I was in the area traveling for a funeral. My two nieces was killed in North Carolina by a drunken driver on Father's Day. We stayed at Sailport Resort in Tampa while in town for a motorcycle event and really enjoyed it. The views of the bay from the balcony were amazing, especially at sunset, and the suites were roomy with a full kitchen which made things easy. They are actively remodeling the resort, so there were sections under construction, but honestly the noise wasn't bothersome at all. The updates will probably make the place even nicer in the future. The pool area and little beach cove were great spots to relax, and the on-site restaurant was convenient after long days. The only downside was that parts of the property still feel a bit dated and parking gets a little tight during busy times. That said, the staff was friendly, check-in was smooth, and overall it was a comfortable stay in a great location. We'd definitely consider coming back next time we're in Tampa for an event. read more

It is incredible that this place has a 3 star rating on here. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE, IT IS INFESTED! Out of 7 cheer families staying this particular weekend, 6 of the rooms either had roaches or bed bugs. They completely covered it up and are refusing to refund us our money. It caused us to move hotels half way through our trip and much upheaval. We had to go through many careful steps not to bring these things home with us and the hotel management staff is horrendous. Damien is a terrible GM and acted annoyed when we called, had an attitude and then proceeded to completely blow us off after multiple calls, emails etc. My guess is that this place never recovered from the hurricane and the bugs have moved in. The pictures on the website were deceptive. The property was nothing like what was advertised online. The listing needs to be updated to accurately reflect the condition of the property -- from the elevator to the ripped carpet in the room, dirty kitchen, and filthy floors. The room smelled strongly of mildew, marijuana, and bologna, which made the stay extremely unpleasant. I even felt the need to wear flip-flops in the shower because it did not feel clean. We arrived at midnight! I had told the hotel we would be a late arrival and to please hold our room. They offer a complimentary Lyft service from the airport. This hotel is inly about 8 munutes away from the airport. Upon entering the gated garage area it was not clear where to go and check in and had us really freaked out because it was midnight! The lobby entrance is on the second floor and parking is beneath the hotel. I wish I would've known that or that the employee would have told our driver that at the entrance gate. Our room was large. The bed was comfortable with 4 pillows, and there is a TV in the bedroom. The place was clean. There's a little kitchen area with a microwave, refrigerator, stove, dishwasher, & sink. The living room area is pretty big and there is a couch that turns into a bed, a TV, & a nice little patio with 2 chairs and a table. We were lucky to have a room view of the ocean. I went out to the beach in the early morning. The beach area is small, and the ocean is NOT accessible from here. There's about 6' of razor sharp boulders in front of the end of the man made beach. Looks like they have a nice little campfire spot that's probably lit on the weekends, maybe weeknights? There is a beach volleyball area, and 4 shaded thatched huts to lay under the shade. There is an outdoor swing that faces West, I imagine for the beautiful sunsets. This place is a good value for the money. It would be good to stay here with kids. The Big Bamboo Bayside is a little cafe by the pool. Laurel was working there and was friendly and quick to place my order and serve me some coffee. I had three sausage biscuits that were pretty good for only $6.49! There are plenty of chairs by the pool. You can tell the end rooms were ravaged by the last hurricane here and they are all under renovation. The pool is a good size and has a good view of the sunset. Happy hour drinks are served an hour before sunset. read more

For what this hotel is you cannot complain at all. Great views of the water all around. Great size pool, beach area, little pier to walk out to, and an outside exercise area with machines. From my experience the people working the front desk are very polite, patient and kind. The design of the suites is a little awkward and closed off, but still offer plenty of space, nice kitchen area, and comfortable bed in the bedroom, and a great balcony to enjoy the views. we had the WORST experience here from 10/16-10/19. Computer systems down the entire length of our stay. Goven a key to a room on the 4th floor, key didn't work. Had to be given a new room & were offered no help moving our bags. Opened the pull out couch to dirty sheets & then given a hard time when we asked for new ones & then god forbid an extra blanket. Key stopped working the next day so someone had to let us in each time we left. One staff member was incredibly rude. The only things good were the staff & food at the restaurant by the pool & the fact that they did reimburse us for one night. Also, the hotel is undergoing reservations & that is not mentioned on their site & they don't tell you when you call. read more

Understand that though this is not a *5-star resort*, I thoroughly enjoyed my one night stay here and have almost no complaints. My experience is worthy of 5 stars for the purpose of this review. Sailport is an older property, however, with some updates. Planning to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary, we decided an experience would be more memorable than a meal. But our anniversary was on a Wednesday and neither of us could get out of work for more than half the day. So a one-night staycation seemed sufficiently celebratory for us. We chose Sailport for several reasons. First, we wanted to stay in Tampa, and the Rocky Point location was super convenient. Then, the rate for a one bedroom suite with a private bay view balcony was excellent (~$165 total). Plus this resort offers free parking for multiple vehicles AND no resort fees. The full kitchen in our suite was simply a bonus. Add a private beach (albeit no water access) with an on-site diner-style restaurant, and we booked. Parking was plentiful, and the on-site security was a nice touch. We really appreciated that we could park both of our vehicles with no extra fees. Check-in was quick at the front desk on the second floor. Our room was easy to find & I was delighted to see how private our balcony actually was. We brought up our bags, opened a bottle of sangria, and watched the sunset from our balcony. Later in the evening, after eating at the restaurant & having a couple of drinks, we wandered the property. Right on the edge of the water, we enjoyed sitting around the large fire pit. We also found lots of other seating options facing the bay, as well as a good size fishing dock. My biggest gripe is that our suite had a weird smell when we first entered. I am not exactly sure if it was a cleaning agent or a fragrance-masking product, but the odor was rather strong so we left the patio door open while we got settled. Closing the door when we went to dinner, we found the odor was still quite noticeable upon our return so we kicked on the A/C (in spite of a cool-ish Florida night). Within an hour or so, the offensive smell had completely dissipated. My secondary complaint (incredibly minor), is that we could not get the TV in the living room to tune at all. The remote would turn on the TV & visibly adjust the volume, but I couldn't get past the Roku screen to either watch live TV or stream. Also, the channels were limited on the bedroom TV, but we weren't here to watch television. I want to reiterate that this is an older property, and the decor in our suite reflected that somewhat. The kitchen & bathroom seemed fairly recently remodeled, but the living room sofa has seen better decades. The bedding was quite fresh, including the mattress (yes, I checked), but the carpet looked well-worn. I also didn't want to lean on the balcony railing because it felt rather loose. I did appreciate the extra USB outlets at the desk, but I was disappointed to not have even a power outlet on my side of the bed. Because Sailport is less than 10 minutes from my house and maybe 5 minutes from my office, I am not sure when we will have an opportunity to stay here again, but I can certainly recommend this resort for anyone that wants an apartment-style room with a great view. In spite of no water access, Sailport does have a long L-shaped fishing pier over the bay. In addition, the small sandy beach features a covered seating area, sunbathing loungers, and a few tiki-style tables with chairs for shaded seating. I also enjoyed the swing the next morning and noted that it was positioned for swinging without the sun in my eyes. Leaving for work in the early afternoon was bittersweet, but I thoroughly enjoyed my time here. read more

I truly enjoyed my stay at the Sailport Wayerfront Suites in Tampa. The grounds are lovely and the hard working maintenance staff keeps everything looking nice. Check-in was easy and I recommend asking for a higher floor room overlooking the water or at least the pool. There was a cozy little poolside cafe with drinks and snacks. All the rooms seem to have balconies, which is really nice. There is also a nice little sitting/beach area on one side of the property. Great value and perfect accommodations for a family, couple or solo travel. I would definitely stay here again and again! read more

One step above a cheap motel. The good: it was clean ( except for a few questionable stains on the floor and a dead bug or two) and a decent view of the bay. Sandy area for sitting was available (but far too small for the number of guests). No beach /water access. They made a big deal about having a volley ball court. Who picks a place for the volleyball? The down side: its old and worn out. Sitting room furnishings would not be picked up if left on the curb for free. (Bed and mattress were good though). The pool was loud and obnoxious. (Head count was way over the 25 person capacity) bartender was nice but I couldn't wait to get out of there for all the people talking on speaker phones,kids screaming, and creepy drunk uncles all around. They dont have daily housekeeping service which could be ok except the front desk woman was unhelpful and not friendly. And lastly the Marijuana smell was everpresent and stinky. I mean smoke em if you got em but on public property please choose edibles. Nothing makes me want to recommend this place. read more

I booked this hotel thru an app called "Hotel Tonite". I was only going to be there for 3-4 hours prior to my early flight but wanted a shower and a couple hours sleep. I got there, place looked shady. Had to walk up a flight of stairs because elevator wasn't working. Just to be told that they had overbooked and had no rooms for me. No solution no nothing. When I asked why they hadn't called and they said that had no number which was BS. They said that room hadn't been charge so no refund necessary but that was BS too. I had to call the app and that was a mission too. Don't ever bother with this place because you probably won't have a room. read more

Sailport has terrific views and nice size suites. We needed a hotel close to the University of Tampa and Sailport fit the bill for our family of four. We had a two bedroom suite with a kitchenette/living room for a reasonable price. The rooms definitely need updating. There were stains in the carpet and the decor was not aesthetically pleasing. The hotel has a pool and a "beach" but you cannot access the water from the "beach". The only restaurant onsite is a small tiki bar, but there are plenty of places nearby to eat. The staff was not always accommodating. After the second time my son lost his wrist bracelet, the guy at the front desk gave us a hard time about replacing it. We ending up not replacing it as you really don't need one if you are not on the grounds. Bottom line: I would not stay at Sailport for a vacation or a resort type of stay. However, if you need a place to stay in Tampa with a large family, it's a roomy and reasonable. read more

I like the rooms here. We got a one bedroom apt with a full open kitchen and a balcony overlooking the pool and bay. The room was nice and clean and the kitchen had everything we needed for our weekend stay. The bedroom is toward the front of the unit but it was surprisingly quiet even though it was a holiday weekend. The pool was constantly packed and not very well monitored so that was a downfall. The parking area is secured with a guarded entrance so people that aren't staying there can't enter, which I like. For what you get, the rates are very reasonable. read more

The condo we had was great and that is about it for this location. The condo had been renovated, and it was nice. The clientele leaves something to be desired. We watched a man get a beat down and no cops were called and what we saw for the 4 nights that we stayed, I would not stay at this place again. It gets chippy at night so be aware. There is only 1 elevator, and it is a long wait if you need it. There is no beach you are on the bay. The swimming pool is small, so get there early to have space. The bar at the pool is okay, it is a bar. Last thing, we had to listen to people play corn hole in the parking area and the echo was unbelievable until about 12 midnight. Thank God we did not have to get up and go somewhere. Personally, if I owned one of these, I would sale it asap. Be aware if you stay. I pretty much booked this location bc I saw a pretty sunset picture and I'm not disappointed. We booked a one bedroom suite which comes with an equipped kitchen, full fridge, stove, microwave and dishwasher. I guess I wasn't paying too much attention bc I didn't realize that but was quite happy for it! Check in was very easy and we had no issues there. At the check in area they have a little "shop" where you can buy your forgotten items and also wine and beer should being in close quarters with your family drive you bonkers. The room itself is spacious and comfortable. My kids slept on the pull out couch without issues. Our queen sized bed was just fine, no complaints there. I can definitely tell this is an older facility but it's kept up well. We have a water facing balcony and this is a must have if you stay here, it's the best part of this hotel. In fact, we extended our stay by a night solely bc of the view!! The only bad thing is people like to smoke on their balconies. I thought this was an no smoking establishment but we are frequently driven inside from our balcony by this horrific stench. The breezeways can get a little loud with guests acting like they're the only people in the world, shouting, walking like a herd of elephants, but a white noise machine takes care of this promptly. I see maintenance on the property always cleaning/picking up the areas, tidying up the beach volleyball court, opening umbrellas for the day, they seem to be on the ball in that regard. The front desk has a volleyball and fishing poles you can borrow, just leave your ID as collateral. As for amenities there's a pool but it is VERY small and full of bad behavior. When we were there adults were drinking beer IN the pool, people were casting their fishing lines FROM THE POOL DECK. I seriously almost got snagged with a hook. People bring coolers and eat with their feet in the water. It's like white trash had its convention here. It was a major downer and a good way to get a pool full of bacteria BUT I'm hoping our next visit will have more refined people. Other amenities include a tiki bar style "restaurant" but it's really like a food shack in the pool area. We didn't try it but lots of other people looked satisfied with their meals, the prices are a bit high but I guess on point for a hotel eatery. There is a workout "island", think outdoor equipment a'la California beach style. I didn't use this but saw a ton of ill mannered children goofing around on the equipment, but again, see lack of refinement above. There's also a laundry facility on site. I also didn't use it, though it's nice to have in an emergency. We've really enjoyed our stay here and do plan to come back, I just hope we can miss the convergence of icky people we had this time. Randomly came across this place during a hurricane evacuation. What a gem! Full kitchen with a balcony over looking an angle of the Bay and their pool or sand "beach" lounge area! It's almost feels like a hotel with two rooms. One bedroom and then a bed or sleeper sofa in front living room area. They had crib rentals! So awesome Everything seemed very clean , slightly dirty dishes but that's a hard thing to keep perfect haha The staff was wonderful from the check in to the pool side restaurant to the housekeepers ! The pool over looks the bay and the restaurant there is reasonably priced and pretty delicious !!! Only reason not 5 stars is because elevator closest to our room was broken. I arrived here and the vibe was there. Nice clean condos with a Restaurant on site and Tiki bar at pool. The water is right there for fishing and swimming . So many restaurants near by and shopping. The 1 bedroom condo was clean and had a number celebration size kitchen with microwave and stove. The balcony was over looking the Atlantic and pool. Very roomy and private. You can park in the covered decks underneath the property. This is conveniently located near the Hwy too. The bed was very comfortable and clean. Also upon checking in the receptionist gave a map and a hotel voucher to redeem at the Restaurant or gift shop. This is a hidden gem if you want a quick reasonable private but plenty of thrills spot then this is it in Tampa. read more

This is a nice resort over looking the bay, and I have been coming here for the last 6 years and never had a problem until this visit. I rent through Airbnb with an independent owner. My original check in date was on the 11th of June, but since they didn't have anyone staying on the 10th we decided to get an extra day, starting on the 10th. We had all of our paperwork with confirmation numbers and the whole nine yards. When we get to the hotel, we can't get pass the guard shack because they said we didn't have a room here. After fumble fucking around for 20 min, and me standing in the 97 degree heat. They come back and say your check I. Is not until tomorrow. I showed him the updated paperwork, so he called Ted the so call person in charge and told him I have the paperwork that clearly states that the extra day was paid for. Ted says (over the radio) give him a pass and if he's not supposed to be there then we will make sure we call the cops. Not knowing that I could hear him. After I got my pass and parked . I went up the the front desk, the lady their was rude as hell. I went knock on the office door and asked Ted what was the reason for threatening to call the cops after I showed the paperwork. At that point Ted tried to change his story and over to walk me over to the front desk to get a room. STILL not understanding that I have a room from a private owner. He's pissed because I'm not getting a room through the resort . Will all that being said, I should not have had to waist a fing hour in the heat, over a freaking parking pass, and been threatened to have the cops called on me during all of the other bs that we are going through. Had I been a white man , this shit probably would have never happened. Please don't waist tour time going through the hotel or go their so called bar by the pool . This hotel had many folks enjoying themselves, we we not among them. Tucked down a side street and a great view of the bay, I thought it would be a good place for a few nights in Tampa. Full disclosure, I did not request an accessible room, but did ask if the room would accommodate a wheelchair. I was told it would. Upon entering the room, there is a long narrow hall, a room in the back and another bed in the living room. The beds were ridiculously high and not at all suited for a short person, old person or person with any physical limitations. The wheelchair would not fit through the bathroom door. I tried to change the room, but the option was a pull out couch from the 80's. The pool and bar and "quiet time" began at 10 pm. (Note to self: when the hotel states quiet time begins at 10...be wary) The night brought the cars and the people hollering outside, around 2:00 am, men fighting in the outside hallway. When we woke, my husband and I packed our bags and said adios. First and only reason (my opinion) to stay here is the VIEW! It is amazing. Like you are floating. Water from EVERY window in almost every direction. (Room 439) Staff was wonderful (Yoli at check in went above and beyond for us) Also there is a store inside that sells a wide variety of things including food and alcohol! On site bar/restaurant down at the pool. Downside... older hotel, elevator was broken for some time so a four floor walk up with bags, satellite TV I'm guessing with a few digital channels including showtime, but the rest are FUZZY. (TV is not what you stay here for!) security could have been better. Wild young children literally running up and through halls until the wee hours! *ask for extra facecloths at check in. I really did enjoy this hotel, however there's a ton of room for improvement. I definitely understand the bad reviews. So, I'll discuss the pros & the cons here. I tried to check-in earlier than the check-in time, but a room wasn't available which was understandable. So, I spoke to Daniela at the front desk who was awesome by the way. Very pleasant! I requested an upgrade from the pool to a bay view & there weren't anymore available. I then requested a pool view with a nice view of the bay & Daniela stated that they had something, but it wouldn't be ready until 3 or 4. Check-in is at 4 so that was fine. They wound up calling me closer to 3, & I'm glad that I made the request. The pool is off to the side, so you see only the beautiful bay when you open your curtains. The room is a decent size, it had a separate bedroom & living room area with a full kitchen. I met a few nice people at the pool, & the waitress at the pool's bar/restaurant was really cool with great customer service & she had an awesome memory. Pool was a little small, but the times that I went weren't too crowded. They have a few areas to sit & to just watch the bay if u like or to go fishing. So yea...I liked it! What I didn't like is, that they really need to invest more money into the rooms. Our bed, made a ton of noise. I thought it was gonna break down. The sheets barely fit the bed & it kept coming off. They give u 2 towels. I tried calling the front desk a couple times, but I didn't get an answer. Also, it rained really hard one night & when we got back to the room, one of the end tables were covered with water. It looked like it was coming from the top of the window. Also, if u push the fan button in the bathroom, u will blow a fuse in the room. The fuse box was slightly open & I wasn't sure y, but I understood later. It was an easy fix, but come on now. Get the dang on thing fixed! My last issue was the thin walls. Our neighbors woke me up one night arguing & u can hear every single noise in the hallway, due to the location of the room. If u decide to stay here, I would suggest that you request the 4th floor so noone will be making noises over your head. Would I stay here again? Probably so! Like I said the people were nice & altho some of their stuff is dated, it still was an enjoyable stay & the rooms are reasonably priced. I would recommend, but If you're uptight or a light sleeper than this may not be the place for you. read more

I had a friend and his family stay here while they visited. The rooms aren't bad and they view from the balcony was great. The pool and eating area is nice and you can get pools to fish off their dock. They have a volley ball net on sand and there are plenty of great places to enjoy the scenery. I'd recommend this place to anyone visiting the area. read more
