My daughter and I had an absolute blast piloting the boat, and once we got over the fear factor that we were going "too fast" and gained confidence in piloting the boat for the first time, it felt like second nature. We did the 3 hour Mystic River tour which ended with a "free sail" hour at the end. However, we opted not to go out into the Sound due to heavily windy conditions, so we stayed in the channel in the "playground" area doing donuts and figure-eights. Before we knew it the 3 hours was up. Rob was a great host and he taught us how to pilot the boats in no time. He was also very knowledgeable of the Mystic seaport area. We had a great time and will absolutely be making this a regular part of our yearly Mystic trips!

The reviews were all highly praising and it looked like a fun experience. I have to say: don't hesitate! Book them! Rob was a pro guide and made sure we understood how to operate our boat safely and how to get the most fun out of it. Yes, there are safety things that you need to be aware of, but he was very encouraging of us trying out what the boat can do. We loved getting to do donuts in our boat! The tour itself was very informative, and we really got a feel for the area. We're already looking forward to returning for another season with a full group of friends to rent out all the boats. This is a must-do activity when visiting Mystic. Be sure to arrive on time as requested so that you can be briefed on the safety. That is so important, and that is why they tell you in advance that you will be turned away if you are late to the safety briefing. For those of you who may be wondering, there is ample parking, and it was about a 15-20 minute drive with traffic from downtown Mystic. We were looking for an activity that would be fun for a multigenerational group of 23 people with toddlers, seniors, and everyone in between. We had been in communication with Oliver for months in advance. About two weeks before the big day, we saw that the forecast called for showers throughout Memorial Day weekend, particularly the Sunday of our planned cruise. We monitored the weather and decided to make a decision closer to the day. Throughout the entire process of planning, Oliver was responsive, reliable, accommodating, and kind. On the morning of the trip, Oliver gave us multiple options and worked with us to make sure that we could cancel and get a full refund due to the inclement weather. He provided us with agency up to the last hour of decision making. On a day that could have been really stressful, Oliver alleviated some of that stress. Had the craziest interaction at Dodson's boatyard this morning . Pulled in to the dock to gas up…read moreand we were told we would have to move to the other side. No problem....we moved the boat to the other side of the dock. A young man came out and said he couldn't sell us gas but wouldn't say why. He finally said there is a 20 gallon minimum so we said ok but he still refused to sell it to us . When we asked to speak to the manager ,he laughed and call someone else to come out side. She told us we had to wait in the harbor until someone else decided to leave and insisted the young man had said the same thing. No one at the dock was getting gas so I guess we would have had to wait until someone decided to leave.Fortunately we were able to go to Noank Boatyard and receive kind,excellent service at a cheaper price. Dodson's was rude and we will never get gas there again!

It must have been a rough day for the captain and crew, because after we stopped and waited while Bonita II backed into her slip, my wife and I slowly pulled in to the dinghy dock next to Bonita, the captain poked his head out of the eisenglass enclosure on the flybridge and angrily demanded to know "Are you going to hit my boat?". Honestly, I thought he was joking at first but then saw his expression. The dockmaster looked embarrassed. His passengers looked tired and hot. I'm hoping it was just a bad day fo the captain, because his manner was rude and unprofessional. Not someone I could imagine spending the day with. Ever.

I learned a lot of history and got to hear some haunting stories while on the trip. Evan did a great job of keeping us entertained and the scenery was lovely. It was interesting and relaxing. If you go, try to sit at the back or in the middle of the boat. We sat at the front and struggled to see what was being talked about. It was a great length of time at 75 mins and parking was easy in the parking garage. If you are looking for something different where you can walk away relaxed and more knowledgeable, take the tour! You won't be disappointed!
