Hubby and I went for our annual eye exam and had the pleasure to meet Dr Valerie and Mauricio. They both were very personable, thorough and professional. The whole staff is a pleasure. Everyone takes pride in what they do. It's in the heart of Patchogue so after the appointment we have lunch in the town. Looking forward to returning when we pick up our reading glasses. read more

I have been wearing glasses since 3rd grade using many different opticians eye glass store along the way. I foolishly purchased a pair of glasses about a year and a half ago at the East Patchogue location. Today I went in for my first adjustment and was told that because they were more then a year old they would not be responsible for any mishaps to the frame. Those glasses cost me 1100.00 - yes I stupidly paid that amount and I own that. But what kind of business leads off with that kind of statement????? DO NOT EVER GO THERE. The technician adjusted them and I said they were still a bit off but she did not jump in to redo anything. I got so annoyed I left. read more

Doctor and eye exam was excellent but the sales department was not. I've been going here for years when it was Maz Optical. Now I live far away so I called for a price on the same progressives that i bought from them twice before. They gave me a good price on the phone but when I arrived the price was double. When I explained the phone quote I was told that was the last day that sales person worked so they would not honor the quote. They wouldn't even budge on the price even though I was willing to negotiate. Then when I asked for the prescription print out I was told "I gave it to you, it's in your hand" but no, it was sitting in their printer tray. As a first time patient I came to get something removed from my eye. Although it wasn't easy, they persisted and got it removed. Dr.Laura and sachem eye care provided a wonderful visit , and are extremely professional and knowledgeable. I will be coming back for my prescription eye glasses. read more

I would give it a minus rating if i could, bought two pairs of glasses, first pair i received a month later, second pair they claimed came but never called. I came in for them and they told me i took to long to pick them up and they "excessed them" and I forfeited my payment. Office manager was horrific through the whole ordeal and it was obvious to me that her dismissive behavior "tough luck buddy" which was backed up by the owner was clearly because of the way I look. It seems they treat certain people one way and others another. I was offended by the treatment i got and it seems by looking at the reviews i am not alone. Appointment times always run late and the desk staff seems to be disorganized and sort of rude.

Several years ago, I had an awful optometrist experience and have been leery of eye doctors ever since. No need for my leeriness at Sachem Eye Care - my experience here was awesome. I had to call and reschedule my appointment 1-2 times prior to actually being able to come in due to some other things coming up. The receptionist was always friendly and helpful when I did do that - as a side note, it was always at least 72 hours in advance so I'm sure that helped. Finally, when I was able to come in on a Saturday morning, I saw Dr. Espinosa. She is awesome and so knowledgeable and professional. I had quite a few questions for her regarding my eyes as well as options outside of contacts/glasses and she was very patient and took the time to answer all of my questions without making me feel rushed or as if she were annoyed. She also took the time to explain what my plan covered as far as contacts go. While I did have to get my eyes dilated (ugh, hate that), she didn't make me feel as if I had to and inquired about my plans for the rest of the day so that I wouldn't be non-functional for an important event or something. She obviously is very passionate about optometry and enjoys her job and it shows in her interactions with patients. I ended up ordering my contacts with Sachem since they were free with insurance and they were ready on Thursday (they are closed on Wednesday). My only (minor) complaint is having to return to pick up my contacts; some places will stock them and you can eliminate the extra trip. Overall, I was very pleased with my experience here and would definitely recommend to others for their optometry needs! read more

I received a pair of distance eyeglasses that were so bad that I couldn't use them. I found an old pair that were much better, and they were about 5 years old. I called and said I would like a refund. They said they do not give refunds but I could see the doctor for a review of my presription. I said If you couldn't get it right and I got a prescription this bad why would I go through this again. I will go somewhere else and get another prescription and see if they will make new lenses. read more

Women who claims to be the store manager made me pick my frames and pay over the phone, giving me an attitude when I said I wanted to pick new frames in person. I picked a pair of Flat Black frames. I come in to pick them up, and they're a dark blue with a light blue floral pattern... I tell the women, and she says "well, this is what you picked. I even wrote it down, flat black-." I grabbed the flat black display model and tried explaining the difference. She responded by snapping at me, saying she has eyes and knows the difference. So, she swaps the glass from the fresh order with a crusty display model that was likely handled by a few hundred customers. When she hands them to me, I begin to inspect them, and she literally throws a tantrum... she says "I'm not going to stand here all day while you look at these all day" as if I was holding her... truth is, her staring at me was making me incredibly uncomfortable and I WANTED her to stop standing there. I tell her this, and she goes on saying "I don't know what you're trying to prove. They're the same frames." Okay... so why are you so upset? Why are you scared? Afraid I might find something you tried to hide? Most unprofessional "manager" I ever had to deal with. The unprovoked tantrum over a visual inspection was absolute insanity. Professional help is needed for this manager. read more

Despite the friendly atmosphere, my issues were not resolved. When I called to set up my appointment, I expressed what needed attention and was assured that I will get the PROPER care. It was the total opposite, all the doctor wanted to do os increase my prescription and sell me glasses. I wasn't there for that but to get help understanding a eye condition that could leave me BLIND. And address my severe dry eyes that no otc can relieve. The only reason why I decided to buy the glasses is to have an extra pair. There's not a big selection of good looking glasses at this location. The wait time for the glasses was ridiculous, almost 20 days- I was about to cancel them, if I could. This was back in the beginning of April and I'm still thinking about my experience at rhis place, that's how much it bothers me. This place has the word CARE in it and My most important issues were downplayed and later forgotten by the doctor. At the end, I asked about a follow up, thinking she would get into the other ( the more important) issues, she was like " Nope" with a smile and looked away, talking with the optician. That's when I knew she didn't CARE and I've decided that I will not ever go here again. read more

DO NOT GO THERE! HEARTLESS & UNAPPRECIATIVE FOR YOUR BUSINESS. Their time matters and not yours. I had made an appointment about 6 months in advance because of Covit. It was very cold today and my car had to be jumped and had to get someone to do it. I called and told them I was runnng late. I had to leave a message because no one answers the phone and they have no service too. I left as soon as I got my car started and it took me an hours drive because I moved last year. When I got there they refused to take me in for the appointment and told me they called me. Well they called me 10 minutes right before I arrived there after the hours drive. I am not a new patient and was told the doctor is too busy and has other appointments and to come back tomorrow. I work in between 2 jobs and they wanted me to come back at night and I do not drive far at night because I have trouble seeing yet another reason for the appointment and told them but, they could care less. Very HEARTLESS and not professional or accomodating about this. I was so upset and will look elsewhere for another eye doctor and place that will appreciate my business. read more

I went to this eye doctor today and was pleasantly surprised. These were the nicest group of people..the lady who examined me was very pleasant, not the usual battery of which one is better,1 or 2. The gentleman who fitted my glasses explained everything, was not pushing for me to buy the most expensive brand. I highly recommend this establishment if you want a caring professional experience. read more
