How I left the salon (color bleeding, unevenness, NOT AT ALL WHAT I ASKED FOR)

BLONDES BEWARE I never leave reviews, let alone bad ones, but a member at this salon FRIED my long beautiful blonde hair and I feel the need to warn all blondes from ever coming to this place. (Note: I can't remember the stylists name but she has black hair with purple/blue/turquoise in it) I came in for the first time asking for a full highlight/brighten my current color. I told her I wanted it to the root and DID NOT WANT a root smudge. I've been having this done for 5 years...I know it can very easily be done despite the fact my natural hair is dark brown. After it was all said and done, my roots looked like I already had about a month and a half of regrowth and my roots were brassy transitioning into bright platinum. I was initially ok with how platinum my hair despite not asking for it before I realized she completely destroyed the integrity of my hair doing so. I told her I wasn't leaving with my roots like that because that was the whole reason I came in. She said it can't be done because my hair is so dark (despite her showing me before and after pictures of a dark brunette client she turned blonde in 1 session). I told her to re-highlight only my roots on the very top of my head and NO ROOT SMUDGE. Guess what she did without my consent after highlighting my roots for a second time? She put some horrible dark gloss on the top of my head, lied about it and said "it's just dark because your hair is wet", and still made me pay full price despite the fact I was crying throughout this entire process because I was so upset over the results of my hair (and I vocalized I was not happy!) Moral of the story: this girl doesn't know what the fuck she's doing and now I am beyond devastated that my hair is completely ruined and breaking off. I went to consult another stylist in the area the very next day and she COULDN'T BELIEVE the condition this stylist confidently left my hair in. Second Picture: The picture in the black shirt is what my hair usually looks like after highlights and how my hair looked walking into the salon except for the fact I had about 8 weeks growth First Picture: I didn't get a picture of what my hair looked like after the first set of highlights, but the up close pic of my hair shows what she made me leave the salon with. This looks like what people typically ENTER the salon with not LEAVE. Also keep in mind I now have a ton of excessive breakage (I understand bleach causes breaking but I'm experiencing an unnatural amount I have NEVER experienced before prior to this salon). This is the worst and most traumatic hair experience I have ever had in my life and I am genuinely fearful for the future integrity of my hair. If I could give 0 stars I would!!!!

Not sure if I would get the tint again but I highly recommend the lamination. Vibe is super cute and everything is clean! I'll be honest - I made more than 1 u-turn getting to the new spot, which is only directly accessible going northbound on Independence. If you're traveling south, you have to make u-turn. And if you miss it going north, you may have to make several. Now that I know where it is, I won't miss it again! Look for the red State Farm sign at the entrance to the professional center before turning in. I do really like this new spot which is solely for EA Esthetics. The entrance is lovely and welcoming, with beautifully-displayed retail merchandise to browse while you wait for your esthetician. It seems like an overwhelming selection of serums, lotions, washes, etc. but you will get an expert-recommendation after a consult with Emily or the other staff. On this visit, I was taken back for my treatment right at my appointment time. Amanda was kind enough to make sure I was comfortable before beginning - I was in for a long haul (2+ hours!). About halfway through treatment, I got chilly and she had a cozy blanket ready for me. She explained each step of the process so I knew what to expect and I was so happy with the results. I was a little scared at how dark my brows were initially, but as promised, they lightened to a perfect tint within a couple of days. Their website is so easy to use for booking and gives a detailed description of service and prices. For both my brows and lashes, it cost over $200, but this definitely seems to be competitive with other VB spas. I was incredibly happy with my results and will return for touch-ups, as recommended, in a few weeks. I have had a great experience each time I have been in and highly recommend Emily and Amanda for any skincare need!

Update: I've been coming here since 2015, and although I've gone to a couple other wax businesses,…read morethis one is my home favorite (with one other waxer I see at a different business). The feeling here is such high class and really feels like a nice & serene spa. I love shopping in the front/reception area (their cards are hilarious!) and waiting in the waiting room is so luxurious. The chairs are so cozy and the beautiful decor is always fun! I've seen a couple waxers who no longer work here (due to moving or raising a baby- hope you two girls are doing great, if you ever see this!), and I now see Starla. She's so efficient & does a beautiful Brazilian to the forestry that I grow. She has such great conversation and I thoroughly enjoy seeing her every so often! I also get my upper legs waxed every so often, and she does a great job on those, too! A total comfort to be on her waxing table (I mean, the wax sometimes hurts, since I'm not consistent, but I never shave, so you know that helps). If you're looking for a place to feel comfortable & handle the fuzz/forest, look no further than this fine woman-owned & operated small/local business.

I appreciate the ease of online booking and the confirmation texts. Walking into the space there is a sense of calm, almost like a spa experience. I love all the fun products they have in the lobby. It is a great space to stop for unique gifts. After checking in, you go to the waiting area in the back that is so beautifully decorated with comfortable chairs. I only wish they would fully close the curtain that covers the window to the arcade outside of the business. Sometimes it feels awkward making eye contact with people walking past. Starla is my go-to esthetician. She is professional and personable. She always makes me feel at ease and is so easy to talk to. I'm anxious for the pandemic to be over so more of the waxing services like chin and face can return but other than that I have a genuinely positive experience every time I go to Smooth. I wouldn't want to go anywhere else because of the experiences I've had here.
