I was new to the area and had trouble finding a new hair stylist that could cut my pixie style haircut. After trying a few studios I decided to try Sage and I'm so glad I did. Jess gives me an amazing haircut every time I go, the staff are all so kind and welcoming, and studio is beautiful. Highly recommend. read more

When you get your hair done by the owner herself you expect the best. The pictures speak for themselves. It feels like $300 down the drain(I was told it was going to be in the 200's). Very Disappointed. read more

I love this place so relaxing and always up for me and my summers wants for my hair! I am never not satisfied with Sage!

BLONDES BEWARE I never leave reviews, let alone bad ones, but a member at this salon FRIED my long beautiful blonde hair and I feel the need to warn all blondes from ever coming to this place. (Note: I can't remember the stylists name but she has black hair with purple/blue/turquoise in it) I came in for the first time asking for a full highlight/brighten my current color. I told her I wanted it to the root and DID NOT WANT a root smudge. I've been having this done for 5 years...I know it can very easily be done despite the fact my natural hair is dark brown. After it was all said and done, my roots looked like I already had about a month and a half of regrowth and my roots were brassy transitioning into bright platinum. I was initially ok with how platinum my hair despite not asking for it before I realized she completely destroyed the integrity of my hair doing so. I told her I wasn't leaving with my roots like that because that was the whole reason I came in. She said it can't be done because my hair is so dark (despite her showing me before and after pictures of a dark brunette client she turned blonde in 1 session). I told her to re-highlight only my roots on the very top of my head and NO ROOT SMUDGE. Guess what she did without my consent after highlighting my roots for a second time? She put some horrible dark gloss on the top of my head, lied about it and said "it's just dark because your hair is wet", and still made me pay full price despite the fact I was crying throughout this entire process because I was so upset over the results of my hair (and I vocalized I was not happy!) Moral of the story: this girl doesn't know what the fuck she's doing and now I am beyond devastated that my hair is completely ruined and breaking off. I went to consult another stylist in the area the very next day and she COULDN'T BELIEVE the condition this stylist confidently left my hair in. Second Picture: The picture in the black shirt is what my hair usually looks like after highlights and how my hair looked walking into the salon except for the fact I had about 8 weeks growth First Picture: I didn't get a picture of what my hair looked like after the first set of highlights, but the up close pic of my hair shows what she made me leave the salon with. This looks like what people typically ENTER the salon with not LEAVE. Also keep in mind I now have a ton of excessive breakage (I understand bleach causes breaking but I'm experiencing an unnatural amount I have NEVER experienced before prior to this salon). This is the worst and most traumatic hair experience I have ever had in my life and I am genuinely fearful for the future integrity of my hair. If I could give 0 stars I would!!!! read more

Your search is over. This adorable, super sleek shop houses phenomenal stylists and staff. Lyndsey, who works the front desk, sold me over the phone. She was extremely professional, courteous and warm. I had been with the same stylist for 20 years and Tia was able to assess and nail the exact copper color combination I was seeking on the first try. She is super smart, hospitable, and takes the time to get to know you personally and to educate you about what she does and why. I cannot recommend this salon highly enough to everyone, all ages and hair types. Warm thanks to staff! Dina read more

I gave a picture or a couple of pictures of what I wanted.... I wanted highlights. and maybe a bit of a root showing on top. and a trim. she highlighted my whole head and didn't leave any natural hair. and she could have just charged me for a all over bleach for what she did. but she didn't she charged me a lot for a all over highlight. she picked a color for my root that was sooooo dark. I really looked like a bleach blonde that hadn't gotten her roots done in a while. the toner and glaze did nothing and I was charged alot for olaplex bonding that did nothing. the cut was uneven really bad. i didn't want to sit for a full blow dry. I was upset and kinda shy. they still charged me $450. and my hair is only a little above my shoulders. I had to box dye it when I got home. it looks a bit better now. read more

I went to Sage for a single process color which was quoted at 70$ however I asked for a possible balayage if my hair was healthy enough, that would have been 150$. Once I arrived it was decided that I do a single process to cover grown out greying roots and to cover old dye. Tia did a very simple dye job then without informing me added on multiple other treatments. She also starting cutting my hair without consent. Even after putting in a few curls at the end she didn't even add any type of setting spray. When I went to go pay it was over 250$! Btw I have thin thin hair that doesn't take much of any product whether that's dye/color or anything else that she ordered for my hair. Also, I really don't want to hear about Trump while I'm a bit captive with my hair getting chopped. read more

I was referred to Sage by a happy client with simple brown hair. I scheduled an appointment to go from my natural blonde to a strawberry/copper with golden highlights. Because I had bought clip in hair extensions for my NYC photoshoot I scheduled a consultation appt one week prior to my service appt in order to make sure my goal was understood. The extensions were real human hair, dirty blonde with highlights. I brought them to the consultation. I explained that I wanted them to be dyed to match my hair color but that I wanted to keep the blonde highlights. I shared a video of what I wanted along with several pictures. The day of the service appointment, I showed up with third day hair which is usually desired for coloring. She immediately shampooed my hair and came over with a bowl of color made up. I got anxious and asked what colors she had used. She brought me a book and showed me a golden strawberry color which is not what I would have chosen because obviously that is too light given that I wanted copper. I immediately knew it was not what I wanted when my hair was still wet, and it looked worse when dry. Worst of all, she instructed her assistant to dye the extensions while she was working on my hair and not only were they the wrong color, they were no longer multidimensional with the highlights as I had wanted and communicated both in person and during the consultation. I was charged $55 for a deep conditioning treatment I didn't want that she said I needed if I didn't get a haircut. She trimmed my curtain bangs and then charged me $55 for a haircut!! Oh and it was $80 per 10oz of hair and she used 40oz so I had to pay $160 for my extensions to be ruined and $160 for my hair to not be the color I wanted. The other stylists in the salon were gaslighting me into believing that my hair matched the video and photos. The stylist without talking to me drew up highlights and red lowlights in bowls to apply. I then got anxious and asked what she was doing. I wasn't going to pay a fortune for highlights when a single process color cost me $160. Thank God the assistant spoke up and said the root looked darker in the photo and asked if I wanted that. So the stylist mixed up another 20oz of color that was a 7RC copper, what I would have asked for if given the opportunity to when I arrived. She applied the color and it wasn't what I wanted and it didn't match the extensions but at least it wasn't the ugly strawberry blonde color. I was upset about the extensions but agreed to pay for them. I was able to get the first color application to my hair taken off the bill along with the haircut. My total was like $550 and it went down to $350. I brought my extensions to a good salon/stylist the next morning and she dyed them 7RC to match my hair for $35. She said that it's not safe to highlight extensions so they were technically ruined as soon as the highlights were colored over at Sage. I just can't believe I had a 30 minute consultation one week prior and left with hair color I didn't like and extensions that were no longer highlighted. My long blonde hair never cost more than $250 for a full foil, cut and style. I knew I had specific expectations hence the consultation. I've never even asked for a consultation before. The photoshoot was really important because it's very hard to edit hair color. Anyway, I called the salon one week after my appointment to express that I was upset with my experience especially the hair extensions being ruined. I was told that the owner would be informed. I got a call 5 minutes later from the salon manager saying that the owner wanted me to come to the studio and that she needed to review security cameras and receipts. I said that I was a full-time nurse just hired for a second job and had drill for the Army Reserve that weekend, that I couldn't just come in. The owner couldn't be bothered to call me. It's been 3 weeks but I'm still upset with my experience and just not the type to let things go. I should have left as soon as she mixed up a color without confirming the shade with me. read more

My experience at Sage was exceptional. The staff was so friendly and inviting. The stylist were very talented and professional. They expertly executed my wishes and made me feel so relaxed. The owner was such a delight, laughing and advising her staff while tending to her own client. There was a sense of family. All the clients left beaming with gratitude, most longtime patrons and friends. The space was immaculate and stylish. Sage is the type of space you go to recharge and refresh. read more

This is the best hair salon I have been to in Virginia Beach. I've been to many over the years and never had this great of an experience. This is how every salon treatment should be. Not Only did I get the best hair cut of my life, I left feeling so happy and uplifted. The salon has the most beautiful decor. Everyone who works there is soooo nice :-) I look forward to my next appointment with Tia! read more

I went to Tia to get my eyebrows done. I am very picky about my eyebrows. (Meaning I don't just trust anyone to do them) after try on multiple occasions to get into my person to have them done at another spa and not being able to. I decided to try somewhere new. So I went to Tia. Told her how I like them and she did just that. I walked out happy and with perfect eyebrows. But while I was there. I was explaining how I hate how hard it is to do my hair and how frizzy it always gets. How my current salon hasn't really wanted to help me with this. After talking with Tia we decided to schedule me for today to have a Brazilian Blow out along with a haircut. OMG I love it. My hair is so soft and smooth and easy to manage now. (See photo's below) I can not tell you how happy I am. I will definitely be coming back when it's time for my color touch up and eyebrows again. Tia and her salon are awesome, so friendly and inviting. A very clean and beautiful salon. With excellent people there. Keep up the great work. You just won a new client. read more

I have somewhat thick, below shoulder-length straight hair, essentially blunt cut, worn in a variety of ways (e.g., back pony tail, side pony tail, sides upswept w/a barrette), with the length maintained for many years very simply - by cutting dry hair straight across (i.e., horizontally) in two sections (w/the underneath layer cut a slight bit shorter than the top layer). (I went to Sage, because I liked the idea that masks were required to be worn by customers and staff.) Instead of cutting two layers of hair straight across, as requested, the stylist decided to fan sections of hair between her fingers vertically and cut the ends, as held, vertically. When I noticed and repeated that I wanted two layers of hair (an under layer and upper layer), each to be cut straight across in one length, she said it would be. However, it wasn't. I took her word for it, as I was unable to see well w/o proper eyeglasses. After I returned home, w/glasses and a mirror, I noticed the cut ends were uneven, like eyelashes; also, the far right side was cut shorter than the far left side. The 15-minute haircut was $65.00. When I later spoke to the stylist about it, I found her to be argumentative and defensive, offering a recut after she consults w/another stylist who looks at it. Seriously? This is not quantum physics. No, thank you. read more
