and only by the grace of God, the bone-headed attendant got the leash partway hooked on my dog's harness. If she had gotten past him, she could have very easily ron out of the parking lot, and become lost or have run into the road and been hit or killed. The attendant's response "Oh, sorry. When I called the owner the next day, she blamed my dog for being "too active". If they can not handle an 8 month old puppy, what will they do to your pet. Do not come here!! read more

I stand by what I said last time. I was practically knocked over by a large Shepard that you lost control of. Our pup was not fed her food. She was a cement slab and was not attended to. I think my experience should be made known. This was an insafe environment for me and unhealthy for my dog who is now 2. So this happened over two years ago. The facts remain the same and and won't in good conscious recommend this facility. It was a nightmare. I ended up with a traumatized dog and a broken agreement and could have been injured by the dog who lunged at me. This dog stood on hind legs and reached over 6 feet. I am 5 10. It was very very scary due to the facility handler and owner not able to control an animal. That was my experience. Period. read more

Zero stars if I could give it! Disappointed is an understatement. We bring our dogs here regularly for a normal bath and brush and nail trim. In the past we have had a decent experience, but this time was not good at all. We have a beautiful Australian Sheppard and unfortunately there was some major disconnect and communication. When we went to pick up our dog to our surprise discovered they completely shaved our dog to the lowest possible setting on the trimmer that you could get and in several areas cut into the skin. He is completely raw to the skin in several areas. This is not at all what we asked for or is it services that we have ever had, so I would expect clear communication on such a huge cut on a fully haired dog. Our poor dog can't even lay down he is so sensitive to the touch. I was even more taken back that after reaching out and expressing my concern the kennel owner had an option call me back and instead had the front receptionist call me back to tell me that would refund the services. I'm more concerned about, how are you going to prevent something like this to happen again? What kind of training do you provide for your groomers to properly "groom" an animal? A groom or bath and brush are completely different terms used then "shave." Completely lost all my trust- not recommend by me! read more

I boarded my dog here 4 times and sadly the last time I left her there she came home terrified of anyone reaching to pet her. She's never flinched once in her 3 year old life and it took us an entire week to get her not to flinch when we were going to pet her. I feel terrible she went through something traumatic at this boarding facility. I wanted to trust this place because it's near my home but I would rather drive 45mins (which I'm doing) to board my dog than make her go through that again. Riley loves this place for doggie day care. From the moment we walk in Riley is greeted by happy faces and enthusiastic individuals. Riley tends to be shy with people at first, however he is now comfortable with the staff. When Rob is here to greet us Riley jumps into his arms. We have two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels...smallish dogs with a strong desire to be coddled and petted nearly every waking minute. We have boarded these dear pooches with Sabino Canyon Pet Resort several times when we've been on vacations. We also use SCPR for regular bath and brush. In each case we've been well-pleased. There are many services one can use for the boarding period: up to two playtimes a day with a staff member, outdoor potty breaks, treats, and snuggle time. We have only used the playtimes. They put our two dogs together so they can have each other's company (20% less for the second dog), and give them the food we take in for their easily upset tummies. It seems a little "spendy" ($22 for a standard room and $30 for a single suite for a single dog), but it is worth it for us to know the dogs are well cared for. (Though I feel one shouldn't be charged for bringing in one's own food and treats. I'd like to see them change this policy.) We have the dogs bathed and brushed before we pick them up so they come back smelling sweet ($25 each) as well as happy to see us. We will continue to use their services with confidence. read more

This is the only place we trust with our dog. We have left her with them many times and she is always happy to go there and happy when she leaves. They have lots of extra services than can keep your active while you're away rather than just be stuck in a kennel all day. Their grooming services are the best. I just picked up my dog from a 5 day trip for the first time and ER-maw-gerd! Its like they have exercised the DEMON! I didn't even pay for dog obedience, and my puppy.pup is sitting and staying, not FREAKING out and jumping all over me like a mental patient evertytime i walk in the door. He's like an entirely different dog for the better. I think he was either scared straight or a trainer got bored and just worked with him because he's 100% better than before. He's TRAINED, and i truly thought that only the ghost of cesar milan could ever break my stupid little beast. Either way, it was the best 200 bucks I've ever spent, and that was WITHOUT PAYING EXTRA for obedience classes. Pick up and drop off was a breeze, it's a cute little place, and everytime I called they knew me and my dog which led me to believe he wasn't locked in a broom closet for 5 days. All i needed was his shot record; they got him in within 48 hours notice.Best place in EVER! Already told all my homies who have dawgs. We did like the extra puppy play option due to our active dog. Upon pick-up, we asked how the stay went and the average questions, but their response to every question was, "Fine. He did fine." After clarifying questions and not receiving any more feed back, we left with our dog. After leaving the facility, we noticed scratches and hot spots on his butt, legs, and front paws, but there was no communication of why/how/when. I can understand not documenting everyone scrape and bump; however, he left with a quarter-size bare spot on his rear and required medication for a nikel-size sore on his front paw. read more

Can't speak to the kenneling side of the resort, but the grooming side is fantastic, they do a great job for a very reasonable price. It's the staff there that really shines! I have been to other groomers who like animals, but it's about the business, caring more about how many clients can be squeezed in than about the happiness of the animals who don't understand what's going on...here the staff really seems to *love* the animals and they happen to be in a business that let's them do so every day. Melissa is amazing! To say that one of my cats is a handful is an understatement (she's on anxiety meds) but she was fantastic working with us. The first time I brought them the anxious one worked both of cats up to a point that Melissa called me saying that she could continue but she was worried that it would create a bad experience for them. When I came back to pick them both up she gave me a few options (including telling me about a cats only moblie-groomer). After how much empathy she showed, I couldn't imagine trusting my fur-babies with anyone else! Scheduled two separate appointments for them and I couldn't be happier read more

Dog came back with a limp in the hind leg and seemed traumatized to some degree. Very co-dependent for a number of days after her stay. I have a feeling they don't live up to the treatment they purport to here. I'll be investigating this business a little more thoroughly in the coming weeks to examine their standard of care. We had an opportunity for a vacation come up at the last minute. The kennel where I usually board my 4 cats had no space. Several of the other kennels that friends suggested were also full. I found Sabino Canyon Pet Resort just by chance and they could take my cats. The guy who I spoke with on the phone first took all the preliminary information about each cat and was very efficient. Never having used this kennel before I wasn't sure what to expect upon arrival. I was extremely happy with how smoothly check-in went. They quickly checked the vaccination record for each cat, had me review their feeding schedule and medication for one of my cats. They even let us go back into the kennel area to help settle in each cat and show us their quarters. I couldn't believe how quickly and efficiently the whole process went. The kennel I used to use made the whole process such an ordeal. I checked with them a few days into our vacation and they were knowledgeable about each cat. I phoned about an hour before I picked up my cats, and when we arrived all their beds and extra food were bundled and ready to go so we only had to get the cats in their carriers. I would definitely recommend this boarding facility because their kennels are nice, they took great care of my crew and they were so efficient! read more

Let me just say although they may take care of your pets well (at least I think, because there is no proof of otherwise). I left my dog to be boarded here for the weekend and come back with a 200 dollar bill!!! Which is absolutely ludicrous (especially for a starving college student who can barely make due) 1.They hardly picked up the phone when I left my dog there. I called everyday I was gone and hardly got a response. Finally when I got a response I told them to let my dog play with other dogs ONCE a day... I was charged double (by the way) 2. I reserved for a deluxe room for my dog because I adopted him from the humane society and he has abandonment issues. This would be the first time I left him anywhere since I had him!!!! Of course I don't find out he is getting a different room until I finally got a response from them over the phone. 3.When they explain what you are charged for everything seems very cheap and good until you find out HOW MANY times a day they charge you that price... 4.NO manager was there to speak to me or help me and they wouldn't put me in contact with this person. 5.Yet another charge they did not specify was IF your dog needs meds then they will also charge you for that too! Alas, what should have been like 100 dollars turned out to be 200 ... The cherry on top being that they charged me extra to bathe my dog ... Which would have been fine if I hadn't had all the other charges I SPECIFICALLY said I only wanted once a day. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE unless you have enough money to put down a couple hundred dollars for a weekend. The staff at the front desk are not much help, they don't seem to care regardless. Thanks Sabino Canyon Pet Resort! I just got my three hairy dogs their 'warm-weather hairdos' and they look and smell great! Honestly, I love to take my dogs on vacation with me most of the time, but it gives me peace of mind to be able to leave them where I know they will be cared for, and will have fun with swim and play time.
