Dr. Reed initially seemed great, and I was excited to have a doctor who appeared to care. However, that changed quickly. Every possible mistake was made. It took Dr. Reed over two weeks to submit the NPI, which was necessary for the referrals to go through, despite numerous messages, phone calls, and assurances that they would speak to her personally. Only after a phone visit with her did it finally get done, and even then, it took a few more days. She acknowledged it was the office (not hers) fault but did not apologize. After more than two weeks, the referrals were finally submitted, but every single one was done incorrectly. It required many calls to both the office and my insurance to make any progress. They continued to make mistakes, and whenever corrections were needed, nothing would happen until I called again to push it through. Over a month and several hospital visits later, I am still waiting for the office to get things right. I was initially excited about Dr. Reed because she seemed to care, but whether it's the doctor or the office staff, everything has gone wrong despite my condition worsening daily. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this place. Look elsewhere if you need any actual assistance, as they don't seem to get the work done. read more

Tina, the office manager, has to be the most rudest and condescending person I've spoken to or interacted with in a very long time. I emailed the office today requesting paperwork for the EFMP program and was told I'd need to pay $50 for paperwork. She spoke to me in such a degrading way and stated, "We can't talk about filling out your paperwork unless you pay your $250 balance." RUDE! I explained to her that I hadn't received any information from the office or EOB from my Insurance company. She said so many people tell her the same thing to avoid paying a bill. I'm a nurse, and my husband is a Master Sargent in the Air Force. I am not in the business of lying about paying a bill. She was disgustingly rude, and while I LOVE Onyx Reed, I will not return to this clinic until Tina is gone. I ended up calling my Insurance Company on the phone and merged her into the call. They informed Tina that she has not been submitting my claims correctly, and two claims they didn't even see on their end. They are supposed to input my husbands information since he is the sponsor, but they erroneously submitted mine. I also inquired about the EOB, which my insurance company said they would send to me via mail since they were all currently electronic. Tina didn't even apologize. She was above and beyond rude for no reason at all. I was telling her the truth and she degraded me. Horrible management! As a previous clinic and urgent care manager, I would've never handled a patient like this, EVER! Patient's run! They were literally trying to take $250 from me for no reason at all. I always pay my $24 co-pay, but that should be all that I'm paying my PCP. There's no way I should owe anyone $250 with Tricare. After this interaction, she personally sent me a letter dismissing me from her practice. When I called the clinic, I simply contacted them to ask about medical documentation, and who knew that I'd be spoken to in such a condescending way that would provoke a negative response to anyone. I would never recommend anyone visiting this clinic. This clinic, specifically the CEO/office manager, has no knowledge on proper billing processes and will attempt to scam you out of your hard earned money. Good luck with getting scammed. read more

TERRIBLE STAFF! Old and new Staff are Rude and condescending and refuses to make follow up appointments when necessary and asks the patient to handle their billing issues! NOT! That is their job. The new staff is completely careless and RUDE! Worse than the previous staff who were terrible too! Dr De Shazo is a kind and caring doctor and he needs staff that reflects his true nature not rude defiant staff that is not helpful or caring to his patients!! I called in to my health insurance company and the reason why they denied the claim for my last appointment is because the staff put the wrong billing code on the claim! I feel bad because Dr Deshazo is a great doc but he's not aware of what is happening with his staff. Just found out a year later that I have an outstanding bill. I said it's an error and the office staff said insurance covers the phone follow up. Next thing you know a lady from the back named Tina pulls me to the back like I was a criminal or something. Tina is the owner of this place and said no one is allowed to come here and not pay. I explained that the office told me inaccurately. She said well I fired them. Found out they took my insurance 1 day after my appt. How is this my problem? She then asked if I was there for a controlled substance. Are you kidding me?? Never. I agreed to make payment even though clearly their fault. On phone with my daughter up front telling her about what I experienced.. not one customer there but me. Here comes Sergeant Tina. In my face telling me to go outside with the call. At this point I broke in tears feeling harassed. The front desk gals felt so bad and were shaking there head at how this lady treated me. THE BEST- intuitive, very knowledgeable- best bedside manner ever- GREAT sense of humor which can be comforting. . Progressive in medical knowledge- extremely through , and gives any bad news with kindness , encouragement & lots of options. . We've been going to Dr. D for over 25 years & know we'll never find another like him when he retires. Dr. D is like an old time Dr. right out of a Norman Rockwell painting- BUT with the latest medical technology & treatments. He doesn't clock watch- hense waits can be lengthy but the DX will be more accurate than the treat & street them philosophy of corporate practices. Take a good book & be a patient patient. It really hard to find such a skilled PCP these days- the money just isn't in family medicine & sole practitioners are bailing out . Personalized care too! I would give zero stars if that was a possibility. My insurance is Tricare Standard and according to the website, the Tricare benefits department, and Karen, the Office Manager, this office is an in-network provider. However, when I arrived to my appointment today I was told by someone named Shayna that they are not in-network and I would have to pay for the visit 100% out of pocket to be seen. I confirmed with my insurance company and found out this was inaccurate, that Dr. DeShazo is an in-network provider and I would only be required to pay the 20% copay. After the incompetence I witnessed from the office staff today I would not recommend this office. In fact, I would caution against it for fear of inaccurate billing issues. Karen assured me that Dr. DeShazo is a wonderful doctor, but, as was mentioned above, didn't have the opportunity to experience this as a result of incompetence by the office staff. read more

10 stars for Dr D!!! ZERO stars for office mgr./alleged owner!!!) Dr D's practice was always warm & inviting in the 25+ years we have been his patients UNTIL under new management. I feel sorry for the folks in reception who have to put up with frustrated patients & tyrannical behavior! My issue is similar to other recent posters: management's refusal to accept responsibility for THEIR clerical & insurance errors- now transferring all responsibility to an unsuspecting patient. In my case, lab work done in 2021 ( at old Lake Mead office)was guaranteed covered- but several months into 2022, I received a nearly $4000 lab bill. Naturally, phoned clinic, , spoke to front desk who spoke with mgr, came back & said they would take care of it- acknowledged it was THEIR mistake & to disregard the lab bill. BIG SURPRISE: within a year, I receive another $4000 lab bill - phoned clinic again requesting resubmission of claim with correct info this time. The office Mgr REFUSED- got very irate said it was now the patients responsibility to fix insurance billing mistakes ( by medical practice) Frustrated at the block wall I was facing, I called lab who revealed Harbor Island Mgr errors were even more glaring- not only did they input the wrong insurance info- but someone else signed a misspelled version of my name on the patient acknowledgment form ( I never saw) designed to have the patient verify the insurance info. No wonder the lab was confused. Everyone makes mistakes, but this is nuts & downright disrespectful! . Dr D always had 5 star rating- now- its declined through no fault of this wonderful doctor. His and this new manager's approach are polar opposites. one side of the hall is warm & curative - the other little corner office- ice cold/dismissive. patients seem to have little value anymore. read more

Dr. Deshazo has been a Godsend for me. I recently moved to the LV area from SoCa. With a long history of multiple medical issues, the prospect of finding a new doctor was daunting. Somehow with a google search I stumbled upon Dr D. At the first appt I was immediately struck by his kind, empathetic nature. You will not find a more empathetic doctor - I've had dozens of dr's over the years and he has been the most understanding & empathetic I've ever found. Aside from his caring nature, Dr. D is EXTREMELY knowledgeable about the body, it's various systems, as well as, current and alternative treatment options. He has helped me so much already - if you have a medical issue, see him. He gets an A++++ from me and I'm a tough critic. read more

How much does it suck to give an incredible dr 3 stars because his office staff is the lowest of lows?? It's not fun at all. I don't think Dr Deshazo has any idea how wretched his staff is. This office needs staff to match how great the dr is. Karen is the first I'd get rid of. I've paid THOUSANDS of dollars for a blood draw because the staff couldn't code it right and kept saying they did their part but the insurance didn't hear from them. I paid to save my credit since the incompetent staff couldn't get it together. Yet, I stayed because the dr is so good. But every time I try to deal with this office, the ignorance only seems to get strongerI've finally had enough, sadly. As others have stated, Dr. Deshazo is kind, caring and empathetic. He will listen to you and take the time to figure out what is going on and address all your concerns. He also has a pretty good memory, as I have only seen him twice and he seemed to remember me and my complaints. Either that, or he is one of those rare doctors that takes the time to review your medical history before you come in. He will also explain things to you in detail. For example: I apparently have something going on with my Thyroid so he gave me a quick chemistry lesson on the difference between T3 and T4, and even drew a little molecule for me. Haha. He takes his time with each patient, so the office got a little behind schedule on the day I went. That's fine. I would rather wait for a good doctor who is going to pay attention to me than get hurried through a revolving door. However, if you are the type of person who is always in a rush, rush, rush just be aware that sometimes quality takes time. As others have also stated, his office is small and dated. The TV is charmingly ancient. But again, it doesn't matter. You're coming there for the fantastic care, something which is extremely rare these days. read more

Dr. D is the best doctor I have had. He's been my doctor for just over 10 years and my mom's for even longer. He listens and really tries to figure out what's wrong. When I was in my early 20's I was constantly getting sick and was exhausted. He was the only doctor that listened to my concerns and worked to find what was wrong, he suspected I had cancer but all of my tests came back normal. He kept looking and never once dismissed my symptoms and made me feel how every other doctor made me feel. He was the main reason I persisted in figuring out what was wrong with me and eventually I was diagnosed with Lymphoma and we found it early in part because of him not letting me feel like I was imagining my symptoms like every other doctor suggested. He is the best doctor I have ever had and will be my doctor as long as he is in town practicing medicine. read more

The office manager is the most unprofessional person that this office can have. They took about 1/2 a year to fix the codes that they sent to my insurance. In top of it she claimed that was other employees that they messed it up. They always make people wait for about an hour and respond with a rude tone stating that this is going to be every day.
