A decent store that is well organized, clean, and staffed by fairly friendly people. It is oriented exactly the way you would expect any other Meijer store to be put together. They have a decent selection of various items at really nice prices, particularly if you show up at the right time and find things that are on sale. I have been a customer of this Meijer since they opened. It is a very large store and has a little bit of everything. Groceries. liquor, pharmacy, crafts. pet supplies, toys and gardening. The lines are usually long, but self service is quick and the employees are always friendly. read more

My wife and I both tested positive for Covid. We went to our doctor and she wrote a prescription for Paxlovid. My wife uses Osco for her prescriptions and I use Meijer. The cost for my wife at Osco was $370. My cost at Meijer was $600. When I went to Meijer I told the pharmacist the cost at Osco was $370. She said there was nothing she could do and if it was cheaper at Osco I should go to Osco. No offer to check for any discounts or coupons. We went to Osco and explained the situation I had at Meijer. The pharmacist at Osco spent about 1 hour looking for any discounts or coupons. She ended up finding a coupon that allowed both of us get Paxlovid for $0.00. That's right - FREE. Osco only had 1 dose so she made a copy of the coupon so I could go back to Meijer. I went back to Meijer and was able to utilize the coupon and get the Paxlovid for free. They remembered me, but did not offer any explanation why they did not attempt to look for the same coupon. read more

They carry an impressive selection of brands like Timberland, Carhartt, and Columbia, options you won't find at places like Walmart or Target. However, there are no fitting rooms, which is a major drawback. I had to return items that didn't fit, and the 5-7 business day refund process was a real inconvenience. This is the worst pharmacy I ever dealt with. They never have drugs in stock! How can you run a pharmacy and never have common drugs in stock. They are rude and confrontational when you question why they don't have drugs in stock. I'm talking about drugs that are commonly used by people with high blood pressure and diabetes. Drug you think they would readily have Not this drugstore, they have to order each prescription leaving you without your medication for days. Yes even common high blood pressure drugs leaving your life in danger. God forbid if something happens because I will sue Meijer. The pharmacy department at Meijer is trash. My 67 year old mother is having a major surgery this Thursday and has a prescription for oxycodone. Someone in the pharmacy department "misplaced" the prescription and blamed my mother for their screw up. Even going so far to tell her that she had a problem. My mother has never touched painkillers and is as straight as they get. My mother has to suffer because you hired opioid addicts? No thanks. I also need to add that once I posted this on my Facebook page people flooded my comments with horror stories they have had with prescriptions being stolen from this same pharmacy. If you're in the Bloomingdale/Roselle area, your grocery options are: Jewel, Dominicks (if there's any left), Aldi, Butera, Walmart, or a little specialty grocery store. You can also go to Whole Foods and Mariano's, but they're a bit of a drive away. SO, when you're sort of a grocery snob (like me) and you don't want to drive very far (like me), there aren't many choices. Then there's Meijer. Thank God for Meijer! Yes, I admit that I do most of my grocery shopping at Meijer. Go ahead, make fun of me. I don't care. They have good prices, they're always in stock with most things I need, and they have a good, large produce section with organic options. Meijer hasn't disappointed me on my shopping excursions with the exception of specialty items that you can only find at a place like Whole Foods. And I do wish they had the option to build your own 6-pack in their walk-in beer cooler. Oh well. Of course, I always need to pick up some household item or drool over their selection of mason jars, so this is a good place to get all the basic things I need in one location (and some things I don't really need....). The clothing selection isn't too terrible (I've picked up a couple shirts here), the home decor has caught my eye a few times, and I've even ventured out to the garden section to pick up some equipment. We've found ourselves just wandering around for a couple hours and still picking up some things to bring home. This place can be a bit dangerous for people with shopping addictions. You can even get your hair cut or your eyebrows done in one of the little 'shops' near the checkout lanes! You never know when you might have a last minute desire to get your hair cut, right? So, Meijer, thank you for being that reliable friend I need at all times of day (and night). You've been there for me through college, graduate school, and marriage. I really want to like Meijer, but they just are not on top of their game. The selection is decent, and you can find some good values if you look hard (but do not rely on their online info because it is an example of "how not to design your website"). One huge dislike is how they constantly rearrange the store--mostly produce--making it time consuming to find what you are looking for. The posted price is not reliable so you need to pay attention at checkout. Checkout often involves waiting in line so do not anticipate a quick shopping experience. The worst thing however is that you cannot rely on fresh produce, and when I pointed out rotting produce on display to the Store Manager he simply said in exasperation "we are doing the best we can". read more

I love Meijer! Their prices are low, you can save more with their app and it's a one stop shop. I have been to this location multiple times and I've not been disappointed. I usually go during the week and early in the day, I beat the crowds and the shelves are stocked. They have a large produce section and everything is fresh. They have a great variety of meats and their deli has all sort of goodies. If you're shopping for toys they have a huge Toy section and their prices are better than toys r us. This location always has smiling faces and helpful employees. I always get greeted and asked if i need help finding anything. read more

** TO THOSE COMING HERE FOR YOUR THANKSGIVING TURKEY being mis-led by a very deceptive newspaper ad, thinking you will be getting a turkey "half off" at some incredible price if you only spend $20 in other shopping: - Very misleading ads (both in current newspaper ad, and at the actual store freezer location). - First off, if nothing more - see the photos for the Butterball turkey example. The two prices advertised are different. At the very minimum, this should be fixed. - At first glance, you may think - wow - if I spend $20 in the store I will get this turkey for HALF OFF the price. The price you "see" in the newspaper advertisements is NOT THE ORGINAL PRICE - but rather - a very deceptive "sale price" - they don't distinguish this for obvious reasons as they want to bait you into the store. Since there is no fine print or "original price per pound" listed in the newspaper ad, most people casually think they will be getting "half off" the $1.09 for Butterball (so - .55 cents per pound) if they spend $20 elsewhere in the store Not so. - Long story short, there is no real "sale" or "huge bargain" here. What Meijer is doing is jacking up the prices of the turkeys by almost a dollar a pound. The REGULAR PRICE of the Butterball turkey - for example - has been jacked up to about $2.18 a pound. Just for reference sake, Butterball turkeys are NEVER that much per pound, even during off-times of the year. If you look in your competitors' newspapers (Jewel, Wal-Mart, Costco, Ultra, etc.), they are all selling the Butterball turkeys for all pretty much the same price right now (between 99cents and about $1.09) - only you DON'T have to spend an additional $20 in their store. - Just be weary of your prices and the deceptive way the ads are written. Overall if you spend $20, yes you are still getting the turkey for a decent price. However, you are not getting anything "HALF OFF", unless of course you jack up the regular price of the turkeys by over 100%. - We spoke to a store manager about this. While she didn't concede this notion, she did apologize to us and say "I can see your point..." Just some other stuff: - Meijer can use some help with some additional cashiers. The lines were backed up a ton today with only about 4 cash registers open. This was on a Friday morning around 10am - NOT a peak time. You would have thought management would have opened up another 1-2 lanes temporarily to ease the length of the lines, but they didn't. - Finally - know your prices. While Meijer does have sale items, many other things you can find much cheaper at the usual competitors. For example, the 5-quart brand of oil I buy for my car I can find for between 17.99 and about 19.99 at Wal-Mart. At Meijer, the same exact bottle they wanted 25.99 for. Not cool with how Meijer advertised this "huge turkey sale", though. Deceptive and obviously the newspaper ads were drawn up in such a way and meant to "get people into the store" - only then will you see the actual prices of the turkeys once you are standing in front of the freezer. I went to this store out of my way to get a fishing license. At the service counter I was told they no longer have fishing license. I decided to pick up a few items anyway. One of the items that I purchased (Shampoo) had a damaged cap and the seal was cut, and leaked in my vehicle. I called the store and spoke to Larry, as he is the store manager. I asked if I can be reimbursed for that product over the phone or at my next visit. He said I would have to bring the damaged product back to the store now to get a credit. The item was only $3.99 and this is the principle here. I said I don't want to drive to the store and bring a leaky bottle of shampoo back to the store or in my car. I could show pictures of the product. I am busy and live in Elgin, nor do I want to waste time and my gas to get reimbursed for my item. If I broke it fine, shame on me - but it was that was already leaking in my car. I never used the product. I feel they should be able to compensate me over the phone as I have the receipt with me. I feel the customer service is not flexible with customers needs and they do not think of the customer first. read more

First time at this store - I live an hour away and was in the area helping a relative and stopped on my way home. Unfortunately I was shorted a bag of groceries which I discovered after driving home. This after specifically asking the cashier if all my bags were in my cart and not in the carousel. She said yes. Once home I found that I was missing a bag of groceries ($21.90 worth). Called the number on receipt - was on hold for ten minutes and then got Grand Rapids where an operator said they would transfer me. More music and then dead air while the call continued. After 20 more minutes I hung up. Tried FB messaging and the response bot told me it was sorry that I had a bad experience with delivery and to come back to the store for assistance - it wasn't delivery (which was specifically stated in the communication) and, even if it was, why would a customer come to the store having had groceries delivered. Bot. Tried the "contact us" form. Why can't a customer call a specific store to remedy a specific issue? Disppointing - first that it happened, but then that I couldn't even get ahold of someone in the store. Update: It's now December 19th and I have still not had success getting help with this concern. I have called numerous times - still get long hold times continuing to dead air continuing to being hung up on. Used the Contact Form multiple times - there was a response that told me the store director would contact me directly (no call or communication resulted) and another that asked me to submit the receipt. I did that (actually three times in three successive weeks). Honestly Meijer - you have my money and I did not get the merchandise. You need to make this right. read more

The store seems to have degraded over the past 5 years. I don't shop here exclusively like I used to. Go early because they seldom have enough cashiers when it's busy and you may wait in line until your ice cream melts. The selection of items is decent as is the produce and sometimes the meat section. Be vigilant about the price tags as I was paying more than advertised for a few items. MPERKS is burdensome and somewhat antiquated as you have to key in your phone and a PIN on a germ infested keyboard. read more

Store Review: A step up from walmart! The prices are good and the quality of the produce is comparable to Jewel. This location has a lot of parking. When you walk in the left side is general merchandise/pharmacy and right side is the produce section. The pharmacy is excellent as they have free antibiotics and pre-natal vitamins if your MD recommends the one on the list. The general merchandise has sharp markdowns overtime including up to 90% off but you have to keep your eyes peeled. The produce section is huge and good prices as well. On the weekend there is a lot of food sample stations set up to fill your stomach as you are walking around. With check out, I always go the self check out route to avoid the lines and have no issues at all. Pros- cheap prices, large selection Cons- none Hidden deals- weekly coupons in the newspaper, look for orange tags on general merchandise for discounts. read more

This store is an alternative to other large stores in the area, but faces many of the typical challenges and issues as other large stores. I can't recommend this store over any other large store in the area (except Walmart!) like I used to. For example, there is often 2 (maybe 3) checkout lanes open for the entire store. This essentially forces people to wait a long time in line, or check themselves out (which can also have a long line). The store offers special pricing for certain products which do not always properly ring up at the register. One may notice that you were not charged the sale price at all, but charged an increased amount or standard price. This can obviously add up if a lot of items were purchased with "special pricing." If one demands this to be resolved, that will make your shopping experience even longer than it already is. The deli can be super super slow, and their selection is really not worth the wait. Certain products may suddenly vanish from shelves, or stock is completely intermittent. Very hit or miss, and for many years. Now the store is clean, and they do have a wide array of departments to shop from. However, as big as the store is, it is hardly a one stop shop in my opinion. Not with the issues noted above, and especially not with the incorrect pricing at checkout. That's definitely numero uno, and I may decide not to shop here for a very long time because of it. I've found myself having to go to multiple stores these days anyway, whether due to better pricing, or stock availability. That's just the way it goes, I guess. read more

My only gripe with this store is the pet section, otherwise it is fine there. The fish in the aquariums are not cared for at all - living in filth, full of dead fish floating on the top of the water or on the bottoms. Rotted carcasses. The goldfish aquarium had a layer of dead fish on the bottom. So awful. It was truly disturbing, gross, and completely inhumane. If they cannot properly care of their aquarium fish, then perhaps don't sell them in what is a grocery store. No one is going to buy them anyway with all the death and sickly ones in those tanks. read more

I totally love Meijer. We have knocked about $40 a month off our grocery bill shopping here. Almost effortlessly -- a few coupons here, a few sale items there. We got some great customer service here Sunday. We had a coupon for $1 off a 3-pack of Kleenex. The 3-packs were also, happily enough, on sale, but this meant that the shelf was empty. We asked a grocery employee if there were more in the back. There were not, but she provided us with 3 regular-sized boxes at the sale price plus the coupon. Sweet. To me Meijer is categorized somewhere between Wal-Mart & Target. The Meijer stores are all very big & they have a big selection of all kinds of products. This location also has a gas station in the parking lot that always has some pretty decent prices especially compared to some of the other gas stations down the street. This Meijer has a very large grocery selection. Their prices are always pretty good for their food but if you are looking for a large selection of organic or grass fed food this place is a little bit limited. In terms of everything else some of their electronics are a little over priced but they do have a good selection. In terms of DVD's & video games it is hard to compete with Wal-Mart because their prices are always pretty low. This store is also 24 hours which can be very convenient. They also have a huge selection of home goods, clothes, office supplies & automotive supplies. The staff here has never really been rude & seems to be pretty helpful. Overall this place has a big selection of everything you need but sometimes they can be beat on price. I would definitely come here again if I was in the area. read more

I went here to buy 1 item. As I came back to my car an older man who looked to be in his 50s told me I parked in a handicapped spot. He was an employee of the store wearing a vest so that he could be seen in the dark parking lot. I then noticed the handicap logo on the ground but there was no vertical sign indicating this. It was already getting dark. I informed him that it was a mistake and I really did not see the logo which was true. The man said sarcastically "I'll bet". I told him I was perfectly capable of walking an extra 15 feet which is true because I walk on a treadmill regularly. I then told him that my son died 3 weeks ago and I was stressed and probably missed the handicap logo because of that. I said I was lucky I was even holding it together. By then I was becoming emotional and as I drove off he called me a bitch. I then cursed at him because I was so upset at this treatment. I then heard him say that he hopes my son is burning in hell. I will never shop at this store again because this was such a horrible experience for me. I reported it via phone to the evening shift manager named Ernst and also to corporate. On 09/30/2018 at 13:03pm I contacted Brian K. a director of the store who replied that he had additional information about the incident. His account from someone who reviewed surveillance videos at 7:55PM the evening of the incident was that "someone pulled up next to me and it was a random customer who confronted me". I firmly disagree and God strike me dead if I am not telling the truth, Nobody was parked next to me nor in front of me in adjacent spot. After all, that whole area 6 big slots were all handi cap designated via logo on the ground. The cart containment bin was just to my right and the individual who confronted me was indeed handling a grocery cart and wearing a vest indicative of employment at the store. Meijers does not tell the truth and is covering up a major employee incident. This is the honest to Gods truth and I have nothing to hide in this post. My husband and I have a new home, finding new lighting is somewhat of a challenge. While looking for lamps, last straw. We came upon a really nice 1 at Meijer in Bloomindale. Unfortunately their were none on the shelves, only the 1 on display and because it was not a discontinued item it could not be sold according to Leap a shift manager, we understand. My husband works in Logistics, we get it. Leap asked us for our information and would follow up with us when they had one on their trucks, it was going to be a couple of days. That works. Unfortunately their was none on the truck. Leap texted with each truck that came in with no luck. After approximately 2 weeks of waiting the Elgin Store had one. Not sure if he picked it up himself or how he had it brought over. But we now have our lamp and we LOVE it!! This is the type of customer service that is few and far between nowadays. Leap went over and above for his customers and we are now officially new customers of Meijer's. I try not to be a Amazon shopper. So there I was at Meijer at 12:30am looking for damn Space Bags so I could pack my suitcase for a flight the following day. Because, y'know, right when I need something to work (my old Space Bags), they fail. Awesomeee. I looked around the laundry/household area like a mad woman, only to come up empty handed. I stopped and asked a female employee (didn't get her name), and she asked an employee named Michael if he knew where they were located. Between the three of us (her on a walkie, me re-checking aisles I'd already covered, and Michael running around like a man on a mission to find these silly bags), they were located. This Michael guy? Seriously awesome. He ran around like there was a fire. I don't know why it took me this long to discover Meijer, but now that I have, I will be making the hour round-trip here on the regular. It all started when I researched what stores in my area carried the grain-free dry dog food I was switching to. Not many places do - not even PetSmart or Petco - so when Meijer came up on the radar, I hopped in the car and went. I ended up spending over 2 hours here, filling up a shopping cart to overflowing capacity. Prices are good, shelves are well-stocked, and I had numerous employees asking if they could help me find something. A definite plus is that I discovered what has now become my favorite coffee there - Michigan Cherry. So even if I were JUST to come here for dog food and coffee, it will be worth the long drive. Yeah, as if I go anywhere I like and only buy two things. I need a bigger car. read more
