Sagemont preparatory upper campus is hands-down. The best school and my son has attended. It has been challenging to find a school that is willing to go above and beyond to assist my son's academic success. We have struggled with various private schools, but nothing compares to Sagemont and what each and every teacher has provided. They devote themselves to the success of your child. Sagemont saved my kid. They loved him and raised him with me from K-12. My son is autistic, has ADHD, and suffers from anxiety and depression. He was always a good student. but the school provided such a loving and nurturing enviornment that he blossomed. He has lifelong friends after years of struggling, went to prom, joined theatre, and he is autistic as much now, as then. He is getting ready to graduate from UF, double major, graduating Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa, and just got a full scholarship to UF Law School. Real world experiences. The class sizes are perfect. The clubs... the best. My son was in the Aerospace club and he went to NASA for an Aerospace competition with the school. Our daughter attended Sagemont for 3 years of high school. Initially, she was hesitant about moving from the public system, where she had her group of friends, to an environment with smaller class sizes. After about six months, I asked her directly, did we make the right decision? She responded, Absolutely, I LOVE Sagemont. In her three years, she was able to make lasting relationships with students, teachers, and administration. Sagemont was an environment where everyone knew and cared for my daughter. I do not think she would have made the same level of relationship in the public system. To top it off, in the year of this pandemic, the school went out of their way to make the senior's graduation something special, memorable, and thoughtful for the students. I actually shed a tear when my senior stood up in our living room when her name was called. That took an exceptional amount of care and planning by the administration to pull off as if we were in the gym. Sagemont is incredible! My son started here in the middle of his 10th grade year. After a poor experience at another school, Sagemont has made him excited to go to school every day. Because Sagemont is a small school, it gives each student individualized attention and more influence in group activities. My son is a graduating senior. He has attended The Sagemont School from sixth grade through 12th grade. I have never, for one day, regretted the decision of sending him to this school. His teachers and classmates are like family. The administration knows him by name and understand his personality. He began in the Mountain Peak program, which guided him, addressed his needs, and taught him to organize his thoughts into palpable actions. The Mountain Peak program focused on executive functioning skills, time management, and social interaction. My son was diagnosed with AD/HD at the age of 5 years old. He also had (has) characteristics of being on the Autism spectrum. This incredible school, with its wonderful program, Mountain Peak, helped my son embrace who he is while learning organizational skills, reach his academic potential, and excel at arts, both dramatic and artistic. Eventually, he phased out of the Mountain Peak program and took all regular courses, many of them honors and, finally, in his senior year, an A.P. course. I have two children who are very different. I did not send my daughter to this school because she enjoyed a large school environment with many sports and many more options for electives. Although the Sagemont School is small, the impact that it makes on its students will stay with them forever. I owe so much to the Sagemont School for shaping my son into the independent, responsible, and socially-adjusted person he is today. He will be attending a 4-year university on his own merits and is much more considerate and compassionate than many other students at his age. I know The Sagemont School had a big part in this. Tour the school, talk to the administrators, see if it is a good fit for your child. I have been with the Sagemont fam for quite some time now and love it! My daughter, a recent graduate of Nova University, graduated from Sagemont. My son, a recent graduate of Sagemont (class of 2020), will be attending Nova University in the fall. Both received full scholarships to Nova University and I do believe it was their preparation at Sagemont that helped them land these amazing scholarships. My youngest child is currently attending Sagemont. She is in middle school and she loves it. I have been a part of Sage, for some time and I can be honest... there are no annoying cliques and you do not see kids being alienated. I have not heard of a situation where a child has been bullied, or that there was a fight. Kids are so supportive of each other and the Sagemont teachers are really encouraging. The office staff and custodians are really a wonderful bunch. The head of School - Mrs. Nelson, and the Principal - Mrs. Dennis, are the most down to earth and lovely people you can meet. They are both extremely approachable and super welcoming. They are fantastic leaders! This is my son's first year of high school. We decided to send him to school in person as that was an option at Sagemont. I had countless emails regarding the start of the year. All emails were answered quickly. We also had an orientation with the administrators and many of our concerns regarding safety as well as information on classes were answered. The safety precautions that were put into place completely eased my son. I could not have asked for a better first week. My son is happy. He has made a few friends. He likes his teachers. We were the last family that would probably consider private schooling. Our son had attended All American basketball camp at Sagemont Upper campus for the past nine years but we always put him back in public school in the fall. While he did great at Falcon Cove in 7th grade, we both wanted a smaller school environment for him. We knew the basketball coach extremely well and our son was always considered a part of their basketball family, often sitting on the bench during games. Sagemont exceeded our expectations in every way. How, you ask? - Small class sizes - Individual attention - ALL the teachers knew our son's name and would watch out for him - His writing and public speaking dramatically improved, thanks to his great English and Mock Trial teachers - His self-confidence sky rocketed - During the school shutdown, while our daughter's public school at Zoom sessions for 1-2 hours per week, our son attended classes online from his normal 8:30am - 2:30pm with much higher expectations than his public school counterparts - The school shared information much better than the public school our daughter attended - We liked the school so much I started substitute teaching, volunteered, and helped to raise funds for the athletic program - We liked the school so much we are strongly considering sending our 6th grader there next year instead of to Falcon Cove. There are financial sacrifices involved but we know our son (and potentially our daughter) will have that special bond with his high school that's hard to attain in a larger school. The school has strong academics and a great family atmosphere. There is NO bullying at all and I was touched at how all the students looked after the special needs children.
