    Really good sangria

This place was so cute and quaint and you can sit outside or at the bar. It's small but popular for their sangria so when you're in the Newark NJ check out.

I've just had my first Portuguese food experience and was happy it's been here. The waiter was from Portugal and knew the menu inside and out. I had two empanadas to start to be safe and they were excellent. One beef, one chicken. The bread was extremely fresh and tasty with the little pieces of extras from the appetizer and adding butter. For dinner I settled on the Bitoque. I wasn't disappointed. It was a thinner steak topped with a dark garlic type sauce comparable to Worcestershire. I recommend this restaurant for sure. Good food and great service!

    Cheese fries.

I could give more stars. It's a nice place with open doors to the street and friendly staff, perfect for summer nights. Yummy drinks, but their cheese fries are a joke. If it was my business I would be embarrassed to serve such thing (see picture). They threw four cheese slices on the top of the fries and I guess put them inside the oven. The fries were soggy and the cheese was disgusting. I would remove it from the menu. It's just bad.

Ambiance: loud, vibrant The restaurant is intimate. Our group of 12 was the largest in the diningroom, there were other group tables besides ours. Service: So-so. There seem to be only 2 wait staff who functioned as a bartender, bus boy and food runner. Our waitress was decent in terms of friendliness. Unfortunately, it took about 2 hrs to get our food. One member of our party's food came out wrong despite waiting that long. Not the waitress' fault, the kitchen had a hard time getting out our food. Food: Appetizers: portugese sausage - was kind of like a kielbasa. Empanadas (chicken & corn was good but the beef one was not cooked all the way through, it was cold in the center) Brazilian croquettes were filled with shredded chicken and corn, it was tasty! Fried calamari was kind of rubbery. Entree: Paella valencia ($40) with half a lobster was a bit too soggy and salty. Otherwise, it had a decent amount of seafood in it.

Amongst our group of 13 people, we all had issues connecting to the WiFi and the tv. I convinced the front desk to give us an iPad to manage the music and that also wasn't working. I called the guys to the room multiple times to troubleshoot and it still wasn't working. We fought with the technology throughout the whole 3 hour reservation which really made it difficult to enjoy the experience. During the times it was working, the app was glitchy and we had difficulties seeing the queue and skipping over songs. Also, one of the microphones was barely working. Additionally, before booking I inquired amongst a number of places to compare prices. We picked this place because we were told that there would be an assigned server to our room to allow us to enjoy the open bar experience and not have to step out to the bar to get drinks. Upon arriving, I was told that wasn't the case, even though it was in my email. After a lot of back and forth, they finally agreed to come serve to our room but there were still times I had to leave the room and chase them down. I have done karaoke many times and this was a very stressful experience.

There's also a large parking lot out front, so parking was easy and convenient. The rooms themselves were decent, but the karaoke setup definitely felt outdated and was harder to use than expected. There were two ways to select songs: using the Korean karaoke system or a Samsung tablet connected to YouTube. We ended up using YouTube, but the system was frustrating to navigate. The tablet had a thick film over the screen that made clicking difficult, and searching songs had to be extremely specific for karaoke vibes (for example, typing "Love Story KTV" instead of just the song name). It was also inconvenient trying to queue songs while someone else was singing because you had to minimize the current video to search the next one, making it hard for the person singing to follow the lyrics. On top of that, every time we tried adding songs to the queue, it would accidentally click into another video and cut off the current song mid performance. A lot of time was wasted just trying to search and add songs. It would be better if they allowed Bluetooth connection to personal devices instead, so adding songs would be more efficient, just a thought...

The first interactive feature was the cool red carpet plus step & repeat featuring the name of the space(an ode to the 90's colloquialism "word is bond") Upon entering you can tell the founder was very intentional with the placement of each & every nostalgic piece of black art. It's a beautifully brilliant ode & execution of black culture, our layered nuances, our style, fashions, phrases, beauty & brilliance. This space is a content creation haven filled with endless creative possibilities. Naturally you'd think this was a pop up selfie museum, but it's much more. Not only is this space designed to go down memory lane of the 80's & 90's, you can see and touch some relic gems. You can rent the space for special occasions such as Birthdays, art showcase, book signing, just to name a few, the whole space can be transformed to fit your individual need. From the lovely living room set adorned with animal print wall paper, beautiful black art, quotes, a rotary dial telephone, a cozy couch with colorful throw pillows & last but not least a working record player with plenty of old school vinyl to set the mood. In a nutshell, this colorfully curated establishment is a must to experience & create fond memories that'll last for years to come. There was some people that set up food in the back but it left a trail of an odor that was not appetizing. Drinks were ok at best but when I asked for a cup with ice it seemed to be an issue. Very off putting. Not quite sure what the issue was.... The bartender brought the manager over and I had to specify I wanted it for my beer. Yes, I'm a weirdo if I don't get a frosted glass, I'll take a cup with ice. The manager proceeds to ask me ; "So you want me to pour the beer into the cup with ice?" UMMM yes I don't mind pouring it my damn self but if it makes you more comfortable, knock yourself out. It truly didn't make a difference to me who poured it, I just wanted some damn ice to cool myself off! I'm not sure what type of sketchy and shady people they deal with but I am not the one. My boyfriend and I run a good tab on drinks, give me what I'm asking for and paying for! Meanwhile, I did not see just about any of the 30-40 people on the dance floor buy a drink. I then saw hookah's on a table and the price list. Unfortunately, they were not providing hookah service that night. So why have them out? Whewwww I love my house music community and love the Lincoln Park festival that is close to the bar but this past Sunday this bar and crowd missed the mark. The only redeeming factor was the DJ. I highly doubt I'd return unless it were to vibe out and dance to a DJ I reaaaaallly love.
