As a first time homeowner, I've never encountered mold. When I saw a black patch "spreading" on my wall, I initially thought - oh, that's my dog getting her paws all over everything. But out of worry, I sent a picture of it to a couple of my coworkers who had dealt with mold in the past. They said: Get it checked because mold ain't no thang to mess around with. In fact, it could be behind your wall! Properly alarmed, I started looking for a mold remediation specialist. Called and researched a number of folks before trying Safeway. My contact with Skip has been awesome. He worked with me to set up a time and day when he could stop by; I texted my info to his phone (which I liked vs having to have someone repeat/repeat what my info is); and he came on time within his 1 hour window. He explained his process: - Free assessment - If mold is detected, he'll take steps to mitigate costs while ensuring the mold is gone - And he uses a separate company (hygienist) to run the mold samples (if samples have to be taken) so that there isn't a conflict of interest Sooooo, thankfully, there was no mold. He came out, checked the area, ensured it was dry, and said it was probably just my dog (at no charge :)). Safeway Restoration - Coworkers had me believing this was mold. Skip assured me it wasn't. :) - Damage Restoration Near Me - Miami, Florida

Recently we sustained some mold in my daughter's closet due to a small leak in our roof. The leak was repaired and we were in need of fixing the mold. I found Safeway on Yelp, and based on the good reviews decided to call. Skip was pleasant to deal with and came the very next day to assess the damage/mold. He inspected the closet area but did not go into the attic space above, which I felt should have also been inspected. In any case, he offered us advice on the best way to try and proceed. Unfortunately, the quote was very high- $2,600 for removal of a small area of dry wall ceiling (maybe 3x4). This quote only covered removal, meaning that we would be left with a gapping hole in the closet and would need to hire someone else to repair the area and spend who knows how much more. Yikes!! I don't know what the average price is for a job like this, and we are continuing to shop around. If money is not a factor for you, or your home owners insurance will pay for the repairs, then Safeway would probably be a good option for you. But if you are a working class individual paying out of pocket, Safeway may just be a little too expensive. read more

After Hurricane Irma, I came to find out that my families vacation home in the Keys had sustained severe water damage throughout. As you can imagine, finding a reputable contractor in the Keys was a challenge post hurricane (especially for someone living out of state) but luckily, a neighbor recommended that I contact Safeway Restoration since they were also working on her home (and to her satisfaction). I initially spoke with Skip, whose reassuring demeanor calmed my wife and I (along with our incessant questions). He took the time to explain in great detail how he and his crew would go about mitigating the damage, what we could expect in terms of possible scenarios, and what solutions he would effect. At first, I'll admit I was a nervous wreck but by the end of our first conversation, I was eager to hand him the keys. Once the work began, Gene kept us informed throughout the entire process and sent me photos upon request. The damage was so extensive, a large dumpster was needed, along with a crew of a dozen or so guys working around the clock. This level of service is a great relief for a homeowner who lives outside of the state and doesn't have the time, know how or patience to effectively manage from a far. Miami Fact #1: Satisfactory customer service is hard to come by. Miami Fact #2: When you find good customer service you're surprised. Knowing these two things, I'm convinced that Safeway Restoration is in the business of making heads explode. In a great way. Last week my home endured a Category 3 loss. That's industry jargon for "my floors, walls, and furniture are flooded with floating feces pieces and freaking sewage water!" Despite the fact that my insurance company should have a vested interest to maximize what's salvaged and mitigating home damages as quickly as possible, they dragged their feet and I was left cluelessly searching for a pro to come in and clean up the mess. Fortunately, I stumbled across Safeway who I called to come dry out my walls, remove damaged sections of walls and fixtures and sanitize. Basically, they made my home safe for my wife, me and my unborn baby to live in again. Skip came out within a couple hours of my call and blew me away with his professionalism, sympathy and courtesy. Not only did he do the work quickly and effectively but he made sure to assure me that my home would be alright, helped me with my billing concerns, and generally was a pleasure to have in my home. That's tremendously more than I can say for other contractors that I've encountered. I walked away from the experience happy to have someone who authentically cared about saving my home as much as I do. I'll save you time and trouble by simply telling you, call Safeway Restoration. I hope that I never need their services again - that means my home suffered another catastrophe - but if I do, I'll only call Skip at Safeway. We called Safeway Restoration after our public adjustor recommended their services. We are completely blown away by the level of work, customer service, and attentiveness displayed by Skip, the owner of Safeway Restoration. It is so difficult to find professional, knowledgeable, and prompt business owners in Miami. Skip is all of the above and more. He always went above and beyond what was asked of him. He always answers his phone and the 1 or 2 times he did not answer he immediately called back. Mind you, we dealt with Skip and his company for months and not once did he stand us up or not answer our calls. If he says he is going to your house, or will take care of a problem, he will! He is extremely good at what he does. He immediately got to the root of all of our problems and promptly fixed them. He makes late night calls, and even came on days when he worked the entire day in other homes. He always greeted us with a smile and good attitude. I greatly appreciate his professionalism as well. We never heard any inappropriate jokes (a problem with many Miami business people), disrespectful remark, or negative complaint about ANY customer come out of his mouth. What a gentleman! He bills your insurance companies directly, making you do zero work. He is organized, clean, and caring. I just cannot say enough good things about Skip and Safeway Restoration. I can't believe I found a sympathetic, caring, courteous, and professional restoration company in Miami! We recommend them to everyone. read more

I called Safeway back in May after my dishwasher caused an enormous flood in my kitchen. I spoke to Skip who offered to head to my house that same afternoon and clean up the mess. I have to say, I was very impressed with their quick response (especially in Miami). They arrived within 30-40 minutes and followed up with me every day until my kitchen was back to normal. They also billed my insurance company directly. I cant recommend these guys enough! read more

Avoid this guy! I called and spoke with Skip. He was nice during the first call. He said he would call me back to schedule a visit. After playing phone tag with him and several text messages, he finally gave me an appointment time. I took the day off. Guess what? He doesn't show up. I call and he acted confused. I'm extremely grateful to this company. I found mold months before my fiancé and kids were to move in. Safeway went out of their way to remove mold until I had peace of mind. Their demolition was so professionally done that even the contractor I hired for the build back complemented their work. I called Safeway yesterday morning as I thought I might have mold in my A/C closed. Skip called right away, came by in the afternoon after my work. At all times he kept in touch with me. What a pleasant surprise to find here in Miami a knowledgeable, professional, prompt and helpful gentleman. He explained what the issue was [not mold], recommended other things I might want to do as far as the A/C closet and recommended others that he felt were reputable so I could call them for an estimate.
