I was very disappointed in Safelites service. Safelite is a mobile windshield repair service, yet they could not calibrate my truck's safety features at my home after replacing the windshield. I had to go out of my way to take it into town 20 miles away to be calibrate. They said that they would have better lighting in the shop for the calibration. They should have used a popup canopy at my house to keep the sun from glaring on the window. Then I believe they could have calibrated at my house. Mobil is in the field. Come prepared to complete the job. They put me at Risk driving my vehicle 20 miles without the intended safety features being used. read more

I imagine a windshield and a new roof for your house elicit similar feelings. If you need one, it's likely involuntary, an emergency and an unanticipated expense. Therefore getting a review not tainted by the reviewers likely unhappy state of mind is a challenge. I used this Safelite in an emergency. Far from home. The Safelite jingle and getting someone to come to you is kinda bs. Anyway I had to hotel to bridge my appointment. I chose to go to the location with a customer service plea. I described how I was in a hotel and needed to be kept abreast of any change in my appointment, be it lack of inventory or lack of help etc. just don't tell me everything is good, then change at the 11th hour. Brian is helpful but they will not proactively call, but do respond to your calls, if you can get the direct number! Example, with my appointment the next morning, I knew they were awaiting a delivery with the windshield. At 8 AM the previous morning, I was told I would get a call around 430 to confirm the windshield delivered. I did not get a call, but I did call myself , and found out that the windshield had not been delivered, but there was a delivery expected at seven or 8 PM that night. I was skeptical. The following morning, no call from them, but I called and found out that the windshield did arrive, and that the technician was already working. I always stayed very polite and calm and was happy for the information I was receiving. In the end, I feel like we were treated very fairly. read more

When I went there they were friendly and made people laugh that is what I saw I took notes. I don't like to go to a place with negativity it brings me down. They made sure I had the best price that was reasonable. They saved me $500 and that was a blessing. They did a nice job on my window and saved me money. I will never bring my car here again. The first time I dropped my car off for a windshield replacement, they called me 20 mins later and said the new windshield they ordered was previously used already, therefore they could not complete the replacement that day. I decided to reschedule to the following week, I dropped it off again in the morning and figured it would be done by the afternoon. Around 3pm I called to see what the status of my car was so I could arrange a ride to pick my car up, the woman I spoke to told me it would be a couple more hours and that the technicians stay after 5pm to ensure everyone get their car, but I should expect to receive a call or text when it was done. By 6pm I still had not received anything saying my car was done, so I just decided to go out to Safelite and ask. When I got there around 6:30 the store was locked up and no one was there. My car was sitting in the parking lot...unlocked. I was able to call the customer service number and they got in contact with the manger, since I had a spare key they told me I could take it and the manager would call me the next day to clear the air and help me get my set of keys. I did not receive a call from the manager...overall a terrible experience and I wouldn't recommend this Safelite location to anyone. read more

Had a crack in a 2023 Subaru Outback windshield - apparently this is a thing with Outbacks. Insurance covered it less my deductible and booked the appointment with Safelite in Cville. Showed up at 8AM and done by 10:30AM. Recalibrated the Eyesight system and everything seems to be working great. Very friendly and efficient. Would use these guys even without insurance. I see others have either 5 star or 1 star reviews of this place. But my experience was top notch. read more

The top of my screen was somehow scratched by one of the technicians. My wipers look like they are going to fall off the windshield every time I turn them on. I've only had my new car for a little over a month and I know it has not been by me. As soon as I picked up my car I noticed the scratches but my safelite closed at 5pm that day. Going to call today to see about getting at least my wipes fixed and ask what can be done about my scratches but I'm not hoping to be fixed since it looks like it can't. Very disappointed read more

USAA referred me but I was highly impressed that Safelite put in a windshield promptly but called me right away to say they weren't going to charge me yet since they were not satisfied with the quality and fit of the "factory" windshield USAA approved and they wanted to order the correct one. They assured me the one they were installing in the meantime was safe and I really appreciated their commitment to quality. As promised, they called weeks later to schedule a new time for installment with the correct fitting make and model windshield. I also had to reschedule my follow up appointment a couple of times due to personal reasons and it was so seamless via the confirmation email you get. I had a windshield replaced in a 2022 F150 due to a crack from a rock. A month after the windshield was replaced water started leaking into the cab when it rains hard. Safelight looked at it and says it is not them. Ford brought in Water Dr. and they say it is not the drains around the sun roof. Well what do I do now? It started after the windshield was replaced so I believe the windshield needs to be reset. Stay tuned. I will try to troubleshoot myself I guess. read more

I ignored all the comments here until I experienced it. My appointment was set up 2-3 weeks prior. Yesterday, I received a confirmation about my appointment, and then, this morning (less than 1 hr before my appointment, around 7:05 am), another reminder came in telling me to arrive 10 minutes prior. I left super early because they kept on telling me that the waiting room was limited. My appointment was at 08:00, and I was in the shop at 0740. The shop was still closed when I arrived, so I just waited outside. Staff was in and out of the shop. No one greeted me outside, and no one said Hi. I thought it was okay because it was not yet 0800 anyway. At 0759, they called me saying THE GLASS for my Car was not yet available. A big WOW! How can a big name such as this company miss the inventory? I woke up early, canceled all my appointment for this, and drove 40 minutes for tho appointment just for NOTHING. I was overly frustrated. Although the guy talked to me in a friendly manner, it was just disappointing that they have waited last minute to call me. Took truck in for a shattered back glass. Insurance sent me to Safelite in Charlottesville. First appointment, they couldn't do the installation. Had to reschedule after driving the hour to get the appointment. Rescheduled, left truck there 3 days, go pick it up and they did not put an entire seal in.....of course it rained all day and now my headliner is soaked and waterstained, my seats are damaged from water, the upholstery is soaked. You can't speak to anyone at the actual Charlottesville location had to make another appointment and that isn't until the 21st! read more

The iPhone direction to the store is a joke. It takes you to a holiday Inn about 3 miles from the actual store. I had to use google maps to get me to the right location. The owner said they have had many who have experienced the same thing. Get it right Apple!!! Other than that it was a great experience. They have glass view panels that you can actually watch the work in progress. Had me ready to go in about 2 hours. Had to reprogram the GPS which added some time. Very happy. Well, after a fashion, the windshield was replaced AND the rear mirror was reinstalled. It only took numerous phone calls... it started by receiving a voicemail from the tech who was lacking in customer service skills asking where the building (it's an obvious building if you have the right address?) and car were, the message also included words to "due to him other jobs would only hang out for 5 minutes before moving on", I immediately called someone at my job to meet him with the keys to the vehicle but no one saw the tech and she kindly waited for 20 minutes. Upon called the brick and mortar was told that the techs wait 15 minutes before aborting and to relay the message call me. NOTHING from the tech, so gathered he moved on!??! I called the brick and mortar after no tech, and was told that they would let me know when the tech would come by and I waited for 5 hours with no updated and had to call them only to learn that they would have to reschedule when the tech showed up on site. Lack of communication on their end! I had prepaid for the windshield and found out that the tech did NOT know that until he looked at his phone, and came into the office _demanding_ payment, and he not identify himself or why he needed payment to my boss! This morning I discovered when entering the vehicle that the rear mirror was in pieces on the passenger seat plus a screwdriver??!??!?! I was not pleased to say the very least; yet ANOTHER call was required, I spoke with the store manager who apologized for that tech's deficiencies and sent out a new tech to install the mirror which resolved the issue. I was stood up THREE times by this location. Not even a call the day after to apologize. I was hung up on several times by their automated line because no one would answer the phone. Corporate was no better help. They comment on everything saying "please contact corporate so they can investigate your concerns" they won't do that so don't waste your time. Technician (kendrick) broke my antenna during windshield install. Said they would order an antenna and come back to fix it. More than a week later he showed up and couldn't fix it and made it worse by splicing my line. I asked him if the company knew about this and he said no. I told him I was uncomfortable with that and he responded a supervisor would call. Never received a call and 2 weeks later I called and was lied to yet again by a lady at the Charlottesville location. It's been over a month and no reply. Ridiculous and not responsible. They took my car immediately upon my arrival to the shop, and provided a finished product ( new windshield) within an hour and a half. I used them twice through insurance. Once for a small crack and then for the whole windshield. Just like every other auto motive business in Charlottesville you will encounter lazy people who do a slap up quick job with no detail, break things, whatever. So this guy comes out removes the old windshield, gets broken matter, tar on my seats, DOESNT CLEAN IT UP! He puts this sealer on, in little strips and didnt cover the opening, then pops the window in and leaves. LEAKS LEAKS LEAKS! I called twice and NO ONE ever gets back so yeah they want that insurance money with the dumbest lazy workers. Its not surprising in Charlottesville but a pain to me! read more

I walked in the Charolettesville location on a Saturday afternoon hoping to have a minor crack repaired. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. I was told that no one could repair my windshield today inspite of their being 3 employees in the shop area and two persons in the office and only one vehicle in the shop. I subsequently had to replace the windshield, as the crack spread before the appointment date I was given. Next time, I'll probably seek out a smaller/local company that appreciates their customers especially repeat ones. This wasn't my first time using safelite. read more

Called over a month ago to schedule a windshield replacement for my Tesla. The day of the appointment the manager called to tell me that they only had the after-market windshield which would be difficult to calibrate and could cause issues. So then another appointment was scheduled and when I showed up they did not have the windshield again. I received the card from who I assume is the manager who told me they would order the Tesla windshield. A week later they called me to schedule the appointment which was about two weeks out. I dropped off my car and received a call that evening that they did not have the windshield. They said they would try to overnight it, it did not arrive the next day so then they said it would be the following day. I am picking up my car now with its glass still broken after months of appointments and cancellations. Absolute mess. read more

Run Away! I needed my car windshield replaced, and I've used Safelite in other locations/states and always been happy with their service. This place is a disaster. The day of my 1st appointment, they called to say that they did ot have the correct windshield, so they would need to reschedule once they got the correct one (the appointment had been scheduled for over a week). They never called back. I rescheduled, myself, for two weeks later after not hearing from them for a week. The day of my new appointment, no one ever showed up. They did not call to tell me they would not be there, just didn't show up. when I called their office at 4:30, I was hung up on after a woman answered. I tried calling back and was hung up on 6 TIMES! I had to call the national number to even speak to someone the next day, and when they finally got ahold of the C'ville office, the person they transferred me to was useless. Awful. So I used Charlottesville Va. store as they were closest to us. They came out to my house to replace my 2020 Explorer ST cracked windshield on a friday afternoon.. After almost 4 hours I was asked if they could come back on Monday. It turned out the windshield they got had the wrong style heat element wiring. So this left me with a SUV I couldn't drive for the weekend. But I was promised it would be fixed Monday. Monday rolls around and I received a text the tech would be onsite between 1-5. When 5pm came and went I called the manager Everet at the local store, and he said they didn't have me on the books for today. When I explained my car was undrivable, he promised to send someone out first thing in the morning. Tuesday rolls around and the tech comes out and addresses the crack windshield. However when trying to reassemble my SUV, he was left with an extra screw and 2 panels in the interior. He could not figure out how to put them back and a missing rain sensor, that the other tech kept and forgot to give it to him. After 2 hours being on the phone with his techs in the store, he explained I would need to bring the car into the shop to fix. So I drove the hour to the store and met with the manager. He was sorry for the trouble and agreed to refund me 150.00 dollars for the recalibration fee they charged me 250.00 dollars for. Note: Ford only charges 100.00 for the same recalibration. Well it has been 2 months and many phone calls of unkept promises from the manager .And still no refund for the worst SafeLite experience ever. I would not recommend this store, except for a girl tech named Anne, who was able to figure out the 2 interior panels and install the forgotten sensor in about 20mins. read more

They do garbage work and treat your car poorly when putting it back together... After breaking something the shop guys will accuse you of lying and bringing it in that way or try to hide it. 265 dollars to fix their careless work. Lin in the field does good work. Update: the manager Scott followed through and paid for the part they broke so I am increasing to 3 stars for righting a wrong... No body had the decency to keep us informed of what was the problem . Rock took a chip out of my windshield. Called my insurance. They scheduled the repair and for the person to show up between 0800-1200. Got a text message from Safelite confirming 0800-1200 the day before. The day of, I cleared my morning plans. At 1019, I get a phone call telling me the service person will be there between 1400-1600 and that I'm their last stop for the day... Great way to schedule your only day off. Horrible office staff (Bryan & Katie) in Charlottesville! Had and appointment and drove 1 1/2 hours from Louisa to dropoff 2022 Subaru by 9:30AM. Was told it would be ready by 5PM. Back to Louisa and then back to C-ville to check at 3:45PM to find car untouched, in the same space. Work started after 4PM and was completed at 5:15PM. When asked why I couldn't have just waited after the dropoff, instead of driving for hours, Katie slammed her window and ignored me. Bryan said that was their policy. Car alignment was damaged during the test drive calibration and I have to have Subaru fix Safelite's poor work! read more
