Our experience with Sage Oak has been amazing. This was our family's first year transitioning from traditional school to homeschooling, and from the very beginning we felt supported every step of the way. The registration process was smooth and easy, and I really appreciated all the classes, resources, and support offered to parents. As a first-time homeschool family, I had so many questions, and the one-on-one guidance we received helped us learn the apps, understand the systems, and get both of my boys comfortably settled in. The teachers my sons had in 4th and 5th grade have been absolutely wonderful. They have been supportive, encouraging, and truly made a difference in our experience. I have also been very impressed with the IEP support. The team reached out early, guided us through the process, and has been incredibly helpful throughout. We felt supported from the beginning. One of my favorite things is the transparency and technology. Parents have real-time access to student calendars, assignments, grades, and progress, which makes it so easy to stay involved and support our children. The materials, technology, communication, and overall support have been outstanding. Most importantly, I've seen such a positive change in both of my boys academically. The teachers here love what they do! We had Miss Christina Trujillo the first year, for 2nd grade and this is our second year and we have Mrs Sarah Good, for 3rd grade. Whenever you see someone in their element and enjoying themselves it's almost as though you are watching art being created! These teachers have an art of teaching that resonates with the young ones! I am so thankful that we were recommended by another mom to start our children in this school! This is the best program I have found through my research. A brick-and-mortem school is the old way of doing things in my opinion as this virtual learning and homeschooling seems to streamline the experience and waste less time. I tell everyone I know to try this out and every time they end up staying! read more

VERY disappointed in Sage Oaks Charter School and their admissions process. I am certain there are excellent teachers at this school but the Registrars office is a different story. Staff is rude and treat parents as if they are a problem and bother to them. I was snapped at by a staff member when checking on the progress of my student's application. What this school does not understand is that we (as parents) are trying to plan for OUR students education and if our student is not admitted and enrolled then we do not want to wait until the last minute to find options. COMMUNICATION from this school is very, very poor even after they collect all of your personal documents. I am hoping someone in school administration see's this review and addresses the very poor attitude in the Registrar's office read more

New update. The last two years the teachers allowed my son to fail out. I was in touch with them and they told me he was doing get. I pulled him from. The school now. The other issues is when I return the books they lost one and is now they want to charge me for it. I dropped it off at the end of the year school event. They do not give you a list of item return. Warning to everyone, record what you return. They said they will mail me a return label for the Chromebook and I never received it and now they want to charge me for those too. This school went downhill the last few years. I cannot recommend them any longer. They are so frustrating to work with. read more

Don't expect them to call you back and if you do fill out the paperwork to get on a wait list , if you don't continue to call to let them know you still want to be on it they will take you off.... This made our first year of homeschooling very difficult and their apathy was disappointing read more

Worst Charter school. You should highly consider choosing a better Charter school option. They make it very difficult to use your child's school fund and provide not direction on what is approved but most of what you spent will be rejected. Many other Charter schools do not do this. Staff is not helpful when asking questions. They have different answers and just seem to make things up as they go. read more

I am a parent who has tried repeatedly to cooperate and communicate with Sage Oak Charter School, but my experience has been extremely disappointing. After I expressed that I felt uncomfortable with my child's assigned teacher, who once emailed my daughter a couple of time at 10pm. I made light of it and asked was he on a different timezone. Mr Perez has been consistently rude unilaterally scheduling meeings and sending me emails about the meeting. When i don't see it or attend he reported to the Principle that I am non compliant. The teacher has been dismissive and I filed a complaint with the school. This school has refused to accommodate my concerns. Instead of listening they began retaliating against us they scheduled meetings without asking my availability, assigned a time and place, and treated my discomfort as "non-compliance." All of a sudden we are at risk of being kicked out of the school. My daughter is an A and B student currently enrolled in Pre Cal with a strong B as a Junior so grades and attendance is not the issue. I almost feel race is at play here. I only say that because it feels like they want us to just attend so they can continue to collect money for my student and deal with whatever card we are dealt with and our concerns are moot. The same teacher ignores important academic emails but rushes to contact us only when deadlines affect his own compliance. My daughter's schedule is even disorganized -- her history and English classes overlap, and no one has corrected it despite multiple requests. When I raised my concerns to administration, I was treated as if I was overreacting. During a recent meeting, I calmly explained that I felt uncomfortable meeting with this teacher, yet the principal said "this is not the appropriate time to talk about that" -- even though that was exactly what the meeting was about. They even had the same teacher present in the meeting, making it more uncomfortable. I even told them I would meet with anyone else. It didn't matter who to stay in compliance. Theh said no it has to be him because I signed a contract that I would meet with Mr. Perez. I told them they are also held to that contract. Now the school is documenting my family as "non-compliant" instead of addressing the actual issue. This is not the kind of support or professionalism a family should expect from an educational institution. Parents deserve to be heard, respected, and provided with a safe and responsive learning environment for their children. We left public schools for this exact type of treatment. read more

I have had my 2 daughters in brick-and-mortar schools, hybrid schools, online public schools, and charter schools. Each has its positive and negative aspects. Oak School VLP SB region has so far met my child's needs in both academia and social life. Though not every situation is perfect, the school and staff do their best to meet every family's needs and concerns. Like every school setting, your child's success is determined by how much involvement the guardian has in their learning and social growth. As I have mentioned before; when I have had concerns, Sage Oak's staff reached out either to route me to the correct department or personnel or to assist. Enrollment and the beginning of the year are a bit hectic but again you will be assisted, you have to have patience and follow up at times; Just like most situations in life nowadays. My daughter completed Kindergarten and I am thrilled with how far she has come. She took speech for three years and TK and in Kindergarten unfortunately they didn't offer an assessment. However, her Kinder teacher was aware and helped my daughter excel. My daughter no longer needs speech, can read (sometimes needs help), math is above grade level. I love that this school pushes their students to their full potential. They are open to any questions and answer promptly. I chose Sage Oak, because I didn't like the school district we were assigned to. VLA program is amazing. My mom watches my daughter and even she learned how use a computer, learning with my daughter, etc. I can go on and on, simply great curriculum and standards above most traditional public schools. read more

As a vendor for this school for almost a decade (along with several others) they have recently made themselves hard to work with. I have several students who have begged me to sign back up but they now require certain items, such as a website, and when they go through it they won't approve you if a link is not working, or it doesn't have what they want. Even if it fulfills their "requirements" they will translate those into something else, such as having a "working website" means no link on your site can be "broken". Lots of working websites have a broken link and it doesn't mean the site is not working. Then they tell me, after approving the site over 2 weeks time, that I have to pre-record my tutor lesson or do in person lessons (amidst the pandemic) but live virtual lessons are no longer allowed (last year they were all that was allowed and that is the only way the students are allowed to meet with the sage oak teachers). So basically I can either visit with a dozen+ families (and contaminate all of them if I become infected) or give my students a pre-recorded lesson where they might as well just buy a dvd of lessons somewhere else to save $. Tutoring doesn't work that way. I sense a lack of common sense here... The staff is all but helpful. They don't seem to care about how it affects their students. It doesn't affect me since my sage oak students pay me out of their own pockets right now but it bothers me because they shouldn't have to. Many parents have decided to move schools because this became an issue with their vendors so it's just a matter of waiting this year out. All my other charter students with other schools are blessed with payments by their schools. Springs Charter School, in comparison, has been much easier to work with. read more

I started working for Sage Oak just after the 2021/2022 school year began, soon after I saw what they had to offer I transitioned my own children to Sage Oak. The 2022/2023 school year will; be our first full year and so far the journey has been amazing with Sage Oak. There is a high standard for teachers and students while still allowing flexibility. read more

My kids have been with Sage since they started. I think it's a great charter. I find they respond extremely fast to any questions. The only area we have had any issues in 5-6 years is field trips. The staff in charge, has been less than patient and sometimes very rude. read more

My Daughter and her friend have been attending and do all their work together. They ended up with 2 separate teacher facilitators, and have been given different workload expectations with no real assessment of learning abilities or capabilities. After 5 months without any form of communication about the possibility in face to face meetings, I received emails about performance improvement plans with 2 learning periods worth of work to complete in 2 weeks. Which was a lot more than her friend's teacher was having her complete, and with no improvment plan issued to her. They seem to let the teachers do what they want with workload based on no set expectations. If you are looking for something more independent from the public school, I would not suggest them. read more

Both my kids are a solid year ahead in math and ELA. We have been with Charter Schools since pre-K and followed our amazing TF to Sage Oak a few years ago. The school will allow you to find the best tools and resources for your kids. They are there for help and guidance anytime. It's been an amazing program for us and has allowed the kids multiple other opportunities. They have more time for extracurricular activity and can advance in their studies faster than in traditional school. They both test above grade level on their state testing as well. We have an amazing program and our curriculum works for us. We do pay extra for some classes. Education is important. read more

This is my first year homeschooling and I love it and more importantly my son loves it. My TF is amazing. She makes it easy for me to contact her. She answers questions immediately or within 24hrs. She orders items immediately as well and if there is any delay in an order she is on top of it by calling the company to figure out the issue. She also makes it easy for my son to talk to her during our monthly meetings. There are so many opportunities for socialization for the children. There are park days, field trips, social events (reptile education, lending library so far but more events to come), also trips to college campuses. The curriculum options are amazing. I chose curriculum that was not common core. The opportunity to change the curriculum is there. If I feel it is necessary to adapt to my child's needs I am able to adjust it. The curriculum is paid through educational funds SO IT'S IMPORTANT TO RESEARCH BEFORE PURCHASE. The educational funds are NOT REIMBURSED once spent. Once you run out of educational funds you're responsible for purchasing additional resources or curriculum. read more

We were with Sage Oak Charter for only 6 month's and it was a horrible experience. The cirriculum we ordered in Summer at the beggining of the school year didn't come through and there was no response from the Vendor. I tried ordering a second time in December and the same issue occurred. We also waited 2 month's for his Science experiments which my son was supposed to receive monthly but never did. Then once our TF finally received our Waldorf Curriculum we had to move out of the area and the Charter refused to give us it even though it was considered non-reusable. To add they also cancelled our 2 field trips at the last min. We arrived at one of them and hadn't been informed. We had been asked by the TF if we would still be attending and I said yes because we had previously paid for them and also I paid put of pocket for the adult. It was clear all they cared about was the money and not enough about the principle and doing what was right. I've known other's who have gone through Charter's like Inspire and never had these issue's. I thought positively at first but now after all the hassle would never recommend Sage Oak. read more

This has been a very good homeschooling experience for my daughter and I. I have Mrs. Holton as our T.F (teacher you meet with once a month that helps or doesn't help whatever you want) she's been amazing. I told her I would like her to be involved and let me know how she thinks my child is doing and so far she's doing great. This gives you the chance to homeschool but with help if u need it. I don't feel so lost I have someone I can ask questions to. They do field trips and park days as well so there's opportunities to meet families going the same route. They allow your student to have a set amount of money to buy their school books (that you get to hand pick!) and field trips with and extra circular activities with. They have everything from singing, dancing, karate, cooking, you name it they have it. My daughter is in preK and so far it's been a good choice. We hope this is our school of choice for my daughters years in school. This is also considered public school so if tomorrow I wanted to put her in a traditional Monday-Friday public school I can. Update: The year ended today 6/8/18 and it was a success. I am so glad I found this charter homeschool. I highly recommend Sage Oak! read more

I love Sage Oak and our T.A. is fabulous. Miss Katie make things so simple. She gives home schoolers as much or as little help as they need. I love that she stops by my home each month and keeps us accountable. We get around 3K in home school funds for each kid which actually goes pretty far. We were new at it this year and I am overjoyed that I made the choice to home school my 4 girls. First, and most exciting is that by dropping out of public school, we got our family life back!! At public school, we often had 2.5 hours worth of homework and much of it was "busy" work. God forbid we wanted to go out to dinner or watch a movie on a school night! No chance. And this was when our triplets were in SECOND grade and our older child was in third. Don't get me started on Common Core Math and what we had to go through with that. Now, we do all of our school work during the day and there's no early morning scramble to get to school. How nice! My kids have made huge progress learning this way. One of my daughters has epilepsy and thee public school had her in a Special Ed class that was horrendous. Her goal last year was to write her name. So pathetic. Now she is reading! Of course, we do it with outside help including tutors at Kumon and Within Reach. Seriously, I feel like we stepped off the hamster wheel of life. I can't recommend home schooling enough and especially through Sage Oak. read more

This school is a joke! Gives children very little support, gives parents no back up. Will not allow you to change courses if even deemed too hard. Gives special treatment to different parents and kids. If you are not one of the "chosen ones" you get little to no support. If you ask for a new TF they will not give you one. I will not be telling anyone anything good about this school. If your child has any special needs please don't even enroll. I thought this school would be what our family had been looking for they promise more then they can give. The TF we had talked down to us and belittled my husband who has a Masters degree. The TF acted like we were beneath her and like she had no time for us. What a waste of my time and our child's. This school could care less about you and your child's needs. This charter school is the perfect fit for people who want to homeschool their children but want a little support. They offer a teacher to help guide you through the process of setting up lesson plans and setting appropriate goals for the year.
