It's been a major challenge with Sagamore Hampton for 4 + years now about physically challenged golfers (handicap) access. We are just out playing now for our mental health with friends trying to enjoy what we can with what we have. Sagamore has just not been receptive to change. Just bad business to actually harass people by following us around and not saying anything to other golfers that disrespect the course and rules everyday. It's very noticeable and I know my friends see it too. Golf is hard enough on our bodies, but to always have to look over my shoulders makes it not fun. I have plenty of facts with pictures and documents to support my concerns as a disabled veteran. It took 2 years to get the parking spots properly marked and there still is not enough per ADA Laws. Been getting a lot of stuff done around the house and garden looks great. read more

I finally played here for the first time a few week ago after having seen it off the side of 95N hundreds of times while driving up to Maine. I enjoyed it very much. From the first tee to the final putt on 18, I thought the course was in fantastic shape especially considering the dry summer we've had. It was pretty much green throughout. It was odd that the Par 71 course has 5 Par 5s and 6 Par 3s. But a few of the Par 5s were on the shorter side, playing from the middle green tees. And some of the Par 3s were on the long side. I really liked the layout. You could score well here, but if not on top of your game your score could very easily blow up on you. Pace of play on a busy day, that backed up slightly due to a morning frost delay, went well. We still finished our round in 4.5 hours. Everyone associated with the course was great. My only disappointment is the lack of a kitchen for a post round bite to eat. They do offer steamed hotdogs and pre-made packaged sandwiches. Also, no draft beer, just canned. No worries as my group found a great pub style restaurant less than 2 miles away on Rt 1. Overall I liked the course a lot and will be back. read more

Thanks for your response which is always a bit exaggerated from Sagamore Hampton side. Us USGA/GHIN members are not looking for complete redesign of tee boxes. We are looking for easy fixes to level many many of the tee areas. I know that your maintenance crew at your driving range facility has some good ideas to help you through many easy fixes without a complete renovation. Then you look at the tee boxes you mentioned being recently redesigned if we may. In progress Hole #1 drastically needed for safety reasons due to stray golf balls, leveling and lack of cart safety. Still to be seen if new tee boxes location will be level after a year or two. Hole #11 was not one that had a problem being level with the changes for drainage and cart safety being the main issue from us golfers look at the situation. Blue tee boxes on #11 was not touched and could be leveled. Hole #13 still needs some leveling (just go out and look at it) with many locations that have sunk. Hole #15 needs some areas that have sunk again repaired. Might be the stump's buried during redesign rotting causing depression. Hole #17 recent redesign has minor sinking or settling and the drainage on the new box should be addressed. Then of course the facts that hole #17 was redesigned to remove physically challenged access (ADA) that was present before. Stairs to the tee box or area to get on the tee box is a little hazardous climbing up or down the steep drainage area. May I suggest a committee with the members (regular golfers) being involved for constructive feedback to help with consistency? Most other well established golf course have such committees like Handicap or Competition. I know you have a newly formed 1 or 2 person Handicap Committee with just the owner (you) and a manager. That newly formed committee was required by the USGA/GHIN. Even on the only 2 tournaments sponsored by Sagamore (we thank you) to have an unbiased look at pin/tee placements could be beneficial to us golfers that love Sagamore. Having some golfers inputs that play the course would benefit all of our concerns and not just from the owners perspective. Thanks for the pleasure of playing at Sagamore and hoping change for the better in the future. See you on your fairways soon and I know as you've said in the past to me that if I don't like how you run your course then go elsewhere. Realistically I'm not going anywhere as I do believe in changes for the betterment of Sagamore as a public golf course for us dedicated customers. read more

Best public golf club in the area. Fun holes, not too crowded during the week, and by far the best greens. Bit pricey, but the twilight golf is a good deal. Can usually get 15 holes in for half the price of 18. Very easy course. I've played there 4 times and have never gone into a bunker, (22 HC). I recommend this course to anyone in the area. read more

This a great public course that has some challenging holes. One of the biggest challenges is not to hit the wild life that roam the holes!

They pack the course and then they allow walking foursomes to tee off during prime time on the weekends. Ridiculous! There were 5 groups backed up on hole 11. If you want to watch the group in front of you tee off at every hole, this is the course for you! read more

The staff is really friends and great. The front nine is much more open than the back nine. The coarse is in descent shape however it is not spectacular. The coarse is not the longest by any means however there are a bunch of interesting holes. Sagamore will definitely not blow you away but it is descent for a nice round with some friends. read more

From my experience, the starters and staff are very friendly, HUGE plus. I have been able to get on with no tee time, get good rates, had lost covers returned. The course it very challenging as well or at least very interesting with the holes set up. However, the 3rd hole lines right up with the setting sun but is very open. You need a spotter. The only other issue is that holes 4 and 5 are right next to 95, like less than 100 ft from the tee box. Greens are well kept imo for the price read more

Sagamore is a favorite course of mine in NH. The course itself is in great shape and always offers some fun difficulty. I use the app that they offer when I play there and think it's pretty cool. I played today and had a ball of a time! The staff is awesome. I highly recommend!! read more

I've golfed at the Sag in North Hampton for years and am a big fan. Love the course, the staff has always been great. I played 9 today with my father in law (84 years old) and called ahead to make sure that carts were available because walking 9 for him is a real challenge. We played our round, had a great time as usual, and when we were through I drove the cart to our car to unload our bags. On the way back in, a women with short black hair who is clearly an employee literally "bitc#ed" me out for taking the cart into the parking lot. "You see that big sign right there that says NO carts in the parking lot? You had to drive right by it... See that! It says no carts in the parking lot!". I told her I hadn't noticed it, apologized, and remarked that now I'll know for next time... I just hadn't read it. She stated - very aggressively "WELL YOU SHOULD HAVE!" and walked off. A friendly reminder would have been totally appropriate - and I get it... but honestly, I had not read the sign. When you come off of the ninth hole along the fence, and take a right to the parking lot, the sign IS NOT VISIBLE from there. It is an A Frame sign that you would clearly have to just about run over if you were coming from the clubhouse... but we weren't... we were coming off the 9th hole... Had they re-positioned the sign, for the roadway coming off the 9th green - all set. Honest mistake on my part - ridiculous way to handle it on hers. So maybe she was just having a bad day - but this was NOT a friendly way to handle a minor infraction. I hope they are not becoming the United Airlines of golf courses... After spending almost $80 bucks for nine holes, and with an 85 year old in my cart - WTF? That's just rude. Not something you expect at a "friendly" local golf course. Traffic jam. Great course if you like to wait 20 minutes between shots and share a hole with three groups at a time. Zero organization with tee times and not worth the price. You'll most likely pay $70+ for 18 on a weekend while in season. At that price you might as well drive the extra 5-10 minutes to Breakfast Hill or Pease. read more

We golfed here on thursday.. here are the grades we gave them 1. Old Golf carts on scale 1-5. 1 pretty bad shape. 2. They charge 10.00!up charge for riding single. Booo. 3. No drinking water on the course eventhough there are water stations located through out the course. Grade of 0. 4. They insist on checking into your personal lunch bag to be sure there is no alcohol, completely disregarding your personal guarantee otherwise. Grade 0 5. Not a user friendly mgm't. Nothing Really Spectacular, Nothing really terrible either...just ok Positives: Greens were in really good shape, I wish more people repaired their ball marks but nothing the course can really do about that. Course wasn't overly challenging but wasn't incredibly easy either. Back nine had more narrow approaches and fairways. Staff was pleasant. Pace of play was good, never waited on a tee box and wasn't being hit into. Negatives: Highway traffic was overly distracting on a few holes on the front nine, a sound barrier wall should really be looked into. No water on the course, it was in the high 80's and with the humidity it felt like it was in the 90's. The water I brought was gone before we finished the front nine. read more

Two groups played here today(April 27th 2021). We have played every year in past years and I am actually in their system. What a huge disappointment! First of all, they only took credit cards in the pro shop and two people in our groups had cash so we had to cover for them. Then, in the snack bar, again they only accepted credit cards. The golf carts were horrible. I looked around at the ones they had lined up next to the first tee and realized how shoddy they were. All the corners of the seats were tattered and worn. When getting into the cart it was very easy to catch your pants on the rough edges of the seats. When pressing the gas pedal there was a huge hesitation and it almost appeared as the cart wouldn't work. This happened in two of our carts. It wasn't an early morning choke problem, but happened throughout the round. Also it is early in the season, so why are the tees so far back in the tee box? You would think they would set up the course so it would be easier for early season golfers. The back 9 has 3 par 5's and the 18th with its 420 yard distance is a par 4 so why set the tees way back in the box which makes it play like a par 5? The average golfer cannot reach the green with two miraculous shots, especially into a wind tunnel, so why make it that much more difficult. Our players are relatively good players and we like a challenge, but whoever set up the course should realize this isn't Pebble Beach. The PGA tour won't be showing up for a round at Hampton Sagamore, so use some common sense. Justin D. read more

I golf here a lot. The course plays well for seniors. using the green tees I can hit many greens in regulation making it a good design for those of us who barely drive 200. I regularly golf here and as far as public courses go I find the condition to be at the top for this area. It stays wetter than some other local courses after rain. The staff has always been great to me. I am a fan of the twilight deals (all you can golf after a time, varies based on time of year/when it gets dark, for a discounted rate) and if you get an early start time, and it's not backed up, you can frequently golf over 20 holes. I don't golf on weekends so can't speak to that crowd, but the weekday flow is typically unimpeded. Ocassionally it backs up. There are a few extra challenging greens to keep it interesting. Of all the times I have golfed here I have only seen evidence of foot golfers playing one time, and it was not intrusive. Local favorite for me. read more

Made a tee time on Monday for Friday. Was looking forward to it all week and drove 50 min to come play which is something we do every Friday at sagamore. Showed up and told us they didn't have our tee time and then blamed it on us when I spoke with the guy and said we were all good ro play Friday. Then these sucks-bags wouldn't even try to squeeze us out and as we were walking off some man said we only paid for 9 but want to make the turn and they sent them right off the back. Included in our New England Golden Passport book so we figured we would give it a shot. I'm a fan of their other course in Lynnfield so I figured how bad could it be? The condition was fine. Nothing spectacular but far from the worst course I've played. This is a course that you absolutely have to know. I hit a number of shots that I thought would be good based on what I can see and ended up not being able to find my ball. In addition, the greens are overly sloped. I've played plenty of hard courses and none of them have greens this undulating. I don't think I've ever 3 putt as much as I did during this round. I don't plan on playing here again. One positive is the staff. Everyone there is incredibly friendly. Very laid back. Unlike everyone else, I have no problem with the footgolf. I am a soccer player myself so I appreciate it. The greens are separated so it won't interfere with your round. We didn't actually see anyone out playing, as we teed off at 1:15 and were on the back by the time footgolfers would start on the front. read more

If you click on the ID of the people who left one star, you'll see that they have given one star for every Yelp review they've done. So take that into account. With a small number of reviews for this course, these Haters can really damage a small, family-owned business. It's really a shame such negative people can spread their crap around like that. Anyways, this is actually a very nice course with a varied layout and the owners obviously take a lot of pride in its condition. Some of the greens are challenging but guess what, that's golf. One of the reasons it's a life long sport is that it stays interesting by always presenting new challenges. And a couple of tough greens do just that. The more important thing is that they are consistent and kept in top shape, which means you can adjust your game and before long you've actually improved! As far as foot golf goes, I have absolutely no problem with that. If we want affordable golf to exist anymore, you better be willing to make a few compromises. There are a lot less kids interested in golf these days so you need to be creative to get them interested so your business can survive into the future. If you want an exclusive club experience, pony up $50k and take your elitist attitude there. If you want to play a nice round on a great course without the attitude and a super friendly staff, then Sagamore Hampton is a great choice! Looking forward to trying their course in MA. read more

My home course, so yes I'm a tad biased. Sagamore has a variety of terrain from deep woods to open links style holes. It's always in super condition, the staff is awesome and the setting is beautiful. Yes, route 95 is right there and on two holes you can see and hear the traffic. But once into the woods, you are away from it and you experience its charm. Sagamore has some long challenging holes and some tight tee box chutes. It also has a curious ability on the open holes to still be tough due to strategically placed traps, ditches and long rough. There are two greens that are really sloped #8 especially, making for some frustratingly difficult par attempts. Overall, The course has been there for a long time with mature trees and deep woods that really makes it special. read more

Why not 5 stars... price otherwise exceptional. I'm not a great golfer but the front 9 are open and wide allowing me to not look bad on the score card. After the front the back 9 tighten but by then you should have found your swing. Great greens and well maintained .. Played there today, young teenagers playing golf football between golf groups, NOT good. The course was busy as you would expect. When our group reaches the 10 th tee there are 6 groups of high school boys trying out for the school golf team. They are teeing off between groups making the turn. Now there is a lengthy wait to play the back nine and SLOW play. Terrible, had to leave after playing the10 th hole, beyond slow. Poor management, and not the first time this had occurred for one member of our group. When we addressed the issue with the front desk personnel, they were more than uninterested. My recommendation - AVOID this golf course. read more

I have been to the course several times in the past month and I unfortunately have to say I will never go back. First off the starter stated to my group and I "don't bother making a tee time we get everybody out" which time after time leads to course crowding, I understand the objective of a business is to make money and that's important, but stacking group after group to the point of waiting 20 minutes on each tee box is absurd. The past three times my objective was to play eighteen but after reaching almost three hours at the turn I was unable to continue. The last time I was there the group of three players in front of us were playing multiple balls and dropping several times taking almost 25 minutes a hole. I know golf is for leisure and relaxation but the lack of ranger monitoring and respect of pace of play due to improper distribution of tee time is too much. I love the game of golf and management and customer service on the course has been great, but I fear that the lack of control of players on the course will lead to less and less attendance on the course, I also hope with this negative review actions will be made because I enjoy the course when it plays at a proper pace but changes need to be made. read more
