I was too -- until I realized: this isn't just a bad experience -- it's systemic abuse of power, enabled by neglectful oversight. Let me explain. Safety Center on Bradshaw operates under the protection of "nonprofit" status, but they bring in millions annually -- and they act with zero accountability. They exploit working-class people who are already struggling with court fees, lost licenses, and life disruption. They: * Refuse to assess for financial hardship, even though Title 9 § 9878(f)(3) requires them to. * Charge outrageous "missed class" fees for tech issues outside your control. * Repeatedly violate § 9876.5(a) by treating people with hostility, sarcasm, and disrespect. * Hang up on participants, send them in circles, then punish them for the confusion they create. This isn't rehab. This is a racket. I'm not just here to vent -- I want to help you fight back. What You Can Do: File a formal complaint with the Department of Health Care Services (they regulate DUI programs): Email: duiprograms@dhcs.ca.gov Mention violations of Title 9, California Code of Regulations: * § 9876.5(a) - disrespectful treatment * § 9878(f)(3) - refusal to accommodate inability to pay * § 9876.2(b-c) - failure to honor complaints & retaliation * § 9878(d) - denying fair reentry ‍ Also report them to the CA State Auditor for possible fraud & abuse: https://auditor.ca.gov/hotline If enough of us speak up, they will be forced to change -- or get shut down. Yelp won't fix this. But if you read this and feel the same? Use your voice. File your complaint. Share this. Organize. We deserve real rehabilitation, not extortion disguised as help. -- A fellow participant who's had enough

I just enrolled with this program. Enrollment process was fair and easy. Calling, having to…read moreschedule an appointment for intake and filling out paperwork....it wasn't much of a hassle. I've seen negative reviews mostly on this business and funny yet it wasn't my first pick. But since I had no other option I had to enroll (given courts timeframe demand although I could've extended it). I was very iffy on the location since it's right next to AmTrak and the location seemed very desolate. They are very stern on scheduling and enrollment (most of the reviews are because of rudeness and poor customer service) so missing an appointment set them and YOU back. A spot that's reserved and drops out affect the other person that needs that spot to meet requirements. As serious as they are, you have a responsibility to uphold your requirements when enrolling with them. They take it just as seriously. Intake is very straightforward, evaluations are done, welfare is considered on personal situations and most importantly meeting the person's court mandated deadline. Aside from payment plans, deposits and flexible ways to pay... you must follow the conditions set. When I started my first lesson it was a very valuable experience to remember. They care about you but if you waste your time let alone theirs well consider it "touché.

It's unfortunate to need to take classes here but I've learned a lot. I recommend asking to have…read moreAnnette as your instructor! She literally is so knowledgeable and has the focus of keeping a person from making the same mistake twice. I appreciate the class and the work Annette gives to her students. They have an assortment of classes to hopefully fit most peoples schedules. No judgment zone too, which is important. All walks of life can find themselves in a bad predicament but to learn and grow from it is the main objective here!

This is obviously not a place you would choose to patronize but if you must, here' a few tips:…read more Maria is the program coordinator and she's consistently friendly and helpful. If there's a problem she's the one to contact and she'll get back to you quickly with the answer. She's also very patient with those who aren't completely happy at the prospect of spending a year or more with her and her co-workers. She tells people that when it's done we'll miss them. She might be right. But only in her case. Carl has been there a long time and I imagine he's seen and heard it all. During a two hour session he doesn't really seem to care about the topic of conversation. Just keep talking otherwise he'll bring out the standard literature. He seems to quietly acknowledge that to the extent that this is a "DUI school", school is out after only 8 weeks and the many months that follow are therapeutic to some but punitive to all. If you're going to be stuck with someone for 9 or 18 months there are worse people to be stuck with. Tony is diehard AA and fond of extrapolating his life experiences into yours. Or just talking about his life experiences. You'll soon get to know his family's personal details better than those of Kim Kardashian's except that you can turn off the TV when you're sick of the Kardashians. If you feel that AA might be appropriate then Tony is the one for you. You'll get everything but a chip at the end of the meeting. Frederique is not there that often which is a good thing. Time recently spent in Paris had convinced me that the French weren't as awful as they're made out to be but I've since changed my mind, at least in her case. Better to collect trash on the roadside than spend an hour with this woman.

For example, today, Friday, Jan. 11th, the preface; I have called their office 20+ times (incl. Maria Vega's vm) and have yet been able to talk to anybody. According to their answering machine, their office hours are 10-7 M-Thu and 10-3 on Friday. I called at 9:40 AM and left a voicemail. I called 3 times at around 11:30AM I called 10 times between 12 and 2 PM. I called 4 times between 2 PM and 2:15 PM Oh and on Google it says they close at 2:30 PM today.. All I need for them to do is fax my updated file to another program, since when I went out of my way to go to Marin County in person to request my file faxed, they faxed an out of date file. Now, I'm trying to enroll in class in time to be able to get my license to be able to move out for school, just to be told that they have the wrong information. The program that has the right information (Marin County Dui Program), unfortunately, is not available to pick up the phone all business day and won't be available all weekend, and as always, it is (in this case, me) the customer getting the short end of the stick with their screw up. I have a lawyer waiting to go to court for me, I have a life I'm actively trying to pursue, and this program is abusive in its privilege, since it's the only program available in beautiful, bountiful Marin, and knows that many customers have to settle for convenience sake (let alone how hard it is to find any readily digestible information, alone. It's like they want this process to seem overtly complicated, mysterious and tedious so you have to rely on a monopolized system that can take advantage of you bc at this point, what other option do you have within the constraints of the courts?). If you're doing three months, just get it over with and never come back. If you're doing an extended program, I highly recommend commuting to another program if possible. This is too serious and important a matter, and I've spent way too much money as it is, for this to not be taken more professionally.

From the very beginning, the staff went above and beyond to make sure I had every opportunity to succeed. What stood out to me most about UEI wasn't just the education, it was the people. Every single person I interacted with genuinely cared about the students and our futures. I want to start by recognizing Mrs. Anita Pai. She worked tirelessly helping me obtain my transcripts from my online high school. It wasn't a simple process and required her to jump through multiple hoops and go back and forth numerous times. Because of her persistence and dedication, I was able to begin the process of enrolling. Without her help and determination, I honestly may not have been able to start school when I did. I would also like to recognize Mr. Ricardo, who handled my student intake. His energy and enthusiasm were incredible from the moment I met him. He worked extremely hard to get everything processed and even managed to get me started that very same week. He went above and beyond to make sure everything was taken care of, and his excitement made me feel confident and motivated about starting the program. My instructor, Miss B, deserves more recognition than I could ever put into words. She wasn't just a teacher to me, she truly became a mentor and friend. She didn't just teach what was in the textbook, she taught real-life skills and how to truly succeed in the medical field. She was patient, supportive, and always available whenever I needed help or didn't understand something. She believed in her students and pushed us to be our best. Without a doubt, she is the best teacher I have ever had the privilege of learning from. I would also like to recognize Nate, who always seemed to be juggling a million things but still made time to help students whenever they needed it. His willingness to step in and assist never went unnoticed. Most importantly, I want to give a huge recognition to Carlos. Carlos is the person you can go to for absolutely anything, and he will always find a way to help. He is incredibly knowledgeable, highly educated in the medical field, and extremely compassionate. What makes him stand out the most is how much he genuinely cares about the students in the Medical Assistant program and their future success. Carlos truly listens to students and values their thoughts, concerns, and goals. He is also the person who encouraged me to take the CCBMA certification exam, something I never believed I could pass. I honestly had no intention of even attempting it because I didn't think it was possible for me. Carlos believed in me when I didn't believe in myself. Because of his encouragement and support, I took the exam and I am now CCBMA certified. The fact that he is even helping me revise my resume on a Sunday shows the level of dedication he has to his students. Every single employee at UEI College has been incredible. The environment is welcoming, supportive, and full of people who genuinely want to see students succeed. They treat you like more than just a number, they treat you like family. UEI College didn't just give me an education, it gave me confidence, support, and a future in the medical field. The experience and the people I met there truly changed my life. I can honestly say I miss being there. If you are considering the Medical Assistant program, I cannot recommend UEI College enough.
