Final Updated Google Review I visited this location around 3:00 PM to exchange a meal I had just purchased from the Safeway up the street. The customer service at the first store was fine, but they made a mistake with my order: I was given a 1.85 lb portion of Denny chicken and fried rice instead of the Boom Boom shrimp and fried rice I had originally wanted. Since I will not eat the chicken, I brought it to this location for an exchange. While processing the exchange, the manager at this deli served me less than a pound of Boom Boom shrimp and fried rice in return for the 1.85 lbs of food I had brought back. Because I was being significantly shorted on the weight, I politely asked for an extra scoop of fried rice--a simple request that other staff members have always been happy to accommodate in the past. What makes the situation even more absurd is that the deli throws all of this food away at 4:00 PM anyway. Yet, the manager refused my request, citing strict portion weights, and ultimately decided to deny me service altogether. It is incredibly frustrating and completely unacceptable for a Fortune 500 company like Safeway to deny a customer service over a small scoop of rice that was about to go in the trash, especially when I was just trying to get a previous mistake fully corrected. Shocked by his refusal to resolve the issue fairly, I took a photo to document the interaction. The manager then used the photo as an excuse to double down on refusing to help me. Since he was so determined to deny me service, I ultimately decided to let him--but insisted on receiving my full refund in quarters. If he had simply accommodated this minor request to make the exchange fair, I would have left a happy customer. Instead, he escalated the situation unnecessarily. I strongly urge store leadership to review this manager's conduct, as treating customers this way is entirely unacceptable. read more

Been shopping here since 1978 and every time I go in it gets a little worse. Half the time there are no cashiers open. The pharmacy is the worst. Prescription never ready. I had a prescription in That was supposed to be ready on Friday by 4:00 that I called in as urgent. Went to pick up on Saturday. Back ordered, by their own admission they should have called me, they didn't. Solution? I am supposed to start on Sunday, I don't know maybe you should call around to other Safeways to see they have it! Isn't that what they should do ? I rearranged my schedule to pick up and they can't even call be or see if they can find? WORST Customer SERVICE ANYWHERE. Every other Safeway manages to have cashiers and a functioning pharmacy. I don't get what the hate for this store is. It's a typical grocery store and I've never had an issue. LOCATION & PARKING // Located on 15th and 127th, this grocery store is pretty spacious. I love the huge parking lot so that's a big plus. STAFF & SERVICE // I've never had a bad experience here with the service of staff. Everyone has always been helpful (through checkout or when I need something from the liquor cabinet). OVERALL // 3.5 stars I mean, it's a standard grocery store which nothing to write home about. I like the selection of products available at this large location but I'm not pleased with the fact that people enter without masks and nobody who works for the store is at the entry making sure to either hand out masks or stop those without them from entering. I understand that many people are just refusing to wear them, but I shouldn't have to then spend my time in the store avoiding those people and feeling anxious the whole time. I couldn't tell if shopping carts and baskets were being cleaned between uses and I don't think they cleaned the self checkout stations between customers. Lastly I was uncomfortable going to my car with the mentally unstable people in the parking lot yelling at nobody in particular and stumbling down the middle of the aisles of traffic. There was another car hanging out in the lot with the windows down and no masks on whose driver and passenger glared at me as I walked by. This is my local Safeway. It's a block or two from my apartment, so I'm in there a lot. Tonight as I was leaving the store I said thank you to the employee working the self checkout. Maybe it was dumb but I always try and be nice because I used to work in a grocery store, and I know it's not an easy job. As I was leaving, I heard the employee and a security guard laughing at me, making fun of me saying thank you, and one of them said "He's in here all the time" and laughing. Nice and Close to the Seattle Homestead SITREP This is the 2nd closest grocery store to my mom's home, and the one we go to the most office to take care of her shopping needs. SETUP There IS a QFC that is closer, but we find that the pricing-scheme for the very same items that my mom relies upon tends to be more expensive. HEALTHY STUFF FOR MOM Safeway tends to be a bit more price-conscious in keeping some basic necessities for those on fixed incomes - like my mom - and for this reason it's why we tend to get a lot of produce and frozen goods here. As members of their Safeway rewards programs as well, we can take advantage of some pretty good deals with some dramatic discounts. SPECIFIC "JUNK"FOR ME And when I say "junk", I DO mean JUNK FOOD. For me, I get great deals on a lot of crap-food that I ALWAYS get: * There is always a discount on one of the major brands of chips - often a buy one, get one bag free, and I always take advantage of that, like most recently when I got the Sour Cream & Onion bag of Lay's chips and I got the Cheddar Cheese bag of Lay's chips for free. * And when it comes to my favorite soda of choice - PEPSI ONE - THIS IS THE PLACE to come get it! First of all, not all grocery stores stock it. Other chains only have DIET PEPSI or PEPSI MAX. But I am NOT a fan of Aspartime or other non-sugar sweeteners that are not SPLENDA-basied. And Pepsi One is and that's why I get IT. Plus there are some deep deep discounts such as getting 4 2-liter bottles with each only costing 99cents each. Or two of their 12-can cubes and get two cubes FREE. NETWORKED An additional benefit of being part of Safeway's network is that I find when I'm visiting my mom's brother (my Uncle Gary) down in the Glendale-Burbank of Southern Cal, I get the same discounts and deals at the grocery chain there called PAVILLIONS. The only reason I can't give five stars is because this is a store inside the Seattle City limits, which means they don't give you plastic bags. I like plastic bags, I need plastic bags, because they have handles that don't break like paper. Consequently, although they have an excellent selection and great location, I don't shop here any more because they don't have plastic bags. I go to the North City Safeway about two miles north, because they have plastic bags. Yeah, it's that important. I never shop here or I should say I rarely shop here, but I remembered they had a good Bakery and needed to pick up some fresh bread and a cheesecake. No cheesecake and only one loaf of sourdough but I needed more for a party this evening. I thought maybe instead of a cheesecake I would get a pumpkin pie but the ones they had were already sitting out for 6 days so too old for me to serve. Absolutely no cashiers and so I had to go to the liquor store within the store to check out. I have bad arthritis so I need assistance. Last but not least main door is closed and if you don't shop there a lot you would never know until you park and get out of your car. Oh I also wanted to buy a whole roasted chicken at the deli but they didn't have any. I was a bit disappointed it seems like they have their rules they set their rules and are not as customer service oriented as they could be. I had great service, however, that went downhill. They don't read suggestions for replacement of Mon items. 4th time in a row. Now, over 3/4 of order not delivered due to their error. Called to get refund on item they sent as replacement as I requested no substitute and it was obvious the representative wasn't paying attention. Didn't offer any thing except, standard script. No, we can send replacement in a day or so, etc. Just, sorry, I don't know what happened. Not instacart, all safeway:s own mistake. Plus still charged me full delivery price for their error. They renovated a few years ago and it's completely a brand new, amazing look for this Pinehurst Safeway, and I love it! I also pick up my prescriptions at this pharmacy and they are amazing. This is the Safeway we always shop from and in the past we go and buy the chicken special for Monday, chicken special for $4.99 for (8) pieces of dark meat. We always get the freshest from the server, but today I bought (2) orders of them chickens. The person who served me was given me the oldest chicken. They are stuck to the pan and I am eating them right now I am starting to get a stomach from them. As the person serving me , I asked him to get some either from the back or the pan that full and look fresh next to the one he gave me. I asked him if possible to get them and he said they are different, those are mixed. From the look of them they looked exactly the same as the chicken I am getting and he said they are mixed chicken and with different price. Of course they are mixed cause that is what I am buying!!! I go to this Safeway a lot because it's convenient for me. The store itself is new and very nice looking. Finding your way around is pretty intuitive in my experience. They have a nice lounge area in front by the doors where you can watch TV and read or eat. I believe there is free wireless, too. However, you really need to double check your receipt every time. Many times I have had a mistake made and they hustle you through the line so fast there isn't time to look at the receipt before the next customer is being helped. By that time you have to wait in line again to have your issue fixed. Last time I was in the checker charged me 3x for the same fruit. He took off one charge but left two on there. I didn't notice until I was out of line and reviewing my receipt. I had to wait in line all over again to show him the mistake. First he said he had taken it off and I said he charged me for 3 different fruit types of fruit when I only bought one and he only voided out one. He did give me a refund but no apology. The guy who was in front of me came back to complain because the checker had also double charged him for an item. I felt badly for him because he was obviously flustered but they need to figure it out. It's confusing how the Just For U discounts come off on the end of the receipt and the club card savings come off line by line. Many times the Just For U discounts don't ring up correctly and I have to go back and get it corrected which is a hassle. Check your receipt! read more

Like other reviewers, I find this store convenient and nice looking. However, the deli is appalling! I've stopped on my way home for dinner and found only a couple of pieces of dried out chicken and "laughing cow" cheese in the deli case at 6pm! Today, however, was the last straw. I was assigned to bring a baked turkey to a potluck dinner. Turkeys are hard to find after Easter in the grocery stores - so three days in advance I stopped by the deli to ask if they had cooked turkey breasts everyday. I was assured they did and I order three of them to pick up on my way to the dinner this afternoon. They told me they would be waiting at the deli counter for me. When I arrived, I was told that they were out of turkey breasts. The deli clerk told me he asked a coworker to call me around noon to tell me that. I didn't receive the call. They did, however, tell me that the store in Shoreline had a lot of turkey breasts and I could drive a few miles and pick them up. Needless to say I have no desire to give any Safeway any more of my time or money. I drove to QFC (there are two less than a mile in either direction from Safeway) and substituted baked chicken. I'd recommend that others wanting deli items make the trip to the always abdundantly stocked deli at QFC. read more

I much prefer the parking arrangement here than the place right down the road that starts with a Q and ends in a C. The place is always clean but seems more expensive than other said place. The staff here are always welcoming and happy. The guy that worked the checkout we went through was good at making conversation and was doing the store announcement when we went through. I went there for the last time today. Left my cart full and walked out of the store. Prices are consistently incorrectly posted on the produce or missing altogether and when I alerted the produce clerk, he just shrugged. I'm sorry, but I'm on a budget and I like to know how much something is before I put it in my basket! I've been shopping there for 2 years and it's consistently frustrating, with lack of employees available to help you, not knowledgeable when you do find them and they never offer to find someone who does know the answer when they don't know....I'm not talking about obscure info, I'm talking about 7 months into the pandemic, "what aisle is your hand sanitizer if you have any?" Can't be the 1st time someone asked them that! They just don't seem to care or be bothered and therefore, neither can I. Yay!! My "home store" is open again! I was hoping for underground parking! I got used to this at the Roosevelt store. No rain & no sun!!!! Oh well can't have everything! Trouble Spot: Be careful if you see the lights OFF in the hot chicken case. It means the heat is off & bacteria can set in. (Under 140 degree holding temp.) This is part of the "green" concept. Have a deli person check your chicken!!! I don't think it's very green to waste so much food! They should pull the chickens & put them in the hot case that stays on. I would have to object the review suggesting that this Safeway was perfectly adequate prior to their reconstruction. Because frankly before this beautiful store had been reincarnated, it was a dingy, scum of the earth kind of place. The only plus side was the huge parking lot it had, which was pointless since it was never full and there were much nicer alternatives nearby (and for awhile in some circles, this was the *IT* place to score meds to convert to meth. Yay meth). But as far as I can see, it is not that place any more. The produce is actually fresh, there's finally an instore bakery, a Starbucks, a decent beer and wine selection.. This place blows its old self right out of the water! Okay, maybe the parking sucks and sometimes SUVs park in the marked "eco-friendly" spots, but I'll take that over not being able to get my Sudafed while other people get high off it. I mean they go out of their way to make you feel like a piece of shit when you ask for any help. They roll their eyes. They're impatient. They make it obvious that my business is a massive inconvenience. The food is inconsistent. I have left this store so many times asking myself, what in the hell did I do to deserve that? Last night at a check stand I heard a woman complaining about the same things. I didn't chime in because I thought it might be overwhelming for the checker to deal with 2 complaints at the same time, but I wanted to. This Safeway is super clean and bright...but I couldn't find a darn thing in it! Most Safeway locations have a seasonal aisle, so it's really easy to find Easter candy, Christmas stuff, etc. My friend and I were on a hunt for Valentine's Day candy, but we walked the entire store for nearly 10 minutes before we found it in the VERY back near the wine section on a makeshift rack. The selection was teeny-tiny. It was just odd. The parking lot was a bit bizarre - seems like the spaces are not placed in the most efficient manner. If they re-did it, I'm sure they could fit many more cars in the lot! This Safeway was fine, I suppose, for a quick trip, but I definitely wouldn't make it my regular store. read more

I have no idea what this Safeway looked like before it got renovated, but I'm currently liking the new makeover! It's very clean and organized. Since it's super close to my apartment, this is my default grocery store. Finding a parking spot is not a problem. Safeway recently came up with the Just 4 U program that when you sign up, you can get even additional savings when you use your Safeway card. You can even download the app to your phone, I recently bought bananas at $0.49/lb. Super cheap!! Always be on the lookout for new deals every week on the ads and on the Just 4 U program to save money. They both have a self-checkout and regular cashier lines, which is nice since I like having both options. I honestly can't find much to dislike about this store besides them not carrying certain specialty items. read more

Recently moved into the area and changed jobs so I had a 90 day period where I was without health insurance and needed to get my perscription filled. This pharmacy was the closest to where I lived so I had my doctors office fax my perscription to this Safeway. I got a call within minuites of my doctor sending my perscription from the Pharmicist letting me know when my perscription would be ready. I let her know that I was between healthcare coverage so I would be paying out of pocket and asked what the total cost of my perscription would be. She let me know it would be around $280 but since I was paying out of pocket, she would be able to give me 10% off which certainly helps a bit. When I went in today to pickup my perscription she let me know that she did some research for me and was able to find a coupon for a free 30 day supply of my perscription! I didnt have to pay a single penny for my $280 perscription! I was so excited and thanked her a bunch. I really appreciated her going the extra mile for me so that I would not have to pay out of pocket this time. I am definately going back to this pharmacy once my health insurance kicks back in! read more
