Our server must have worked there for decades as she knew the entire menu back and forward including all of the current beer selections. We had the bison chili, Caesar's salad (great BTW), spinach artichoke dip and pretzel. All were very good. This was our favorite place to eat while we were in Rockford and the beer selection was great.

We sat at the bar for a drink while we waited for a table. I had a white Russian and my wife had a specialty cocktail, I don't remember what it was. We both enjoyed our drinks. We were seated in some elevated booths that had a view of the bar area, which was absolutely fantastic!! There is tons of regular restaurant seating in the back dining room rooms... We had the pig candy, cheese, curds, and the waitress recommended the fresh bread. The pig candy was very rich. One piece was enough for me. The cheese curds were very large bigger than tater tots. They tasted good, but I prefer smaller cheese curds. The waitress was right, the bread stole the show! One of the butters that it came with was cinnamon, which was fantastic! Dinner salad was very good. Tasted like homemade dressing. My wife had the pig sandwich and I had the gnocchi. Both were great, including the accoutrements like the french fries and garlic bread. The hostess came around, giving the ladies coronations, which was a nice touch. Great service and just genuinely nice people! We eat out every Friday, Saturday and Sunday. This is now on our list.

Olympic Tavern - This is the Italian beef I picked up at Olympic Tavern. This has been the worst I have ever had.

I'd like preface: 1. Atmosphere is great…read more 2. Staff was very nice. 3. The food that we ate, tasted good. 4. Sat at the bar, drinks and bar staff were nice. 5. We DID ultimately receive a 50% discount on our plate, which I am acknowledging was gracious and I am thankful for. 6. I grew up eating fish, not only at home but in restaurants/bars. I am giving this restaurant a three star review however. We ordered the walleye fish. The two bites I was able to take, definitely tasted good. However, in both bites, I was picking out several bones. Upon inspecting, we found over another dozen bones in the walleye. Bones happen in fish sometimes, but this was an astronomical amount that made it impossible to enjoy the fish or even eat it comfortably. We quietly just told the bartender about the bones and just asked if we could have a portion of the fish discounted because we ate everything else. Which tasted great. We absolutely were willing to pay for everyone else, didn't want a discount on the entire bill. Just a little something for the fish. She talked to her manager and then the manager came out. Now IF the manager had just apologized and offered a discount, this would've been a 4.5/5 review. However, the manager proceeded to give us a lecture about walleye. She insinuated that we never ate walleye before; she said people who don't eat walleye, don't understand that there unfortunately are a lot of bones. And that there was nothing they could do about it. Keep in mind both the bartender as well as the manager acknowledged that the walleye gets several complaints because of the amount of bones. (that sounds like a supplier problem, and should probably be addressed). My family used to own a restaurant in a campground, we served a walleye, we did not have issues with bones. If there ever was an issue, we understood that fish could be unpredictable, and we would just offer a discount and remake the fish. (It happens) Again, I am grateful that she ultimately gave us a 50% discount on that plate. We were more than happy to pay full price for everything else. But having someone give a condescending lecture about walleye, assuming that I have never eaten walleye before was unnecessary. I didn't need the lecture. That alone made put a damper on the entire experience. The way management handles unfortunate situations can make or break it for customers.

One of my absolute Favorite restaurants in Rockford…read more I want to preface that I am a Transplant to the area and did not grow up on the "Tavern Style" pizza that Rockford celebrates. With That being said, Woodfire's Pizza is LEAPS AND BOUNDS better than anything else Rockford, IL has to offer (IMO). They seem to have much better quality ingredients too. I have never visited Woodfire without being completely satisfied with my meal. We have tried a ton of different pizzas from here and they have never disappointed. The one complaint I have ever had was their service, sometimes it leaves a little to be desired. Servers needing to paint the fine line of not being overbearing and giving you space to converse and enjoy your meal but also attentive enough to make sure your guests are getting their refills, sides, napkins/silverware etc. We have visited a few times with very little attention past the initial greeting and delivering of food. Obviously everyone is different so some might prefer that level of space. This has never detracted from my experience. I love their food and return often. I friendly bit of info: GET THE BURRATA! We have made the mistake of choosing their Bruschetta over the Burrate once and never again. Not saying the Bruschetta is bad, it just doesn't live on the same planet as their Burrata! They also have a decent drink menu, this place is a great option for groups and families. They do get rather busy though so be prepared to put your name down and walk around the area until your table is ready.

Honestly, i got the wrong pizza but i enjoyed it so who cares…read more Crab Rangoon pie bc crab rangoon is punk. As far as the crust goes... it didnt feel woodfired. It was a bit denser than id expect like a density of pizza hut or chuckie cheese. I enjoyed the flavor though, i also think maybe a longer cook to get some char and crust wouldve helped. The worker was very nice as i picked it up carryout. I was early so he got it rushed even after i insisted it was ok. Very above and beyond energy. In any case, the sweet chili was fine, not my favorite rendition. But the cream cheese base was banging! Woooo, would def go back lol
