On day 5, we were contacted to let us know the team's quote was WAY off - $2700 was due that day, which was their discounted rate for the week, and they were less than 1/2 way done with the project. They quoted another $3000 to $4000 to finish the project, or told us they understood if we found someone else to finish the job. Now, we get to move into our new home this weekend that is missing trim in half of the house and is filthy. I'm disappointed because the work that was completed looked pretty good, hence the 2 stars, but that is some terrible quoting, business management and customer relations. I get that mistakes happen, but charging 5x what the original quote was is NEVER acceptable.

I've used Ball Brothers Painting Services since 2017 and I am still using them in 2025 (for decks, exterior and interior painting, for custom cabinets resulting in a beautiful finish, and for fine finishes on exterior doors). I've used them during major remodels and between renters when I rent our guest cottage. I started using them when I realized that my DIY work did not cut the mustard. Their response time is excellent. My calls are returned same day with an on-site bid evaluation quickly scheduled. Their new employees are apprenticed with seasoned painters. Their employees tend to be happy and stick around from job to job. They work quietly when I am working from home and clean up the job site at the end of each day. I think A sign of a good painter is their ability to fix mistakes and flaws left by DIY crews (that would be me) and construction crews (they calk, spackle, putty, float ...) Their edge work is admirable and skill even enviable (says the DIY'er). Their work is supervised and audited for quality by one of the Ball Brothers before the job is declared finished. They always put in that extra effort which pleases me (because I'm picky but don't like to nag). Ball Brothers have reasonable pricing and serve Austin, Buda, San Marcos, Dripping Springs, Blanco, Wimberley. Thank goodness because I just moved from Wimberley to Austin and I would use no other. I had a very expensive job done that started to detach. The spot that is detaching is a spot I happened to bring to their attention beforehand to ensure it wouldn't be a problem. They said it would not be an issue and they will "fix" it before installation. What do you know? Not even a month later and the coating is failing in that exact spot. They, of course, refuse to take responsibility for it and said they would come out and repair it for a fee. I paid the fee (against all I believed in) and they canceled the appointment later and said they are moving locations and can no longer come out for repair. So they can't repair their own work, a problem they created. How convenient. They said there are other companies out there. Really? Excuse me? Allie was very rude on the phone and hung up on me and not professional at all. I was not yelling or being rude. I was simply asking her questions, but she was so short and had no care. Wouldn't you have questions as a concerned customer about what the heck is going on when you're just being left out to hang dry? I don't need another company that did not do the work to come out and repair the work. I need the company that I signed contracts/agreements with to hold up their end of said contract/agreement. They are so quick to make you sign something saying you will be liable to this document but it's okay for them to just back out of it. I cannot believe this is happening. Wow.
