If you're looking for a decent bowl of pho away from the GTA, this is it. There aren't many options in Burlington, but it doesn't matter - this place is comparable to the authentic shops. This restaurant is no frills, a quick in and out stop. Doesn't really make for a romantic date night restaurant, but the food is point on. I got a 119 small (pho with rare beef, beef balls and tripe), it came with a plate of bean sprouts (and the standard fare). The soup was flavourful and the noodles perfectly cooked. Even better, the menu stated "no MSG" and nothing tastes overly salty. My meal could have used more meat, but for a small you won't be disappointed. It's hard to find good pho out in the suburbs, but Saigon came highly recommended, so I decided to give it a try. On first appearance I noticed the restaurant was very clean. The staff welcomed us with a smile and took the time to explain different things on the menu as I was new to pho. I ordered the small chicken. I can't imagine what the large would look like! I first came here on June 26th & I went back on Canada Day & I'm pretty sure that's the last time I will visit. Their pho was very tasteless and bland - they didn't have that authentic taste, the one where you know the broth has been boiled with the ingredients for a very long time. I've only eaten at 2 Pho restaurants thus far in Burlington, and I can tell you this will not be one of the two I ever plan to re-visit. I ended up ordering curry chicken on rice and even though it's going to sound condescending, it was the worst ever. The dish was very gloopy and just lacked proper flavor that I've had at other Pho restaurants with the same dish. Such a simple dish should have not been difficult to create. The hot sauce was also subpar and didn't do the job for me. Even having something like sriracha would have been fine. I highly recommend the "Satay Chicken" it is #109 on their menu and a great starter that pairs well with this pho is the "pork spring rolls" #A02 on their menu. The service is great even though the son is a little estranged. The father knows how to make a great pho so always know that you are in good hands when that man is working the stove in his kitchen! A friend recently recommended Saigon on Brant and I liked it so much I had to call and thank him. It's excellent, authentic, Vietnamese food with a menu that is soup heavy but has plenty for non-soup lovers as well. My wife and I have been twice in the past week. She ordered the seafood tom-yum soup both times, I got a pad-thai the first time and a shrimp with lemongrass and vermicelli the second time. The diners at the next table were raving to us about the vegetarian options as well. The server (same guy both times I went) is very knowledgeable about the menu and is great at making recommendations to help people find something they'll like. I got to chatting with him about the menu and food in general. He went to chef school and prides himself on making everything from scratch. Portions are generous, prices are low, food is great. The only potential downside is the somewhat dated interior. If you're looking to superficially impress someone on a first date, you may want to go elsewhere. But if you want to truly impress them by showing them you know where to get great food, take them to Saigon on Brant. read more

I eat here very often. The interior is very Vietnamese Kitsch but clean. The older man who is the owner is very pleasant buy his son not so much. The food however is great and the closest to true Vietnamese cuisine you can get out of Saigon. Sure there are a few menu items that are there, I believe, to please the masses. Like Phad Thai. Also the have listed on their menu a couple of duck items but they never have duck. If you want good Pho or a little taste of Vietnam I highly recommend it. The service is awful! He would not even look at you or smile, and he is always busy with other orders. The soup was average. It was great because I saw lots of vegetarian options, you don't usually see that often at Vietnamese restaurants. I had the hot and sour rice noodle dish with tofu. The man was nice enough to make it vegan for me. It was quite sour, not that spicy, the flavour was strong. I"d rate the dish about a 7/10, pretty good for the price. The man serving is very quiet and doesn't come to the table much or asks how we like the food. This is your affordable, decent, fill you up type of restaurant. I had worst Pad-Thai of my life, and I am trying to be fair with this review and not 1-star it. It was very salty, and i didn't taste any sweetness or peanut - which is pretty much in every other Pad Thai I've eaten anywhere, including in TV dinners. I brought this to the owner's attention and he was accommodating, but also tried to convince me that this IS how Pad Thai is supposed to taste, and "everyone" that eats it thinks it tastes great. He DID compensate us for the meal, and apologized. Being in the restaurant business is about making people love the way your food tastes. I should mention that I'm normally someone that hates having someone make a big plate of food for me, and then complaining that it wasn't up-to-standard. I often worry too much about the restaurant owner's bottom-line. But what I've learned from this experience is if you order something off the menu, and they deliver something that you totally did not expect, that's a little false advertising. The manager DID, however, take it off our bill after I ordered something else. The guy behind me also coincidentally complained about the consistency of his food (idk what he was eating), but said there were chunks of fat, and manager responded "Oh no, that's flour", though the guy insisted he's never had his food like that before, either. I'm willing to take down this review if there is any indication that the restaurant is willing to change how they cook. read more

This is one of my favorite restaurants of all time, hands down. They have a vegetarian broth for pho that they simmer for thirteen hours to match the same flavour as the meat version - it's incredible. The owners are also really great. They're able to tell me if something has gluten in it and always have the best hot sauce and peppers if you're a spice fanatic. read more

Ordered it last night for delivery and my food had TWO pieces of hair in it, when I called to complain they told me "it is not our responsibility once the food leaves the restaurant" THEY DELIVERED IT, how is it not their responsibility?
