Off season camping always has its challenges, but as a full time RV guy, it's a necessary evil. I appreciate state parks that are open year round with facilities like Sadlers Creek. The bathhouse is older, but very well maintained and clean. Good water pressure and it was nice and heated, which is welcomed on a rainy, cold, December stay. Sadler Creek State Park seemed to be the place to be on a late October 2022 weekend. I was glad to have two Ubers respond to my request before 8am on a weekend in rural South Carolina, which is a bit impressive, to say the least. With that said, Sadler Creek State Park was the venue chosen for the annual Sadler Creek Stumble, a weekend ultra running festival that boasts various distances to challenge those who signed up each year. This state park is pretty interesting and it just seems like a long drive from Anderson, SC. The distance from Anderson, at least from my hotel was about 12 miles to get to the entrance of the park. I can walk and run them, as well as ride a mountain bike thru these single track trails. There are places for camping overnight here at the park, which was pretty cool. The views of the lake was pure magic and definitely stunning. When I was there in late October 2022, the weather was semi ideal, although, it could have been a little bit better. Sadler Creek state Park boasts miles of single track trail loops, which is ideal for a lot of recreational people to travel here to do active things. There are shady spots from time to time as well as restrooms in various parts of the park. For the most part though, my experience here at Sadler Creek State Park was good, as I obtained what I was looking for that weekend. The overall experience here at the Sadler Creek State Park was fairly good. Plenty of single track trails and trees to keep your mind and body occupied for a while. At least it didn't rain. The system of trails was fairly good and not obstructed by things along its path. I can see that many South Carolinanas and others who travel thru the area would stop here and camp over night to see the breath taking beauty of the area. There's also a part of the park where there is entertainment for the children and a rest stop for the adults. I dig the ambiance of the park when it's really outside the Anderson SC city limits and had to drive about 20 minutes to the park. I am grateful for the Uber drivers who replied to my requests, especially on a weekend before sunrise! With that said, The Sadler Creek State Park is not that large. One continuous loop on its trail system was about 6.55 miles along. The wooden wigwam I saw was pretty amazing and seemed like it was well preserved. You'd have to go to Persimmon Beach section of the State Park to view it. Among other sites in Sadler Creek state park was a man made bridge that was pedestrian friendly and the many different trees and plant life along the trails. You get to hear silence as well as intermittent birds calling to their friends and potential mates. The call of the wild pretty much. Sadler Creek State Park is located at 2940 Sadler Creek Road, part of Anderson, South Carolina. I think there is an admission fee accessed. I think I paid $3 per day, which wasn't too bad. Cash is preferred. You may want to check out to see if an annual pass is ideal for your situation. For myself, I was there for the weekend in October 2022, so I just ponied up the $6 and I was golden. I think there was someone collecting the fee. Wasn't sure if it was someone who worked for the county or what. Getting around wasn't too difficult, but all the park roads seem to look alike when you want to find a specific place and I didn't have a map of the area. There is parking abound, but as mentioned, you'd probably would need a map and park accordingly. Getting here would likely be thru a rental / private car or thru Uber / Lyft, like how I did. You're basically on your own, if you decide to attempt local public transportation to get Sadler Creek state park. Getting out here is amazing and definitely open to everyone and everyone who enjoys the great outdoors. Spend a few hours or the entire weekend via camping is good for the mind, body, and soul. Love this state park, coming here for almost 10 years. Our favorite loop is loop 3 and we typically stay at site 59 but for our troop family camping trip we got site 49... under an hour a way from home...fishing pier, boat ramp, rec area. read more

I came here for the Sadler's Creek Stumble put on by South Carolina's Upstate Ultras group. They reserve a block of campsites. You can reserve one from the block as part of your race registration fee and volunteering for the race. I ran the 10k on a loop of that exact distance and got to see a decent expanse of the park. Being at a slight elevation, there is a good mix of hardwoods and pines here. However, I found myself moving through all sorts of terrain over moderate trails surrounded by only pines at times and other times running on soft beach sand with beautiful lake and island views. Elevation gain is minimal but if you're taking winding trails you will end up going back and forth down towards water and up hills again. Most campsites are at low spots with Lake Hartwell views. I stayed here on a windy night but it was well worth it. The bathrooms and picnic shelter amenities were all great and there were no impediments to our race set up, volunteer work or running. I've heard that most SC state parks, unlike those in NC, require payment for entry. However, I understand that a year pass can also be purchased. In any case, my race fee also covered park entry. read more

Really nice State Park- not too big and right on Lake Hartwell. Kind of biased as it's only an hour from Geeenville SC, so makes for an easy escape. Lots of lakeside sites- Loop 3 is our favorite. Love 51-60 depending on the size of your rig. Kimberly is right about 59, it's a back in, but we parked on 58- pull thru with a great side view of the lake and sunset! read more

We stayed here for a few days and it's a really pretty park. I guess spring is a little off season bc they only have someone in the office for one hour a day right now, but just went right to our site and set up with no issues. The lake is beautiful and we saw sunsets every night. Clean bathrooms and showers. I just wish they had trash cans or receptacles to encourage more people to pick up after their pets. Most people do but we saw a few who did bother. Other than that, highly recommend and we would definitely come back in the future! read more

Sadlers Creek State park is located in Anderson, SC and if you are interested in having a picnic in a quiet spot and enjoying the lake then this is the right place. We were a group of 50 or odd people. We had booked a shelter for us to keep the food and drinks. The shelters were well maintained and had electricity connections for us to keep the food warm. Kids and adults had ample of space to play. We enjoyed walking by the Lake Hartwell. The place can get secluded at times as we did not see any rangers around. I am not aware if there are any trails or hikes around as we were around the shelters. The restrooms were sparkling clean. The entry fee is $2 cheaper than most state parks around. read more
