This place is NOT organic. My hair fell out in clumps after coming here. My hair is now white :(. I am soo gutted.

This was a truly terrible experience. I went to this salon specifically because they advertise as being organic and a place that places the health of your hair first. Not only was the work done absolutely horrible my hair was bleached and clumps of my hair fell out. This is false advertising. The salon did refund my money however I am just totally gutted at the state of my hair. The salon should not be in business. Please be careful.

Inka is a master hair colorist, she put highlights in my hair, transforming the color from harsh black to soft chocolate...she's the best!

I had the most WONDERFUL experience at Sage Salon! My hair was in desperate need of lightening and I was very fortunate to have stylist, INKA TURCO, do the job. She MASTERFULLY TRANSFORMED my harsh, shoe-black hair to a velvety chocolate brown! She was infinitely patient and thoughtful in her approach, I never felt rushed. Importantly, Inka uses ORGANIC hair color, which means a lot to me as a health care professional. Furthermore, she offered ideas on how she could modernize my hair cut for a more youthful appearance. This woman is GOLDEN! I so appreciate her delightful personality and excellent service. I'm so happy I found Inka and look forward to becoming a long term customer of hers at Sage Salon. Highly recommended!

Recently, I had the Keragreen keratin hair staightening process which Inka recommended & I absolutely LOVE it.

Fantastic salon! I've been going to Jess for waxing for a dozen years and to Caitlin for haircuts…read morefor about two years. Both do amazing work. Front desk staff is highly professional and friendly and the salon is always immaculate. I am almost always able to get the time slot I need for back-to-back appointments with them, and the best part is they never, ever run late. I don't live in Mill Valley and I'm very busy with work, and I cannot stand it when I drive for half an hour to get to an appointment and the stylist is running half an hour late. This never happens at Milvali. They have a wide variety of high-quality products for sale but they don't push product. They always offer coffee or water, and they have little treats in the rooms. It's a friendly, community- and customer-oriented professional salon with a positive energy and friendly staff. Which is why they're very busy.

Milvali salon feels more like a assembly line chop shop vs high end salon experience. I've had two…read moreservices here and both fell short. I had a haircut here, which I ended up waiting for the stylist for over an hour. When she finally saw me she said it was bc some scraggly haired woman with her extensions came in last minute demanding she fix her hair, and so she spent hours re bonding (or whatever the term is?) the hair. I'm not trying to be mean here, but the woman had very fine blonde hair that was bob length and got hair down to her waist. My aside here is ...ladies...can we just love what we have and maybe do any enhancements in moderation instead of totally going overboard with the extensions down to our tushies?! And, yes, I was rightfully upset bc I had an appt and this woman did not, yet I had to wait for my scheduled service?? Totally doesn't make sense. The kicker was when I told the stylist she should have rescheduled me if she was going to be so late, and her response was that she didn't want to lose another customer that day. Welp, she definitely lost me as a customer, because I'd never go back to her. The cut was okay but overall a mind boggling experience and a waste of my time. The other experience I had was getting a facial from an aesthetician. I specifically let her know I didn't want any animal tested or animal products on my skin. And yet, she slapped collagen on my face (and it wasn't marine collagen). She also didn't do any arm or neck massage, which is odd because with all the facials I've had at other places, I've always had a light massage while a mask is on my face. When I asked about the massage, the aesthetician said she leaves the room while my mask is on vs doing a massage. Additionally, she kept using the term "anti-aging", despite me sharing that I'm not against what natural process happens to us all, and I don't like language that makes us hate a natural process. I think (especially in a spa or salon setting) there are far more positive terms we can use to describe caring for our skin. Rejuvenating, refreshing, aging with grace, naturally enhancing...sounds far more from a place of love and acceptance for ourselves than "anti-aging". From both of these less than par experiences, my take away was that I was in a low caliber salon, and not a specialized, leveled up establishment. It's been a year and I haven't returned, nor would I recommend this place to others.

There are so many great shops, cafés, and places to wander before or after an appointment. Pros: Online Booking - Super easy and convenient. Salon Atmosphere - Clean, modern, stylish, and welcoming. Haircut Skill - Very good! I was happy with my haircut. Con: Stylist Tone - The only reason I'm not giving five stars is my experience with Susan's communication style. While talking with a coworker, she used the word "retarded" to describe a TV show episode she didn't like. I understand she wasn't directing it at a person and had no way of knowing that I have a child with disabilities, but it's a word that's difficult for me to hear. Others may feel differently, and I'm not suggesting there was any ill intent. It simply left me feeling that we weren't the right fit. There were also a few comments that came across as dismissive or condescending, though I don't think that was the intention. For example, when discussing the condition of my hair, the delivery felt more like a scolding than guidance. As the saying goes, it's not always what you say, but how you say it. Overall, I found her communication style sharper and more pompous than I personally prefer, and I tend to gravitate toward a warmer, more down-to-earth vibe. To be clear, this is not a criticism of Susan's technical skills. She gave me a great haircut, and I genuinely love the result. For me, it was simply a matter of communication style and personal fit. Overall, I would absolutely return to the salon but with a different stylist and recommend it because the con is very much a personal preference thing, nothing related to the skill or salon environment itself.

I was a bit disappointed with my recent blowout with Susan. I paid a fair price and read good…read morereviews online. Although I liked the end result I didn't like how I was treated. She constantly commented on how much hair I had and it just ended up making me feel bad about even coming in. The first comment she made to me was "ugh I will be here until tomorrow". The whole point of me booking the service was to have help with my thick hair for an important event. I don't get blowouts often, and visit Marin frequently, so I really wanted to try a new place. I would like to emphasize that my hair looked good, however, I felt as though the people skills were lacking. Due to this I would likely not return. I tried to contact the salon to voice some concerns and they were pretty unresponsive/ didn't seem to care.
