Started off great. Originally quoted $3200 final payout was $4222. Third party mover picked up my belongings. I had personally packed everything and had all inventory staged for pick up. My total of 72 items vs their total of 94 items. Ken and Fred did an awesome job picking everything up Took 26 days for delivery after calls and texts with initial answers of "dispatching doesn't have a time frame yet". Finally, the correspondence I receive was from another third party with American Movers with a 36 hr notice of arrival. Mykhailo and Abdul arrived for delivery and did an excellent job handling my items. Now I don't know what happened between pick up, sat in warehouse and delivery but boxes were ransacked through and retaped. Numerous items missing and items not delivered at all. Boxes smashed. Will I recommend? No. May be locally but definitely not out of state long distance. Missouri to Florida. Obviously multiple handling and multiple reloading from truck to another. I used Safeway for a cross-country move, and I can say with absolute certainty that you should listen to these other reviews and run as fast and as far as you can from this company. Do not listen to the Google reviews or MoveBuddha! Those reviews are fake!! As other reviewers have said, they will lowball you on the estimate by lying about how much stuff you have. I did the video walkthrough, and I was told that in addition to the furniture I was moving, I could add about 40 large boxes and still be under the minimum move. I ended up with about 30 small boxes, but when the (third-party) movers showed up, they wanted an additional $1000 because I was over the estimate. I ended up calling their bluff and just told them to take the amount that they had quoted me for and I would ship the rest, because no way I was giving them extra money and USPS is way cheaper than that. I was promised GPS tracking on the truck, but apparently that's a lie. Delivery came about 2 weeks after my first available delivery date, which isn't amazing, but was fine in the grand scheme of things. I've had worse. But the real kicker came at delivery. When I booked, I gave them my delivery address and mentioned that it was on narrow suburban streets and asked if I would need a shuttle. They assured me I would not. However, only about 12 hours before delivery, they changed their mind and held my items hostage until I either picked them up in my own U-Haul or coughed up an extra $400 for the shuttle fee. My delivery location did not change between these two phone calls, and they refused to admit that they made any sort of mistake or take any sort of responsibility. Finally, when they unloaded the truck, I found that they had destroyed my TV (won't even turn on anymore), and damaged my furniture and my bike. DONT!!!! go with these guys. Especially the low level IQ Jay Cummings in their team. At first the conversation was questionable with his attitude. But it's fine, I can get past it. Then as we went on the process of getting a quote and how everything works, he asked if I want to put a deposit. I told him "Hey if you can do XYZ price I can put a deposit down. Contigent on if I can get a full refund or backout way before the move date with no fees. Since I've only spoken to 1 mover at this point and I want more quotes." Then he made it happend, so I gave my card and he passed me on to the verifier. The verifier told me theres processing fees and bullshit that Jay said it was waived, so I disagreed. I do not recommend Safeway Moving. I was assured by Eric Finger that my belongings would arrive within 5-14 days. Instead, they took 29 days to reach me -- more than double the latest estimate. During that time, communication was almost nonexistent and extremely frustrating. I was repeatedly given inaccurate information about the location of my items: first in New Jersey, then Texas, then Nevada, despite the move being from the San Francisco Bay Area to Denver. None of this made logistical sense, and the company provided no real explanations. After complaining repeatedly on social media, I was connected with Brianna. While she made promises to follow up, she did not call back when she said she would, and communication continued to fall flat. When the delivery finally arrived after 29 days, the driver handled my belongings carelessly -- I watched him drop a bookcase, resulting in significant damage. Overall, Safeway Moving caused about $2,400 in damage to my items. My insurance company is now pursuing them because Safeway will no longer respond to me directly. They did offer a $450 discount, but that is extremely insufficient for a move that cost me nearly $10,000 and caused weeks of stress and damage. I recently used Safeway Moving for an interstate move from VA to IL and it was the most unprofessional and disappointing experience I have ever had with a moving company. Safeway secured my business through deceptive pricing tactics. Following their exact procedures, I completed a detailed video inventory inspection via smartphone camera with their sales coordinator. Every item in my house was shown, and the coordinator explicitly confirmed all items were recorded in their system. Based on this, they provided a quote and guaranteed both verbally and in writing that it was a "binding-to-estimate" price that would not change. However, on the pickup date, the final estimate was increased by approximately $1,600. When I reviewed the paperwork, it was clear that several visible items shown during the virtual inspection had been omitted from the finalized printed inventory sheet to make the initial estimate look artificially low and secure my contract. Furthermore, the pickup crew lead exhibited hostile and coercive behavior. He lied repeatedly regarding item counts and price changes, actively pressuring me to sign revised forms without adequate review time. When I hesitated to sign off on the $1,600 price hike, he threatened to stop loading and leave immediately--placing me in an extremely vulnerable situation with an expiring lease and immediate travel obligations. Sincere recommendation to anyone reading this, don't be fooled by the Google Reviews, scroll down for BBB and Yelp reviews to find out the reality of this "company." Here's the playbook from my experience: 1) low balling to get you to go with them and have you pay a deposit. When asking them for specifics, a guy called Jim was like "oh don't worry, as long as we don't an additional room you didn't tell us about or something, the cost will stay the same." 2) about 3 days before the move, they call and reveal their true colors. Stuff on the list that I had given them prior were missing, and they ask for more money to add them back. If you add absolutely anything no matter how small, they increase your bill (they wanted to increase mine by $1300 just for starters). 3) Logically speaking finding they truly are, I wanted to cancel but the response then is "well you can't without losing your deposit coz we're within 7 days from the moving day" - very much a trap. 4) after reaching out to management, they said they will honor my request for cancelation and refund me my deposit in 5-7 business days (of course, that never happened). I followed up with customer service via phone, they said they will get back to me about it in 24 hrs (of course, they didn't). Followed up via email, also crickets. 5) you'll find yourself filing complaints to get your money back. Save yourself the hassle and avoid this scam. After reading reviews on Moving Buddah's website, I called Safeway in May, for a quote. Edward was patient and kind and I felt I was in good hands. He mentioned being transparent with pricing etc, a lot and I appreciated that. Edward also repeatedly told me he was my "point" person, if I had questions or concerns he would make sure to get back to me., he'd be there every step of the way. I gave a deposit of $1,800. Shortly after booking the move from Los Angeles to Athens, Ga a brain tumor was spotted on a cat scan my mother was given. We had to post pone and rethink the move until further test results. We got a green light from doctors in July and the move was back on. Movers came 2.5 hours too early on July 22nd. We had been told they would be arriving between 11:30 - 3pm. I had arrived with a friend at 9am so we could move all the boxes out of the storage unit to count them and so that all the movers would have to focus on would be the furniture. It was 103 degrees at the storage facility, the heat was a major factor in us wanting to get things moving. The movers were nice guys, did a good job mostly, with a few exceptions - a piece of marble/top to a console didn't have enough padding around it, the guy put cardboard around it over the furniture pad but I'm worried. Also, the faucets on the custom vanities were removed and the guy was not wrapping/protecting them until I said something. Half way through main guy tells me since he can't break down all of the furniture, he will have to add 130 cubic ft to the truck, at the additional cost of $1,145. Huh??? I was so exhausted from moving all the boxes and walking back and forth to let the guys in and out of the building (there's a building code) that I would've signed away my kidneys to get out of there. After I finally agreed to pay (what else could I do at that point?!), I see how tightly they packed the truck - it didn't look even 1/3 of the way full? My friend said I should've asked them to measure out/show me what the 720 estimated cubic feet looked like in the truck before paying. I was sick to my stomach, but relieved it was over. It wasn't over. The main moving guy had told me to give the delivery 2 weeks to 21 days, but that it could take longer. I was fine with that, no rush. Eight days later, July 30, I get a text saying delivery will be on Saturday or Sunday (August. 1-2). This was sooner than expected and I was panicked because my brother was the only person there to accept the delivery and would have to tell his boss he needed to leave work for the 3-4 hour window they give. The major bomb that was dropped, though, was that they wanted an extra $650 dollars because they claimed the truck is too big to get to our house?! I called the delivery guy who had texted earlier and asked how the truck won't fit when the street is so wide. He says he's looking at a satellite map and can see the surrounding streets will be an issue. He also kept saying, you initialed a contract stating if a shuttle is necessary, you will pay the overages. This guy, Christopher tells me that the delivery truck will go to Tucker, GA??? That's where their hub is, and they will rent a U Haul for 70 bucks and reload everything unto it, then UNLOAD AGAIN in Athens. So the $650 is for the labor/loading and reloading. All I can think of as he's talking is the damage to my mom's belongings. All it would've taken in the estimate process was a 2 minute phone call to the delivery guy to give my address and ask if I needed a shuttle. Christopher admitted to me that this happens all the time, and that all moving companies have a back up shuttle plan. HOWEVER, he also said that some companies go ahead and charge you upfront for the shuttle and refund it if it's not needed - NOW THAT IS TRANSPARENT! I've been told a supervisor will call me, I haven't heard a peep from anyone. Edward disappeared, a woman who was supposed to be helping, Benita, (who is so incompetent - she texted/admitted to seeing my texts but said, I wasn't working when you sent that, I see that its a long text, I hope everything's ok, God Bless You??? Like, admitting she didn't even read it?) is useless and when I did reach out, was talking over me saying I should've read the contract more carefully ?! And then there's Karen(?) who I believe I spoke to yesterday who was patient but who also just kept talking about how I initialed the part about a shuttle possibly being needed and how they can't help what happens with the delivery truck. YES , you can. Call the delivery guy when you're putting together the estimate, in less than 2 minutes he will look at the satellite map and tell you what's possible. Unless this is just a total scam, which I'm beginning to believe after reading all the awful reviews here on Yelp. I was having them pack and move my house because I was moving out of the state and I kept the bowl in my foyer where I would leave some items my keys, my wallet, my glasses, and my wedding ring and lo and behold. I went in the bowl and took it to where I was sitting, and my ring was missing. I had asked the person that was in charge of them if he had seen it, he said no. He never went any further with that and before I started making accusations I wanted to make sure of one thing and with contacting the company to notify them that it was missing they said that the person in charge said that I had found it and I have not now I have to cruise all the way back up to New York to file a police report so that they can do something about this. The company has given me no compensation nor do they care about what has happened or transpired, but they sure do look for their money. Worst moving experience we've ever had (and we had 15 interstate moves previously) ! After hiring them for packing and moving (and putting down a hefty deposit) we did a virtual tour of our inventory with them per their request. We were assured that they would overestimate our packing needs to cover all of our items necessary for the packing service of our goods. On packing day they arrived hours late and didn't plan on enough packers to do the job. After completing the job they informed us that we would need to pay them an additional $1300.00 for the packing service for overages in items needing to be packed even though the company was the one who provided/approved the inventory size! We were repeatedly told when agreeing to the terms of the move that our move would take 3-9 days (Florida to Arkansas) . After 8 days we tried contacting them to get an update and all we were told was that we were waiting to be put on the schedule. Repeated calls were never returned and after 21 days we were finally told that we'd been put on the schedule. The morning of delivery day we received a call informing us that (even though they never actually tried) that they didn't think (?) they could maneuver the truck onto our street and as such they would need to unload all of our goods onto two separate uhauls and deliver in 2 loads- and this would also cost us an additional $1400.00 !! And to add to the issues, the packing was horrible - entire closets of clothing just dropped down into boxes (not hung on the wardrobe racks) , lamps with shades dumped into boxes with heavy items piled on top -yes ruined- furniture legs and other parts lost, mattresses arriving dirty from storage, etc...And no, the company has not followed up with us after the job. The initial call rushes you through an estimate using a low number of boxes and a lot of promises which leaves you with a very positive impression along with a low quote. Even military run was mentioned. Other than a bar code sticker on every box that is checked in and checked out in the moving process, that fact was not apparent. Not from a personnel standpoint, that's for sure. We were moving from the Austin TX area to the Willamette Valley in Oregon. it took a ridiculous amount of time to get our goods out of the Dallas/FT Worth warehouse. We emailed in mid-June that we'd be ready for our goods July 1 but didn't receive our goods until the 3rd week of August. Very, Very poor communication during this period. I'd talk with an employee one week and they'd be gone the next. No one picks up the work from the person who left. Now even our rep is gone and I 'm trying to find a way to submit a claim; I've contacted everyone with whom I had contact information throughout the process; no response and of course there's a deadline for this process. The folks who touch your furniture are good and respectful, Safeway support is non-existent. I've now read other Safeway reviews that mirror our experience. I looked and don't recall seeing those when we started the process of interviewing movers. Nightmare. Be prepared to not have your stuff for an undetermined amount of time. They picked up my families stuff on July 13. It's explained that average delivery time is 5-14 days and nothing ever goes past that. ... Well big shocker... that mine did. It's now August 2nd. That's day 22. ... my families stuff is sitting in their warehouse including the cribs of my young children with no delivery date in sight. They will ghost you and forward your calls to voicemail. You sign a doc that they are legally allowed to keep your stuff for 30 days not from pick up but from the first available delivery date. (Even though no one ever explains that to you.) That means they can legally keep all of my belongings for 45 days and there's no recourse for me. This company has done nothing but gaslight me and my wife about how it's just around the corner. When they quote price, they make you sign a contract and don't document exactly what you say and try to add additional items when they call a week before you're ready to move! For instance, you'll tell them you have a king size bed and they'll put "king bed (mattress only." UMIS, outside of this, is almost entirely invisible online, so I write my review of UMIS here. I tried emailing hem first. RUN. Here is the email i sent to them below, which did no good. Here is how this went March 2nd, 2026: I was told by Ryan and Gary at Midland Van Lines I could purchase more insurance for my move of my deceased fathers things, and that they'd have someone contact me. Kayla from UMIS left me a voice message at 12:42pm on March 2 saying United is "partnered with perfectly fast moving (Midland) for your move from Wi to CA. We went ahead and sent out a full value replacement of moving insurance...please give me a call" I called Kayla back at 2:19pm and told her that I had antiques worth about $35,000 and asked "comparing United insurance to shipping UPS, how much ballpark that would cost? Is that like $10,000 or $1000? Kayla told me "ballpark about $1000." Kayla said she would only need the appraisals and photos of each item to insure them. Kayla said she was leaving work at 3pm EST but would be on email until midnight and had sent me an email already with the items Midland had informed her I was shipping and where I could ad these $35,000+ items to my $1500 move. I could do it all online. UMIS/Kayla knew the value of the antiques that I was wanting to insure at 2:20pm. UMIS/Kayla ALSO knew hours before that, that the total value of the other items I was shipping was less than $1500. Kayla never even hinted that $35K in antiques would be a problem IN ANY WAY to insure as long as I had appraisals and photos. I then spoke to Donna at Midland and I mentioned that maybe I should double check with a UMIS supervisor that they can insure these pre -1900 antiques. Donna said she would check with United on my antique items being pre 1900 fragile. Donna called me back at 4:31pm to say that she had spoken to Caitlin at UMIS and Caitlin said yes, they can for insure them "for sure". I had worked very hard to leave where I was in Northern Wisconsin with my beloved old uncle, to get back to pick up the items from the appraiser, to repackage them , take photos of them all, and then call Donna (as instructed) to text Caitlin for Caitlin to call me at 7:15pm CST. I could not reach Donna. In the mean time I emailed Kayla as the clock was ticking. Kayla called me. I asked Kayla if I should do it online or if she should do it, she said, "I will do it for you" I gave Kayla the first item and she said, "we can't insure an item of that value" Kayla NOW, 12 minutes before the deadline, NOW informs me that "the value of the special items to be insured can only be 20% of the total move." This Is a VERY SIMPLE phrase. And yet, NO ONE thought to say it at ANY point that my move would have to be $175,000.00 move to qualify for $35K in specialty insurance?!?!? And Caitlyn says, "well, you didn't tell us from the start that the total value of your antiques was more than 20% of the move" So I began to lose patience, "It's MY fault that I do not know how you write your policies?!" (something to that effect) Then Kaitlyn chose to double down "IT'S INDUSTRY STANDARD. EVERY SINGLE INSURANCE COMPANY DOES IT THIS WAY!...". And so I matched or exceeded her 'enthusiasm' and said something like - THAT is NOT the point. The POINT is THAT NO ONE TOLD ME! I'm not in your industry. You are." She then chose to solve this by just talking louder and snippier over me repeating what she had already said .... I said, CAITLYN!..!... CAITLYN!!!...(she finally stopped talking over me)..."this is how you are going to handle this? to blame ME for not knowing how you write policies and just talk over me???" Avoid Safeway Moving at all costs. This was one of the most frustrating and unprofessional service experiences I've ever had. Customer service was shockingly rude and dismissive. Representatives named Ricky and Karen were condescending, unhelpful, and completely uninterested in resolving concerns. Every interaction felt combative. There was zero empathy and zero accountability. Once they had my money, the tone shifted to "not our problem." I requested a delivery date. Instead, I was given a 21-day delivery window. Three weeks. That is not reasonable -- it is unacceptable. My personal belongings were effectively held hostage while I was left without my furniture and basic necessities. No updates. No proactive communication. No effort to accommodate. Just silence and excuses. When my belongings finally arrived, Safeway sent one single person to unload an entire three-bedroom truck. One person to handle what clearly required a crew. It was inefficient, exhausting to watch, and completely unprofessional. Again -- no apology. No acknowledgment of the absurdity of the situation. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE. Look at all the 1 star reviews. They overcharged my mom, the drivers threatemed them, the movers broke antiques. We tried to handle this so civil way and work with customer service but no one from customer services consistently responded to us. We had a new person every single time and literally couldn't get responses to any emails from the people that we did communicate with. I even reached out to the CEO on LinkedIn and got nothing. Please read before booking! This company operates more like a moving broker than an actual moving company. Brokers don't own trucks, don't employ the movers, and often sell your job to another company -- which explains why the contract feels so concerning. Here's what stood out: 1) Extremely low liability for damaged items. They aren't responsible for fragile items unless they pack them. My family learned this the hard way (see photos). 2) You pay 90% before delivery. They require 40% upfront and another 50% at pickup -- meaning you've paid almost everything before your belongings even arrive. 3) They can legally hold your belongings. The contract allows them to keep -- and even auction -- your items until you pay any charges they claim. 4) Delivery dates are meaningless. Verbal promises don't count. The delivery window can be up to 6 weeks not including storage time, weather delays, or other exceptions. Even the "premium service" (which costs extra) only guarantees dates if both sides agree in writing. 5) They can use subcontractors without telling you. Your belongings may pass through multiple unknown hands, making accountability and claims much harder. 6) They take no responsibility for damaged electronics period 7) They can change your estimate on the spot; the classic bait‑and‑switch tactic And this doesn't even cover what happens if you try to pursue anything legally -- that's a whole separate nightmare. Please think twice (and then a third time) before choosing this company. Read the contract carefully, or have a lawyer or AI review it. My wife did research online but it sounds like the Google reviews are inaccurate. These one star reviews on Yelp are much more reflective of what we experienced. We moved from WA to AR and we gave them the exact date that we would arrive at our new home. We were told that the items would arrive within a few days of our arrival, but we didn't receive our items until 2 weeks later. During those 2 weeks we had zero updates provided to us. They wouldn't/couldn't tell us where our items were at any time during the two weeks. It became clear that they are a broker, not the actual mover (and we specifically asked about this). They move your items into a truck and then store them until they find someone who will drive them to the new destination at the rate they are willing to offer. When we finally were able to speak to someone our promised delivery date went from max of 14 days to 21. They stated "you moved 2000 miles away"....uh, yeah, we gave you the address when we booked and it didn't change. Would NEVER use this company again. Some of our items weren't delivered and some items were damaged. We watched them take the items off the truck and they clearly don't care about how it's handled. The delivery crew were borderline rude - i hope it's not because we are a queer couple but I did get that vibe. If we had it to do over again we would have paid someone to load the items into a U-Haul and drove it ourselves. Don't book them - they have great sales people on the front end that tell a great story ("we have special picture and tool boxes"...they don't) but once your stuff is gone they completely ghost you. read more

Everyone I encountered was professional and kind. They communicated in a timely manner throughout the entire process and had my needs top of mind. I don't normally write negative reviews especially long ones, because I believe most companies try to satisfy customers and want to correct problems when they are pointed out. Unfortunately for customers, Safeway Moving doesn't fall into that category. Probably the first problem for the customer is their apparent business model. They promise a lot with estimated prices that will almost always be significantly below what the customer will receive from major van lines, like Untied, Mayflower, North American, etc. They take a 30% down payment on the quotation when the customer agrees, (credit card is fine). When they come to pick up the furniture and household goods, they want another 50% of the balance, except for two things: they will add to the estimated cost for anything that somehow didn't get included in the original estimate, and they also add 3% for paying by credit card (not on the original down payment) and that is not disclosed until furniture is packed and payment is due. The sales person doing the estimate will state that their while contract says that they aren't required to deliver for 16 days they assure the customer delivery typically takes less than 10 days. On cross country re-locations where another house is being purchased, this may sound like a good deal because one would not want furniture and household goods to be delivered before a house closing had been consummated. Less than 10 days almost never happens. When the household goods are picked up, Safeway transfers and unloads them into a warehouse, (usually in New Jersey) to await a moving van with other customers moving in that direction. The customers goods are loaded onto a truck, unloaded into a warehouse, loaded onto another van and unloaded at the customer's destination. The opportunity for damage is high, as will be shown in the pictures I will include in this review. Prior reviews by others indicate that Safeway is very reluctant to pay for damages, rather encouraging customers to obtain insurance from like minded insurance companies who resist paying for damages to customers. Another undisclosed item at household goods loading is that the final 50% of the balance has to be paid in cash, cashiers check or money order. At this time all the customer's goods are on a truck. A re-locating customer arriving in a new city/location, will generally not have a bank account or relationship that will enable them to obtain a cashiers check, which means they have to bring the money or check with them when they leave their original location. Without it they can not receive their goods. The customer who thinks about using this company should think hard about the economics involved. The original quote is nearly useless because of add-ons that will inevitably become part of the payment, and the amount of time one has to pay for a motel and take-out food while waiting for delivery of their household goods. I have found the money spent on motels, restaurant food for the days waiting for my household goods to be delivered would have easily closed the gap in the cost of using a major van line. Lastly, the amount of damage your furniture will experience can never be recovered, even by a company willing to do so. I selected this company not because of price but because they have an A+ rating, which I still can't believe were based on reviews that weren't AI generated. I will not hesitate to let anyone know that this is the worst moving company anyone can experience and I have moved cross-country and overseas 13 times with different movers. read more

Be careful when choosing to go with this company. Very shady in what they do. They will end up charging you far more than originally estimated, they hire a 3rd party to get your belongings, and then will hold your belongings in a warehouse for however long it takes to fill a trailer with other families belongings. When we received our belongings (2 months after moving). Most of the boxes were seem to have been tossed around and trashed. We ended up with broken cups and mugs, and various other belongings shattered from the mishandling of our boxes. When they delivery company arrived, they also snapped my computer desk in half while rebuilding it (literally watched them do it.) And scratched my TV with a box cutter getting it out of the TV box. It was so ridiculous. When I contacted SafeWay moving, they told me that they don't do claims. That I would have to go through the 3rd party movers that they used to do any claims. Which good luck doing any claims if you don't have the Serial Number, Model Number, Original Receipt, etc. But also make sure you have the highest insurance they offer, or you're screwed. SafeWay doesn't care about you. Just your money. So good luck if you try to go with them. If I could give them less than 1 star, I would've. They're shady and I will never do business with them again. This is gonna be a big middle finger from me to this company. read more

We wished that we'd looked beyond the Google search to find out just how awful this company is, they deserve negative stars. This is the first time we have used a professional mover and will never do it again based on our experience. They quoted one price after we gave a video of the entire house and then continued to increase the price 2 more times holding our belongings hostage. Unfortunately, we didn't have time before the move to change companies. The driver couldn't even back the truck down our street costing us an additional $1,700. Yesturday a female driver backed the same size truck down our street with no diffuclties, Safeway's driver had poor skills or just wanted to charge more money?) After 2 weeks we are discovering missing items. Upon delivery, several large pieces of furniture were damaged beyond repair. The only recourse you have, if you didn't pay EXTRA for THEIR insurance is arbitration. They also only pay on the weight of the object not its value. Which doesn't make any sense. For example: if they lose or damage jewelry that is worth $1,000 but weighs only 2 lbs, they will reimburse you $0.60 per pound. How is that even legal, let alone ethical? We were also told that since our move couldn't be delivered for one week that our things would be stored. That didn't happen either! Apparently, it traveled on the same truck from California to Georgia, then finally to us in Colorado. Four times the distance with all that travel to cause damage. They do not use professional movers, but instead use day laborers. Their system for inventorying the items shipped broke down soon after they started loading, most likely causing the missing boxes we never received. Old equipment, inexperienced labor, no one in charge or responsible for the move including the driver, and after you give them your deposit they don't answer their phone. I am ex military and several US major company employee who moved 19th times. I picked Safeway for my move from AZ to NH. I should not have. THE WORST moving experience of all 19 moves. Great up front estimate/sales/comms. But then, kept jockeying pack/pickup dates on me (said they were overbooked)...supposed to be a door to door across country--but they couldn't find a 18 wheeler (I was taking whole truck). So we kept asking when are you showing as we'd sold our house and had to get out. With 1 hr notice one day, they tell us the packers/driver will be there. They showed up at 3 pm (for a whole 18 wheeler load). But wait, it gets better-they show up with two small trucks and they pack/load until they fill both at 1130 at night--and then say they'd have to come back tomorrow. Yikes...No comms all day--they finally show up about 7 PM the next day after we've been calling all contacts we can). No bar codes stickers, half the stuff no tags--but "i listed it on the inventory"...double, triple handling our stuff. So we sell house, and we move--Husband already at new location--they keep asking can we deliver quickly--Oh Yea you can. But again, no comms. Then we get a call and say, we're going to have to use small trucks--we can't get down your driveway. Know that the original contracting-they used Google earth and said THEY COULD get down our driveway. We told them thats more handling of our stuff and they needed to at least come look. A day or so later (no comms with estimated date of delivery), the driver calls and said I'll be there to look at your driveway. OK, except he gets there at 9PM at night--rural town, pitch black, doesn't try the road, says he's only got a few mins to talk, but immediately says he can't get in the driveway--he had not even walked to it by that time. So uncharge for delivery in small truck. Next day, they show up in a U HAUL truck with his 18 wheeler over 30 mins away...took them three trips!. I can say the local unload crew was fantastics, sympathetic and busted their hump. The driver did nothing except collect moving blankets the packers wrapped furniture in. The worst driver I have ever experienced--thats when we learned he wasn't Safeway even--they had submitted out our load! So at least 4 touching our load on a door to door taking the whole 18 wheeler! Some damage--we're not done unpacking yet. My research had shown good reviews, veteran owned etc etc. I guess my research failed--because WORST comms, WORST service, UPcharge, WORST driver in 19 moves (and that includes many military moves). Their website, up front etc was excellent. Their service was terrible except for the local unload crew in New Hampshire. My reccomendation--AVOID. read more

BUYERS BEWARE! Make sure you read the fine print because they will nickel and dime the hell out of you and then ghost you completely when you submit a claim. The experience was honestly terrible from the start. I coordinated the move with Udi Avni who originally quoted the move from Maryland to Texas at $3,950.00 for a 1 bedroom apartment. By the end of the move I ended up paying $5,246.96. They literally take a measuring wheel from their truck to the apartment and charge you an extra $70.00 per 50 feet that the movers have to walk as well as an extra $75.00 elevator charge. On top of that, Udi had the wrong date listed for the pick up so the movers came a day early and I had to take off work. Lastly, when they came to drop off my stuff in Texas, a computer desk was broken in two pieces. I've been reaching out to the Texas moving coordinator, Jaime Fries, for weeks now and she's completely ignoring me on this issue. Order #18826 - Interstate move from Florida to Missouri (Pickup: February 19, 2026) I hired Safeway Moving for my household goods, and my experience was far below expectations. * Severe Delays: My shipment was quoted over the phone by Senior Certified Moving Consultant Andrew Sinclair as "in my experience it should take 4 days," but it actually took 13 days to arrive. My personal vehicles, shipped by a different company, arrived in 4 days. GPS tracking shows my shipment remained in Florida for 11 days, forcing my family--including a toddler--to pay for additional hotel nights * Arbitrary Volume Charges: During pickup, items were evaluated inconsistently, significantly increasing costs. For example, a small standing desk was treated as equivalent to a large, heavy wooden desk, and the assessment could not be adjusted on their device. Had this process been disclosed in advance, I could have disassembled items to reduce volume and cost. * Unprofessional Conduct & Lack of Response: Andrew Sinclair, who stated he would be my point of contact, stopped responding once concerns were raised. When I called for an update, I was told by Jonathan that, "We have 30 days to get it to you." I was also informed that supervisors do not speak with customers by phone. A follow-up email to said Supervisors and a LinkedIn message to President Boris Svirsky went unanswered. * Discount Not Applied: A promised First Responder discount shown on the Bill of Lading was not properly applied to the final balance. * Property Damage & Smoke Odor: Several items arrived damaged, and there was a strong smoke odor upon delivery, requiring us to keep windows open in near-freezing temperatures. * Forced Abandonment: Due to a sudden $1,900 price increase and no walkthrough available before the move, I was forced to leave behind approximately $1,200 worth of furniture to stay within budget. If you are considering this company, ensure that all terms are clearly documented in writing. Be aware that Safeway does not handle the full move directly and may subcontract delivery to a third party as they did in my case. My goods were loaded and unloaded multiple times before delivery. I advised the company by email a week before posting this review. There was no response. Overall, the experience was stressful, costly, and poorly managed. Communication and accountability were virtually nonexistent. I cannot recommend Safeway Moving and would strongly caution others before using their services. read more
