It is NOT for the faint of heart. The trails are mostly narrow with steep drop-offs (ie no two tracks), but the horses handle it beautifully, and at the end of the day you will likely say "Wow!". The Schertenleib's were on time and ready to go as scheduled. The location is well-marked and easy to find using their instructions. They gave a short introduction for new riders, and pick the horses to match the riders ability and experience. The horses appeared to this newbie to be healthy and very well-trained. Blaze and Frankie were our mounts, and they were fantastic Rosie led the ride, which lasted ~4-1/2 hours roundtrip through very rugged and remote terrain. Temperatures were in the mid 90's which likely resulted in not seeing any wild game. Approximately 2/3 of the way through the ride there is a 20-30 minute rest time at a remote cabin (available for rent from the state). Anything you bring will be limited to whatever you can fit into a small saddlebag, so pack lightly. We highly recommend True West Trail Rides, and we are looking forward to riding with them again!

For most part we really enjoyed this trail ride . We've been to several trail rides in different…read morestates . We consider ourselves to be at intermediate riding level so 2 hours of very slow riding was a bit boring after a while. This is absolutely perfect for beginners. If you're an advance rider you'll be bored. Horses were gentle and friendly. They were well groomed and appeared healthy. The ride is somewhat scenic. Most of the ride was through the forest trail . Our guide could be more personable. I didn't really care much for interacting with her. Also, horses are trained to be walking very close to one another which personally I didn't like. I prefer riding some distance away from the horse in front of me. My horse's head was almost in the butt of the horse in front of me.

The trail was pretty good but if you're more than a beginner it's a little boring. I also wish our guide was a little more social, she was a little intimidating. She was also pretty rough with her horse kind of awkward watching her get actually mad at her horse as the guide. Other than that it was still fun to get out and meet a new horse. Owner responded to another comment of someone in the group and this experience is definitely not like what i've done before. Went over zero safety and it was just like let's start riding! But it was fun if you're a beginner and can't find another place.

BUT I am writting this review because the- NEW OWNERS -Kat (Katilina Edmunds and Curtis Edmunds) should NOT board horses, be trusted with ANY KIND of Animals!!! None. They dont feed, they didnt listen to Jen on how the feeding should be continued. They didnt feed Angel the draft horse that passed because they didnt keep her diet going. These new owners are full of lies. We have PROOF of Testimonies from lots of people witnessing themselves of starving animals. Not keeping up with water for the animals. She frauded 20 people that I know about, could be way more. With the amounts she owes. So fraud. Animals malnourished and a Handful of animals passed as well before and After (Scraps) came out for them. Its so sad. I hope you take this review and make your own judgements. We have SO MUCH PROOF from many others. Not just Jen the old owner. I do hope they seize operations. ASAP!!!!!! THEY REBRANDED TO Hangman Ranch Boarding and trail riding. They wont show documents Jen " supposedlysigned and its looking like nore fraud but forgery!!!" Not good!!! They can come off nice, talk shit, behind your back, treat workers like shit, act like they know what they are doing, have a lie about Everything. TAKE 0 ACCOUNTABILITY FOR EVERYTHING. Its wild. This is a recommendation. No one made me write this at all. Do not board with them. Horse riding lessons. Trail rides. Give them animals. If you pay online she Will and Did cancel alot on people and Did not pay them back. Stopped all communication. And doesnt ever reschedule. And calls it (Non refundable) or the animals....... I got these animals like this...... just no .accountability. so sick!!!!!!! Do the right thing girl.......

It was a perfect mix of a little uphill, downhill, very scenic with the mountain views. The horses were well behaved and we had a pretty big group too. The kids rode up front behind our trail guide and then my husband and I were behind them. My stepdaughter who's 11 had Gravy who was such a well-trained horse. She barely had to steer. I had Emmy Lou and she also was amazing, barely had to steer her. My husband had Shiner who took every opportunity to eat which was funny. Our trail guide was great! We also met the owner who was really nice. They have a lot of horses. Overall, highly recommend this horseback riding trail!

I had to go horseback riding because my stepdaughter is only 12 years old. The rule of the…read morehorseback riding trip is if the rider is a minor, then there has to be an adult accompanying him or her. My husband is probably scared of horses, so he made me signed myself up, knowing I am not fond of horse riding (the first time I was on a horse was when I was 9 years old). It was an easy find to go to the ranch. We walked into the meeting area, where we were briefed by the 2 guides about the horse and basic steps on how to maneuver with the horses in case they decide to stray off or something, but keep in mind these horses are able to keep up with single trail walking as long as they're feeling it and you as a rider aren't too nervous and tense because animals can sense your emotion, too! My horse just decided to stray off on his own for a bit, but I was able to guide him back to the group with the guide's help. My horse also decided that it was fun to run up the hill for a bit, and I was able to pull back on his reign to make him stop. Not the horse'a fault. It's animal's instinct. The part that really freaked me out most was when we all walked single line along the steep hill. I didn't want to look to my left because I didn't want to die. The horses are smart enough to not stray off from the path, so that was good. The ride is really 1 hour long like advertised in the payment. Remember that you will be greeted in the beginning, be introduced to your riding horse, be saddled up, be riding the whole way with 1 guide in the front of the line and 1 guide at the back of the line supervising, and be gone for about 1 good hour (ground level , up the hill, down the hill, then back to the ranch). The guides are really good about keeping up with the safety of the group, and the horses are good with their temperament. After the ride is over, the guides will help you get down from the horses and ask if you'd want some water and you are finished with your horse riding adventure. The horses around this ranch are muscular and well-taken care of, so .... No complain from me! Yes, my horse also wanted to snack some hay after the ride because he saw some hay from one of the stalls. I also got to see horse pooping and urinating, so how glorious was that ?
