From my 1st interaction making an appointment, to the greeting when I entered the business, to the dressing room and finally the service, the experience is top notch! I needed a massage so bad, I needed it as soon as possible. When I called to explain my agony, I was so happy I was able to be fit in that day. I booked a couples massage for my wife and I following our wedding and we showed up at 2pm on a Monday during the time we had agreed upon and no one was there nor did they answer their phone... despite claiming to be open 7 days a week. I was skeptical originally to book a massage here, but I'm so glad I did. I read some of the reviews prior to booking and a few people said to do the float before the massage so that's exactly what I did. The flow was so relaxing. I think I fell asleep. My body was in so much pain when i came here that the float alone made me feel tons better. I showed up a little late because I drove an hour and hit traffic on my way but they still let me float for approx 40 minutes... an hour would have been perfect but next time i'd probably do a longer float. The massage was perfect- honestly one of the best massages I've ever had. They used a few hot towels throughout the service, provided a robe and slippers so you can shower before and after the float... my body feels 20x better than when i walked in here. Wow! Just finished a double-feature at Desert Serenity and can't remember feeling so relaxed. The Float experience was heaven and set the stage for a 90-minute massage with Linda, who is a domain expert. She might be the best I've experienced in deep tissue and she provided informative tips and suggestions about my alignment that will be beneficial for future maintenance. My husband and I along with another couple came in for a couple's float and two individual floats. Easy to place reservations via phone. Greeted by friendly staff, and she showed us the ropes as this was our first float. Clean facility and comfortable setting. This is totally my opinion, but most likely will let this be my only experience at any float therapy. I did not care for the humidity within the egg/capsule you're floating in and floated with the latch door fully opened for the duration of my float. The private room was still dark with a small battery operated candle. Watch out not to get the salt water splashed onto your face as it will burn. Spray water bottle just an arm's reach. If this place were in Los Angeles I would be here all the time. This was an incredible experience that I cannot wait to repeat. I had floated once before years ago and it took me a while to get comfortable. I don't know that I ever fully relaxed. I had a small cut on my hand that was super distracting from the harsh sting of the salt water. Obviously you don't want to shave anything the day you come. It seems they have thought of everything here. Vaseline to help protect cuts you may have on your body, floating headrest and ear plugs. Each room is private with a shower, towels, body wash and shampoo. Let me say I don't like enclosed spaces and I don't like sensory deprivation, but I wanted to give this another shot. I'm so happy I did. It may take you a few minutes to get out of your head and settle into it, but once you do it's out of this world. I felt like I was actually drifting out of my body. Evidently this is not uncommon. Just when I thought it couldn't get any better, after an hour of floating, I had a 90 minute massage with Steve, which turned out to be the best massage of my life. I never go for deep tissue when I'm on vacation. I don't want to cry or be in pain, but I let him do it. His techniques are so subtle that I just let him do his thing. He was amazing in the way he teaches. He shared with me why I was having issues in certain areas, what I needed to focus on and explained things in detail. I usually don't like to talk, but this was an education about my own body and one I really needed. I would encourage anyone to be vocal about your issues and have him help you fix them. I had several aha! moments with Steve. My husband was also very happy with the session. He told me his therapist was excellent and shared that you need to have 10 years experience before you can work here. I cannot wait to come back here! My boyfriend and I went for our first (and certainly not last) time in June. We had a couples float scheduled before a couples massage and I 100% recommend that you do them in that order. Overall we had a LOVELY experience and can only hope we find someplace similar near us before our next trip out to Palm Springs! Onto the nitty gritty: The float, while intimidating at first, was basically a chill nap for us both. From my understanding, it's supposed to be a very zen and meditative experience, but I was happily floating in a half-nap. We talked to the receptionist about it before the massage and he agreed it can take a couple sessions to achieve that zen feel. Normally that would come off as a ploy to get me to come multiple times and spend more money but with this place, it felt very earnest and genuine. I would gladly come to this exact location often if it weren't hours away. For those curious or concerned about what the float entails, you're basically in a dark room floating in salt water for a 60 or 90 minute session. I think there are individual pods so I can't speak to those, but the couples room didn't feel claustrophobic at all. We were worried we might feel confined, especially considering you're doing it in the dark, but it was very relaxing. There's also a button you can press if you do need a little light. Just be careful in case you have any cuts- it'll sting in the salt water! The receptionist helping us (I wish I had his name, he was so friendly and helpful) gave us some Aquaphor to cover cuts up before going in. We went with a 90 minute session because I figured why not? It didn't feel long at all. If anything, I probably could've gone even longer because I started to actually fall asleep once our session was over! The massages were amazing. The room had the perfect atmosphere: chill, serene music, fans on to keep us cool, and very minimal lighting so I could see our masseuses but overall still dark. My boyfriend has chronic back pain and we mentioned this beforehand. He's had issues with masseuses before it's always a gamble for him, especially at a new place. The woman he was paired with at Desert Serenity, however, was exceptional! Just the right amount of pressure in the right spots. The man I was paired with was also great! They both quietly would check in and see how we were doing with the pressure but we never had any problems. I'm pretty sure I fell asleep and snored out loud at one point before I caught myself. The couples massage was definitely the highlight of our trip here. Overall, super happy with our time at Desert Serenity Float and Spa. We definitely splurged, but it was well worth it. First of all, I would like to say that my family and I have been coming to the Desert for over 30 years. We own multiple properties in Palm Desert, Palm Springs, Cathedral City and Indio and have always been treated with the upmost respect and have never had any issues. With that being said, today my wife tried to call and reschedule an appointment we had booked yesterday due to an illness. When she explained our circumstance, the business owner Diana very rudely told my wife that she would be charging our credit card anyway. She did not offer to reschedule, she didnt even ask if we were ok. She was only concerned about securing money for services she did not intend to provide. When I called back, I immediately asked for an apology for my wife. I didn't ask for a massage, I didn't even ask for money back, I specifically asked for an apology for the way my wife was treated on the phone. The business owner Diana replied by insulting me directly by questioning my financial situation, my integrity and my character. She also made an age comment saying "what are you 80?" Because the massage was supposed to be for my birthday. I'm no where near 80 but my mom and aunts are. I would hate for someone of that age to have to experience age discrimination from a "healing" service such as this. After hanging on me. I called back and Diana said she was recording my phone call. I told her that it was illegal to do so and she does not have consent to do so. Regardless, I again told her what I wanted, an apology. She went on to say that she Owned a 6 million dollar business and that I, a respected community activist, church member, and doctoral graduate student should and I quote "leave the Desert". It is clear that Desert Spa is in desperate need of $200 despite being an alleged $6 million dollar business so they can keep the money they received for services they did not provide. However, if this is truly what it means to be a part of this beautiful Desert community then I will in fact leave and never come back. Because this ain't the desert I know and love. *note the owner has posted several updated replies to my original review. They continue to lie and most importantly, still haven't apologized. I will not be responding to them because I know what the truth is and every nasty updated response from them Is an example of what type of business this is. What an incredible place! Today I had my first ever appointment at Desert Serenity - including my first ever float experience. And, it was awesome! From the moment I walked in, the experience was top notch. Clean and well appointed facilities, very clear explanations of what to expect from my one hour Float, then one of the best deep tissue massages I've had in years from Paul. The float was so peaceful and calming, I even fell asleep. Overall the prices are also very reasonable! And to top it all off, at the end of the massage I got some champagne since it was my birthday! My wife surprised me with a couple's float and Swedish massage. Admittedly I was a little nervous about being in a pod. Turns out the couple's tub is large, and in fact, not a pod. For my first float, I'm glad it wasn't a pod! Anyhow, we were brought to the float room, and everything explained to us very clearly...they definitely pay attention to all the details. The float experience was fantastic, and I'll be doing it again for sure. It took me a little bit to find my comfort zone, and once I did, I fell asleep. In fact, my wife fell asleep too, and woke me with her snoring! After we showered off and put on our robes, we had a lovely couple's massage. We left there incredibly relaxed. I took my twins here for their birthday. This place was amazing! All the ladies I came in contact with were so friendly and sweet! There had been an issue with getting two estheticians, but they made it up by offering a float session for one of my daughters. My daughter loved the float experience and definitely would go again. She said it was relaxing and hard to explain. They have a notebook full of people's experiences written down in the relaxation room. It's a must read. Both daughters had facials and they absolutely loved them. They both said they felt so relaxed and fell asleep. The three of us all had massages. OMG! This was our first time here and it was amazing! First, I was able to get my questions answered before we even drove to Palm Desert! At home, we were looking for things to do in the Coachella Valley on-line and found this place. We were curious about the whole process and they were friendly enough to accommodate us! Second, we got an informal tour of where the bathroom is, where to shower, change and even saw the pod and float cabin. Third, Mike was friendly and helpful in introducing us to some of the CBD products. Will definitely be coming back, results for my lower back and shoulder pain is pending... My boyfriend had a different experience than me; it took him awhile to relax and get used to the sensory deprivation experience. He tried the float pool noodles provided to ease his stiff neck during the float but it didn't help. He finally did relax and afterwards felt energized! I had an amazing experience; there was a point where I couldn't tell if my eyes were open or closed because it was so dark. I was comfortable with the water temp and quiet -ness. I felt like I was being cradled and being lifted up and forward a little bit! Then I started seeing a purple swirling nebula (like the ones in space)! It was weird. After awhile, I had to stretch my neck and bend my knees. I was getting stiff and next time will try the noodles they have provided. When the music started up again I thought I could just reach over and turn the light on. But I had to sit up and feel around for the buttton; I was smiling and thought to myself, I must've drifted at an angle or something! I felt so turned around! I was refreshed and felt like I just had a massage! I showered before and after and that only added to the energy I felt after the float. It's a great, relaxing place with a nice post float room. Treatment and customer service is phenomenal. I always feel wonderful when leaving here. While I didn't do the float (claustrophobia), my spouse did and came out a new person. Just amazing. My only note is the fee structure. It's not a gratuity when it's mandatory, and that is 20%. There is a sign saying they are cashless, and charge another 3% for using a card. I just wish they were a little more transparent- this is not something we can do regularly, so a surprise charge was somewhat stressful- the exact opposite of the goal. read more

Brilliant experience today with two wonderful roommates (birthday treat for one of them). Book your appointment now and be completely refreshed after your time here. Zac (please forgive me if I have spelled your name incorrectly here) is a fantastic host. He explained everything clearly and kindly and was a very calm, soothing presence for our first time floating. Thank you so much for everything. The process is fairly simple- shower with soap/shampoo first so nothing off of you gets into the float water, experience your float, then rinse off afterwards. It's usually all lights off to have the full experience, but if you're even a little nervous about the dark, they definitely have you covered there. There are options for lights and closing pod lids, or not, so no need to be intimidated at all. The water is just deep enough and gently warm, and because of the salts, you will be pleasantly buoyant. My face never went below the water; at all times, I felt completely weightless and safe. Everything is clean, quiet, and conducive to a meditative state of mind. Shower, earplugs, shampoo, body wash, towels, and several other amenities were provided today (and emphasized as needed). We even had some lovely teas and cups provided and some time afterwards in the back waiting area to regroup with each other. No need to bring anything extra unless maybe you have a specific shampoo/soap/earplugs/towel that you absolutely must use at all times. This float was just what all of us needed, as extremely busy and generally stressed people. I'll be back. Anyone reading this: don't wait, do yourselves a favor and make your float appointment now (with all of their other offerings too, while you're at it).
