I work out of town a lot, live out of hotels for extended periods of time, and have come to appreciate a good hotel. The sage n sand is a good hotel. I have been staying here 11 weeks now while working a construction job in town. With a great weekly rate and affordable prices for night to night stays. The owner, David, is a great man who takes great pride in his property. Diligently remodeling and updating the rooms one by one. I have had the privilege stay in both types of rooms, and the remodeling is fantastic. The rooms are super clean, well furnished, with new comfy beds. My room has a kitchenette and it came furnished with all the much needed basics to make some good meals. The property is quiet. While I'm working night shift, during the day, it's super quiet. I haven't had any issues with getting needed sleep. David is a fantastic business owner and his staff are top notch. They are to ready help you if you have any issues or problems during your stay with them. David even gives your his personal cell number upon check in so you can reach him at any time. Location wise the sage n sand is close to anything you might need groceries, restaurants, services, etc. This place is great and highly recommend it read more

2 months ago we stayed one night. The room was nice, clean and comfortable. The Owner and his wife were very nice. Now, 2 months later, we stayed one night again. During the night someone got into our car and stole several items. When I saw this and what was missing I told the owner. He showed no emotion, care, concern, or empathy. He appeared to not be surprised, which leads me to think that this type of thing happens frequently. This place is not safe and I would highly recommend NOT staying here. read more

This is a very older property, so I am rating it on a curve. We have no problem staying in high end places, and we have no problem staying in places with a rough exterior. Our room was a lot bigger than we expected, and it was very clean. We had two queens and both beds were comfortable. But I will cite my Hubby's sentiment that we are not needy people. When we stay at budget places it's because we are just looking for a place to crash out, and not have it be in a bad area. The family managing the motel was nice, and just trying to survive and make do with the property they are in charge of. We would stay here again, and the positives far outweigh the negatives. I'm writing this because this motel has to be the best kept secret of Moses Lake right now. Upon arrival the owner was so accommodating. It was so peaceful and the room is so nice. It's clean and updated and welcoming. The staff is so accommodating and attentive. They take the initiative to all of everything is ok and at the same time give you the space you need to relax. I am so happy I chose to stay here for this week. I will definitely be back and I'm recommending them to everyone I know. Thank you for a fantastic stay. read more

We had a reservation for Friday night, post an outdoor concert at the Gorge. During the day we had called the motel to advise them of late check-in. We were assured "No problem, plenty of people will be checking in late night due to the concert. Just driver over when you are done. See you soon". We go to the motel around 1133pm. There was no-one at the front desk. We rang the bell, knocked on the window. Finally saw the sign that said to dial 0 for attendant to check in. We called couple of times before it went through. Person on the other end assured, she will be "right over". We waited. Four more guests came and waited with us. No-one showed up to check us in. One after another the others left. We finally left at 1240am. Since it was a concert night, no-one hotels had accommodation (yes, i called at least eight other places). Very unprofessional and unpleasant experience. read more

This is a great Motel to stay specially during pandemic where you want your own individual entrance and air circulation. The units has individual Cold Air Condition, individual entrance, individual parking space infront. Its amazing how a single floor motel makes a difference when you play or work all day and rest. The 2Queen bed room has an amazing 500 square foot area, remodeled, clean and have fresh sheets. I used to travel alot for my job, and would ofeten be forced to stay in the city longer than originally planned. So more than once, I would frantically ask at the last minute for a room. I like to have kitchenette but this place is always full house on weekends. Each and every time they were so reliable, so accomodating and I was almost able to book a reservation in last minute. Family owned and operated, nice lovely daughter runs the front desk and welcoming father. Great price too! Food and restauarants is close by an many selection to choose. This place is in town off the beaten path(couple miles off interstate) a bit but not far. It looks like your typical small town dive motel but it's NOT! This is a very clean and quiet motel. Remodeled rooms smell good not old and musty like most little motels. The man at the desk greeted us like we were old friends. And later he saw me sitting outside on the sidewalk and brought us chairs! The bed and pillows are very comfortable too! We've traveled by bike from Florida to Seattle and now headed back and this is the best hotel we've stayed at so far! I'd give more stars if I could! Our tent trailer broke while camping at the dunes. We just needed a place to sleep with our two dogs. At check in I was told a $25 fee per dog, when I gave the gentleman the side eye he lowered it to $20 per dog. So now we are at $104 for the night. Room 11. Immediately upon walking in it smells of cigarettes. There are stains on the carpet. If they are charging people a pet fee they should be shampooing the carpet. I go to use the restroom and there is writing on the mirror. Weird that wasn't wiped off. I go to find soap and find an empty soap wrapper. Where's the soap? Oh, it's in the shower. We have one sad, holey hand towel. No other towels. Obviously this bathroom was not cleaned between guests. At this point I change the beds into our own bedding from our trailer because even though the beds look fresh I'm not risking it. The front desk calls at 8:30 to see if we have towels. We do not. They apologize and bring some. Lastly, the curtains aren't black out so the parking lot lights were visible all night. $104 for a crappy night sleep. read more

We were asked to get pool towels from the lobby. Pool? Cold but it sure as heck worked and we were the only ones enjoying on this late Friday afternoon. This experience has prompted me to join Yelp. The only reason this place has more than 1 star is because the bed was at least comfortable after a four hour drive. I logged onto THIS motels website .... Not a third party....gave all info requested and awaited an email confirmation. I called them asking to verify my reservation and was informed it was not in the system. Frustrated and very concerned with my finances. I checked my bank statement and there was a charge from sage and sand after being informed I did not exist according to their records. I then called to Confirm/inquire about this and excuses were made but I needed to rest my head. Attendant was indifferent if not rude as I entered to tangibly check in and shortly after arrival to my room,a biker gang at 11pm is revving up outside my window. This place is outdated. Run down and shady as fuck , not in that particular Order but on all counts ! Stay far away and pay a little more for a lot more !! The price enticed me but from then on... it was all down hill. Had I not checked in w my bank right away I would have been homeless for the evening with this crook charging me as I was told I was not on file !!! Terrible !!! read more

After looking for somewhere with vacancy for a couple of nights, possibly more, my bf and I landed here. It seemed okay at first, especially because when we called to check availability they allowed us to check in early at noon. Upon arrival we were greeted with an awkward stare down from I'm assuming the manager? He stood outside of our car staring at both my bf and I until we rolled the window down and told him we were about to check in, which he responded with "no Covid, no pets". I Never got his name or title because he barely seemed to understand or speak English. Anyways my bf mentioned in the reservation that I was post-covid and I was having to use an oxygen concentrator, this information was relevant because my lungs wouldn't allow me to walk long distances or up stairs as my O2 sats drop very quickly - and if I go with low oxygen levels for just a little too long, I'm sure you can assume what kind of medical emergency that can turn into equally as quickly. I'm not sure if this information was lost in translation or where that information was misconstrued but we were met with hesitation and this "manager" was now telling us "no covid, no pets" after already confirming over the phone that we had no pets and neither of us actively have Covid. We stayed out of desperation but did not extend our stay because we kept being met by this guy that keeps repeating "no Covid, no pets". He also didn't want us to book through a booking site and preferred we pay in cash, which I thought was also odd. At first upon checking in he mentioned that he would offer us a lower rate if we stayed longer, but later withdrew the offer stating he doesn't allow anyone with Covid! Also, don't expect bedding changes either because that isn't offered. Instead we were given "clean" stained sheets and told to change them ourselves. I wouldn't recommend this place unless you want to be ostracized and oddly enough, discriminated against for a post-Covid health condition. read more

I made the mistake of booking this motel through Booking.com based on the fact that the other hotels of my choice were all booked due to some events happening in the area. (I was actually able to find another hotel but due to the fact that I was arriving in less than 24 hours, I could not cancel the reservation without being charged one of the two nights.) The motel had good reviews on Booking.com and was available for my unexpected trip for work but I am not sure how they got the reviews they did. I found the room to be extremely small, old looking and the bathroom - horrible! I was afraid to take a shower in the dark, old stall only shower and the sink faucet had something disgusting on the handle. The only good thing I can say about the room was the bed seemed clean - after a THOROUGH inspection - and was decently comfortable. They also have free WiFi if you want to use it. Needless to say, I will not be staying here again and would not recommend it to anyone. read more

The family running the property are very polite and showed great hospitality toward my friend and I. We would honestly come back just because the owners were so welcoming. We booked this for the weekend while we spent time riding at the sand dunes. Our room and bathroom was clean and did not smell of cigarettes as some other reviewers have mentioned. The bed was comfortable, there were extra pillows in the closet and fully stocked towels. Is very close to the main city area and we took a walk down to the park a few blocks away. I'D GIVE SAGE N SAND MOTEL SIX STARS IF I COULD. We stopped at a couple of other motels in Moses Lake first... The room rate was about the same as these others... But the QUALITY of EVERYTHING at the Sage and Sand Motel FAR EXCEEDED anything else we saw in our 5 weeks of traveling. EXCEEDED ALL BY FAR. The motel itself is kinda like the Madonna Inn of the North... Each room has it's own individual decorating. BRAND NEW EVERYTHING... The rooms are Neat, Immaculately Clean, Warm or Cool as you choose. QUIET. Owner's Richard and Chelie are very proud of their accomplishment at Sage N Sand and they go to every conceivable length to make their guests are comfortable and happy. We were so satisfied that we stayed another night just to further enjoy their company and the lovely accommodations. We spent a wonderful evening with Richard and Chelie and went out to dinner at a local lakeside restaurant, followed up by a night of 4 man cribbage, which I had never played before. That night Mother Nature decided we needed even a little more entertainment and lit up the skies with an incredible thunder and lightning show, followed up with torrential rain. We had such a wonderful night. Back to the Motel itself: QUIET. Plenty of parking. A beautiful, perfectly maintained, sparkling blue pool. Little areas outside for socializing. Efficient air-conditioning. Very (VERY) clean and well appointed rooms and common areas. NEW TV's, NEW Mini-Fridges, NEW Microwaves, NEW EVERYTHING! The bedding and towels were sooo luxurious... WE will be purchasing that same bedding for our home. THE SAGE N SAND MOTEL IS GREAT! If you find yourself in the area of MOSES LAKE, WASHINGTON... My Fiance is staying here because my house is full of kids that don't sleep and he gets up at 3 a.m. to go to work. We finally have one night to sit and talk with each other adult to adult with no children in 2 weeks because of his hours, and since I am a resident of Moses Lake I was asked to leave their property. I could not even be in the room. Then the lady who manages the place proceeds to tell my fiance after I left that I'm their all the time, when in fact I have never been their in my life. Making false statements about a person and trying to damage my reputation is slander. read more

Cheap and Cheerful! Stayed in a remolded queen room. It was clean and nicely decorated. If you are travelling for business note that there is no desk or table for laptop use - but we weren't bothered as we were there for pleasure. The room is small and there is no tub in the bathroom. It was nice and quiet overnight which is a big plus. Everything on one level so it is great for people with mobility issues and there is no one stomping on your head overnight. Fridge and micro in the room. It is an older hotel and the room was small. We paid $60 for the night (including taxes) and everything else in town was over $100. If you are looking for a room to lounge around and be super comfortable in then this is probably not for you. If you are looking for a great place to sleep (did I mention the bed was nice?) then this is perfect for you and your budget. read more

Loved this little throw back style motel. Friendly staff, close to Hwy 90, newly remodeled, clean, exactly what we were looking for to crash for the night. Room was small (NOT in a bad uncomfortable way), neat and clean. Microwave, small fridge, window A/C unit. Shower was nice size but had no shelf/soap dish, basic shower head and was a bit dark. Office cat was lovely and friendly. Hot coffee and pastries in the office in the morning. If you are looking for a typical chain hotel this may not be for you. But I loved it! Okay, we booked this motel after reading the reviews here on Yelp and reviewing their website. Either these people stayed at a different place or they have their friends writing reviews for them. And we are the type that realize when you book an cheaper place it isn't going to be swanky. But we have stayed in a lot of little motels across the country and this one did not stack up. This place was not what we thought it would be. Make sure you get a renovated room. When we checked in they said right away "you do realize that you are not in a renovated room?". We should have walked away. Management: make it clear on your website when you book if you are getting a newly updated room or not - and what the difference is. First, the room they put us in had minimal blinds on the windows so the light from the parking lot lit up the room all night making it impossible to sleep. The parking lot is lit up like a runway. When we mentioned this to another hotel they said "they had to do that to cut down on the drug dealing". Now this could just be a case of a competitor trying to smear the competition. Apparently when the wind blows through the neon on their sign it sounds like a wolf howling. And apparently they know this is a problem but don't want to do anything about it. Just handing out free earplugs would be a cheap, kind gesture. To drown out this noise we had to put the heater on fan instead of heat all night so we froze. The toilet ran for 5-10 seconds every two minutes. To their credit when we cancelled the next day they refunded our money with no quibbling. read more

We stayed at this motel a couple of weeks age. The room looks like something from the sixties and I'm pretty sure the furniture has not been replaced since then. The pillows were some strange shape and lumpy. We had the room for two nights. I spoke to the owner and told him the A.C. was not working it was hot then freezing then hot all night long. When I returned home I notice I was charged $50 to my card I was told it was because the towels had makeup on them. I say bull shit. Don't stay at this dive, it sucks and they will keep your deposit. I was traveling out of Washington and after reading the reviews of the Sand 'N' Sage I decided I would call to see if any rooms were available. Promptly, I heard "Sand and Sage, this is Josh, how may I help you?" His friendly voice was welcoming as I asked if any rooms were available for that night. He stated he was new and if I was patient with him while he will ensure I would be very well taken care of. The customer service was astonishing and when I arrived I was greeted with a handshake and smile. The lobby was old school but very clean and welcoming. The service made you feel more like family then just another customer which was great. When I received my room key, I was pointed in the right direction and stated if I needed anything don't hesitate to call. Customer Service - A+ When I got to my room it was immaculate but to no surprise I had a newly renovated room. The room smelt great, sheets were clean and the deluxe pillow top queen bed was extremely comfortable. The only negative I would say is that my room didn't have an alarm so I had to rely on my cell phone to wake me up. (Side Note: The Super 8 doesn't have all the room amenities as the Sage 'N' Sand but cost about $25 bucks more) Quality & Comfort - A Although I didn't get into the pool, I did go over to the outside seating area next to the pool and it was very relaxing. The pool looked very well taken care of and was sparkling. The outside seating area next to the pool had several tables with umbrellas with plenty of seating. Oh, did I mention there was a BBQ grill for the guests? The only negative really about this area would be that the pool didn't come with a hot tub. Motel Amenities - B- I spoke to a few guests and all I heard was extremely positive things about the manager and staff. A lot of them were contractors working on several different projects in Moses Lake and told me that whenever they come into town they only come here. That's says a lot right there. Overall, I was extremely satisfied with my stay there and even though I may not return to Moses Lake I am very happy I decided to choose the Sage 'N' Sand. read more

The first thing you'll see upon arrival is a large sign saying the Sage N Sand refuses to serve anyone local, and that doesn't leave a great first impression. Everyone is nice enough - but it took forever to get checked in because the front desk person kept making endless mistakes ("No.. two rooms paid for on two different cards"... "Oh -so both rooms on this card..." ... "no..." ..."You're in room 42..." "Ok... but this key says it's for room 41..." "Oh!!! Haha- that could have been awkward!"... "Sooo... am I in Room 42 or 41?"... "Let me check... these rooms are on the same card ...right?") As we walked to our rooms the staff got into an altercation with someone in the parking lot which turned into a lot of pounding on doors and yelling which escalated into the cops showing up at the room right next to mine and hauling away the occupant. All within less than hour of arriving! Things didn't improve the next morning when the staff set up camp at the table right outside my non-smoking room at 5:30 in the morning for a round of cigarettes and very loud conversation. The rooms are strangely laid out and full of quirks (you have turn on the lights for the TV to work; the bedside lamps are controlled by the switch by the door). The "amenities" are non-existent and when people call this a "no-frills" place they mean it. ( you'll find a single teeny bottle of very poor quality shampoo and a bar of soap in the bathroom which has only a shower and no tub; no hair-dryers or irons provided). The rooms have no coffee-makers - only a small microwave and a tiny mini-fridge that gurgles constantly. "Breakfast" is a basket of stale, pre-packaged "pastries" and coffee in paper cups "served" in the office. No matter where your room is (I was in the very back) you'll get LOTS of loud 18-wheeler road noise constantly. This place seems to cater to "Gorge" concert-goers who need cheap over comfort - but this place definitely does NOT cater to business or professional travelers. (I saw on one website the Sage N Sand calls themselves a "four star" motel. Wow... not even close) read more

Also I was told they will only let pets into the old not yet remodeled full bed rooms. Hum, not very pet friendly. What you will find is a nice comfy bed..what you WON'T find is...blackout shades! the room was flooded with light at 6 am. There was no bedside table on my side of the bed..no alarm clock..there was a microwave..but no utensils..not even a glass in the bathroom for when you brush your teeth..no coffee pot.. The walls are paper thin..just normal conversations were heard thru the walls.. I thought tha name meant it might be by the lake..it is right off the highway and all you see is a big parking lot.the rooms have tacky plastic flowers and plants..
