I…read morerecently gave birth at the Kaiser Redwood City hospital, and Kristin went truly above and beyond. My baby came a little early and my partner and I had to go to the hospital at very icky early morning hours -- Kristin was there for us during the labor and delivery and provided such incredible support, more than I could have ever imagined. It was incredibly helpful to have her by my side to remind me how to breathe properly through the painful contractions. The nurses come in and out of the room, but Kristin was 100% focused on me and I cannot find the words to express what an incredible difference that made. I will share that I had initially planned to go into labor with the likelihood of needing an epidural, but with Kristin's help to attempt an unmedicated birth (at my request, as a stretch goal), I actually ended up doing a natural unmedicated birth! Seriously, if Kristin had not been there with me, I would have just given up immediately and asked for an epidural right away. I am so fortunate to have had Kristin as my doula by my side. I was even told by one of the very seasoned nurses that I was lucky to have Kristin there, as she's one of the best doulas! I highly recommend Kristin if you're in the coverage area. She's so supportive of the plan you have (the most important is that you're informed and comfortable), she provides so many resources to help with preparation and anxiety reduction, and she's a really hands on / visual coach. She also vibes so well with everyone around her. I am so so so thankful for the incredible support from Kristin.

I was interested in having an unmedicated birth, but wasn't fully prepared to understand how to or how committed I was to that desire - as I didn't have a good sense of my own pain tolerance. She talked me through what to expect and helped me vocalize my motivations, both of which really helped me commit to the decision. I also credit her guidance in my partner successfully supporting me with counter pressure throughout my active labor period, while she was an extra (much needed) hand. Also - when Kristin says she's there to support your birth, she means it ! She was ready for my 2am birth trip, and also was a great extra hand during my transition period and pushing to help ease the pain. My hospital birth team at RWC Kaiser was also familiar and happy to hear that Kristin was my doula - I felt so supported. Thank you, Kristin !!

While Stork and Sprout does have some excellent doulas on its team who provided great support and coaching, my experience with the agency's leadership was overwhelmingly negative. We had a particularly difficult time with Brittany. She demonstrated a pattern of manipulation, gaslighting, and lying, both to us and, from what I understand, to her own employees. Our contract promised consistent coverage, but the scheduling was erratic and communication was poor. We were left to wonder many nights if we would have support, and for several weeks, we only received 1 to 2 days of support instead of the 6 to 7 we paid for. When we requested a refund for the services not provided, Brittany refused and even fought our bank with out-of-context emails and more lies. She claims she "offered a refund" but is even today refusing to honor it as she says in the response. The lack of professionalism extended to some of the staff as well; one sick doula was sent to our home and intentionally caused our newborn physical pain. Brittany treated us like we were the difficult ones and responded with empathy-less chatGPT emails to manage the situation. We were also led to believe we would have one primary doula with a backup, but over the course of our service, we had seven different doulas come to our home. This complete lack of continuity made an already difficult period even more stressful. Based on my experience, I would advise new parents to skip Stork and Sprout and work directly with an independent doula. You will not only save the 30-40% extra fee the agency charges for scheduling, but you will also avoid the toxic and difficult management. This experience is unacceptable for a service that costs tens of thousands of dollars and demands payment upfront months ahead of providing the service. We were not able to switch easily due to the inflexible Carrot reimbursement process through the employer.

She guided us through everything--from how much to feed our baby, to understanding fussy phases, to answering all the little questions that every new parent worries about. One of the biggest gifts she gave us was sleep. Thanks to her guidance and support, our daughter was sleeping through the night by 12 weeks, which made such a positive difference for our whole family. Because Fernanda cared for our baby overnight, we were able to get proper rest ourselves and truly enjoy our time with our daughter during the day instead of constantly feeling exhausted. She also remained calm and dependable in unexpected situations. During a small earthquake one night, she stayed with our baby, keeping her safe and comforting her in the crib while I made my way to the room. That moment really showed us how trustworthy and composed she is. Fernanda is warm, knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely cares about the families she works with. She helped make what can be an overwhelming transition into parenthood feel so much smoother and more enjoyable. We are incredibly grateful for her support and would wholeheartedly recommend her to any family looking for an exceptional postpartum night nurse.

Fernanda was a life saver: We immediately felt at ease with her, and it was a huge relief to have someone we could trust caring for our baby overnight. We were actually able to get some sleep early on, which kept us sane. Our baby comfortably sleeps for a long stretch at night in her bassinet thanks to Fernanda. Fernanda also helped us get set up for longer term success with sleep. This included: - Advice on setting up the nursery before the baby was born so things were easy to grab. - Sleep conditioning. This included things like advice for our baby's day routine and advice on creating the right environment (room temperature, whether the room was dark enough, etc.). - Guidance on how to handle the baby on nights when we were on our own. - How to swaddle our baby. Our baby was a swaddle escape artist, and Fernanda showed us how to swaddle in a way that actually kept her arms in. She generally made our lives easier by with: - Washing pump parts and storing milk. - Reports in the morning on how our daughter did overnight. - Gear suggestions. The essentials list she provided before the baby arrived and when we asked for ideas were all on point. - General advice: recognizing when our baby was ready to go up a diaper size, identifying when she was ready for a faster flow nipple on her bottles, how to burp the baby and help the baby pass gas, and other things that take time to get a feel for as first time parents.

After meeting Arrieanna virtually, we immediately felt comfortable with her. We worked with Arrieanna for the first 12 weeks after our son was born, and her support was invaluable. She provided overnight newborn care, helped with feedings, and offered breastfeeding support, including guidance on latching and reassurance about what was normal. She also taught us practical newborn care skills, such as swaddling and how to use various nursery items we had received as gifts. What stood out most was her kindness, positivity, and communication. Each morning, she provided detailed updates about feedings, diaper changes, and our son's overall disposition, giving us peace of mind. After a C-section and delivery complications, the overnight support allowed my husband and me to get much needed rest and be more present during the day.
