The pool area and water are heated and the water doesn't smell of harsh chemicals--all of which is great given that babies can be very sensitive. My daughter's teachers, Orlando and Alivia, are both fantastic instructors who are patient and help the little ones overcome any fears of the water. They slowly and gradually build up new skills, preventing the development of water-phobias. Also, the small class sizes mean that there is plenty of one-on-one attention directly between the teacher and students, so I really feel that she gets a lot out of each class. Thanks to them my daughter loves the water and is well on her way to becoming a safe swimmer.

I asked a few friends, young and old, about their opinions, and the only shop to get high recommendations was Cedar Grove Divers Supply. So I stopped in the shop to talk. Let me be clear, scuba diving is not cheap. But it doesn't have to cost an arm and a leg. CGDS was up front about the cost, which was reasonable. Some places say they are cheaper, but then add "pool fees" and "certification fees." CGDS has awesome supplies in stock, and let me try out items before making the decision on what to buy. They include so much in their course, which doesn't begin to explain the experience of the instructor. The primary instructor, Doug, has been diving for longer that I have been alive. The wealth of knowledge provided during class, during open water dives, and during general discussion is unparalleled. Classes and certification dive days felt more like talking to friends than taking a class. I can't say enough about this family owned operation, and would recommend it to anyone. In fact, some of my own family members will be signing up soon. I will be back for more advanced training in the future!

Having lived in the neighborhood for a few years we were excited to explore the facility as a possible daycare option for our 5 month old. Even if it meant putting our names on the waitlist. Well, after submitting the online ELC interest form and calling a couple of times, with no response back, I decided to stroll down the block and inquire within. I didn't intend to tour right then but I was hoping to schedule a future tour, to be able to compare all my Essex county infant daycare picks & make an educated decision. I explained to Carol that I made many attempts to contact the Montclair YMCA Learning Center regarding their Infant program & never got a response. In my opinion, Carol was cold, and seemed uninterested in providing any information. She called Justine and informed her that I've not had anyone reach back out to me, then returned from the call to tell me that there's a wait list, that the wait is a year long and that unless it's close to the time for enrollment, I would not be allowed to tour. When I asked Carol about the weekly cost, she said she didn't know and didn't want to "bother" Justine and call again cause she's busy and has meetings. I think if I was a white woman Carol would have called her back immediately and would've been much more pleasant in her interaction with me. Whomever set up that process didn't think it through because now based on what Carol shared- I'd have to wait close to 1 year to view the facility, with zero clue as to how it looks or differentiates from other day care centers and with no concept of the cost. Why would I be interested in putting my name on a wait list when you've provided me zero info and you're saying that it'll take close to a year for you to share any info? Very poor experience here.

P.S. - You also want to pay like $150/month, I pay $25/month at Hardbodyz. The fact that my gym ends in a Z is only the cherry on top of the sundae. Hardbodyz is a gym for people who like to work out and who like to get in and out of there with a great workout. I never go at peak time (5pm-8pm), but all the other times I have been I have never been inundated with crowds or an excess of meatheads.** The equipment is always working, always clean and the gym goers at Hardbodys do not leave messes everywhere. In general, the patrons here are courteous and respectful, which can not be said for all gyms.
