Juliana is seriously the best!! I've been to so many different stylists and colorists from living in a few different places, and I can truly say she is one of the best people I've ever trusted with my hair. I came to her after having a pretty bad experience with a previous hairdresser that caused a lot of bleach damage, and she has helped me SO much with getting my hair healthy again. She is incredibly thoughtful about what she does and really takes the time to figure out what is best for your hair. Nothing ever feels rushed or one-size-fits-all. I just wanted layers and my hair is wavy which I told my person, but unfortunately I think she was in a rush and the layer length is so far apart in the front/it looks almost like bangs and she cut in the middle of my wave pattern which totally set me back months of progress with curl training. She was really nice but just kind of a big let down that I'll have to get fixed somewhere else now. I reached out to Juliana (Juli) to get a full balayage and she definitely understood what I wanted. This is my first time EVER getting my hair bleach + toned. I was nervous because I've never done nothing to my hair and I knew that Juliana was the right person to go to. I let her have full creativity as I knew she is very professional. Terrible experience. This review is for color with Devon. When my hair was wet, and pushed back from my face, it looked uniform, and good. I erroneously assumed my hair would be blended throughout. During the blow dry, she came over and chatted with the person who did my blow dry. Then she left before it was dry. She never checked back. I didn't realize how bad my color came out until after I'd left the salon, after I left tips. It was when looked in my car mirror. No blend between the darkened roots and rest of hair. Furthermore the color is literally spotty in some places. That evening, my SO said it looked like Devon was careless, and that it looks like when I was doing the roots myself during COVID (untrained and with heavy root lines). I'm utterly embarrassed by my hair. Even after washing, it still has this mix of spots and lines. read more

I would leave zero stars if i could. I made the mistake of scheduling my appointment the day before leaving for vacation. Now I have to go on vacation with patchy bright orange hair :( I came in for a consultation for a cut and color last week, and Erin told me the price of my full service. I confirmed with the front desk to schedule me for a color AND haircut. One week later I arrive for my service and I am informed they don't have time to cut my hair. The woman at the front desk tells me that there must have been some miscommunication instead of apologizing for the mistake. My hair colorist then assured me that she heard me book for a haircut as well. My flight leaves the following morning so I cannot book for another time. This was my first issue. Erin then asks me what exactly i want done again. I told her my (brown) roots (shown in the first photo) are grown out and I want them dyed to match the length of my (auburn) hair. I made it very clear that I don't want the top of my hair lightened at all because I am concerned about the integrity of my hair. She doesn't understand how to dye it this color, even after the consultation so I showed her a swatch of what i thought matched my hair. I am frustrated at this point because my request was simple: Pick a color that matches my current auburn color as close as possible. She ends up using 20 volume developer with a bright orange and uneven application to my roots and processes it until my roots are all lightened to a neon yellow and orange. I was in complete shock and told her I don't like it so she toned it darker and assures me it won't cost more. As you can see in the after photos (same bathroom lighting), the toner barely worked. My roots are still bright orange, yellow, blonde, and patchy. The bottom layer of my hair was previously dyed blonde, and she said she would tone that layer of my hair to a peach tone. I'm not sure what she did though because it looks the same, just more yellow I went to the front desk to pay and my total was $55 more than the initial amount I was told, and this is without receiving the haircut! There was an extra $40 for a conditioning treatment, that's fine. This leaves my total $15 higher than what I was told. This price would have been no problem at all had I been given an accurate price per service last week at the consultation. Firstly, I am denied a service that I booked; Second, I end up with a completely different color (or colors) than I had asked for, and I'm being charged not only for the full service that i did not receive, but extra?!? I could've used a $15 box dye and gotten more consistent and accurate color. I am at a loss for words about how unprofessionally this SHITuation was handled. I am a full time student in college and I work full time. It was saddening to spend even more of my hard-earned money than i initially agreed to for a hairstyle i feel ugly in . At the very least please learn to give your paying customers accurate price estimates. read more

I've been going to Alexa Bynum at D&O for six-plus years now and she's hands-down the BEST stylist i have ever had! She does my cuts, partial highlights, balayage, etc and just "gets it" - these days I just let her do whatever she wants and it always comes out stunning. Even her styling skills are top-notch; and she's as friendly as they come. I've also been to Danny for makeup and hair before a couple of events, and he's outstanding. Plus anyone who's ever filled in while Alexa was gone (eg on maternity leave), the assistants, the owner, the team at the front desk - all have mad skills and are friendly and welcoming. Simply put, Lily and Danny at D&O Salon are rock stars. Lily (my trusted hair stylist of nearly 6 years) styled my hair and Danny did my makeup for my wedding on November 1, 2019. They both also did the hair and makeup of my 6 bridesmaids, onsite - no small feat! These two are as talented as it gets, and I am forever grateful that they spent my wedding day with me making us look and feel glamorous and camera-ready. This review is for Danny. He is a saint. Just, LOVE HIM. I meet with Danny, and before even doing anything, he sits next to me and introduces himself. Eye to eye, he tells me about who he is, his training, what he heard I wanted to do today and what he had been thinking about doing for me. He asked me questions about my routines, my usual hair products, how I typically wear my hair, how I want to wear my hair. I know these seem like obvious questions, but seriously, the details... are.... EVERYTHING. Most sylists have not asked me these simple questions, and I leave unhappy. Danny wanted to know who I was, what I wanted, and then explain how he thought he would be a good match for me. So, so appreciated. He got started. I was actually in and out. And I'm telling you, I have been to places where I was literally there ALL FUCKING DAY. Several clients stacked one on top of the other in an effort to maximize profit. Not Danny. Perfectly even spaced for I had his every bit of attention when I needed it. I went from color, to the dryer, to the sink.... oh, let me tell you about the sink. Here is where the details really take shape. While washing/shampooing/deep conditioning/etc, he set a hot towel under my neck. I have been to dozens of stylists over the years, dozens upon dozens, and never has someone taken the time to include this little detail that I so appreciated. Before leaving the sink, all of a sudden I am mid-massage! Whaaaaaaa??? Fabulous, fabulous neck, scalp, head massage. I would pay him just to do that-- it seriously felt that good-- but I digress. He whipped me into shape back at his station and I was good to go. I am returning to go just a little more dramatic with my color. We were a little tentative, but it was our first meeting and I didn't want to go too far and he didn't push me. But one thing is for sure, I would trust my precious locks in this man's hands and if I'm going anywhere from now on, it's too far. I place my ultimate trust in his hands with hair, makeup and advice for both. I was seen on time, got out in a jiff, and will absolutely be back over and over. It is really, REALLY difficult to gain my trust with hair. I have had so many really awful experiences, and my heart is warmed and comforted to have met someone like Danny who knows exactly what to do and keeps me laughing while he's doing it. Go to him. I give 4 stars for my haircut that Ali (a junior apprentice I assume as I was her hair model) gave me. For the first time I got that "cool-girl" LOB that I was dying for and I was obsessed. I called the next day to book my future haircut with her for 6 weeks out because I was that in love with my hair. However I am giving 0 stars for the way that future appt was handled. When I called, I was told that Ali wasn't on the floor yet but that my name and number would be passed to her and I would hear from her soon. It has now been 2 months and not a word. I understand that she didn't have a chair yet and called every few weeks for an update but every time was told the same thing. It wasn't until the 4th and final time before I gave up. I don't know if Ali even got my messages; they never offered to see if she was working on the days that I called or given me some kind of contact info for her but I tried to schedule with her so many tines and really loved my haircut but now I will go somewhere else. It's poor form not to communicate to your customers what is going on or suggest another solution; why lose business at all. I know that I didn't pay you for my hair cut because I was a hair model but I tipped on the full charge and am doing the salon a service as well as hair models are necessary to the trade and profession. I am disappointed that I wasn't able to maintain my perfect LOB. read more

I went there six months and had Diana do my highlights. I informed my biggest concern was that I wanted to keep my hair from being damaged and had waited at that point four months to do any regrowth. She told me that she was going to advise me to do high lift tint versus bleach and then did my hair. Diana applied the high life tint over my existing highlighted blonde hair and not just the virgin hair. I told her that I didn't want any brass or golden but she said the color would be a cool beige. Diana didn't even rinse my hair or blow dryit and never came back to review how the color looked. The assistant blew out my hair. The color was a brassy blonde not beige and they tried to tone it but it wasn't a cool tone. My longer hair which was overlapped with the high lift tint was extremely dry and damaged . I found out later you are never suppose to overlap existing highlighted hair with high lift tint . The end result is that the already highlighted hair didn't retain the color so eventually I had three colors on my now very danaged and breaking hair. I have waited six months not touched it. It's not worth going back there and I felt she did this on purpose. She was cold and very aggressive with me when I was in her chair. I didn't want to give this review ; however if I can prevent another customer ruining this hair from this woman and expensive salon I will . The damage is done so please don't let trust them there with chemicals on your hair . It's going to take me two years to grow out and money can't replace this and I'm still devestastaed Update 3: Response to Oskana. There is nothing that can be done to repair my hair at your salon except wait for my damaged hair to grow out and trim . The sad aspect is that if Diana has only colored the regrowth with the highlift tint the damage would of never happened on the longer highlighted hair. She was busy that day and also doing balayage on the other employee Devon who mocked me here on Yelp. You can find me in your system on Erika who made the appointment for me in June. I would never go to the extent of complaining unless it was serious . Diana should of cared enough to blow dry my hair and check it before I left the salon. She didn't care. read more

I have thin, fine hair with no texture and no body. Hairstylists often recommend a bob of sorts, which makes my hair look okay but doesn't suit me overall. I had to leave my last stylist who went into revolt when I told her I'd like a cut that would help me grow it out, telling me it's just not possible with my hair and still retain any sort of body. I was so lucky to find Lily at D&O. She worked magic giving me a cut that is so flattering, much easier to take care of then any previous cuts, and is giving me a the few inches growth I wanted while still looking fabulous. I'm sure she does great work with hair that is more compromising, but if you've struggled to find someone who gets your hair, ask for Lily.
