Sage Spa was a mirage in the unforgiving dry, hot, HOT desert!
I was in Palm Springs just for the day with my mom. It was on a Sunday, so of course many places closed early, including the day spas. I lucked out when I saw the Morongo Hotel, Casino, & Spa and I saw the opportunity to see if we could use their spa and possibly have dinner before we headed home.
We found the Sage Spa after walking through the Casino (*cough *cough, smoking is allowed there *cough *cough) and Lobby. After speaking to the spa front desk, I was able to purchase a day pass but they only had 25 minutes massages available. I didn't want one, but my mom took one and we were escorted to the women's lounge.
On our way to the women's lounge I noticed the layout was a little bizarre. You have to walk through the spa reception and through the retail shop in order to reach the door to the women's spa. In the area of where that door is, there is also a staircase and an elevator. I didn't see the men's lounge, so that must be on another floor? When we reached the spa lounge, I checked out the Spa water. It was Strawberry, Orange, Mango, and Basil. DELICIOUS. I was already feeling a little dehydrated, with it being 111 degrees outside and all so it was a nice beverage to cool me off.
The facility itself was pretty small. It does have plenty of lockers, a small sitting area, bathrooms, vanity, sinks, showers, eucalyptus steam room, sauna, jacuzzi and a dipping pool. Again, I wasn't going to complain. I was thankful that they were open and they had what I needed. I was also lucky that it wasn't very busy so I was able to enjoy the serene environment. I noticed that the Spa staff was always visible and prompt. Good. The facility always had clean, rolled towels available and I never saw any used towels laying around and there was always someone around to help you.
After relaxing for a while I changed my mind and asked if the 25 minute massage was still available. It wasn't, but it was ok, I was happy to use the facility. After several minutes, I was told that they were able to make it happen. So me and my mom waited for our appointments together in the lounge. When it was time to be picked up, a very nice therapist named Lily came and got me and my mom. We went back to the elevator room and took it up a floor. When I came out, I saw a long hallway with treatment rooms and a great room to wait in. I also saw the hotel gym. After a couple of minutes I was introduced to Heather. She was wonderful. *Let me tell you now that one of the reasons why I need to Spa was that I had a tragic and stressful weekend, so I was emotionally and physically stressed*. Heather sensed this, and she gave me a therapeutic head, neck, and shoulder massage that was enhanced with lavender essential oils. I was reduced to silly puddy by the time she was finished. It was exactly what I needed! My mom had Lily and she said she was terrific. We were driving throughout most of the day so we definitely had some kinks to work out and our therapists seemed to do the job!
Pros:
~Always visible and helpful staff, always prompt service
~Gilchrist and Soames shower and body products
~Clean facility, plenty of amenities (AWESOME Spa Water!)
~Great massage therapists! Good job Heather and Lily!
~Noticeable super soft and light linens on massage bed
~Stoked that they could fit me in for a 25 minute massage
Cons:
~small facility. It wasn't an issue with me but it can be to others, esp. on a busy day or with a large group!
~Layout is kind of random. We didn't mind but maybe it could be a trek for the elderly or the disabled. And like someone mentioned in a previous review, some areas they bring you through can be public (hotel gym, close to pool) so be comfortable and decent when you walk through!!! read more
