We called several local plumbers, but they either did not have the necessary equipment, they could not or did not want to come anytime soon, or they priced the job so high I could not accept their quote. I posted my need on Yelp. I got several responses from companies that are basically a central phone number that assigns your job to someone in the area, someone who pays them for leads. I did not want that. I wanted to speak to the person who would be coming to my house, before paying a trip charge and finding out the person wasn't a good fit. I found Michael D'Arpino, who had previously been a union plumber, and had several years in business for himself. He accepted the job and showed up at the agreed time, ready to assess the problem. He had all the right equipment and quickly figured out that a bird had gotten into the drain and died in there, creating a dam. The water backed up, froze, and burst the drain pipe. He gave me a quote to fix it, which was quite reasonable. After watching him at work, I was confident in his ability to do the job correctly. I gave him a deposit and we set a date to do the repair. A few days in advance he confirmed the start date with me and showed up as promised on the day he said he would do the work. He and his apprentice got the work done quickly and neatly. We are very happy with the way things turned out. The pricing was fair. He showed up on time and did what was needed. I was out of town when he did the work, so he sent me photos and video to be sure I was happy with the work. We will definitely call him if we have a plumbing or drainage problem in the future. I can wholeheartedly recommend D'Arpino Plumbing for just about any plumbing or drain need you have. Michael is honest, trustworthy, and he and his people are a pleasure to do business with.

The toilet was builder's grade Sterling brand, and the only remaining original toilet to the house. D'Arpino Plumbing rebuilt the tank parts and the valve to the bowl for the quoted amount, which was much, much less than getting a new toilet. Also, the plumber cleaned up after himself and explained what was going on. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND D'Arpino Plumbing!

My old water heater died right before Thanksgiving…read more I called home depot's emergency services and their contracted company wanted to up charge me a lot of money for the convenience to install a new water heater. I was interested in using the opportunity to upgrade to a hybrid heat pump water heater and hd's guys said I may need a second electrical panel!? Rather than bite the bullet I opened up trusty yelp and created a 2 new home projects for my water heater and the electical outlet it needed. Tony from ppe saved my day after he contacted me thru yelp. He seemed knowledgeable and was good at explaining things. He vokunteered his elecrician license information for verification. He then came thru to install the 240v outlet in my basement. While there he gave some good advice regarding electrical safety and even fixed some breakers that were inappropriately installed by a prior contractor. He was prompt and even though this all happened right before Thanksgiving, Tony was in touch with me throughout that following weekend. He got it done the following Tuesday.
