Since this location opened just a few blocks from our home, Caputo's quickly became our go-to neighborhood market. My husband shops there at least three times a week, which says a lot about how much we've relied on it over the years. We genuinely like this store, but lately we've noticed a decline in the quality of the produce. Things like tomatoes appearing shriveled or, at times, even moldy. It's disappointing, especially for a place we trust for everyday shopping. I also attempted to place an order for Easter dinner, something we've done many times in the past. Prices have increased quite a bit, so this year I decided to keep it simple and order just the lamb. The online system didn't allow me to select the date I needed, so I called for help. That's where things became frustrating. I spoke with Chef Jose, and communication was difficult. I asked if he spoke Spanish, since it's my native language and I thought it might help. His response felt dismissive, mentioning he speaks Italian and other things, but the interaction itself came across as borderline rude and unhelpful. That impression was later echoed by the front desk, who suggested I contact another chef. Chef Doug, on the other hand, was the complete opposite. Even though we played a bit of phone tag, he consistently followed up with a helpful and kind attitude, which I truly appreciated. Overall, this is still a market we want to love. It has been part of our routine and community. But between the recent produce issues and inconsistent customer service, it has been a bit disappointing compared to what it once was. I'm hopeful they find their way back to the quality and warmth that made them our favorite local market in the first place. The ambiance is nice, the produce guys are friendly. However, they do not offer the wide variety of produce that Valli Produce offered before they were bought out buy Tony's. I am Indian and do not enjoy Indian eggplant. I do love Japanese and Thai eggplant, which is only sold at HMart (a Korean/Asian grocer), and refuse to go in there and they sell and slaughter live fish, and the smell makes me nauseous. After going to breakfast that was so bad at Glen Oak Cafe, that had nothing vegan for me, we went to Caputo's so that I could cook lunch for two, and I could find nothing to prepare quickly (I am a very talented home chef), and Indian cooking is very time consuming. This review is for the wine dinner and chef showcase recently held (4/17/26) at this location. This was our third time at a wine dinner here. The organization of the event was spot-on. Everything ran smoothly. The food was very good with excellent presentation especially the Cannelloni. The wines were provided by the Candoni family in Italy. The menu called for four wines to accompany the four courses. The Candoni family graciously provided at least three additional wines and a spritzer. We enjoyed all the wines. This is unusual. Most times there are wines that you like and others not so much. The orange spritzer was a meh. We are looking forward to the next wine dinner here. read more

I do shop here frequently however I do also use other competing stores. There are 10 within a 2 Mike radius which I would hope Caputos would take that into account when they train their staff. The checkout lines are slow and most cashiers seem to always be having a bad day. It costs nothing to smile! I am also sorry to say the management there know nothing about customer service. Long lines and the lack of concern about your wait time. The last time I was there I experience service so bad I actually tried to call and speak to a manager, waited 20 mins, bounced to several different department and no one could find a manage to speak with. I have visit 3 of Angelo Caputo stores, and the same experience. The employees are nice most of the time, BUT the customers are nasty and look at me as if I don't belong in the store. The store is always clean when I visit and the selection is definitely good. But every single time I go the cashiers are HORRIBLY RUDE. Every single time I go, there has not been 1 cashier that has greeted me OR acknowledged when I greeted THEM. I get they are young but where is the common courtesy. I came in to the store to buy hog casting. When I when to the butcher I asked for Hog casting and he said Maple food beef casings is all he had.. I asked if this the same casting to make Italy sausage and he said yes. So bought it for $ 8.95 bug when I got home it was altogether different than what I had but I still use it. One of the best grocery stores I have ever been to. It's awesome how you can drink and grocery shop but also very dangerous because you want to buy everything. All of the produce is very fresh. Not to mention a great store but there bar is amazing. Kenny who was bartending while I was there was super personable and friendly. He made a great espresso martini and gave great suggestions. The bar also serves breakfast and they have make your own omelets which are tasty. I had spinach, feta and garlic omelette and it was very fresh! read more

My family and I really enjoy shopping at the Carol Stream Caputo's. They have great sales. They also have all the items that we need to make a nice dinner. There is also a little bar in there where you could get a beer wine or cocktail to enjoy while you are shopping. They also have senior citizen day on Tuesdays you get 10% off of your grocery bill. 4.5 stars for grocery store. 5 stars for cafe. Like any grocery store there are things you will pay more for there, and many things you will pay less there for. Their pricing on produce, deli and imports are very, very good. If you go there to shop for common brands (canned or in the freezer) expect to pay a little more. That said they have some very, very good imported items at a very good savings. One of my favorite brands of sun-dried tomatoes is Polli, an Italian brand, and it is difficult to find in other stores and online. At Caputo's it is around $5 for a 5+/- ounce jar. At most other stores it a a few dollars more. Seriously. And if you try to buy it on Amazon? It is over $20. No kidding! Their deli prices are very good, and they have some excellent brands to choose from. I especially like Boars Head meats and cheeses. They also have a very large bulk section for dried items. And I am a great fan of their olive bar. Their house brand of products (cheese, sauces, etc.) is very good. And their house mozzarella is particularly good. This particular location has a very good cafe. I tried their burger (usually I would have stuck to the Italian items), and I was truly shocked at how good it was. It was like traveling back to the 70's and getting a burger at a top-rated family diner. The burger was solid, very lightly seasoned, topped with excellent cedar cheese (not some artificial, plasticy stuff), with a solid bun (that does not disintegrate on contact), and came with lettuce, tomato and onion on the side. I am pretty sure the burger was 1/2 pound. I had to put on my own condiments, which was good. It was around $8 with tax, but it was huge, simple and delicious. At Caputo's in other locations I usually stick to things like their arancini, tamales, meatball sandwich, etc., but this was the first time I tried something like this. Personally I think it was far better than all the fast-food places in the area, definitely better than Five Guys, and I am hard-pressed to think of a better simple burger within 50 miles. The store is very clean and far more organized than most stores. If you live in the area, it is well-worth a visit. read more

I have gone grocery shopping many times at this location. The store is cleaned and organized. The prices were reasonable and it also nearby the Vietnamese grocery store. Therefore, it was very convenient for me. Today I tried the steak taco dinner from the food court. They were so delicious. The steaks were moist and tender. The fried beans also came with fried rice. In addition to that, I bought a pizza for family. Rating the pizza alone, I would give it two stars. Being from a suburb of Chicago, you'd know what "good" pizza is and this, was not it. The pizza was met with heavy criticism from my family. I would never eat this pizza again. Not worth your money--trust me. Regardless of this, the store is amazing as a whole. I would not read at the food court, but I will continue to shop here for my groceries. Definitely one of my go-tos, just not for made food. read more

Ok when it comes to buying authentic Italian food there is no better place but Caputos. Today I needed to buy my tomato sauce the only place I love is the caouto's brand to make my marinara sauce. Indeed it takes 3-4 hours to make but it turns delicious. I got frozen zeppie. Rapini, cold cuts priacciutto di Parma e bocconcini. E calamata olives. Fresh home made Italian and Bare sausage. I love their pastries here the Tiramisu is delicious and the chocolate covered cannoli yum. A variety of groceries for little price. Oh yeah I forgot to mentioned my parrot toto love his fresh nuts, walnuts, almonds and Brazil nuts. read more

DO not order online with these people! We ordered (2) legs of lamb for delivery a week in advance. They call the day of delivery to tell me that they don't have it and it's my fault for not calling the meat department to special order this. I'm posting our confirmation stating "You're all set!" with not other instructions for calling anyone. Then, after I cancelled the order (since it wouldn't arrive for another week and still wasn't guaranteed), they still deliver the stupid brats that I could have picked up anywhere and charged us $10 for the delivery fee! I left a message (3) days ago for a manager to call me, but they haven't bothered. The only reason we can think of is that they didn't want to honor the great price we got online. Other than these things I mentioned I do not recommend shopping here for anything else other than that simply because you aren't being guaranteed freshness! I brought this questionable johnsonville Italian sausage and bratwurst burgers to one of the associates (Bob) attention to what he then responded he would have someone take care of this. I was hoping that maybe he would have gone above and beyond and pulled the spoiled meat out of the freezer, I just hope someone did. But this isn't the only incident this is the only time where I have gotten the time to sit down and write about it. I'm so over the other new grocery chain in the area. I'm tired of overpaying for food that seems to be declining in quality. After purchasing my regular weekly items at Caputo's, I was nearly floored by my receipt. My bill was HALF of what it would have been at Mar...., erm, that other grocery store. This Caputo's is the exact same distance from me as the one in Naperville but I can get to this one more quickly. It is easily becoming my new favorite. The spacious parking lot is also a plus. As a newer store, it's clean and hasn't taken on the funky "what's that smell and where's it coming from?" yet. I still don't l-o-v-e the layout but I'm getting used to it. Hubs and I are eating better these days, so it's no problem to bypass much of the frozen area and the aisles of convenience items made with ingredients you can't pronounce. The produce is extremely affordable here and most is good quality. I haven't encountered any expired produce after purchase yet. However, canned good and pantry staples? Not so much of a great deal. I do stock up on canned beans and veggies when they are offered during "warehouse buys," though. They have a great selection of pastas but those prices are hit and miss. A few weeks back, multiple kinds of pasta were on sale for $.79 per pack. A great deal recently was boxed gnocchi on sale for $.79 each (normally $2.50). I bought 20 boxes- seriously. I do wish they had the smaller carts like other grocery stores have. As someone who strives to keep the weekly groceries at $40, a full sized cart isn't beneficial to me. Also, some of the employees could benefit from a customer service class or two but I've encountered the same attitude at the Naperville store, so I guess some things will never change. Bottom line: Caputo's has a lot to offer if you shop smart. It's not the store for everyone, but it works for my husband and I, and our budget. The layout is a little confusing on your first time. I needed to buy vegetable stock, for instance, and there were three or four different sections to get it. The arrangement of the frozen section is odd, as it is all around the outside of the store. But frozen pizzas are on the opposite side from the ice cream, for instance. Huge points for having Damato's bread in the bakery. This Italian bread is made in Chicago and they serve it at JP Graziano's, my favorite Italian deli in the region. It's amazing to be able to find it in the west suburbs. I also made sandwiches with their green pepper and provolone sausage; it was an excellent Italian sausage. Also, they have Boar's Head meat, which is the absolute best deli meat brand you can buy. The hot bar looked ok, but nothing too great. The produce was fine. It lasted a long time and there was a lot of variety. The layout of the checkout lines was a little confusing, in terms of where the express lanes and if there was even a self-checkout lane. It is a lot cleaner than some of the older Caputo's stores I've been to. I don't know if it's worth the 30 minute drive, especially considering how tough it is to get in and out, but it has a lot of unique items you can't find in Jewel and other grocery stores. This is a grocery store that pretty much has a mini restaurant in it, a full alcohol bar along with a bakery & gelato bar. Think of that & then realize that you are living in the future. I was reluctant at first to check this place out because some of the Caputo grocery stores I have seen before weren't that nice. This particular grocery store changed my mind & it changed my mind in a big way. I drove by this location a few times before they were about to open it. It had a newer look & set up than some of the other locations I have seen. Once they opened it took me a few weeks to check it out but when I did I was very impressed. The most impressive part of this grocery store is the kitchen area that they have. They have a full kitchen & full menu seven days a week. Every day you can order from the menu or you can chose from their daily special. Every day they have a new special which comes with a side & a drink. For example one of their specials is two Vienna hot dogs with a side of fries & a drink. All of the specials are reasonably priced. Another awesome part of their kitchen area is they have hot & fresh soups & a full salad bar. The soups are located in the salad bar & they usually have about five or six different soups per day. The Italian Wedding soup is by far the best soup I have had here. Their salad bar selections is pretty good but it could be better. For example Jewel has a salad bar & they have a bigger selection of things to put in your salad. They have imitation crab & shrimp but this salad bar offers no such options. They also have a section of sushi. Their sushi is pretty good for being made at a grocery store. I wouldn't compare it to a really good sushi restaurant but it is much better than Jewel's sushi. Also this grocery stores has a full bar that you can sit at & order some drinks. They also have a patio if you want to drink or eat at for lunch. This grocery store also has a pretty large bakery which you can see through a glass window & you can see the workers making the bread or desserts. They have a good selection of fresh breads & desserts & their pretzel buns are very reasonably priced. One of the things that earned this grocery store only four stars is that their grocery store selection is not as big as Jewel or Mariano's. Their selection of organic meats was very small & they didn't really have any of the organic grass fed meats that I was looking for. Overall this grocery store is pretty impressive & would be a good option for lunch especially if you work in the area & are looking for a reasonably priced place to eat at. Had never been to this location before today but I liked it (set-up-wise) a lot better than the one in Naperville that I am used to, with all the little rooms coming off the central space that get jammed up on busy days. This building was much more open; the only place that really had any traffic jams was the produce section, with all of the long "islands" that people were maneuvering around (or not, as the case may be: staff were blocking the way with pallets in several places). This store is very big. There's also a huge food court-type area with panini, calzones, pizza, rotisserie chicken, and more. Caputo's is a good place for deli products, bakery, and international products (and not just Italian!). Their prices are not really competitive on dry goods and there is not much selection on housewares-type items (cleaning supplies etc.), bath supplies etc. You're better off getting that at Target or the like. The one serious disappointment here? The produce! I was really surprised because at the Naperville location the produce has historically been very nice. But there were blackberries molding in their tubs (no wonder they were on sale...), and for all the varieties of apples they all looked really beaten up. Frustrating, because it means I will have to make another stop for produce elsewhere. Overall, it was interesting to check out a different Caputo's after shopping at the same one for so long. I have been shopping here on and off for about a year now and generally shop for flyer "on sale"ads. Today on 2-17-2020 I saw a man at the candy section picking up a container of candy that had spilled on the floor with several Caputo's employees assisting him. I thought he was a paying customer being assisted by friendly Caputo's employees. I then saw that he too was an employee and was shocked when he had the double chocolate peanuts all picked up and the container resealed he then put it back in the shelf with all the other double chocolate peanuts to be sold to a unknowing customer... Really would think it would be store policy to pitch it in the garbage. I will only buy SEALED items from now on at this store...Can't trust a store who practices policies like this...YUCK... read more

The store itself is amazing. The layout, selections and services. The prices are OK and I really like this place. I have been here twice since opening. Produce is exceptional. When you first arrive the parking lot is huge and full. But once inside the people are not that abundant and the store size handles crowds well. There is only one way in and out so that make for easy access. Once inside there is a bar to your right which is really cool. Just past that is their food court with a lot of variety. They also have a juice bar and coffee shop. All very nice and seems to be decent quality. The only thing I experienced that I didn't like so far is they have too many people working at one time. They stand around and do nothing. I ordered a couple of sandwiches at their food court. There were more people behind the counter than they had customers. Regardless they lost my order and I had to wait 30 minutes. The check-out lanes are super slow due to lack of employee motivation. Hopefully these are all start up pains and they will correct the error of their ways and this place will become my favorite grocery store. read more

As a couple others mentioned, the layout is a little confusing at first - more like a Costco in some respect. But, once you get the hang of it it's quite fabulous really. I buy mostly organic veggies and I specifically come here for veggies and a few hot bar items when I don't feel like cooking. Prices are good. The organics are sometimes a little hit or miss but I get at least 50 percent of the organics that I'm seeking out. Then I go to Trader Joe's or Pete's Market for the rest of my veggie and other items. I was very surprised at the "online" process for Caputo's. I was shopping online and adding to my cart in preparation for the holidays, while on the phone with family, decisions were being made of who would buy this or that, so I would add to my cart or delete quantity or added quantity, deleted items and added a different brand of the item, and so forth. I then submitted my order and added payment. I then realized Costco was out of turkeys so I went in to my order and added a turkey. I never received an email with the final confirmation of the total bill. I checked my bank statement today and there were 6 pending charges from Caputo's. I called Caputo's and spoke with Matthew Idstein in their "corporate" office who handles the charges??? He said to me, mam, every time you changed your mind, that generates a charge to your credit card -you changed your mind many times. I said, I NEVER submitted the order until I was done. SO BOTTOM LINE, IF YOU SHOP ONLINE AT CAPUTO'S, ANYTIME YOU MAKE CHANGES TO YOUR CART, YOU WILL BE CHARGED! MATT, SPOKE TO ME AS IF MAKING CHANGES WAS MY FAULT. I told him I never received a final confirmation of total -Matt insisted I was sent an email, he was able to send me a final receipt but no proof that the email was sent. This was such an inconvenience and no where online does it state, IF YOU CHANGE YOUR MIND OR ADD QUANITIES OR DELETE ITEMS YOU WILL BE CHARGED EVEN THOUGH YOU DID NOT SUBMIT THE FINAL ORDER! how inconvenience is that. From the Outside this Caputos looks like upscale Whole Foods but the products are the same mediocre quality as in other Caputos just more quantity. The Aisles are wide for easy movement and it had a sit down area, pizza and salad bar. Fruit and Veg selection is large but quality not great. Soft tomatoes and celery, bruised grapefruit , etc. Prices seemed high- have to pay for that new store I guess. It is nice and clean, doesn't smell like the Bloomingdale store. read more

I've been to this Caputo's a few times and every time it has been a good trip. I like the fact that it is so clean and everything is well organized. The employees are so welcoming and greet you with a smile unlike other places I've been too. The produce and seafood was fresh and didn't look like it was sitting there for days! I was surprised how well the baggers placed my groceries neatly unlike other places where they just throw your food in the bags without a care! Ever since the grocery store across the street from home closed down, we've been coming to Caputo's. And we love it! I almost feel like I'm Italian for a little bit while shopping there! It's huge compared to the other ones I've been to! Lots of parking. Lots of departments, extras and aisles to browse. They have an actual bar next to the food area. And a whole hot bar and food-to-order stations. Every time we go, it's always late at night, and so that hot bar food looks old and dried out. But I'm sure it's great when it's fresh! They also have what looked like an area where they teach cooking classes? I wasn't wearing my glasses, but my husband said that's what it looked like. Little counter and sink stations. And there were people all gathered around some person who was teaching. You just gotta love the songs they play while you shop. My favorite is the song "That's amore!", but they changed the song to "That's Caputo's!" Cute! We can find just about everything we need there, EXCEPT for a few items, which we just run over to Wal-Mart to get. It's a little bit of a nuisance, but we love everything else about Caputo's, so we deal with it. NOTE: Some of the more expensive items they keep behind the Customer Service desk, so you have to go and ask for them. Pine nuts was one item, and I believe there are a few more. People tend to steal these items! How rude! Ladies, watch out though! There is an Italian guy that works behind the counter who will call you "baby." I don't think he understands that in 2018, not all women are down with his lingo. It's funny though, so I don't mind. I'm sure this will be our go-to store, being it's less than 5 minutes from home, for as long as we live in Carol Stream. read more

I can say that the store has the best produce section among all the grocery stores around the area because I've been to all the grocery stores comparing their differences and the store are just basically the best that I could find fresh and good quality produce at fair and reasonable prices. I do not pay much attention to their other departments but it seems organized and always on stock. The staff in here are also friendly and helpful. Sometimes there is a long line in the checkout and sometimes I would be able to check out quickly. I highly recommend the store's produce section especially to those vegetarians out there! read more

When it comes to lunch, we have a list of places that we rotate to frequently. Caputo's flag ship store in Carol Stream has been one of them for years. Most recently, they have removed the salad dressing packets and oysters crackers for soups from the salad bar, instead handing them out on a rationed basis from behind the cash register. Today, I went through my normal routine of having a small soup, large salad, something from the hot food bar and a drink. When I asked where the crackers were I was told they were at the cash registers. When I asked the cashier for two packets of oyster crackers, I was told I could only have one since I ordered a small soup. Apparently, somebody has been stealing the crackers so they now control distribution from behind the counter. To be honest with you, the salad is good as is the soup but the food from the hot bar is so-so. It's sad that this puts a negative on my decision to frequent this establishment. read more

DISGUSTING!!!!! OK So i was very excited when I saw they were opening this up so close to my house. So I went there 1 week after they opened and I bought a lot of produce including a watermelon. First all of the produce I bought lasted only about 3 days. Which is terrible!!! Produce I get from Mariano's or Valli, or Jewel, or Tony's, or Whole Foods last double that! So I was very sad about that! But the most horrifying part of this entire thing was the watermelon!!!! I waited 2 days to cut into the watermelon and before I could even cut into it, it had rotted all the way through and I had watermelon juice all over my kitchen counter and floor!!!!! The watermelon must have been so old in the store that it didn't even last 2 days at my house!!!!! It was the most disgusting thing I have ever seen! The watermelon was soooo gross inside! I could not believe that happened after having it for only 2 days! I am not even kidding you there was juice now all over my floor! The tile was ruined because of the juice sitting on the floor over night. I am NEVER NEVER EVER shopping at any Caputo's store again! I am making sure to let everyone I know about this, so that they do not shop at Caputo's ever again!! I would much rather go to Valli which is right down the road! Or even pay triple the price at any other place to avoid this gross store! Do not come here, unless you like to pay for rotted produce! read more
