I had been trying to gain employment for the last 2 years here calling and checking on my application status constantly for updates; only to be lowballed and ignored or told the company doesn't want family members working on shifts together. Battle Ground is a Very small city and family members are likely to work at the same business. My qualifications and job experience are more than what's needed for these ENTRY level jobs. Of all the Safeways I frequent (generally reluctantly), this one I have had the least problems with. It's always been staffed well enough, stock levels are maintained appropriately (never had something be sold out, which happens at basically every other Safeway), and the employees are generally very friendly and helpful - particularly those assisting at the self-checkout. Seems like I can't ever leave without having a chat with one of the guys checking IDs and resolving issues with us unpaid cashiers. If I have a party, picnic or other special event in or around Battle Ground, I can virtually guarantee that I'll be stopping at this Safeway along the way, as its convenient location, friendly staff and operational consistency make it stand out amongst its brethren. read more

so my made an online order and they had a deal that if you buy 2 packs of pop you get 3 free and she got anw root beer and it shows that there is a substitution for the root beer and it's she can't have that root beer so she canceled the substitution and it raised her order for $50-$75 and it's because they deleted the and they didn't ask if a different root beer or like a different pop so she got her order service and the lady was extremely rude. The produce department never disappoints here lately. I am slowing converting my business all back to this store (inpite of their higher prices). Today I was checked out by Logan W per my ticket. He was very friendly and courteous the entire transaction. And patient I might add with a customer in from of me that questioned everything, why their EBT food card would not pay for party supplies, etc. If their prices were more reasonable, they would of had a 5 star rating. read more

I ask the guy serving me how he's doing and tells me he's sick...don't tell a fucking customer that you're sick while serving them there food. That's gross and inappropriate customer service. Run of the mill grocery store. Staff throughout and cashiers very friendly. Three stars because the staff at the deli acted like they hated their life when I asked for deli meat. I was going to get two meats and one cheese, ended up being done after the first meat when the staff dropped the pastrami on the counter, said "have a nice day", and walked back behind the wall as to not be bothered. read more

I come here mostly for the pharmacy. I came in 3/16 at 6pm. All of the staff were so friendly and patient with me. I have had a name change, so the system was not registering me. Then found out that my health insurance was bought out by another company (I had no idea). The entire time they were doing their due diligence, making sure I was taken care of. If I could leave zero stars, I would. I shop at the store all the time, and will likely not shop here in the future. I have experienced one too many bad Customer Service experiences. I tried to have some balloons I ordered online filled up with helium for my son's birthday and the assistant night manager was called over to assist in finding a code for the helium. When they couldn't find the code, she decided that I should be charged full price as if I was buying a balloon from the store just for the helium. Then she went on to tell me that there was a helium shortage and that I can buy them or not. Luckily, the lady who was filling in in the floral department was really kind and encouraged me not to fill up my balloons, but instead come back the next day when one of the real managers are in, that would know where that code is and if that was even the correct dollar amount that they were going to charge me. For context filling up six balloons was going to be over $55. Horrible customer service shop somewhere else I strongly encourage you. I went over to Fred Meyer's and filled my balloons for $10. read more

I work in Battle Ground and as such occasionally I need to supply lunch from the bevy of options that dot Main Street within my meager 30 minute break to refuel. One option that has been surprising of late is Safeway, right at Main Street and Highway 503, the very heart of Battle Ground. Within a very short amount of time I can walk in to the store and have four soup options to choose from in a self service bar, I usually get the Stompin' Steakhouse Chili. Believe me, I am a chili head, I have entered and done very well in chili competitions in the Southwest and up here, it's good chili. There is a full deli with sandwiches, a full Chinese restaurant and if you're creative there is the bakery and the deli area with pre-packaged meat, cheese and the such. Dessert? Doughnuts, candy, fruit, cookies is all for the taking. Beverages can be bought either in the can, bottle or package as well as a soda fountain at the deli. I usually walk out full for as little as $4.00 The staff here is always friendly and helpful, they even supply a little seating area to eat your selections there without balancing it on your lap or risking your rich Corinthian Leather in your car. It's not like me to write a review on a place that's the same no matter which one you go to. It's a damn Safeway - the same as every other Safeway out there. I was lured in by the fact that I could get the "First to Review" badge. And Yelp says that I'm currently the Duke of this Safeway, so maybe I owe it to my loyal subjects. Most of my experiences at Safeway Battle Ground have been mediocre. No real reason to write a review until now, where I was treated with disrespect by the gentleman manning the self-checkout station on 10/10/21 at approximately 7:30 pm. I arrived with my wife to pick up a bottle of wine to go with the takeout we had just ordered. We left the house, with her not bringing her purse, because I was driving, and there was no real reason for her to bring her wallet. When we went to checkout, the self checkout attendant checked my ID, which was not an issue, and has never been a problem. I promptly showed him my ID (I am well over the age of 21). No issue. He then requested to check my wife's ID (also well over the age of 21). My wife and I have been together for almost three years and this has never happened when buying wine at a grocery store, they have ever only checked one of our IDs. When she said she did not have it, he refused service to us. At the same time there was another gentleman accompanied by a younger woman who was buying a bottle of Whiskey. This same attendant did not check the young woman's ID. When I asked to talk to a manager, the manager stated that it was company policy, but I brought up the fact that a parent (who can appear younger than 30 per their policy) can walk in with a teenage child and not have an issue, but when I am with my wife, who did not bring her ID, I am refused service. The attendant and the Manager were not pleasant and incredibly rude to my wife, especially the attendant.This may be company policy, but you should train your employees to have a little discretion and critical thinking ability to rationalize why they are doing what they are doing. Went to Fred Meyer with my wife 5 minutes later, bought the same bottle of wine, walked through the checkout with her and it was no issue, because most people have discernment. Also this is not the first time my wife has not had her ID at Safeway, this is just the only time they decided to make such a big deal about it. read more

So last week Safeway had fresh Oregon crab on sale for $4.99 each, weather permitting. Well, due to unfavorable harvesting conditions, there were no crabs for sale. So this week, they are again on sale, at $6.99 each, a 40% increase. You know what Safeway, you can go fuck yourself. Not only does this store screw you on sales, they have a grand total of 4 check-out lanes, and they are never all open at the same time. I will NEVER set foot in this Safeway again. read more

My Sister called the pharmacy to ask a simple question concerning medication for our elderly mother. The Manager of the Pharmacy was very rude and treated my sister as if she were a criminal. Instead of answering her simple question with "I'm sorry we can not take prescriptions over the phone or fax. You will have to bring in the hard copy of these prescriptions to our store." she accused my sister of trying to illegal obtain our mother's prescriptions and was so rude that she brought my sister to tears. Our mother requires help picking up her prescriptions, groceries and basic necessities. We have shopped at the Battle Ground Safeway for over 15 years and we are considering taking our business elsewhere. read more

Safeway is marketing their eggs as large when in reality you are buying medium eggs. I bought 4 dozen eggs recently and not a one meets the federal standard to be called a large egg. Plus, they are making me sick. I have little doubt they are taking expired eggs and repackaging them with a new expiration date. I use to shop Safeway all the time but after winco moved in I spend half as much and get twice the amount food. I still occasionally stop into Safeway for sale items but the last several time there out of the item the lines are insane. The majority of the staff are just rude especially the deli. I like the staff, that's it. The store needs to be torn down and rebuilt. It's a shame that we do not have a beautiful place to shop. The store lacks in cleanliness and aesthetics for sure. We want a beautiful market with fresh local produce. Right now it seems that it's just taking up space. My husband and friends refuse to shop there because of drug deals in the parking lot and lack of local fresh offerings. I've lived in the Battle Ground area for almost twenty years. I can remember shopping here with my parents growing up. However, I don't have fond memories of it then, and it just get's worse even today. I think that the cashiers are purposefully trained to make sure that their customers feel unwelcome. They are taught never to smile, never to say "Hi". The only form of communication comes from corporate, where they are taught to read my name from the bottom of receipt when I use my club card. HA! A joke! I visited the store today, and I was appalled. It was late at night, only one cashier, and I had many items. I let two other people go ahead of me with only one or two items, and then proceeded to take my turn. There was no smile, no eye contact, no verbal acknowledgement. The cashier missed a coupon on a product, so I grabbed it. When it turned out not to be a coupon but an online redemption form, she tossed it into the bag, like trash, when I indicated I wanted it. Then at the end I got flustered, couldn't find my card, and I felt like I was going to cry. When I moved forward after the transaction was through, the checker, Maria, decided to be friendly with the people behind me, greeting them and such. I almost screamed, but what kind of example would that have given my children who were with me. I don't normally use this word as it has strong connotations, but I literally HATE this store. And obviously the employees do too, because they are never nice! read more

The store is severely understaffed. I have never gone there when there wasn't a long line. Today I walked out instead of continuing with my purchase and drove the 2 blocks to Fred Meyers. Not only was my one item a dollar cheaper. The store was staffed with enough checkers. The other thing I noticed was while standing briefly in line at Safeway the checker seem stressed, not smiling. At FM as walked down the row I noticed that ALL the checkers were smiling and engaging with customers. I hate going into Safeway. read more
