I'm so happy I stumbled upon this little gem while getting our favorite banh mi's in the same strip mall. They have all the Vietnamese table grocery items, plus ready to eat grab and go meals like: containers of Thit heo quay, goi du du, banh bao, and fresh che in the refrigerated section. Another bonus- fresh made to order Nuoc Mia (sugar cane juice). The auntie at the cash register was also very sweet! Now I don't have to trek all the way to Uptown for my groceries! Customer service is lacking at this Vietnamese grocery store. The hall to say they never sell expired or bad produce. I bought package of shush leaves (rau tia to) on Mother's Day for family meal. We had the receipt and wanted to exchange the next day but the owner had an attitude and not even offer reasonable excuse. Would want to support but some fellow Vietnamese businesses are bad business. Period. read more

Very organized! The people there are extremely friendly and most are bilingual as well! The food depends on whether or not you get the precooked or something you have to cook yourself. This is one of my favorite Asian grocery stores. It is located in the old strip mall. The store is large. It has enough space for everything. There is large parking lot available. The staff is friendly and helpful. Although, it may not be the most clean and organized oriental store, they have fresh vegetables and goods. On Friday's and weekends the most food is available. Roasted ducks, roasted pork, steamed roll with Vietnamese ham are my favorite. That can help me out when I ran out of idea for what is for the dinner. This place doesn't have fresh seafood. But you can find live crawfish and live crab here sometime. There are many frozen fishes and shrimp. Overall, the prices are reasonable. The restroom is located in the back of the store. Watch out though, the restroom is a little dirty and the store smells orientally. I would 100% recommend this oriental market to anyone. read more

Saigon oriental market is my go to for southeast asian groceries. If I can't find it nearby my house, I like to come here. Because they have fresh produce such as Thai eggplant, green papaya, crawfish, crabs, baked goods and desserts from the city. The prices are also cheaper than Phan theit too. This located in the end of a strip mall next to a pho restaurant. Come on Fridays for fresher goods. read more

If you never had Vietnamese coffee then go and get. Super easy because it's in a pack already just add condensed milk. Addictive!!!!! A Vietnamese friend recommended it and I love it. I go often and always find new things to try. I can't eat chilies so I often make my own sauces and spice blends. I use to travel 45 minutes into Viet Town (Argyle) to grocery shop with my mom when I was younger, now I just make do with what is available at Dominick's or Target, but it's no where close to being the Vietnamese market with the Vietnamese ingredients I need. Saigon Market is located in a strip mall that will make people hesitate to turn into. It's bare, fairly dead, and maybe a handful of cars. But don't let it fool you! Saigon Market is loaded with the essentials! Fresh cut meat, frozen shrimp, Asian dishes (bowls, plates, spoons), Banh Trang (spring roll wrapper), fresh vegetables, desserts (che), and even lottery! (I won $5!). For a small market it has the common Vietnamese/Asian household needs. It's not fancy, it's cramped, but it gets the job done. I'm glad my aunt told me about Saigon Market, it's only about 25 minutes from the house and 5 minutes from my favorite Vietnamese restaurant that I visit frequently. Looking for Thai, Vietnamese, or Cambodian specialty grocery items? Look no further than Saigon. They carry some other Asian groceries too (stuff that's easier to find, like Chinese and Japanese ingredients). But SE Asia is their specialty, and although they're small, they do it well. They also get fresh Vietnamese sandwiches and baked goods delivered from a few Vietnamese restaurants/bakeries. Go around lunchtime and you'll find some inexpensive and delicious treasures to nom. Lots of fresh produce you won't find easily out here (yes, even in places like Mariano's, Caputo's, and Valli). Oh, and packages of fresh rice noodles! They even have the fresh uncut rice noodle sheets you need to cut into fat noodles for some dishes. A bunch of shrimp paste choices! Love this place. Just be careful driving through the parking lot; there are large potholes to avoid. read more

I just moved to Bloomington from San Francisco. So excited to find out this place. Very hard to locate it. Take me around 10mins to get place today. Overall, Friendly staff. Nice & clean store. Well- organized & Full of items for asian food. The reason why I put only 2 stars because of the expired item. I bought the instant jellyfish. I did not check it until I got home and be so shocked for the expiration date. Now is Sept 10. And it shows Best before 02/04/2016... It's already 7 months passed.??? The big question is why they did not check this item for 7 months why nobody see it? No one buy it? (Even I already asked the cashier, he told me that he usually eats it, and it's good. That why I want to give a try). Very disappointed. Hope every one when buy frozen food here should have a check for the expiration date . read more

I really like this place! Hubby and I ventured here on a Sunday morning in search of some wide noodles. Got them! We also got some other fresh rice noodles as well as some hoisin sauce and other food items. This place is a treasure trove of items for you to make your own goodies. Hubby is Polish and I'm Irish so all our recipes are from books and aren't passed down through generations. We've discovered that the Asian aisle at Jewel doesn't cut it, so we are so happy we found this place! I had to take off a star because I think it could be cleaner. read more

condemned plaza is right! there is grass growing in the cracks of the broken down ashphalt parking lot but a treasure you will find. I come here for convenience now that I live in the burbs - easier than going into Chinatown but I get everything that I need here like fresh asian veggies, tofu and dumplings. I think sometimes their produce is fresher than what I can get in Chinatown! Oh, yes, easier but you'll pay a bit more for veggies here for the convenience. I purchased gai lan here and it was $1.99/lb but only $0.99/lb at Hong Kong Market. Good place to get your weekly groceries, but if you're looking for more specialties, then you'll have to trek back to Chinatown. If you have a pup, they sell beef marrow bones here (frozen), your pup will love you forever. Interesting note - you'll see a bunch of papers taped to the back wall where the cashier stands and you'll notice running balances and people's names on each sticky. Oh man this place it tucked away at the corner of St. Charles and Schmale. It's located in some condemned looking Plaza. I was actually rethinking entering this place but once I did I landed in an Oriental wonderland of products. They had the Korean cookies I love, the Saya Pea rice puffs and all the fresh produce I needed for Thai Food. Tip** the lime leaves come in on Wednesday. I just want to give a shout out to Pho Ha for hanging up their calender or else I would never have known about this place. What up what up! read more
