CHICKEN KEBAB Chicken
Kayla B.

Came here for a late lunch and everything was great! Got the Chicken Kebab Sandwich--SOOOO GOOD! The House Hummus, Phyllo Cheese Rolls with Red Sauce, and Mozzerella Flatbread. It was all amazing! The server was great and attentive. The vibe was nice and quiet, easy to hear around you. Bought two extra orders of hummus and pita to go, AND a gift certificate to a friend. Will definitely be back soon!

Dinner on a Saturday evening - packed, even lot was packed. Waited about 10 min and was seated. Staff very attentive w water refills and plenty of hot pita. We had a very hummus platter for the four of us. We had a nice fatoosh salad with grilled chicken - nice and fresh veg but the chicken waa a bit overcooked and dry, with kalamata olives and olive oil vinagrette: two adana kebab entrees with ground lamb, rice and burgol and one greek salad. The highlight was the house hummus and the many pita provided. Nice restaurant, excellent, tight quarters but a private parking lot.

Can't believe I'm finally writing a review after coming here for years but wanted to share! For the most part we get the hummus, baba ganush, lentil soup and chicken kebabs or chicken Adana platter. Everything is awesome, served hot and delicious. Just go.

Delicious!! Visited this spot because me and my gf were already in the area and wanted some good Mediterranean food. We were seated quickly on a sunday night. It wasn't packed at all. We were greeted by the waitress and ordered sodas. They don't have alcohol but they have a selection of sodas, juices, teas, and coffees. We ordered the Baba Ghanoush to go with our pita bread. Both were soo tasty! The portion size was very big too. For our mains I ordered the Chicken Kebab that's served with rice and burgol. My gf had the Adana Kebab (lamb) that's also served with rice and burgol. We both enjoyed our meals. It was very flavorful and cooked perfectly. I've never tried burgol but I like it! Pricing was fair around $23/$24 a plate. I'd love to come back for dinner again.

PROs - food , price CONs- parking , service was average , gratuity for 4 people ? Someone referred this restaurant and also looked at google rating (4.3) and hence went to this restaurant . From location perspective it was a little busy and the area is crazy with traffic and parking ! No road side parking even on a Monday evening . Even the parking inside the restaurant is so small (just 8 cars) had to park 5 mins away and walk to this restaurant ! Didn't like this part much .. Food was good though. No wait time . It was kinda busy inside restaurant but they gave is a small table for 4. Service was average .. the guy was running around because it was crowded . And he hardly comes and asks us what we needed !! Chipotle Hummus was so awesome .. kid had a flatbread ! It was good . Fries were good too: was like Popeyes fries . .. felafel rice platter was super good ... felafel was crispy. And super good . We didn't have meat .. overall it was good .. They added 15-18% gratuity for 4 people too . I thought min gratuity was generally for 6 people .. I would have still given a good gratuity but didn't expect an automatic addition of gratuity !

The food is fresh, flavorful, and made with high-quality ingredients. Their hummus is creamy and rich, the falafel is perfectly crispy on the outside and soft inside, and the grilled meats are tender and well-seasoned. The portions are generous, making it a great spot for sharing plates with friends or family. The service is friendly and attentive, and the restaurant has a cozy, welcoming vibe. Whether you're craving a quick lunch or a full Mediterranean feast, Sahara is a must-visit. Highly recommend the chicken adana kabobs and the baklava for dessert!

Wifey and I stopped in here a while back and had an absolutely fantastic dinner. We stopped here on a cold night and were lucky enough to have been seated without a reservation. We started with their hummus and fresh pita...wow, seriously, if you stop in here and like hummus then do yourself a favor and order it. The salads were actually decent for side salads, but the dressing was great. For our entrees Wifey ordered the Feta Chicken and I had the Chicken Adana Kebabs (came with two). While I certainly could have finished this meal, I took half to go so I could have dessert...which was 100% the right decision! For dessert we both had coffee and Wifey had the Baked Rice Pudding and I had the Baklava...and we shared. Both desserts were amazing. I didn't ask of the baklava was made on the premises, but it was fresh, crispy, and delicious. The rice pudding was also great-creamy with a nice caramelized top. Service was fantastic...food was fantastic, ambiance was fantastic. I wish I lived closer because I'd be here monthly if I did.

BRAISED BEEF SHORT RIBS, LAMB CHOPS, BIG HOUSE SALAD
Noreen S.

I took my partner out for our 55-month anniversary to the most charming little restaurant downtown. The vibe was cozy, the lighting was perfect, and the food was incredible--fresh pita, Turkish coffee, kabobs, you name it. We started with a mozzarella flatbread that was packed with flavor, then I had braised beef with tomatoes and peppers in a rich sauce while my partner got lamb chops with two kinds of rice and creamy garlic sauce. For dessert, we couldn't resist ordering two--rice pudding (absolutely a must-try) and baklava, which totally lived up to the hype. Such a beautiful night with amazing food and the best company. Big thanks to Sahara for hosting us--I'll definitely be back!

Hummus, Baba Ghanoush, and dips

My daughter recommended Sahara during our visit to Rutgers. Sahara is nicely decorated restaurant with excellent ambiance and service. The menu was right up my alley with Mediterranean/middle eastern specialties. I enjoyed the Hummus, babagonush, falafel and homemade pita. My wife had a Greek salad which was very good as was my daughter's shrimp kebab. I will not hesitate to return. If in the area check out Sahara. Parking is available in their private parking lot and on the street. BYOB

A cute and homey Mediterranean place with flavorful food! The chicken adana plate is always my pick for lunch or dinner here, plus the vegetarian appetizer dip sampler which gives you the perfect amount of 5 of their delicious dips to try along with unlimited bread. There was an older couple seated right next to my table, and when they got up to leave they rudely told us to shut up. It was 1pm on a Friday. After hearing all the commotion, our waiter apologized on their behalf, who apparently are regulars, and even offered us a free dessert. So kind! Would recommend this place - just be aware that their regulars might go off on you for no reason.

Greek Salad with cubechicken - 4/5…read more The Greek salad with grilled chicken was absolutely delicious. The lettuce was fresh and crisp, and the tomatoes, cucumbers, olives, and feta cheese were all fresh and flavorful. The grilled chicken cubes were juicy, tender, and seasoned perfectly. The salad was beautifully presented, and the olive oil and lemon dressing brought everything together. My only complaint is that the grilled chicken portion was extremely small, especially considering the price. I would also have liked a slightly larger overall salad. Despite that, the quality and flavor were excellent, and I would definitely order it again. Hummus - 5/5 The hummus was smooth, creamy, and full of fresh flavor. It paired perfectly with the bread and was one of our favorite appetizers. Beautiful presentation, excellent taste, and very fresh. I just wish the serving size had been a bit larger. Calamari - 3/5 The calamari was served as tiny strips instead of rings, but it was crispy and cooked well. The homemade dipping sauce was absolutely amazing--the best calamari sauce I've ever had! The only disappointment was the portion size, which was very small for the price. Even so, the incredible sauce made this appetizer memorable, and I'd order it again just for that. Chicken Chops - 5/5 The grilled chicken was juicy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. The rice and vegetables were fresh and complemented the meal well. Everything looked beautiful on the plate. The only drawback was that the portion was smaller than expected for the price. Baklava - 4/5 The baklava was fresh, flaky, and perfectly sweet without being overwhelming. The pistachios tasted fresh, and it was a wonderful way to end the meal. Delicious dessert! But super small Overall Restaurant Review - 4/5 We had a wonderful dining experience at Namli Mediterranean & Turkish Cuisine. The restaurant was spotless, the staff was friendly and attentive, and every dish arrived beautifully presented. Everything we ordered was fresh and absolutely delicious. The only reason I didn't give it a perfect experience is that the portions are quite small for the price. If they offered slightly larger portions, it would be outstanding. Despite that, we would definitely return and highly recommend it for the quality of the food, excellent service, and clean, welcoming atmosphere.

The salad is crisp and flavorful, but not over done. Together they marry perfectly. I like to add the yogurt sauce over the chicken kebabs and rice, it just creates a velvety smooth texture. I'm a sucker the their bhabhaganouj. I'm positive it's made fresh for each order, it's warm, hint of garlic. I can eat this alone with pita and be happy. The hummus is bright and delicious. Perfectly smooth texture, pure mouth watering goodness. Can't leave out the taboulli salad. Always fresh, never overdone, and the added pomegranate seeds give it a burst of joy in your mouth. The lentil soup has this earthy, rich vibe to it. I think they add cumin, and provide a lemon wedge which just brightens it and ties it altogether. Making a perfect lunch all on its own. A modest place with a couple of seats by the counter but they cook up a mean wrap. The delicious chicken taouk brought back great memories of well... being young and enjoying amazing food. It had a couple of fries in the wrap and some veggies. I would have liked to have a little extra veggies and chicken in there. The flavor was excellent either way. Next time, I would put the sauce/mayo on the side next time because it was too much for me. The tabouleh was fresh and very good, as well as the labneh. I remember they had a small room off to the right and there was really no one in that room, and then I realized it was an acai bar where you can get an acai bowl. In warmer weather, they have an acai bar, which is such a cool option to have inside a cafe. It is closed during cold months. My friends got desserts and coffee, and I got an acai bowl and some plain tea with almond milk. The acai bowl was not huge, but it was definitely very good and very filling. I loved the granola. I got acai, granola, fruit, and nut butter, and I really liked it a lot. I was full and happy because being vegan and gluten-free, there are not a lot of options for me later in the evening. While we were sitting and eating, we noticed there was a small prayer room in the back. We were curious, so we went in and took a look, and I thought it was really nice that they have that space as part of the cafe. It looked like there was a holy book, I believe the Quran, and there was a small, quiet area where someone can sit and pray. I thought that was such a unique and lovely touch to honor someone's religious convictions. Overall, I loved this place, and I plan to go back the next time I'm in New Brunswick.

Both desserts were $9-10 and were on the higher end price wise, but they were both delicious. There are a lot of options in drinks and baked items, but the tables may be sparse if you're looking to stay in. Sandwich which is the star of my meal was smaller than the palm of my hand, ordered it with baba, there was less than a teaspoon at best, lamb was dry, no vegetables hardly at all. Sandwich was falling apart by the second bite because the pita was thinner than a fingernails thickness. Soup was great as always, the pistachio baklava was superb. The he prices aren't bad but if you factor in that they're not training their cooks to assemble their signature sandwiches and platters to the standard of Mamoun's, it's a waste of money and time ordering here. When I first got the order delivered I called, no manager, said call back, next day, couldn't reach the manager, third day later, no manager and a young woman in her teens clearly not interested in my comments and getting exasperated with me on the phone, she composed herself, but honestly, my comments are spot on. I told her to tell the manager to look at the reviews on Yelp and Google, wasn't looking for a free meal to make up for the really amateur sandwich only a college student in their dorm would be proud of assembling, I simply like the fact that Mamoun's is near my house and management it clearly failing. I left my name and number, have ZERO FAITH I will be contacted back, they don't seem to care. Update: 7 days later, no manager called.
