Such a quaint space with delicious food and a welcoming staff. We sat at the bar and Gabriel guided our decisions. We started with the Caesar salad. It was crisp and deliciously dressed - served in a Parmesan shell. I had the chicken piccata where the taste was exceptional but the chicken was a bit on the dry side. Every visit gets better and better .... If you haven't been to Five Corners in Newark, what are you waiting for? Delicious drinks, friendly service, mouth watering food in an upscale atmosphere- sign me up! I dropped in for lunch and HAD to try their honey Dijon chicken special, served with a side salad. I don't even know how this is possible, but it tasted even better the next day (the slab of chicken was more than enough for two servings). My date tried the chicken parm and he couldn't stop raving about it (he also had enough to takeaway). For drinks, I tried the Sangria spritz on their special menu and it was delicious! Parking is very difficult. I had to park 2.5 blocks away. Nice Ambiance, modern & clean. Comfortable booths in addition to tables & chairs. Friendly staff. Interesting menu selections. Never before did I ever see Pasta with "Beetroot Sauce", Shrimp, Almonds and Ricotta! Very different, I had to try it. Very rich and filling. While I enjoyed it, I don't think I'd order it again. Had a great dinner here with my mom and aunts. Beautiful and clean space with a very warm and cozy ambience. The fried calamari and shrimp was fresh (not frozen) and perfectly fried. The sauce it came with was sooo good! The spaghetti and meatballs were 10/10. The sauce was very flavorful and wasn't acidic. The meatballs were so tender and moist and perfectly seasoned. The branzino and shrimp was delicious!! One of my aunts loved her chicken parm. My other aunt had a creamy pasta (forgot the name) with steak, she thought the pasta was very fresh and perfectly cooked, and loved the sauce but the steak was overcooked for her liking. The sparkling sangria and passionfruit margaritas were great. Service was great! Our server was very pleasant and attentive. The owner was really nice as well. Visited this location after attending an event at Prudential Center (short drive). The ambiance is very nice inside and the staff is friendly. It started a little rough with service when I first got there as it was apparent they were short staffed, until about mid-way through Dinner when additional staff came and the Manager was helping out a lot. The food was very good and tasty with pretty decent portions. The meatball app was excellent. The Ceasar salad comes on a cheese bowl but tasted stale and was too difficult to eat. One of my new favorite places that's a hidden gem in Newark. All the food is great. All the drinks are superb. Nice little intimate restaurant for a date or even to meet with a friend. It's part of a group of sister restaurants in the area that include some delicious Georgian and Italian fare. The place itself is tiny, and feels like a better spot for a few cozy drinks than a larger meal. I came as part of a large group of people, and we had a wide array of apps and mains, including burrata, calamari, salad, chicken, arancini, and more. Each was good quality, though I'd say none was such a slam dunk that I'd say it was a must try. Folks did enjoy the desserts as well, including tiramisu and cannolis. read more

Walked in on a Wednesday night (they have all evening happy hour in Tuesdays and Wednesdays). Was greeted and asked my choice of seat. I choose to sit at the bar. Enjoyed a nice bottle of pinto and ordered the mussels as a stater. They arrived in quick order and the mussels were delightful. Would have loved a crisper bread to sop up all the lovely sauce. Then ordered the seafood risotto for my main. It was nicely loaded with various seafood and really creamy. Then ended the evening with a glass of this house made limoncello. We were seated immediately in a cozy booth. The restaurant is lovely inside with chic textured tile walls, a swanky bar, and classy tablescapes. The menu is on the smaller side, but filled with all the best sounding options. Warm focaccia was delivered to our table with fresh olives, olive oil and balsamic. It was super delicious! We then shared the seared scallop appetizer which was also phenomenal - pro tip: save your bread to dip in the divine sauce that comes with the scallops! I met up with a friend at five corners restaurant to catch up and it was conveniently in Ironbound area of Newark. Parking was not too difficult as I was able to catch a free spot right next to the restaurant. I'm glad we went during the day during lunchtime, because the restaurant was not busy at all when we walked in. We were greeted by a young man who was like the Jack of all trades. Nicolas was our server, the host and the bartender. Nicolas was friendly and helpful when we couldn't decide on beverages. The restaurant is beautifully decorated with wonderful neutral tones, green plants, plenty of natural lighting and the music was also on point. We felt very comfortable there and could sit and people watch if we had no where to go. We were the only ones in the restaurant for the majority of our lunch, so we are glad that it didn't take a long time for the bread (no olives) to come out, and the rest of our food came out in good time. The food was good not amazing. We did enjoy most of what we ordered. We ordered the salmon tartare and it did not come with anything, no crackers, bread or chips, which we thought that was different so we requested bread with it. What we didn't like was we noticed that the avocado that came with the salmon tartare was Brown/dark olive, which we expected to be bright green as fresh avocados are green. I didn't care for the salmon tartare especially since it didn't look appealing. We ordered the Chicken Marsala and the Chicken Milanese and both were good. The chicken Marsala came with mashed potatoes and was better than the chicken Milanese. Since I checked in on Yelp, we were able to taste one of their desserts! We chose the tiramisu... and it was okay. We probably should have tried something different. Hopefully next time. We also ordered two of the spritzers, I had the blueberry one and it was refreshing... but I couldn't pick up on the blueberry flavor. Overall it was a good experience, Would I come back? I came here for dinner on a Sunday night. It was pretty empty inside with 2 other people sitting at the bar. While we were dining, 2 other people came to dine in. I ordered the aviation cocktail, which I enjoyed. I also ordered the arancini and the porcini mushroom tagliatelle. They served us some bread and assorted olives while we waiting for our food. The bread was nice and soft and tasted even yummier when dipped in the olive oil/balsamic mix. I was not a fan of the arancini AT ALL! The cheese in the middle was an overkill and actually made me very nauseous. I did like the walnut sauce that it sat on top of. The tagliatelle with black truffle was pretty good. As a lifelong native of the Ironbound section of Newark, I can attest that we have been missing a true Italian restaurant here, and this place did not disappoint! It is a very chic, hip place and so different from what we already have in the area. The service is also spot on and the waiter is extremely attentive. Now on to the important stuff, the food! The first thing they brought out for us was the bread and olives. Bread was warm and we definitely dipped it in the olive oil /balsamic vinegar mixture they poured right in front of us. Great way to start off indeed. Three different olives accompanied this intro before our appetizer arrived and my favorite was the red olives. The arancini was to die for! Once you open up this risotto ball its like an explosion of cheese in your mouth. The creamy walnut sauce was great as well. Our mains were the spicy vodka cavatelli and spaghetti bolognese, and I was not able to pick a favorite! The spicy cavatelli was unlike any cavatelli I've had, and extremely flavorful. Pastas are definitely homemade without a doubt. The bolognese, although usually considered boring, was anything but that. Although they are not serving alcohol until December of this year, they do offer mocktails and I thoroughly enjoyed my cucumber drink. Crisp and refreshing. Last but not least we ordered the chocolate walnut brownie with vanilla ice cream and boy it was the perfect ending to a great dinner. I think this dessert hit every note... sweet, warm, cold, crunchy and tart (from the raspberries). Next time I'll try their Panna cotta as it's also highly recommended. read more
